Could someone who has the newest "official" leak please post it here via a non virus ridden ... erm I mean non mega-upload site...
And name the thread something easy to understand. "Newest Semi Official Leaks" or something. It would be very helpful to the new people here, and some of the old too.

Are you talking about the 2.1 OTA ROOT Version

what virus?

Just download it from multiupload. Those sites are perfectly fine to download from.
Sorry, but I'm not gonna upload my 100+mb files to another site just for you, when everyone else can download them from multiupload just fine.
We use those sites because they're quick, easy, and free, and typically give decent download speeds. Not everyone here who releases files has their own web server to host them from.

Keep your anti-virus holstered on this one. Its pointless to scan an Android firmware with a windows anti-virus.
Also non-rooted phones can install this firmware because it is digitally signed by HTC so it cannot be malicious.

Not to mention you can compare md5 hashes, as well as all of our custom roms being signed as well, and if they were changed they wouldn't install either.

OK the only link here I found for the newest update was
androidforums.com/htc-droid-eris/55898-you-dont-need-root-new-leak.html
And if you read the forum there you will see that the pop up adds at mega-upload are infected, not the files themselves.
Now I had to dig to find that link.
Let me be clear, I HAVE the link, I have the files installed.
What I am saying is that I came here, had to dig quite a bit, and found a link with issues.
Maybe I missed a link to multiupload, which thread here is that in? Anyhow, It may be nice for those who come later, to be able to come to this forum, and have a thread, plainly labeled, with the link they are after.

It's as easy as closing the popups. Not a big deal.
And just so you know, if you installed that file you blew your chances at rooting your phone if you wanted root.

you can also check thefuzz4.net or photex-media.net which has plenty of info.

Actually my chances were blown a bit ago... thats what I get for flashing before coming to XDA though.

What do you mean? If you flashed the original 2.1 leak you can still upgrade to the newest 2.1 leak.
If, however, you are talking about how you had 1.5 then upgraded to teh 2.1 leak then yes you are screwed until we find a downgrade or a root exploit.
NOTE: We are still working on the downgrade process and finding a root exploit for the 2.6.29 kernel.

I have done root, clock mod, AP mod, and changed the boot animation. The reason I was asking is I was just curious so I would know if I will get the OTA updates.

What you asked previously was "STOCK" firmware. If you haven't flashed a ROM then you're on "STOCK" firmware but you did modify some parts of it with MobileAP so I don't know how that would play about.
Simple Solution.. its on the stickied post
IF I ROOT, WILL I GET OTA UPDATES?
Yes. Rooting will not prevent this, unless you flash a custom ROM that will block receiving the OTA update. If you do receive and download the OTA update, you will lose root. Typically within hours of the OTA becoming available, thanks to some fine XDA folks you can get the update WITH root. You would simply need to download and flash the update like a normal ROM.

Even if you dont get OTA, you wouldn't want it anyway because OTA gives the update to people in GROUPS and not every single person gets the update at the same time. So you can get yours two weeks after the first batch got the update. When a OTA is released, somebody will post the link for rooted and non-rooted users to manually push the update. So there isn't a need for OTA. Just look around the forum for it when its actually out.

Yeah it just seemed weird asking if you have stock or not. It honestly doesn't really matter because in the end, you're still going to get the update even if it isn't OTA.. you'll just end up manually pushing it which is better than OTAing.

When you flash simple mods like MobileAP or a new Battery icon, will it pose problems when you update, say to Froyo in the future?

I can see how he can get confused. I was a little when I 1st started paying attention to the whole Android scene.
Stock could mean a few different things to different people.
1. Stock = NOTHING CHANGED period at all. not even mods.
2. Stock = Rom that shipped with the phone with a few mods
3. Stock = A flashed "true stock" rom
4. Stock = an Google Android STOCK rom aka AOSP
I still go by the saying that their is no stupid questions just stupid answers.
another thing, thanks for at least posting this in the correct forum haha. A lot of the other members get really PEEVED when they see postings in the wrong area.

I wouldn't think that it would cause any issues updating to 2.2 with mods like the battery icon. I'm unsure of the MobileAP though cause 2.2 has it built in. I would prob remove that to be safe before you update. I'm still learning too so lets wait till a more seasoned member could give ya a better answer.

