Question Anyone tried esim.me with their Zenfone 9? - Asus Zenfone 9

So... I'm thinking about buying a new phone soon, and I had pretty much decided on the Asus Zenfone 9.
However, I just noticed it doesn't have eSIM built in, and this function is fairly important to me as I travel a lot.
But then I found out about esim.me claiming:
"It is no longer necessary to buy a new smartphone with a permanently installed eSIM chip (eUICC) to use eSIM - thanks to eSIM.me!
See: https://esim.me/blog-about-esim/the-esim-me-revolution
So my questions are...
Is anyone successfully using esim.me with their Zenfone 9?
And apart from having to use their app, are there any drawback with using esim.me compared to a permanently installed eSIM chip? And if so, what would they be?

Anyone?

I can't say I'm interested in giving this a try. However, I think it'd be important to first establish whether it works in general, let alone on a specific phone like the ZF9. Does this work on any other phone you have?

I don't see why it wouldnt work, since its basically just writing that esim into rewritable physical sim card.
Similar thing already existed since long ago marketed as multiple numbers on a single SIM card.

I have never used it myself, but according to my research it's pretty much established that it works. But I would like to find out if it works as well as a pre-installed eSim, and then of course if it works on the Zenfone 9. According to their website it works for earlier versions of the Zenfone.

Yeah I believe it should works as long as the APK can be installed.
Because it works by adding the esim into their app, then from the app it will write the SIM data into the physical SIM they provided.

Hmm, according to their website it is not a SIM-card they provide, but more like an actual eSIM chip in the shape of a SIM card. But I may have misinterpreted it.

That's just marketing term
This kind of thing is very common in country like India where people can have 10 phone numbers+ in one Physical SIM card

Hot swappable Ameo - an EASY mod!

For anyone who's interested in making the SIM on their x7500 hot-swappable - like the Kaiser -and perhaps hasn't been sure whether to try it or not, the fiddly little clip that goes over the SIM card and which cannot be opened without removing the battery CAN be taken off with a little careful persuation and agitation.
It has no effect on the sim (which is held in place perfectly well by friction) and makes me wonder why HTC put it there in the first place.
I have been using my handset with this mod for about a month now, swapping sims between my normal handset and the Ameo with no problems whatsoever. The clip can easily by reattached in the event of a sale or warranty repair.
Upon hot swapping you have to deactivate and reactivate the via the Comms manager et voila!
Pictures attached.

yep i been using it like this for about 3 months now as well
it works really well...
although the sim for me was a bit hard to get out each time so i took a knife and cut a little groove in the sim card so i could get my nail into it
thanks for your point!! good idea!

Why not simply get an extra sim card though? In my case that costs 18 euro.

define what u mean by an 'extra sim card'. I have a specific number with an attached data tarif which I want to use with my n95 and also my ameo (when im not out and about) are you talking about a pay as you go sim card, a new tarif or some kind of 'spare' sim as I was not aware that I could get a clone sim card.

I think the marketing term is "Duo SIM". It's a clone of the original SIM. Some companies give one for free (IIRC Vodafone).
You can use only one at a time though (you have to switch the phone you don't use off).
i'm on t-mobile uk and they certainly don't offer this service. I'd be interested to know how i could clone my sim though, since my reasons are entirely legitimate. Does anyone know if this can be done or if it's allowed?!
there's a reason you can't just pull the simcard out; and it's because the radio *really* doesn't appreciate it and generally speaking, it shouldn't be done.
that said, there's all likelihood that it won't matter anyway.
do you feel lucky, punk?

I would also be very interested in this in the UK, but I've never come across it.
If anyone knows any better, please let us know.
Alternatively, is it possible to 'clone' my sim? Or maybe ask for a replacement sim for my 'faulty' one, and then use both... not at the same time, obviously.

T-Mobile UK used to offer this service, back when it was One2One, but to Business Users only. The benefits were that people could have a SIM in their mobile and one in their car phone, however for two reasons it was stopped. Firstly the car handsets never really took off, and secondly and probably more obviously security reasons.
As far as I'm aware, the other UK networks are of the same standing.

Also, if you clone your card and the network detects two users, it will disable one of the sim cards. (In theory anyway - I don't know if people have created a "workaround")

Indeed, T-Mobile says you need to switch one phone off. Otherwise the first phone logged on will stay logged on. Which is unfortunate. You'd wish the phone you have with you to get the connection even if you forgot to switch the other one off.
I still have to go pick mine up, so I don't know exactly how it works. They did tell me that I will get 2 new SIMs. Not sure why, but that might be an indication that you cannot simply clone any SIM.
Duo SIM
Enquired with T-Mobile in the UK... They don't do the Duo SIM. Very annoying. I remeber that back in Holland every provider (used to) do them; car phone & mobile. My dad had one (eh... two?). Does anybody know if it's possible to clone a USIM?
I have an Ameo (Athena), an M3100 and a laptop with a UMTS card built in, so I could do with not having to swap SIMs every time... SIM is getting a bit worn...

