Jabra 250 BT Headset Sounds Faraway - MDA II, XDA II, 2060 ROM Development

Hi,
I recently upgraded my ROM to version 2.06, radio 1.18 and used Sins Ext Rom version 3.5. Since the upgrade, when I use by Jabra 250 BT handsfree, people are complaining that i sound faraway or on the other side of the room when i talk. I can hear others fine. I never had this issue with my 1.60 rom that came installed with the phone.
I actually have 2 of the Jabra 250 and tried bonding with both devices to rule out a hardware error with the hands free itself and the problem occurs with both units.
I did have Pocket Bluetooth tools installed at one point and removed the program from my device and that is the only thing i can think of that might have screwed with the Radio or the BT.
Anybody out there have any ideas,
Thanks,
Danny

Hi Danny,
I did the upgrade this week end.
I have the same problem.

Hi,
New upgrade to Rom 2.20
The bt Jabra works ok.

Heya Universed,
I had the same problem when I bought my BT250, I realised that why I sounded so far away was because the headset's mic was disabled and my voice was being picked up by the XDA mic.
There are a few forum topics regarding loss of mic depending on ROM version.
I am using ROM 2.06, radio 1.18 and sins EXT rom 3.5, but I am using pocket blue tooth tools and only bonding the 250 as a headset (there are work-arounds for handsfree but the 250 doesn't seem to like them ie the mic gets disabled).
I haven't yet been able to have a handsfree solution for my 250 though hopefully a proper (not converted) ROM 2.20 may solve this.
Craig.

Well,
I ended up reflashing my ROM and building everything over from scratch and the problem has gone away. So there must be some sort of configuration issue between the 2.06 ROM and other 3rd party software that I had installed.
This time around i have yet to install Pocket Blue Tooth Tools and have yet to reisntall Voice Command 1.5. So don't really know the underlying cause but have rectified the problem just for today.
I like the idea of upgrading to 2.20 Rom but i am understand there is no English version out for my Asia copy O2? Lemme know ifI I am incorrect on that count?
Thanks,
Danny

What ROM for XDAII (Australian User)

Should I stick with 1.66.00WWE or move to the 1.7X ROM??????
Also what type of Bluetooth head sets are you all using, any specific recommendations or success??
Thanks!
I'm still using the 1.66.00WWE that came with my device.
I'm using the O2 Bluetooth headset and have had no problems with it at all - voice quality is fantastic, battery seems to last for ages and I've never lost bonding...
I've been working in Malaysia for the past 4 years and about to return to Sydney. I have the 1.66.00WWE that came with my device and will probably keep it.
I'm using a Logitech BT headset and thought it is bigger than the SE-HBH 60 I had previously it is a lot more comfortable to wear, sounds clearer (to me and the person on other end of call) and has a longer battery life.
Very happy with it.
Ed
Thanks guys, appreciated.
Im in Melb, using 1.72.00
I havent had any problems with it, but I dont use BT headset, I do use a BT GPS quite a lot and have had no problems.
But I havent noticed that upgradeing from 1.66 really added anything worth while either. As I havent had any problems Im not going to downgrad either, but I would not recomend upgrading unless you are having some particular problem until the SE version finally comes out.
Just remember you are using Optus network, and I think after you upgrade you do require some patch in order for you GPRS to work.
Gee, guys, you're all well ahead of me... I'm still runnning mine with the 1.60.00WWE (ex. ROM 1.60.44)... wonder when I'll see an upgrade...
Besider the older version - everything's fine
I ended up trying both a Belkin and also Motorola head-set. Both had very poor quality for the inbound direction of the call, filled with crackle and echo.
My outbound direction is fine........
Anyone got a suggestion?

