On my phone it says to mount if I want to transfer files between my phone and pc, after I hit mount, nothing happens. I just got a brand new computer. Windows 7. Also Im having trouble installing the drivers. I downloaded the file, but it says it didnt install correctly. The trouble shooting option doesnt help either. Thanks for any help!!

[Q]Can not transfer files to device via USB

Hi,
My USB is behaving really wierd.
If I use USB debug my device is not recognized at al by my computer. With USB debug unchecked it's recognized and I can view and delete files but not transfer any new one. Transfer just results in a timeout saying "device disconnected".
This applies to both the internal and external card.
Tired different cables, different computers and operative systems.
Please help, tired of transfer files via keys air all the time :/

Hey,
when u have the Debugging mode activated and want to see it on PC, u have to hit the notification, which appears when u connect it.
Then press connect USB and it should appear on PC
When u don't use this mode it went in an "Kies-mode" which PC directly recognize.
Or when u go to settings>Wireless etc>USB and press here "Use USB as Masstorage" it's the same like when u press activate on notification while debuggin mode.
Hope I helped a bit ...

Transfer a small file see if that times out .

I know this is not a solution to your problem, but I recommend transferring files over wifi (NOT KIES AIR) which, to me, is much more simpler and better way.
Here is how:
first install free "SwiFTP FTP Server" application from Market
install it and enter desired username and password. Enable wifi and start application.
On your computer or laptop, install some FTP client (I recommend "Filezilla").
Enter user information you previously configured on your smartphone, connect and voila! You know have access to all of your smartphone's files and folders.
Like I said, for me, this is much better and simpler way of transferring files than using USB cable. Give it a try and see.

help connecting the phone to pc

my computer would not recognize my infuse...
(btw i have windows 7 ultimate)
have kies installed on my computer, tried uninstalling, reinstalling..still no hope
when i connect my phone to comp it says device not recognized
i dont think there is any problem with my cord, because i just root my bros captivate today with the cord i have.
any suggestions?
Similar issue for me
i have a simialr problem but for me its the phone gets recognized but it wont let me do mass storage so i cant drag and drop things to and from my phone.
HOWEVER i did find a app that made the cable not neccissary.
its called "Software Data Cable"
it hosts a ftp server off your phone and over wifi lets you connect to the phone with a ftp client like filezilla and move or copy things from your phone without having it plugged into your computer, you can set in the settings, a username and pass so connection can be secured.
by default the app sets the port to 8888 witch for me didnt work so i used 6464
and it works fine.
-really recommend setting a username and password to be required to connect
yea that would be good for transferring data..
but what if i brick my phone and cannot connect to pc. then im screwed

Thats why i always keep a spare kernel and ROM that i know works completly on the sd card just in case, along with backups of recovery and boot and system.

Unable to connect phone to computer (Windows XP) to transfer files

Hey all. Just a second ago I had a whole nice post typed up about this, but something happened on my computer and I lost it. So here's the deal. I can't get my computer to recognize my phone and allow me to access it as a drive. I tried to manually install the drivers but that wouldn't work, it said that the Windows MTP driver wasn't installed then it asked me to install Windows Media Format 11 runtime, which I did, and that didn't help, so I installed Windows MTP, and that didn't fix it either. Before you ask, I have my phone in MTP mode. Please help. I love this phone and just want to be able to use it to it's potential. Thank you.
Edit: Also I should mention it's a Verizon LG V10 VS990. Let me know if you need any more info, I would greatly appreciate some help.
I never use MTP. For way more control, Explorer from Speed Software can connect to any Windows (SMB) share on your home network.
Here this might help

Thanks man, but this didn't work either I'm still getting nothing popping up besides a few messages that say nothing important, but do give away the fact that my computer is old and becoming senile.

Thank you, I can give this a try when I go home for a temporary fix but where I'm staying at the wi-fi is trash so I don't think it will work well. It also wouldn't suit all my needs, including eventually rooting my device, so I'm going to keep trying to find a more permanent solution. I appreciate the reply.
