NEW ATOM ROM ! - iPAQ rw6828, XDA Atom Software Upgrading

When is O2 going to release a new rom for the atom ?
i am dying to know what will they improve.. i just hope they :
1) enable quadband
2) make wifi g
3) stereo bt with a2dp FULL support (no hissing sound)
4) make the unit faster and compatible with wisbar advance 2.
if they make all that would be perfect.
:arrow:

It's impossible to make atom become quadband and wifi G, coz the hardware that installed in atom only support triple band and wifi B.
And for WA2...use the latest WA2, it's works on atom

You make me laugh :twisted: "Enable 802.11G & Quad Band"...May be ask them to enable 4mpx in camera,VGA resolution in the screen,3g communication,624Mhz processor,4gb Flash,2500Mah battery,TV Tuner and more...
Its hardware,its can't be "enabled" if device's hardware does not support this futures

Not to mention using "NEW ATOM ROM!" in caps as the message subject. I actually thought a new ROM was out. :evil:

Your title is pretty misleading bro! :shock:

You can say that again chrisani!!!

You can say that again chrisani!!!

Is there an echo here?

...echo here?

...echo here? :wink: Moderators, please kill or at least lock this thread, it keeps popping up and annoys people thinking that there's actually a new ROM out.

V2 is due out soon - v 1 was almost perfect - faster, less buggy and all round better than the HTC version.

Sorry to be asking this, can you be more specific on the improved speed? I understand that in V1.0 page pool size was the same as standard ROM, so how is it possible to have improvement in speed? If it is the regular registry tweaks I'm doubtful that it will have any noticeable difference compared to standard ROM.
I have tried out the applications such as HTC X button and agree that the application were poorly chosen. In fact, it will be my preference to NOT remove any standard application such as Opera, and not add any new application at all. I personally think that it an 'improved' set of application is a 'deproved' to another. I hate the green theme for comm mgr and audio manager, but others want to keep it. I like pBar over HTC X button, but others think otherwise. I want to remove voice commander but others hate microsoft voice command. Therefore we should not add or remove any application as this could only introduce bugs and instability.
Speaking of bugs, I don't find the standard ROM buggy at all. On the contrary, there were quite a few reports of bug in version 1.00, which hopefully will be addressed in version 2.
The only common denominator for all, is improved speed. If we want to add anything else, it will be the black theme, real vga, and dpi resource packs, and plenty more icons.
The most important thing that I look for in the ROM is speed. All others I could easily customise by myself, including registry performance tweaks, which unfortunately could yield only marginal, if noticeable speed improvement. I could be wrong, but I got the impressi that dramatic speed improveme is best achieved by changing the page pool size.
Another thing that I observed is that it is not uncommon for us to declare a new ROM 'blazing fast' minutes after we've loaded it. In fact, when you try it out, you don't feel the same way.
Without that noticeable speed improvement, I won't rush into voiding my warranty.
Just saying what I honestly think.
It is all subjective - I love the apps in V1 and am sure V2.0 ( due out any tilme now!) will be even better) these guys know what they are doing and have listened to the comunity which, of course, means it's a consensus and so may not suit you. I am not a hacker and so am comparing the speed to the standard ROM with NO speed tweeks.
I don't know what they've done, but for someone like myself, who just wants to install a new ROM and have the best (by consensus) apps and speed PK Black Touch is the way to go. If you are willing to do your own tweaking you can cook yor own but I'm a lazy sod (I'll blame laziness rather than stupidity) so I love the Black Touch ROM.
If you want something different and know what you are doing there is nothing stopping you.
As for warranty, IMHO here in the UK, the first thing they do is a factory reset and flash with the latest official ROM - they don't even check to see what was on it and 'probablly' wouldn't know how to see if it was CID unlocked - I've never had a problem - but then I don't have a warranty on my Ameo so that's easy for me to say.
Good luck.
its already out(2.0)

what this the best rom for the moment

hi
i have 2 question please
1-what is the best rom for the moment and how i can choise one
2- why prophet did not have a radio FM like some other phone and can i install it on my prophet (S200)
thanks very much
I'm no expert - I just did my first rom upgrade yesterday, but the prophet touch VII ROM is the most recent release on here, and it worked great for me. Just follow the installation guide linked to at the top of the page, then at step 5 or so, grab the 'step 2' file (only) from the app page to get the upgrade.bat file. It's really quite easy! The instructions are easy to follow if you look at the read me files and read the instructions on the DOS prompts.
The Prophet doesn't have an FM radio chip built in and there's no way to add it in, but you may be able to find an accessory with FM radio.
As concerning most recent, I think Transformer 1.0 actually came 2 hours later, so that wins out.
And I think it is the Transformer.