2.1 has it built in too.. its just the U.S. versions of the Galaxy S has it removed because of the carrier.
Just think of "STOCK ROM" as the default ROM without any modifications. That's the best explanation of it.

How to get to 1.2 from 1.1 on CWM?

So im cool with CWM. Simple. easy.
How the heck do i flash back to stock recovery so i can go 1.2 with it?
Since its 'baked in' i cant remove the hijack and restore the logwrapper...
am I being obtuse?
My understanding of the process is this -
If you are running a rom that has the recovery package built in, your tab is rooted and you have superuser status:
All you need is a Terminal Emulator such as Android Terminal Emulator (in market)
Run Terminal Emulator and type:
su
Then type:
fixrecovery.sh - This installs/flashes Stock recovery
If I'm wrong then at least this will prompt those that know more to chime in
you've made almost 150 posts and do not know the answer to this question?
You could read Goodintentions G-Tbalet for Dummies site
you can use Calkulins "Format all" zip to wipe everything and start fresh from there (perferred method)
You could Flash stock 3588
There was a post recently called "Foolproof method of getting to 1.2 from 1.1" by Ramerco that I followed and it worked perfectly.
I just can't believe that you've posted that many times and never stumbled across the answer ot your question...

I was a little surprised too. But everything ive done, was with CWM. All my efforts have been towards putting CWM On the os lol. I know how to remove it when its installed (logwrapper) but i wasnt sure how to flash the stock rom... never wanted stock =D Ill check out the foolproof thread.
While im here - What are the added benefits of going for 1,2? I got a variation of HC working on 1.1 right now. (again through CWM

not much, really. It's just assumed that since VS released, then pulled the update that migrated their OS to 1.2, and that pretty much all other malata tablets use the 1.2 branch, that it's easy to assume that eventually, if ever, there will be an update from VS that would be on the 1.2 bootloader.
a month ago, there were different roms for different branches. They've merged now, and you can pretty much get whatever rom you want on either bootloader (or a variation at least)

Hey goodintentions has pretty good site, there are few things that are missing (like calling out to actually let the tab bootup fully when back on stock before trying to load a ROM ***hint hint***) or calling section A / B / C and then refering to it as parts 1 / 2 / 3 ..lol (busting chops) but its a good site to bookmark a ref when modding your tab.

I don't see any ads(?). I even have adblock off for his site, in case he did use ads (if ads kept the site alive, then it's worth it imo).
As for motive, as far as I know it's to help out the community and nothing more - I even gave goodintentions a donation to keep his site going, because if it reduces the redundant questions here, then it's well worth having.
As a former modder here, you cannot believe the amount of redundant PM's I would get over and over and over and over again about the GTablet. I had asked for someone to build out a good wiki here on XDA back in March, but it never really went anywhere - so his site is a BIG help to me, and I suspect other power users as well.
Look at the stickies on this forum - for a new user trying to find information, it's far from optimal. Goodintentions site provides a service that's lacking here - simple as that.
It seriously does reduce the amount of redundancy in the threads. It also cuts down on redundant pm's. If his ulterior motive was to make money he sure as hell wouldn't have put so much time and effort into a site dedicated to a legacy device.
Thanks again GI.

[Q] - Why can't I find the Stock Touchwiz - only the old honeycomb

I would like the files to ODIN the stock Touchwiz update from late 2011.
I would then write a guide for everyone on how to return the tab to stock... this is asked way too much.
I do NOT want to write the guide updating everyone to the old honeycomb.
Anyone have ODIN files for returning to stock touchwiz?

"Stock" and "touchwiz," at least on this forum, are mutually exclusive. I honestly have no idea what you're asking for. Do you want android 3.1 or 3.2? If you want 3.2, you're stuck with touchwiz; there is no stock 3.2 ROM available. If you want a stock 3.1 without touchwiz, that can be found in the dev forum.
If you want a guide on how to return a tab to stock (and the only reason I can imagine someone would want to do this would be to send it in for warranty service), theres a guide in the sticky in the dev subforum, and also team overcome has a great method with all the downloads both on their ROM post and on their website (with great instructions too).
Simply asking for an ODIN version of the TouchWiz update. That is stock... not rooted/tweaked.