BT headset and WM2003SE problem

I have been using WM2003SE for almost 2 weeks now, and I am very satisfied with it.
I have one problem though with the BT headset. The BT headset AND the speaker on the phone is always on, when in a call. It has the advantage of being able to make conversations in stereo (phone on one ear and headset on the other) Apart from that, it is rather annoying because it seems like the microphone in the phone is the only active microphone (the receiving end is complaining of difficulties of hearing me, when I get away from the phone).
How do I become able to switch between the phone and the headset again?
BT headset: Jabra 250
PDA: Qtek 2020
ROM: 2.02.t1WWE
Radio: 1.18.00
Protocol: 1337.38
ExtROM: 1.72.125 (not sure witch)
Regards Steen
i'm using jabra 200 and works fine with me. try pairing again with the device.. it might works
Thank you for the sugestion - but I have tried that - without any luck
/Steen
I'm having this problem too with my motorola HS810 headset.
I'm sure it wasn't like this at first though. I've installed bluetooth tools and tried re-pairing, everything I can think of (except a hard reset - I guess thats next though).
What apps do you have installed, perhaps we have some in common and that's causing the problem?
This never happen to 220CHS
I'm getting the same issue with my HBH-600!
The CHS ROM, i thought this was Chinese....can i install as english?
Different ROMs
Hi guys!
Looks like some of you are using two different ROM versions, 2.02t and 2.06.
Only the first one supports, finally! the hands free profile, with the inconvenience of playing "stereo" when a headset is identified as "hands free".
The 2.06 version, does not support handsfree at all, so I discarded it after a bit of testing in my machine.
(Can't help with CHS versions, sorry)
For more info read my thread in BT carkits.
Hope it helps.
Had the same problem. After 3 hard resets and trying a different BT headset I finally found that installing Bluetooth Tools fixed the problem. will try it out tomorrow and see if it works OK.

jabra bt250

Anyone has any experience with the jabra bt250? I was wondering if it would work with our XDA IIs. I THINK it would but I am hesitant to cough up $$ just to see. The jabra website doesn't even have the XDA IIs up at all and they aren't returning my emails.
Hi,
I have a MDAIII and the Jabra BT250 and it works allright... I am not to pleased about the distance you can put your phone to (about 1-1.5" meter) for excellent sound.
YES
I originally got a Jabra FS-258 on a trip to Singapore last October. It was the best brand on review everywhere and I was looking to play around with bluetooth on a SE T68i -- worked great. On an upgrade to the SE K700i seems I lost the single touch call functionality (must be the phone firmware). I'm not using it with my XDA and it works fine except for the initial noise as reported here -
http://www.my-xda.com/downloads/Other_Bluetooth.pdf
The work around is easy. On initial pairing you'll hear the noise as the Jabra tries out to interface, press the Jabra's talk on/off button to disengage. Succeeding calls have been clear at least for me. I was using the old 1900 drivers.
Have now just upgraded to the official 3500 drivers but have not had time to re-test changes. Will post here sometime or if anyone asks again....
On another note, I'm also looking for a way to extend music up the Jabra in other forums. Anyone found the link or the correct way to upgrade the ROM, etc?
I recently charged up the headset with the 3500 patch and voila! no initial noise!
Will continue to do tests this week and mention if it returns or something else.
Now, on to having music piped through it .....
Doesn't work for me
Hi,
You guys are having more luck than me. I have an M2000 from Orange UK. The Jabra 250 will pair with the phone, but when it tries to connect it just times out. Any idea why?

Click to collapse
what's your jabra and rom build versions? have you upgraded the bluetooth stack (links are all over the place for the 3500).
I don't know any details about the Jabra, apart from that it is a freespeak 250 which I bought the other day from "The Link" in York (England).
I have installed:
OEM_WWE_124_008.sa.CAB
OEM_Patche_12100401.sa.CAB
I got the links from:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=15078
Now the headset will connect, but with really poor sound quality. It's strange, I get a better signal when the phone is facing away from the headset, but even then it's only useable at a max range of about 2 feet.
Jabra 250 problems
Hi everyone!
I'm new here.
I just purchased iMate PDA2K EVDO (CDMA) and paired it with my Jabra 250 with no problems. Made a few calls, it worked perfectly.
On that first day, my battery died completly. When I charged the battery, Jabra couldn't connect with iMate.
I wiped it of from the list of paired devices, and tried unsuccesfully to pair it again, and again, and again.
Called support and did a SW reset, but still was unable to pair the Jabra afterwards.
Anyone knows what's going on and how to tackle the problem?
I've been told that I have the leatest SW version
ROM version: 2.03.00 WWE
ROM date: 12/15/04
Radio version: HA01_140
Protocol version: AA3.3.301
PRL version: 00205
ExtROM version: 2.03.111 WWE
Hardware version: 0041
p.s. I can't for some reason put my iMate details on my profile.
Cheers

Jabra 250 headset is fine, been using it for a few weeks now.
However when you lose pairing, try this:
Remove the pairng from the blue angel, switch the Jabra 250 off, switch the jabra back on and HOLD it for about 8 seconds untill the light is blue constantly. Now pair it again in the bluetoth manager and enter the pin-code 0000. Should be fine.
PS If you can, upgrade to the 1.10.00 Radio and bluetooth 3900. It killed the static crackle for me, before I was having earaches.