Heh. I think that's considered a parallel release - actually, according to the iiiox on the transformer thread "VO8en (18508), Prophet Touch V7 (18125), Crystal V1 (18125) and PDAViet Transformer V1(17944) are all released on the same day!"
So chances are any of those ROMS would be good - guess it comes down to personal preference
edit: actually Transformer does look very good - I'm going to give it a shot.
I would say , Crystal V2 5.2.1908 Build: 18508.0.7.0

Hi there,
I think for WM6, there is no best ROM since each ROM has own advantages and bugs.
For the best ROM is the original ROM from the provider, of course it is WM5 ROM.
From my Experiences :
1. THe best ROM for Battery life : PDAVIET 4.0.0.0.5b
2. The fastes ROM : Evo8en
3. The stable ROM : Crystal V1
4. THe great application ROM : Gullum Prophet VII
5. The Lite ROM : TNT5
you can choose one of them as your requirement.
Thanks
Best rom?
I did tried at the beginning:-
Fantastic B4,
then EVO6,
then PDAviet 4006,
then EVO7,
then prophet VI,
then EVO7.1,
then Transformer 1,
then EVO8test,
then Crystal V1,
then EVO8en,
then Prophet VII,
then EVO8en.....
NOW testing TNT5 with Omap-264 MHz....... not bad so far.... (20070920)
well, all nice, with spectacular numbers of outstanding, but, personally I love Youzii ( EVO series) more.. ^_^, I did measure on performance in efficiency, stability, battery drainage status, ram counts, appearance and chef's heart! ^_^
I tried Transformer and Prophet Touch VII, and both are good ROMs, i use gullums VII, because i found it a little more stable and faster. But this question can´t really get one answer...all newer ROMs are good and have options, which can be attractive for one user, and another won´t like them.
Some like the cube and touch flo, others want to have more free space.
Very good are the integrated prophet drivers in the newer roms of pdaviet and gullum, because some bugs of the earlier versions were solved.
I am not the opinion that the original files are the best ones.The wm6-ROMs runs faster, with gullum functioned the automatic configuration for my net outstanding.
The O2 Rome on my XDA Neo was ponderous and had also errors...and wm5 from MS is buggy as wm6, not all is a problem of gullum or pdaviet.
hahaaah...
good luck finding the answer! try them all and make your choice. personally, I like cloudyfa's roms. good mix of built in apps and stability without many bugs.
I'm running transformer now.
I liked TNT5 professional so much, it contains a lot of stuffs that realy will not let you search for more add on applications, it is stable also, and the most important for me is the smart dialler one that is showing the last dialled numbers on top of search results, it is so productive and let me reach my wanted persond so quickly rather than any other diallers. This dialler that pushed me to upgrade from Gullum touch flo VII to TNT.
tahnks for all reply but what about Radio FM and can any body integreted it in some rom
Prophet doesn't have the hardware for FM Radio. go buy a walkman if you need to listen to radio.
good idea
thanks for remember me

when will it be released?
I'm testing the TNT5 at the moment after GULLUM VII and TRANSFORMER and CRISTAL V1.
TNT5 is the best at the moment, because of the speed, the applications, the car charging, the internet navigation. Maybe the battery drain is a little bit more than the other, but I'm not sure yet.
My personal opinion goes to the Transformer 1.0 rom.. it has everything i need .. It is actually the only rom i know where the danish T9 library is included ! And danish is also in the network wizard.. I only had two bugs.. The clock not showing in tittle bar, and wlm didn't show contacts after first logon, but those are both fixed.. For me this is THE rom.. And i don't think i would change anymore..

Newbie question: opinions on which ROM?

Hi all,
I've been looking around the threads for a while now and while I'm excitedly waiting for my U1000 which I just bought on ebay I'm wondering if people have an opinion on which ROM to use. Are there pro's and cons on each or is it just mostly visual?
So far I've been reading about Black Dual by PK 3.0, AP ROM v4.0, v3.0 and the older Black one.
I thought it would be simply a case of going for the latest but that doesn't seem to be the case. The 4.0 and Black Dual seem to be the same age but don't seem to be the same. Is one better then the other? Does one suit a different use case better than another?
Thanks for any guidance.
Before deciding which ROM, I felt it will be safer to use your newly bought U1000 for awhile to ensure set stability and it’s characteristic. Then when you flash other ROM, you will have better understanding of your set.
PK is the head chef for the Athena Project (AP) it is not PK Dual 3 it is AP Dual 3 and it came out a long time before AP4 which is based on the 7510 ROM and is, by far, the latest and greatest.
AP4 is the one to go for IMHO.
The answer is always the same in ICT: the best is the second release of the latest so AP 4.1 (some bug fix, more ram and more system resources, may latest opera, and ..., SPL with a way to go back to the standard one, just in case). I am still using AP2 on mine but AP3 also works fine

