To all the Prophet ROM Chefs, modders, testers, etc..... - JAMin, XDA Neo, S200 ROM Development

I wanted to tell you guys that you're all amazing!
I "escaped" the WM world only just 1 year ago when I sold my Prophet (which I had tenderly customized for many many years from the old WM5 days) when my work gave me a blackberry pearl.
Even though I've since ditched the blackberry and now have an iPhone 3G, my fondest memories still come from all the ROM hacking and slashing that was going on here... I could flash a rom and reinstall all my apps(and I had a lot!) and restore all the data within 2-3 hours... This included all the Registry edits, activesync connections, etc....
One of my biggest issues with all the custom ROMs I had tried over the years was always "consistency in UI". I don't mind the fact that the device was slow, or maybe A2DP wasn't working... but the different user interfaces that resulted in a custom ROM always bugged me. Adding the fact that WM was such an open book didn't help.
It's *very* impressive to see now that all the roms now have similar colour themes that extend into the main OS, matching keyboards, dialers, calculators, comm managers etc etc etc.... If you guys were doing what you're doing now a year ago, I certainly would not have sold my Prophet and who knows... Maybe I wouldn't even have my iPhone right now...
Even though I no longer have a WM device, I just want to say thanks to all the modders and chefs on this board for all the help and advice. Whenever someone asks me about what phone to get, I always recommend a WM device *BECAUSE* of xda-developers and you guys... You're seriously the single best thing that the WM world has right now. I think everyone would agree that WM would be a steaming pile of poo if xda-devs wasn't around.
Keep up the AMAZING work!

Agreed!!
I am also one of you, enjoying the free fruits from XDA......
Salute to all.

Athena Project Waves Goodbye

Well i believe i can finally make this announcment and say we have done our part in delivering the unlocks and roms and it was very fun while it lasted. our team has moved on to the newer vga and qvga devices. look for me personally to be in the touch hd forums work on roms there as long as i can get a device. as some saw my athena is for sale and if anyone is interested u can pm me or reply to the thread. was very nice knowing everyone and i hope to see most of you in the future on the newer devices. hopefully some of you will move to the touch hd and i will see you there.
good bye and good luck with your athenas. it was and still is one amazing device. sad to let her go but its time...
a sad day for the community.
(as if we won't bump on each other in the future.) lol.
take care pawel. and thanks for everything.
ciao!
AP4.0 BlueTooth Stack
It's sad to see you go, but it has been a long and fun ride. THe crowning glory for the team has been the release of AP4, despite all the troubles we've had with it. Michy is doing a stellar job in keeping our appetite's whet with his neverending ROM factory. I do have one final request if I may. The only thing that is keeping me from usin Michy's ROMs (or others for that matter) is the instability of the Bluetooth Stack. This was one area that AP Team hit on the head with AP4 Plat. Please, provide some guidance to Michy on the issue.
On a personal note, I may be following you to the Touch HD crowd when it does become avaiable.
Thank you for your great roms, wish you well and enjoy your HD.
still find AP dual 3.0 fantastic though now may be a little behind.
Your great contribution to this forum will never be forgotton!
Before switching to MichY's roms, I have been faithfully using your roms starting from PK 2 to AP4 for a very long period of time. All those roms ran fast and stable. Everyone of this forum will have the same saying as mine that "Your great contributions to this forum will never be forgotton!"
Hi there PK.
It has been a real slice working with you on the Athena project. We accomplished alot with it, and I am proud to be able to say that I was a part of it. I am currently helping Michy with his roms and still love my Athena.
Good luck with your new projects, and maybe we will work together again one day.
P.S. If you still have your Athena for sale, hit me up on messenger and we can talk about it. I wouldn't mind getting a second one....LOL
Later............... Ron
Ah well, it had to happen, what with all the sexy stuff HTC lately came up with.
Thank you and all the Athena Project Team for your hard work and dedication. I think it's safe to say that among all ROM cooks for the Athena, you guys were the Top Guns and actually MADE the Athena a great and, at last, really FULL-FEATURED PDA-Phone, revealing its true potential. AP ROM evolutions will be sorely missed for those among us who have no plan to change their beloved brick any time soon.
Small wondering on my part: do you favor the HD, as compared to the Raphael, solely because of its screen resolution, or is there something else ? Because I myself am starting to think about which one I'd go for "if I had the opportunity", and I was thinking that a built-in hardware keyboard would probably be more useful than the VGA-WVGA resolution gap...
Thanks for your answer, and once again, for everything !
And have fun with your next elite device, and see you then and there, maybe !