I think you need to read up on this a bit more because that doesn't exist.
Here's a little history for you: Touchwiz was an update to samsung's android 3.1 build that came out after 3.1 was released (so you can get both stock 3.1 and touchwiz 3.1 builds). Touchwiz was integrated into the 3.2 build. So the only "touchwiz upgrade" i can think of was an OTA upgrade to 3.1. I don't think flashing that will get you anywhere. If you're looking for the stock 3.2 build from samsung (and I suspect you are), go to samfirmware.com. If you really did search the forum you'd have found this everywhere, including in the sticky in the dev forum.
But there's no need to write a guide. Use CWM to flash the stock ROM, and then use ODIN to flash stock recovery. That's all it takes; you now have a stock tab.
^ I appreciate your response... I am just pointing out that I have never seen the touchwiz stock ODIN that one could flash... only honeycomb.
edit: and considering that almost daily there is a post about getting back to stock, I would say a guide is warranted.
If you can help do that, great.
coming from this same line its also helpful if the instruction would be basing from the download of the recent or older firmware, which should be from the downloads from sammobile.com that we all know provides all the stock roms, latest and versions before.
reverting stock means, the latest official: recovery (not cwm), kernel, and the firmware (rom) itself. these all 3 components, not kernel or firmware only. nothing straightforward is provided here, all bits and pieces on scattered threads but don't coherently work well with each other, mainly because they're abandoned or not updated anymore by their OPs.
another reason for reverting back to stock aside from warranty chase, is so that kies will be able to just update the tab to its latest firmware, or even ota. this is basically how the tab provided by samsung should be for a really basic end user without even knowing what root is.
then above average users can always do their rooting and after mods cleanly, knowing they came from the real clean stock and can always go back either by cwm backup/restore or manually everything from scratch.

This is not intended as a flame, but from what you've written I am not certain you understand what you're talking about. Touchwiz is basically Samsung's theme running on top of honeycomb. No honeycomb = no touchwiz. Also, you still need to make a distinction between 3.1 and 3.2 ... Regardless, as far as I know there is no touchwiz-enabled ROM that can be flashed with ODIN.
Anyways, there is a very good guide on teamovercome's site which is unfortunately down right now. Here's a link to the site; since it's down I can't link directly to the guide:

^ I am perfectly aware of what TouchWiz is.
I am simply trying to find the files to load in ODIN that would allow someone to boot up to the stock (not rooted or debloated) setup of the TouchWiz update in late 2011.
I do not want to go back to honeycomb 3.1. Not sure how I can say it more plainly.
Does this exist? If not in ODIN, in a flashable zip?

The 'touchwiz update" was for 3.1.
3.2 came with touchwiz baked in.
If this is what you're looking for, then you're looking for the samsung android 3.2 update, not the "touchwiz update." I don't know how I could say this more clearly.
If you read my posts, I answered your question. What you're looking for does not exist. If you need stock (god knows why) just follow the many guides that already exist (or the instructions I gave earlier).
Anyways, I can't help you any further without pulling my hair out. Maybe someone else has more patience. Good luck.

Honestly man, it may be better to not answer at times.
You do not understand me. Perhaps I am not saying things clearly enough. O well.
I want the files to return a device to STOCK 3.2.... not 3.1 Honeycomb which is all I see. I consider "stock" to be an unaltered version of the update (or original) firmware... I also prefer to go to the latest "stock" setup, not 3.1 HC.
You said it does not exist, I laugh at that.
I would like this because many people:
a - ask this all the time
b - want it for servicing/warranty
c - prefer to return to stock before switching to a new rom.
I prefer to use ODIN since I know and like ODIN.
If this does not make sense, do not respond or sound rude please.

I did check out that zip... It looked like it was the one Samsung pulled for wifi issues. I know like a week or so later they rolled it out again, but I did not know if there was a different build, I assumed so.
Thank you for posting that by the way, got carried away with all the other madness. Thanks!
note the wifi problem was due to the installer not the rom itself. if flashing and not installing via OTA or Kies - it should not have that problem

ICS Update Un Rooted My Phone... Quick ?