How come you're still on AP2 if you don't mind me asking?
I thought I may just defualt to the latest and greatest and go with AP 4.1 but the black dual screen shots look nice and I like some of the Dual Touch features that seem to have been added to that one (I'm guessing they're not in the AP4?).
If it's the 7510 ROM does that mean the front camera on my U1000 won't work as the 7501/10 don't have a vga camera?

I haven't checked the video call application but in the camera application the Front Camera could'nt be used. In AP2, in the camera application, I have the front camera too
Video call doesn’t exist in AP3 and 4 unless the dial skin has the video button.
About the Front Camera (secondary VGA videocall camera), if that is what you are referring to,
can be activate from camera application top centre 3 buttons, on the left.

OOOPS! I haven't fully checked the camera app, I checked it now also in standard resolution. Yes, it has the video call feature, just uncheck "disable phone skin" button in REALVGA (and use the 192 DPI resolution)
If you leave the phone skin enabled in 96 or 128 DPI you can't check the number you are dialing, because the SKIN isnt' designed for 128 or 96 DPI.
But you STILL have video call feature
Video calls working great!
After reading, today I untick the “disable phone skin” on Real VGA before switch to other dpi.
Surprised to find in both dpi 192 and 128, I have the video button and can make video calls.
Video was clear and sharp provided the other party stay put.
Very happy to find it working wonderfully, many thanks to the AP teams.
Thanks sergiopi, otherwise I may still thinking it it not availabe.
Oh, why there is the need to tick the "disable phone skin" in the first place?
Find it strange way to disable a feature which is available all the time.

I found the reason today, bad experience with the video button available.
Contact name list and keyed phone number most of the time not shown.
Revert back to normal, without video button...sign.
I think it's sort of worse now
I have seen so many choices, vanilla 3, black dual, AP2,3,4 ahhhhh.
I might just try the stock one with the spb or whatever that add on is called and see how i go for a while.
p.s. what's an SPL?

[Q] Custom ROM on Chinese dual-SIM fake phone?

Hi!
I'm planning on buying a Chinese copy of HD2. I'm not concerned that it's 100% fake and build quality is not on par with real HTC, cause I really need the dual SIM functionality.
My questions are:
1. can it be SID-unlocked (does it have to be?)
2. will any of the custom WWE ROMs install and run on it?
3. will both SIMs be visible in any custom ROM or do I have to install a specific ROM which supports dual SIM dual standby functionality?
Whoever got to play with these Chinese phones, please let me know!
Thank you!
im pretty sure that it wont even rom stock windows mobile 6.5 i think there will be stock chinese software wich isnt even a smartphone
@ dim4x4
the Oboe Phone is a dual SIM with WM6.5, if u get ur Clone Phone and u can get the ROM dumped, edited and reflashed. i beleive u will be able to make a custom ROM.
WBR
Siemens Lover
there r chinese clones out there with windows mobile 6.5 running but most of the clones i've seen are not even smartphones... they r running chiinese software made to look like winmo. and some runs a chinese special system derived/modified from the latest windows CE builds.
oh ya and definately you cant use any of the roms designed for real HD2 coz the hardware and bios design was diff.
Just grab a (HTC) HD2 and another cheap phone from Ebay if You really need to use 2 sim cards . Thats what I did. You can buy a small handy SE W880i for like 15 pounds in uk and it also supports 3G network. Dont buy a China copy or You will get stuck with a crap phone that can easly develop a fault. Its not worth Your money.