hd is closest to the athena so thats why. the screen is 3.8 and im going no smaller than the 3.5 in i have on my iphone. i love large screens then theres the 3.5 mm jack the hd has. i use the aux port in my car to listen to music from my iphone and used to from my athena. also the hd has a 5mp camera. with mp the sensor will be decent and bc of the resolution of the pics, most of them will look great on my laptop etc.. also about the keyboard... i been using on screen boards since i got my athena so im used to them and dont miss a hardware keyboard. specially with the smart keyboard on the iphone. wvga will just mean better showing of videos, better web browsing expirence etc..
Heh, thank you for your thourough answer, PK. And well, lol, you DID convince me, too. But since I'm a complicated bast*rd, I now am hesitating between the HD and Sony Ericsson XPeria X1...
But a WinMo without PK cooking ROMs ? Hard to imagine...
Hope you'll have lots of fun with your next device, and hope to try out your future cookies.

i have a friend who has a x1 already(bengalboy, maybe u heard of him?). from what i hear SE is still developing the software for it along with htc. hardware though is pretty final but no final software from what i know. i wouldn't expect it until 09 specially if u want usa 3g. the hd i will try to get and see if there is usa 3g hidden within. if not i'll sell it and wait for whats coming out afterwords and get that.

I hope we will see you cooking/modding for other devices.
Which one would you recommend to those who wants to buy a new device after using a prophet for a long time and retiring it?
Maybe this should be a new topic..
Dear Gullum, after more than 2 years of your great ROMs and invaluable insight and efforts, you will be missed. I understand about the time to move on... I also will move on as soon as I can afford my newest craving (Touch HD). I still love my Prophet after more than 3 years and countless ROMs. Hope to see you on the Forum cooking HD ROMs - maybe I'll have one within the next couple months
Cheers Mate!!
Thanks Gullum for your hard work. We see us in annother tread.
Thats so sad but i must agree since putting m2d on my prophet thats all my poor prophet can run but i must thank you for keeping it alive for so long and thank you for all your ported roms

Yes, thank you Gullum, for stretching the capabilities of the Prophet to the limit.
I too am thinking of replacing mine, but without your ROMs I would have had to take that decision about 12 months ago.

Some facts about my WM6.5 & WM6.1 work...

I'm now trying to cook WM6.5 ROMs... And I've been succeed. MWG Atom Life WM6.5 ROM WWE_063009_B2_DS has been finished and its build is 23001.5.0.60. It's still an official-like ROM but the Setup Wizard has been removed. But as it's a very earily version for testing purpose, I won't release it for you guys. The icons haven't been modified to be sized in 45 x 45 completely, and some conflicts happen unexpectedly. But thanks very much for chriscsh's helping hand anyway. And I'll released my initial WM6.5 public release within next week.
By the way, I'll do what I've promised before within this week. The kitchen of the final version of WM6.1(which is build 21051.1.6.4) will be released within these few days. A new version of the final ROM(which was MWG Atom Life WM6.1 ROM WWE_060109_B2_DS) and its O2 version will also be released. And if the situation is available, I'll work out the HTC-like ROM for final release.
that is very much appreciated, the HTC Version primarily

hi, dear aa125690,
1. For a F.5 student, your command in English is above average in HK ,
2. You are not stupid ,
3. How is your HKCEE going in this Swine-Flu atmosphere?
4. I am interested in your roms, too. May be I will learn from you soon.
5. do you mean that, 21051 is the end of WM6.1's version life?
6. Great works mate!
7. Nice to know you in XDA, may be we will bump on the street oneday
Cheers
Dear sir,
1. Yes, my English level is just a little bit above the average;
2. I always tell myself I'm stupid, to be more humble to learn everything;
3. The swine-flu didn't affect me much;
4. Are you interested in cooking Atom Life's ROMs?
5. I'm pretty sure that 21051 is the final build of WM6.1(but I'm not completely sure). The 21068 is a fake(I'm not completely sure for this either). All these infomation were collected in mainland's forums;
6. I always delay the releasing, I think my credit of releasing is somehow like Microsoft now...
7. So do I. But when we meet on the street, how can we make out each self?

Dear sir,
I'm a Kowloon guy. I'm now quite busy as I'm in a band called Uniqueen. I'm studying the scores of keyboard, therefore I'm not a full-time chef(I didn't choose to find a part-time job due to the same reason either).
I know you're a great member(I've searched), maybe a legend will be more appropriate to describe. It's good to meet other Hongkongers here, like chriscsh and you. But for a short meet, I dunno... I'm lazy to arrange going outside by myself, so if you force me, I will.

Cooking for the i8000 and b7610 (b7610 community help!)