[Q] Unlock the HTC aria from AT&T

is there a way to unlock this device from AT&T carier to any GSM without buying a code from the offered sites??? maybe some playing with the boot or something...
As of yet I don't think there has been anything on this method of unlocking. There is another thread here about unlocking the phone, but I can't link it right now. Pretty much all I can say is wait and see what happens. I think we might be stuck for the next couple months untilled at&t decides they want to let us unlock the phone.

Did his $10 code work or did you have to use the upgraded, more expensive service? Thanks a lot. I'm currently having all sorts of issues trying to unlock my phone from eBay.
The $10 code worked right off the bat. I paid for the item, and got the code in my email in 10 minutes. Plugged in a decrepit SIM from my trip to Singapore, and the phone came up with the SIM unlock prompt. The code was accepted with no issues.

Ah, thanks. I guess mine is just in that 1% that cannot be found in the normal database. Guess my only option is to pay for the expensive unlock... bah.
What Excatly does unlocking the HTC Aria do?
What does buying this unlock code do for the HTC Aria, what benifits would a user gain from this? Would i be able to change my boot screen, cause i would love to do that
It'll allow you to use the phone on a non-AT&T network. I'm trying to get mine on T-Mobile, to be specific.
@chaley80 - What you're looking for is referred to as "rooting" the phone. Basically, you need to have superuser access to the phone, to allow you to modify things like the boot animations. There are instructions on here. Its very easy with Revoked. All this type of unlocking does, is what shirleeey said, just allow you to use it on foreign GSM cell networks.
after a few months you can call up at&t and ask them for the unlock code, they have to give it to you

That's true if you are an AT&T customer, but if you're like me, I've never had my Aria on the AT&T network so I had to Sim unlock it as soon as I got it, over a year ago Cheers.
Going along with unlocking it, would it be possible to use the Aria SIM free? E.G. with just the basic functions, no cell radio, but it should still be able to connect to your home wi-fi. Almost like an android ipod touch in a sense. I think that'd be pretty cool.

Just turn the phone on without a SIM card inside it.
If you're on a stock ROM it'll need to be activated with one first.
Then after it's activated you can leave the SIM out as long as you don't wipe data/factory reset
Let me rephrase that slightly, would there be any way to get rid of the "insert SIM" message?
@WinSuk: I'm running CM7. (Going to try your CM9 as soon as headphones work. Excellent job BTW )
I knew that I could take out my SIM card and my phone would still work, just wasn't sure to what extent. I figured there was something I would have to flash or other.

It's chill. I see; I did do some browsing around, but there was no specific way to hide the message... at least none that I could find.

[q] magicsim elite - galaxy s3 dual sim adapter

Has anyone had any experience of the MAGICSIM ELITE - GALAXY S3 DUAL SIM ADAPTER? I have tried it in my SGS3 and a) it's incredibly tight and b) it reports "no SIM".
It may be that I am being paranoid but I really don't want to force the micro-SIM and the adapter in too hard. Even when I think I have it in OK, it doesn't see the SIM cards.
Teach me....
Yep I've got one, works fine. Just pushed it in with my finger nail until the spring load clicked in place. If in doubt maybe just email Magic-sim?
I got mine a few days ago and the STK menu does not work. I am unable to switch between SIMs.
I have contacted Magic-SIM and am awaiting a solution.
it seems Magicsim ELITE doesn't exist ... check on magicsim.com there is no ELITE product ... I've ask them and they are not aware about "ELITE" ... so it's smell fake product their are more expensive and have the same software/hard as magicsim 28th PLUS as you can find on www.magicsim.com/site
It looks more like it was developed especially by them as I have both the older 28th version and the new elite one and they are definately different.

Nice try.
OK, I finally got it installed and fired up with the help of Danny at www.magic-sim.co.uk.
Pity that it really doesn't work at all well. The Dual Sim application is visible and flips between SIMs. However, it's REALLY REALLY slow to register the SIM at boot time and then at switchover time. It is also very unstable and will drop both SIMs out of service at times, which kinda makes the phone useless.
All in all £35 wasted, but "Caveat Emptor" I guess. I have given up with this.

I had a similar responsiveness issue with a dual sim adapter I got for my old S2 but it was because I was using a sim card that was about 3 years old and that was causing the issue. Once I replaced that it was fine, maybe this is the issue you're having. This ones working really well in my S3, takes about 20 seconds to switch sims and has been extremely stable so far.
The primary SIM is a micro SIM and is about 4 weeks old direct from T-Mobiles local store. The other one is an elderly FIDO SIM but that's not even getting looked at during the boot process.