1. Yes , it can but there´s no need for
2. Google for it. If you detect a custom ROM for that special device you might test it. I suppose there isn´t. And never, never try to flash a ROM for another device. It would certainly brick your phone
3. It depends on your luck to find a ROM for that special device. Otherwise see 2.
Thanks for the advice, guys! Will let you know how it goes.
Hi Dim,
I bought one of these chinese phones... for my chinese wife (because these chinese phones look so cool)
First it's plastic in bad quality! you will get scratches by your fingernails!
Second, the audio quality for talking on caller and receipient side were worse. The speakers are in bad quality: mp3 bad, talking bad, listening bad.
Third, signal strength must be high to work. Often you lose your signal and can't call anyone.
All in one, i can say, that you waste your money. Mine looks like a iPhone 4, but thats all you have on pro's side. On con's side the three points i wrote above.
I bought a new mobile, galaxy from Samsung, and my wife is healed from thinking that the chinese mobiles could be better in any aspect.
Hope this will stop you from buying this crap!
hi
most of people who reply on you,they dont know anything at all about smart chinese phone
and about flashing rom to chinese smart phones will require differant software depends on cpu, because chinese usally use hisillicon cpu or MTK cpu,so when you decide to buy just ask for condation that they send you software and rom.and have fun with cheap and great quilty,and if you decide to buy some model you can ask here for advice
Hi,
With me the same. Still the proud owner of a HTC Universal. I need a "Dual SIM Standby" and came across this chinese vendor. Here are the specs:
-Dual sim card dual standy
-CPU: Huawei Hisilicon K3533, 533MHz,could updated to 600MHz;
-2G ROM+2G bits RAM;
-Windows mobile system 6.5 and Android 2.2(Optional)
-GSM EDGE 850/900/1800/1900
-Support TF card up to 16GB;
-5.0M pixels wtih double cameras;
-WLAN/WI-FI 802.11b/g; *GPS Navigation;
-Support G-Sensor function;
-Support Microsoft Office word/excel/powerpoint etc and email;
-Support IM:MSN,SKYPE,facebook,twitter,OICQ,QQ etc;
-4.3inch WQVGA Touch screen,65,000colors,400x800 pixels;
-Connection:Bluetooth 2.0,WI-FI,EDGE,Active Sync and USB2.0;
-JAVA 2.0, GPRS class 10 and WAP2.0;
-Video Format:3GP,MP4,AVI,ASF,WMV,RM ect;
-Music Format:MP3,WMA,WAV,AMR,ect;
-Photo Format:Jpg,gif,png,BMP,Flash ect;
-Ringtone Format:MP3,WMA,AMR and WAV;
-2PCS Lithium-ion rechargeable Batteries:1650mAh/3.7V;
-Dimensions: 107x51x13mm, 128g weight
So, indeed the CPU is not a 1 GHz Snapdragon™-prosessor, but 533 Mhz Hisilicon. But look at the 2G ROM and 2 Gb RAM! Wonder if this is for compensating on the lower CPU?
But here is the thing. I am not a real "Flasher". I basically kept my Universal as-is, and installed a shell on top to have a new look. I started playing around with new ROMs just to improve the available memory on ROM and RAM.
The question is in this case if most of my WM5 apps will work on this Chinese phone? Second question is then, like "@latersooner" says, who on XDA can assist in flashing Chinese ROMs?
Maybe a suggestion could be to have a seperate entry on the forum list "Chinese clones" or something? Just an idea. I see that they are ahead of the competition in Europe, releasing both dual, 3 and 4 SIM phones, both Windows, Android and other (Symbian?).

Absolutely agree. Do your research first guys! There are some very interesting Chinese smartphones out there. If you're only looking for cheap imitation, yes, you're bound to be disappointed.
Having said that, China manufacturers are now starting to make dual sim Android smartphones with excellent specs. Only thing missing is 3G. Must say, I don't really miss it. 2G is fine for social media updates and email. Only for heavy surfing you need 3G.
I'm very pleased with the Flying Star FG8 I bought recently
I have a lot of information on chinese models star A2000, A1000, A5000 and will be making a thread shortly covering everything I know including rooting, fixes, roms and recovery.
i agree , this phone have bad speker and bad accesories

Chinese not-fake phones
I live in Africa. There's a brand that is very widespread here called TECNO - Chinese. Several of their phones run Android, the later models being the N3 and N7.
I bought an N3 out of curiosity - at $94 it did not seem to be a big risk. It supports 2 SIMs, one 3g, and the other vanilla. Seems to work OK as an Android phone (Gingerbread). My only real criticism is the camera, which tends to produce purple pictures in bright lighting.
It seems quite well made. I have been able to root it, and can get to it normally via ADB and Fastboot. I've written a few small applications and everything seems to work as expected. However, I have not been able to find a CWM recovery for it that works, and so far have not seen a ROM that claims to support 2 SIMS.
A single SIM phone is a liability here in Tanzania. There's one operator - Airtel - who can do 3G at a reasonable price, but their calls are expensive. The others are GSM, but what everyone you know uses for normal telephony.
So even if I could find a CWM recovery, and flash CyanogenMod, I'd be robbing myself. Why is the rest of the world stuck on this single SIM thing?