Hello guys!
This forum does not have a section for the Samsung b7610 (OmniaPro). Thus I decided to create this topic to help also the ones who have a b7610 like me .
Every one knows that samsung made the b7610 with basicaly the same hardware as i8000.
Because of this I think of the possibility of crossflashing or even cooking at the same time for both devices without much extra work.
I would you suggest that some kind cook cook also for the b7610 rather than only to the i8000.
I think the kitchen should be the same, with minor variations (such as drivers for the support of the physical keyboard)..
I hope you understand the desperation of the b7610 community since all the chefs are focused on the i8000.
I am willing to help where needed!
I hope that other b7610 owners join me to contribute to our community.
Thanks for your help!
Great
I was hoping someone could come with this idea and I'm happy.
I'm willing to help in any way as my opinion is the same.
I8000 and B7610 are not that much different.
Someone cooking for the b7610 would be great
same here - willing to help & very eager for custom/light roms
Yes!, Please Cook for the B7610...it would be much appreciated!
any additional support would be appreciated from the small omnia pro owning community,it's a great device, but only 1 custom rom to date.
i'm reading and experimenting but dont have the know how to create a new rom yet, but xda has lots of people with the skils to tweak i8000 roms to work on the b7610.
i'm sure the cooks here could produce some fantastic roms -
Yes, I think the same too. Thank you.
Yeah It will be great if someone can cook a rom for us we really need a custom rom without all the samsung junks
many thanks
More and more people own a B7610 because it is for the moment the best what you get for the money. But this samsung junk really sucks.
please
i also have omnia pro and with samsung soft its unusable thanks to mobile shell i dont sell it its mutch better that touch pro 2 (only keyboard its on tp2 better). please somene start cooking roms for this phone. thanks
I am another owner of B7610 and as it was pointed out is a better device than TP2 but i have to say I really miss testing know roms every week.
Samsung B7610 is a very good phone!!
Yes, I agree with you all. Samsung B7610 is great phone in all the aspects apart from its software. I wish if xda pay a little attention to it and add a little section for it in this forum. I am really missing xda roms since I upgraded my phone from HTC P3600.
I also wish if omnia 2 rom cookers could cook something for it. It should be easy for them due to the similar features.
Thanks digao100nocao for arising such a subject.
I completely agree. I´m pretty sure the Samsung Omnia Pro 7610 would actually sell more units if a cook were to adapt the existing ROMs to what users are actually asking for.
Go Cooks Go!
same here !
please go in the kitchen and cook..
b7610 rocks!
yeeeeesss... please make cooked rom for B7610.. i love this phone..
but too much not useful programs like communities, search widget, msn money, msn bing search, msn weather, connected home, and the smartreader that not very smart on reading anything, to many errors on recognizing letters..
and the lag, makes me want to flash a clean WM6.1 ROM.. please do something about it..
there are already some cooked ROMs on http://www.modaco.com/content/b7610-omnia-pro-b7610-modaco-com/295813/b7610-collection-thread/
but i prefer flash ROMs from this forum.. i trust this forum more..
I dream of a custom rom on my omnia pro fabulous

It's not the point of trusting whoever makes a rom for b7610's....
Here the attentions are draw to HTC's devices... and this section has made a week ago...
Give it time people... A rom isn't made in a minute... (i think )
well. let's see the situation.
there are some roms and cooks for I8000. we know that apart from AES driver for keyboard there should be no difference.
there are some tutorials and kitchens, but no one here has the guts to try.
i suppose the only way out is to open a bounty and ask someone like dr. Khuanchai from Modaco to port some of his roms to B7610.
I would also try to get some connection to sonblack from PDAviet and ask him what he can do.
that's my 2 cents on the issue.

Can't Cook won't Cook

Well my cooking days for HTC Prophet have finally come to an end as I finally upgraded to a newer device HTC Touch Diamond and I have had to sell my Prophet so I won't be cooking as i have no way of testing the finished ROM.
But i will stick around and still pop in from time to time see how you guy's are doing and offer help to any one i can as usual and support to my ROM users

Thanks to all for your kind thoughts and i would like to say i will always be around to help you guy's start cooking your own ROMs and you still have a load of good chiefs cooking for prophet
Weird coincidences
Just when I thought my HTC days were over..
I too just got hold of a Diamond.. Been looking around the diamond forums but the current Roms seem to lack that unique flavor provided by our Prophet Chefs.. looking forward to see what you do with the Diamond roms wapvirus..
Good luck to whoever takes the reins over here in prophet forum

I would recommend Gen.Y R5.3 MultiLANG Kitchen[WM6.1+6.5][TF3D2.1+2.5][P3700|T7272] I have built several custom ROMs for my diamond using this Kitchen it's so easy to use and works fine on windows 7 i am currently running sense 2.5 with around 50mb free RAM ( just a few tweaks I pick-up from building for prophet) But i can't be bothered to release them as they don't stand out enough