Hopefully I posted this in the right forum, If not please move it!
Ok, So I updated my phone via Kies and got the official ICS update (Finally) for my AT&T Galaxy Note, Problem is, as expected... it unrooted my phone and I'd like it rooted again, I want to keep the new official stock ICS rom and just want it rooted again to delete all that garbage bloatware to keep my phone sharp, any help?
Do i just re-root it doing it the same way I did before?
Will it ruin my new ICS rom?
Can anyone link me to the files that will root my phone but keep the ICS Stock Rom?
I didnt have a single problem Rooting it the first time on ginerbread, but Im not sure what will happen with a different official rom installed. Just dont wanna have to reinstall ICS again or something, when I just spent about an hour setting it back to how I had everything, then remembered updating unrooted me.
Any advice or help is really appreciated!
Thanks!
Not really in right section more like a Q&A section.
However the devs need a little time to sort through all the code but these guys are smart and root will come soon and they will proudly announce it. Just enjoy for now.

Yes.
Now look one post above your last one.
To see the links Mr. Joe is referencing you need to be on a pc.
To install CWM you need to be on a pc.
To root you need a pc.
Mr.Joe would only post trusted links.

I successfully updated my Note to ICS yesterday and want to root it again as well. I looked through the Note section in BigJoe's thread, but can't figure out exactly what files I need. I rooted it with Gingerbread without issue. I've looked through the unlocking/rooting section and the one thread that explains how to root specifically says that the method will NOT work with the official ICS update.
Sorry to sound so dense, but could someone link exactly which files I/we need to root the official ICS via Odin?
What you asked for is in the third post.

Fount HTC Supertoolv3 link (Was: Tell me the business with kernels/firmware, please?)

Hello! This is my second android phone, this nice HTC Legend. It doesn't seem so straightforewards as the Sony Ericsson Xperia x10 mini pro though. I was probably a bit spoiled by the availability of a tool to flash the firmware/kernels with, though.
I have been trying to find and download HTC Super Tool (v3), but can find no working downloads, either across goo.im, mediafire or rapidshare- each reports that the file was removed for some reason.
My Legend had firmware/kernel v 3.30 with a froyo 2.2 stock rom on it when I recieved it, unrooted, so I followed this guide 'http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/wiki/HTC_Legend:_Full_Update_Guide'
Which instructs one to take the kernel and downgrade it to version 1.31, so that clockworkrecovery v2.5 to 3.5 can be used with the phone.
After trying HOMIcs, I kind of miss the stock rom. I tried using B today, and after flashing the rom and update, the Legend is stuck in 'trying to boot' mode, which in my experience from the SE xperia x10 means that the kernel/firmware is incompatible with the ROM I am trying to use.
I have indeed tried to use the HTC WWE 3.30 RUU to upgrade the Legend mobile again after the downgrade process from that guide. It had HOMIcs running at that point, and the process failed, saying 'update your phone software again, you dolt, we can't update your firmware/kernel without the software being proper!' (Argh.)
Am I stuck with the RUU 1.31 now?
Does anyone have a copy of HTC supertool around? Can they please put it on a share site so I can access it? If not, what was the reason the tool's been killed off?
I'm going to mess around with a clean Cyanogen 7.2 rom for now, I suppose.
Thanks very much for replies (I'll thank-button you)

Have burned alpharev 1.8 to a cd and rebooted, started the process of switching to s-off to hopefully have an easier time updating the kernel/firmware, got to where it says 'power off in 90 seconds', and then my PC powers off, not my phone. "%ยค#!
Still trying.
...Oh! Alpharev works only on HBOOT 1.0 or lower, and mine is 1.02.
Hoo-kie.

Found out thathttp://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=987251 is exactly what I wanted, though it needed a lot of tweaking. Looks like S-off and updating the HBOOT wasn't at all necessary~
Well, hopefully this thread will help other users looking for the same thing!
While I can't help you with your "real" problem, I do have a copy of HTCSupertoolV3 laying around.
I just uploaded it to MediaFire. Unfortunately, this forum prevents me from posting "outside links" before I have 10 posts. I will try and see if I can PM you the link instead.
Edit: It worked! Check your PM's buddy!

Could you possibly send me a link to the HTCSuperTool? I've been looking for it everywhere but can't seem to find it. Thank you

It won't ever go down I hope, I will check on it regurarly. If it ever goes down I will re-up it as soon as I can.
And, no problem!