Exact Procedure to Bond XDA IIs to Jabra FS 258
Hi Guys,
I'm so frustrated already I wanna stomp my Jabra. I have loaded the new broadcomm 3900 BT driver and I still can't get my FS 258 to bond to my IIs. Can someone provide me an idiot's guide please? It just won't authenticate with my FS 258 no matter what settings I configure!
Thanks alot!
Bah!
Followed all this and my bt250 still crackles big style on an o2 xda iis.

Jabra 250/Himalaya Compatability Issue

I have had ongoing problems getting my Jabra 250 to work with my XDA II ever since i upgraded to ROM 2.06.00 WWE, Radio: 1.18 and ExtROM: SIN.AU.v3.5. I could neve figure out the issue so stopped using the handsfree a few months ago but currently have renewed inspiration to get to the bottom of this.
From what i have seen in all the forums, I need to pair my Jabra 250 into headset mode instead of handsfree mode. When I do this, my XDA does not recognize the Jabra. When I change the Jabra to Handsfree mode, the XDA then sees the device bBut when I talk, the mic on the handfree is defeated and i have to talk directory into the mic on the phone. I have tried BT tools to know avail.
So my question is,
1. Is this a hardware compatiblity issue between the 2 devices where I can solve the problem by puchasing another brand of handsfree. If so, anybody have a good suggestion of what brand handsfree is compatible?
2. Is this a software problem where my bluetooth stack is corrupted or something like that and if so,is there some way to upgrade or fix without having to upgrade Rom and/or ExtROM?
Thanks,
Danny
hi universed, you can try to install Widcomm BT stack instead of MS BT stack.
buzz
Hey Buzz,
Where can I find the newest version of the Widcomm stack and is there a thread somewhere on xda-developers.com that talks about how to install and if there are any caveats or stuff I have to watch out for.
I saw something from February but it appeared the files were incomplete and folks were having their machines freeze?
Thanks,
Danny
Widcomm BT Stack Concerns
Hey,
I have been reading all the forums regarding the Widcomm BT stack and it seems like most folks attempting to make the upgrade are finding loads of problems, attempting lots of unsusesssful registry hacks and a handful of people attempting this solution have ended up having to do a hard reset?
I also saw a line in of the replys stating "I don't think it's going to make any difference on our XDA II device. AFH stands for "Adaptive Frequency Hoping" and it's only available in Bluetooth v1.2. XDA II has bluetooth v1.1 so it does not support AFH." Not sure exactly what that means but if the problem is inherrent in the hardware and can't be overcome, I would rather not mess with a device that is working just the way I want it except for the BT handsfree problem?
Does anyone have any direct and successful experience upgrading to the Widcomm BT stack on the XDA II and then resolving the specific issue I mentioned above,
Confused,
Danny
I wonder if attempting to upgrade to Buzz's WM2005 will solve the problem (And not create too many other problems)?
Danny
Getting Mighty lonely in this topic, think I am going to take my himalaya and go home.

SX56 no sound whatsoever!

I don't get it, my sx56 has no sound at all , diagnostics audio work perfectly, once out of diagnostics it won't play any sounds, would this be a firmware or hardware problem knowing that i can't hear people callling me and they can't hear me either!
Any clues lads!!!
many thanks

before you flash your wallaby make SURE! that you do it with the right type of radiostack 900/1800 vs. 900/1900 or you can brick it for good

many thanx GENIOUSES
Just unzip the exe and you should get the Files to run on the Walalby.....
Stefan
that's it problem sorted ! just realised that i had to put the RSu update in the windows file of my XDA.
Now i need to sort out the sound problem, if i got it right , at the moment i do not have any sound at all but if the headphones are working , does this mean that thhe fault is coming from the speaker and microphone,in other hands if the headphone isn't working then does that mean that it's the sound chip(UDA1341).
Or should i just change the lot full stop( sound chip, speaker and microphone) ??
many thanx

minijack detect connector issue
Very nice thank you mate, but it doesn't tell me if my deductions are making sense, would changing the lot sort my problem?
many people have reported that their detect wiredheadset spring
in their minijack getting stuck so
the device believe there is a headset connected
all the time and will then not use the normal speaker at all
some report having it solved by inserting the 2.5mm minijack and pulling fast out a few times
others seem to have to resort to changing the connector which include the spring
so the fact that both speaker and microphone not working could be link to a faulty headset connector?
sounds like a suspect
well, that's it , sound problem sorted this morning!!!
i just used a 2.5 mm jack and played along with it and guess what!!
It 's working !!
At last a PDA fully fonctionnal!
many thanx to this great community!!
