Question YouTube Vanced Links in Samsung Internet SOLVED - Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra

I just received my S23 Ultra today and I'm absolutely loving it. BUT, I'm having one very annoying problem. I've been using YouTube Vanced without problem for many years. So one of the first things I did on my new phone is install Vanced, disable the official YouTube app, and turn on all the "open supported link" options for Vanced. BUT despite this, all youtube links I click on my web browser (I use Samsung Internet) open in the web browser and not in Vanced. I've searched around Reddit and XDA but not found a viable resolution. PLEASE HELP!
UPDATE: revanced exhibits the exact same behavior, still not sure what to try next...
UPDATE 2: Figured out that everything opens correctly, in Vanced or REVANCED, as long as I use CHROME and not SAMSUNG INTERNET. So does anyone know what to do to fix Samsung Internet in particular? Or should I just switch to using chrome as my default browser?
Last Update: @TheMystic correctly diagnosed that a toggle buried in Samsung Internet's settings menu is the missing link needed to make links work with Vanced. See post below for details.

I can't get YouTube vanced to work on s23 Ultra either. It dod for a bit but now it doesn't get a network connection. Have deleted and reinstalled but it doesn't matter.

Check if you see an "Add link" button in the page where there is the open supported links switch.

its not only you, i have A52s but it opens links in browser, copy the link and go to youtube vanced and paste the link on the search bar and the first video is the link.

hello, youtube vanced was slowly dying since support ended, try revanced or newpipe

There is no add links button, only the four default YouTube links types, all of which are enabled.

I can make it open in Vanced, but what I really want is for it to open there by default.

try Youtube Revanced latest version

Just pay 5 euros per month man or atleast use your 4 months free trial as a Samsung user. Youtube is the greatest media/music platform in our age, they deserve the money.

I installed it with root over original YouTube so I don't have this problem (I don't have an S23).

On Samsung phones rooting will void warranty and some features will stop working (although you can probably restore them using some Magisk modules).

I used to love rooting my phones. But years ago alot of the things I used root for either got non-root options or were just no longer needed. Samsung started locking everything down around the same time and I don't think root is even achievable anymore for US variants?

C'mon man if this was like for an indie developer, hell yeah I'd pay. But this is GOOGLE. I'm pretty sure they don't need my $$$

As far as I know, you can't unlock the bootloader on US variants so you can't do root.

Yeah I knew that was the case a few years ago so I figured nothing's changed.

OK guys, I think I've decided it's time to move on from Samsung Internet AND Chrome. Just discovered Vivaldi, Vanced Links work and I'm digging it so far. Any other browser recommendations?

[VIDEO] Hulu Fix for CM9 Android on the HP Touchpad

Some content like the Modern Family on their homepage does freeze after the adds using ICS+ browser.
http://www.hulu.com/watch/332079/modern-family-virgin-territory
That same video played in Maxthon for tabs plays but it is choppy. It doesn't freeze. "The Middle" was choppy in Max too. Didn't try in ICS+. I don't have time to test today.
Other content does play smooth. Not sure what the difference is between that Modern Family and others that play smooth. I dont use Hulu plus.
I'm not looking for support. I saw that others have posted comments on the youtube site about freezing. I just thought I would point it out in case others post about this problem.
Works great...now has anyone been able to get HBO GO to work?
Sent from my cm_tenderloin using Tapatalk
I would think that this fix would also help with HBO Go.
Screen keeps blanking out- Hulu on Touchpad CM9
Hello Reverend,
First of all, I must say your videos are very detailed and easy for a non-techie like myself to understand! Thanks.
Last night, following your instructions, I successfully updated my touchpad to finally view Hulu (reference: [VIDEO] Hulu Fix for CM9 Android on the HP Touchpad)..herein lies the problem...
When I enlarge the screen, the video portion goes blank after about three seconds, but the audio remains on. Is there something I need to adjust? Please help. It's great to watch Hulu, but a small screen is not the best way. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
mark
Works...
Can confirm screen goes black for a second or so leaving the audio running so A/V becomes barely noticably off sync..
Good find though..
thanks OP.. uh Rev..
=o)
Thank you, Rev. It worked for me using root explorer and no PC.
HBO GO
I wish it did work with HBO GO but I get the same Message upon starting the AP non supported version of android. Hope someone can solve this. Netflix, Hulu, Crackle all work great. Just not HBO GO...

