Amazon.de Releasedate confirmed directly by HTC - Hero, G2 Touch Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Today i asked the German HTC Support via Email when my pre-ordered HTC Hero (on amazon.de) will be available / delivered. Here is what Caroline from HTC wrote:

Thanks 4 that info!

You just saved my sunday with that message

Ich kanns auch kaum noch erwarten

Do you think amazon uk will also get the hero on 31st??

I dont know, im asking myself, why the dates für european countries differ that much. yesterday amazon.co.uk said august 15th. but i dont believe it, because orange is already shipping the hero, dont they?

yes they do since the 22 i think. so lets hope the uk release date is also 31.

its worth the wait guys
never used a andriod phone till now...
i won't won't be going back to WM
this is one great phone....imo

@Rotkaeqpchen: Did you yet get a status update on your Amazon order regarding the delivery date? I'm still (nervously ) waiting for any hint from Amazon itself that I'll be able to hold my Hero in my hands comes the weekend.

Translation by Google
Hey foosel So I have extra reason so directly with HTC in demand, because I had already on 16 July Amazon.de soon, and since the status has not updated. I think if a release date as given by HTC, then Amazon is the FIRST of immediately extradite because of the main shop.
Ps No buy Samsung Galaxy, which has only 128 MB Ram and shakes quite terrible.

Heh, nope, certainly no Samsung Galaxy for me.
I'll try to calm my nerves then a bit -- I so want to get my hands on that phone, already reading up on android development while waiting for stuff to compile at work, and it's getting more and more difficult to keep my patience the longer I have to wait. Will be some more tough days I guess

Just got a mail from amazon. The release of the silver gray Hero (which I preordered) will be August 6th (website) or August 7th (my order state) with delivery on 8th. No update on the white one as of now.

This is exactly what i have read now. I preordered the white one so i really hope that mine will be available sooner.

Well, the later release date is not what I hoped for, but at least it is a definite date. The last days spent keeping my fingers crossed that amazon will make the 31st while fearing and suspecting they wont really drove me nuts. *sigh* At least I have certainty now. Added bonus: First day of my vacation

Ok amazon.de finally set the date of availability to 5th of august. Yeeha!

I was almost going to buy tf1 and saw on the net and realized tf2 is only a few Weeks away.

The announcment is a few weeks away. Nvidia did not even announced Kal-EL officially.
Which means at best i will be able to buy the TF2 next year q1/q2.
That's a pretty bad assumption. They haven't announced it. It will be at least a couple of weeks after an announcement. You can also factor in delays and such. I seriously doubt a release will be this year.
As far as I can tell, no company has even hinted at a Kal-El device for the near future.
And there will be delays... from both Nvidia and Asus. I'd be a bit surprised if they had released something before February.

Why in the world would you believe "some websites"?
The tegra 3 hasn't even been released yet. They've dropped hints here and there to keep their investors. But that is it. And based on history, these kinds of products are due for delays.
And don't expect the price of the TF 1 to drop. The TF2 will be $100 more.
I don't understand why people think the TF2 can come out in a couple weeks. Here's a breakdown of what's going to happen.
Nvidia has to actually release the chip. Asus engineers have to integrate it into their systems. There will undoubtedly be hardware and software bugs. They'll have to stamp out those bugs, or at least enough of the bugs for the system to be stable. Then they'd have to rush these new specs out to production.
You're looking at at least 6 months.
I learn from history. I first heard about a transformer-like device from asus in mid 2010. Just groundless rumors saying asus would "soon" come out with a powerful tablet that is different than any other tablets (keyboard dock hint hint). I waited and waited and waited... Then a year later, the TF finally came out. By that time, I had bought the a500.
So, again, what person in his right mind would think the TF 2 will come out in a couple weeks? I don't get it. Who started this ridiculous rumor?
tegra 3 is already a finished product.

i'm still hoping that it will release by end of this year. I think they are getting pretty close. They would not have finalized the price so far in advance if it was not slated for release until next year.
the price has been finalized by the CEO of the company.