I'd bet you my right arm that your outdated sim is what's causing you mischief. These things rely on the full circuit so even when you're just using the first sim the signal is running through the second sim. My issue was also because of an old sim in the sim 2 slot.
Change that sim and I bet it works as it should!
Just installed this myself and so far all is perfect. No problems switching :good:

Yep I've had a few items from them over the years
The ones for which the adapter is working, can you tell me what kind of subscriptions you have (3G, LTE)?
My issue is that I can go up to HPSA+ on my SIM 1 (the one fitting the original S3 SIM slot) while on the second SIM, I'm blocked at EDGE. I tested the second SIM on another phone and there it goes up to HSPA+.
Also, to get it to EDGE, I have, after switching to the SIM 2, activate GSM only networks on the settings so that it register itself to the network first and then activate data services. A complete mess...
Could it be that SIM 2 is too old for dual sim adapters? How can one tell this?
Thanks in advance

[Q] Is my phone locked to another country?

Greetings all,
I've been scouring the net trying to figure this out and all roads keep pointing back here.
I purchased an x10 mini off eBay for a good price and upon receiving it, every time I boot it up it is set to Portuguese language and has me select a language. There is also no sim card in the phone.
While I can select English, this is a rather annoying side effect. What are my options to correct this and get it to default back to English?
Will rooting/installing a new rom correct this? Do I need to buy a sim card for the U.S., can I unlock it through software? I see something called fastgsm that allows you to unlock the phone but since that's just a piece of software, I'm inclined to believe it can be done without paying an extra 25$
Any direction would be immensely appreciated!

If your phone doesn't have a SIM it has no idea where it is. Put in a sim-card (take one from another phone if you don't have one available at the moment) and see what it does.
It can not be locked to a country, although it can be locked to a specific provider. Having said that, there are two versions for different global regions, where they use different frequencies for 3G. The most common type is the E10i which will work in Europe, North America and some other regions, and the E10a which is built for mainly South America I think.
But anyway: Put in a SIM and see what it does.

Are there other settings it tends to forget when turn off your phone? Like maybe changing the theme or something like that? That might point to a little difficulty in writing the internal memory.

Things were staying set other than the language being prompted at bootup every time. I grabbed a random US sim card, the cheapest one was a 4$ at&t gophone card. Once I put that in it ran a default setup and everything has been fixed since then.
Thanks a lot for the direction!

Received OP2 (Chinese Version) - UK, EE

Hello everyone,
I have received my OnePlus 2 today - it is the Chinese version of the handset with Oxygen OS 2.0 installed (with no bloatware). I thought I would post this in-case it is helpful to anyone, I can confirm the following:
4G/LTE work fine on EE
Dual SIM works fine - I can both make and receive from the two SIM cards - however I cannot see the phone number of the SIM in slot two (probably because the phone only has 1 IMEI I suspect - but this does not stop me making or receiving calls on the SIM in slot two)
I will continue testing things but so far so good, very happy.
EE is great for FDD-LTE phones from China. I've had loads work fine, including my old Chinese OnePlus One.
Interesting re. dual SIMs working - good news for importers. Out of interest, do you have two IMEIs on the inside back (my International variant does)?

I'm using three UK with a Chinese version OPT. LTE works however when signal falls down to 3G, the possibility is that it will not revert to 4G unless you reboot. very annoying. probably a baseband issue
I also have a chinese one from merimobile but mine came preloaded with a whole load of malware. An Oxygen rom of some kind with the usual chinese 3 "browser" icons and lots of "your phone is running slowly" notifications....
I flashed the Oxygen rom that is easy to find, gives Oxygen 2.0.0 and no malware that I can find, but it does have actionbar issues - both K9-mail and Up crash on startup with logcat lines similar to this :
AndroidRuntime( 1843): Caused by: java.lang.NullPointerException: Attempt to invoke virtual method 'void android.app.ActionBar.setDisplayShowCustomEnabled(boolean)' on a null object reference

But in case of Aliexpress try to find the seller with strong reputation and some fast delievery (like DHL or EMS) or you can wait for ages (many of them do not have the phone on hand and can tell you long stories why you should wait). And before payment contact the seller and ask the question about avaliabilty and when he can sent the phone to you.

You should be fine with Three, if you get either the EU/Asia variant or the Chinese. The EU/Asia variant would be better as it can access both bands that Three use for 4G are 3 (1800Mhz) and 20 (800Mhz).

I have just checked and I only have one IMEI listed on the inside back - the writing around the label is also in Chinese which is to be expected I guess.

Will you be so kind to check this with *#06# call-button too?
For the label and listing doesn't have to be always right! The call thing is just to be sure ... Works on almost every mobile phone with a few exceptions.
How much shipping did they charge?