This. We need ics_hulu_flash_hack11.1.112.61 because ics_hulu_flash_hack11.1.115.7 isn't working.
ics_hulu_flash_hack11.1.115.7 works fine here with the latest flash and browser in desktop mode. Follow the directions in Rev's video .
You can get it here

Well I get that too and I have AdFree installed. You just have to wait until the timer counts down. There is a little timer at the top of the video. It should say
Ad 1 of 2 00:30
Then
Ad 2 of 2 00:30
Wait until they are done and it should play. You wont see any ad.
I do notice that it sometimes gets stuck on 00:01. Just try again.
lol thanks i saw that and was like omg it's not working. Trying to set this up for my mom and thanks!

MetroTube Vs. Tubemate Application Review Request

One of the greatest Android applications I've ever used is Tubemate. The ability to download YT videos in the size I want is extraordinary. The WP application I hear the most about is MetroTube. What I really would like to see is a head to head versus the two applications in a video. Does anyone have a WP8 device and an Android laying so we can see a shootout?

Well, I started using the apps, and let me give you a quick rundown
Tubemate:
-Review in progress-
Metrotube:
-App taken down due to backend problems-
Will do a WP8 version review once its back up
Devices I'm using to review the apps
Tubemate: Motorola Atrix 2
Metrotube: HTC Windows Phone 8X
Video used:
Gangnam Style
Thanks for the comparison and the write up. I really thought Metrotube allowed for downloads for offline viewing?
That feature is currently in the latest beta.

Tweet 'em @metrotube or just send them an email (you can find the address on their twitter stream somewhere) and they will let you in on the fun - if they still need testers!
Post will be updated at the request of the dev of TubeMate.
Meh, MetroTube doesn't even play videos on my 8x anymore. No videos load.. I just click play and the thumbnail blinks and goes back as if I never even clicked play.

Thats because Google made some changes again, third party apps like Metrotube and Tubemate have to be changed because of this- give it time, it's not their fault.

Spoofing device to install apps "not available" for your phone

I found a thread on XDA earlier that was a way of getting market apps that weren't available for your device without editing build.prop but I can't find it now. I figured this might be helpful for others as well with the S4.
The app I am trying to install is a Canon camera operation app:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=jp.co.pixela.cameraaccess&hl=en
This app is incompatible with all of your devices.

The link you posted is for CameraAccess, though your post says Canon camera operation app.......
When I click on the link and view in browser, it tells e it's available. However, when I search it does not come up. I went to the online play store into my settings and it seems that play store has it listed as a Nexus, but when I go to search for the link that you posted, it does not come up.

This is actually an official Canon Vixia app to operate their camcorders. But I can't get it working. when I search on my phone it doesn't show up either assuming that is because it isn't available on my device.

[Q] Internet browser not prompting for video player - Kitkat 4.4.2

Hello everyone,
I'm coming from a Galaxy S2 running ICS. When I would click to play a video from the default internet browser, I would get prompted for the video player. I'm assuming that it has something to do with flash compatibility? In any case, I really liked this behavior since I could choose MX player (stream) or Internet (download). This was very handy and I would love to be able to have that functionality on my new device.
I'm now using a Galaxy S4 running KitKat 4.4.2 and it seems that all videos play inline and I can't choose any other apps. Is there a way to get that functionality back?
Thanks for any insight you may have!
Nope. Android killed all flash plug-ins and apps are now made to play videos inline. Not to mention the option to download was breaking alot of rules.

Say it aint so!! Should this have been working in ICS? I'm wondering because if it's been disabled since before ICS, maybe I can still find a way around this...?

You might be able to get around this by using outdated apks from before they started using the inbuilt browsers but be warned that if you download the videos google has the right to term you account. Other then that there is nothing you can do. Flash has been dead for a long time now.

haha, just tried it myself. It happens to me too when I use the Samnsung browser. But not when I use the chrome or Firefox (with adblock), But I do notice that my chrome browser shared my name with the site. So now the TimesOfIndia says Welcome Alle090 (but using my real name)
And the website is doing allot or reloads. It could be that there is something that the website is doing.
So, Try Firefox and with adblock (Firefox extension)?