Yea it's gonna be a screamer...... site says it's runnng Android 2.3....progress
Maybe it's sooo advanced it's too good for even HC
G for Games Source information for The TF2 is from Droid Life we all know no "just Rumors" there,
Wait for the 25nm chips thats he next real screamers
Of course... they didn't get the whole "different" tablet thing correct either... Always Innovating had it first. I was going to get that tablet.. but it was so ugly. So glad Asus made it so much better.
Isn't the TF1 still selling really well? What's the rush to cannibalize the success of this tablet? And I very much doubt that the TF2 is really that close to being ready to release. I'm guessing no sooner than early Q2 next year honestly. Really, the hardware of the TF1 isn't really holding it back at this point, it's the lack of a lot of good apps/games/etc IMHO. I just hope that other companies see the success of the true docking keyboard form factor so there will be other choices and a continued segement of the tab market that the TF101 currently holds all to itself. I really don't need a tab without the keyboard - it is MUCH easier to use as my laptop replacment with the tab docked. Also a big advantage to double the battery life with the dock.... anyway, I am digressing.... I call April 2012 for the TF2.
whats with all of this hate?
I would assume the best guess being October seeing as the CEO confirmed the Transformer 2 will NOT be delayed as previous speculation stated. This may push to November with the announcement of ICS being pushed back. We'll have to wait and see. I just purchased a Transformer a week ago and am returning it to wait for this beast.

What are you basing October/November on? Even if the CEO confirmed no delays, you have no idea what its general timeframe of release is. If X = expected release date and Y = delay, X - Y = Z (actual expected release date). You're somehow saying X - 0 = October/November, while providing no info that solves for X. Like I said in my last post, Q1 at the earliest, with April being my personal prediction.

TF1 was first shown in CES January 2011 but was really available in June/July. Wouldn't be suprised if TF2 has same schedule for 2012.
in response yto the OP's original question...no one knows for sure. It's anyones guess. if the history of the Tf1 means anything it will still be a while. Not that I doubt for a minuite they might try to rush some halfassed product out the door in time for Christmas sales. It's a business and that seems to be the norm in the computer and or mobile industry ...correction,,,all industries.
i have an off topic question can you guyz please answer.
Can we type while video calling or use IM and video call at the same time? skype or gtalk or anything.

ok here you go buddy. It was a RUMOR that the transformer was to be released in october.
google Transformer 2 coming out in October you'll get dozens of other sites reporting the same thing.
Also, a report came out TODAY saying that the trasnformer 2 was slated for a november 7th release date according to a UK retailer.(READ LINK FROM POST ABOVE)
I cant post links because i need atleast 8 posts to post URLs
How many fingers are going to point to this date? April? I'd put my money on november 7th. Much more logical then to trust some random kid on a forum going "ya i think its april"
Edit: i know that it is a RUMOR that it was supposed to be released in October but think about it. Why would the CEO make claims that the transformer 2 would not be delayed if their wasnt a "general timeframe"

Check FCC Screenshot...
Date available after Short Term Confidential...
This could be the High End device...
With 720 x 1280 Pixel...
And the unknown Mid Range device... I am pretty sure it has 320 x 320 Pixel Display. To be compatible with Gear devices...
I am not sure...
Q2 is tooo short... I think...
Nothing new from Tizen 3.0...
Maybe if Tizen 3.x SDK will be released next 2 months...
In may or june... I hope.
Then maybe end of Q3 we could see somewhere in the world Tizen 3.x smartphone... maybe.
Why they should short after S5 release nobodynoname Tizen?
Only if it is really really cheap device.

LeTV Max Pro

Apart from lack off micro SDHC slot, a worthy successor?
Considerably better than the standard letv max.
Super hardware with one big downside is lack of removable storage, but 128GB should be enough. The biggest problems with this phone will be: software and lack of updates und support.

Sadly, letv are now LeEco, and their plans must have changed

This may be the end of Note 7, maybe note series. After skipping Note 5 from Europe, now this big mess with battery.... this is not good for us or for samsung.

According to Engadget Samsung have now ceased production of the note 7. Grain of salt required as usual it's an unverified source but if true then note 7 is dead in water. Its a wise move for safety but those who are awaiting preorders will move along and those of us with replacements will just spend the next few weeks wondering what the future holds and how we will fare in getting a replacement or refund
Really hoping for a statement from Samsung, they probably have analyized 2 or 3 of the 4 of the "replacements" that have exploded...
I just saw that Samsung has stopped production again, they should give up on it and move on its a bad phone

Go for the OP3. The axon is amazing in terms of specs and build quality, but the software bugs are killer. I have a family plan with my coworker and he was convinced that the axon 7 was the best and bought it.... he now kind of regrets it since his signal is very unreliable compared to mine right beside him. ZTE is aware of it and they are putting together an update but its been weeks and there isnt any update from them about when itll come. With going through the forums for the OP I dont really see as many software bugs that stand out though. Now if specs is all you care about then go for it, just dont expect too much out of a budget brand when it comes to updates.
The Note 7 is as good as dead.
Their fatal mistake this time was to reuse their Samsung SDI batteries instead of ATL for the replacement units.
Either that or there is a flaw in the design. Perhaps the device is too tightly sealed.

Any news on official Android 10 yet?

I got my S9+ update to A10 a few days back.
Anyone seen any expected release schedule for the Tab S6 (official release schedules please, not some rumour from twitter, reddit, my brothers dogs pet cat, etc....).
Please post a link or screenshot if you have, saves people immediately asking where you got the info from.
It's literally a google search away:
https://www.androidpolice.com/2019/11/29/samsung-android-10-roadmap/
Or if you're too lazy to open the link, it's coming in April.
Or, you can open the Samsung Members app, and under Notices, you'll find the relevant info for your country.
Or before april cuz tab s6 5g version shipped with Android 10
Honestly what really annoys me is the lack of monthly updates. They call it a flagship tablet but my tab s6 is still stuck at the december 1st update, meanwhile my s10+ received the january and february update already.

Sadly even if it is their "flagship" tablet it's not a huge priority for Samsung since the market is smaller. Honestly, I feel like Samsung makes tablets with the leftover OLED screen from the wafer and hopes no one notices the uniformity issues and ships them off. They get away with it since there really aren't that many "premium" pure Android tablets on the market anymore sadly.

What I don't get is why Samsung even BOTHERS to make these damn devices. If they don't sell enough to keep the security updates coming monthly, then there isn't enough to justify making them at all! It's still some profit for them I assume since they're using leftover display material from the out cut of the wafer. That is why there are numerous reports with screen uniformity issues and it doesn't cost them much to piece these together. That's the only reason why the price dropped down to $500ish so soon after release on "sales".

Are you joking? The last security update on the Tab S6 was a little over two months ago.
That's about the same timespan between the latest iOS bugfix- updates. Major updates take much longer at Apple (1-2 years), and they don't arrive for all devices or all regions at once, either. Also I like to remember that Apple also abandons their own hardware, although they make the OS themselves. They literally broke the internet connectivity for a number of older devices, last year.
What do you expect from a new update that can't wait until the pending Android 10 release in a few weeks? Is there any urgent security issue that you are aware of that hasn't been fixed?
But of course! Google announced since December several security issues and fixed them but Samsung doesn't care about the security of their newest tab at all. And yes, I expect a security patch up-to-date before android q!

They definitely do care.
The Tab S6 gets quarterly security updates, and the Android 10 update will roll out in a matter of weeks: security.samsungmobile.com/workScope.smsb
... quarterly?!? It should be monthly. Even the ex flagship s8 has got the February security patch. Android Q is officially accounted for April though ... .
Btw. I'm curious if they will fix their horrible soft ware, which seams to be made for phones not for tablets. E.g. not rotating volume keys and apps, missing vibration options, no download boost for the LTE version etc..

Only the flagship phones and Enterprise Models get monthly security updates. The "Tab S"-series gets quarterly security updates. Apple doesn't even give their flagship models monthly security updates. I agree that critical issues should be fixed as soon as possible at all times.
But still your rant/comparison is uncalled-for, in my opinion, because they are already doing better than Apple.
If you want a device with monthly security updates, you will need to get a Samsung Galaxy Note. (PS: you should wait for the new Note 20 model because it is rumoured to come with LPDDR5).
... last autumn I just got tab s6 so I intend to stick with it for some years, like I did with tab S (my wife is using it now). My s8 is now around 2.5 years, I will get a new one in 1.5 years or so ... Tab S and S6 have a great HW though but the soft ware ..., well

Wow security patches seems everyone is here talks about them. Fixes and new functions constant inconsistencies that i report and they never seem to be looked by anybody but anyway security patches are of utmost importance sonwe speak about them (no). Last one that annoys me in specific case - free rotation 360 is still not enforced on tablets, most of apps can overide it. Tablet has like loopsided screen everywhere and they talk about some patches that nobody Here even should even receive coz of root.

You do realise quarterly means only 4 updates for the entire years. 4 little updates for a flagship device.
Also its march 12, its been a quarter and still nothing.......
I guess they will skip this one and do the April android 10 update.
