Need Help. Just updated new software today. - Fascinate Android Development

Alright so,
My phone is rooted and I have lag fix. I just updated my phone today with the new software and my screen is stuck on Verizon wireless.
I imagine I need to go into recovery mode and apply an update.ZIp?
Is this correct? Any other way to fix this?
Anyone have an upate.zip they can send me?
Thanks.

So MT phone boots up all the way but all I get is fc and not able to do anything besides trying to close them.
Sent from my Droid using XDA App

i'm in the same boat, the update.zip isn't signed so it won't install.

So I put the update.zip file on my card tried loading and it says
E: failed to verify whole-file signature
E: signature verification failed
Installation aborted.
What do I need to do to fix this.
Please someone smarter then me help.
thanks in advance.

follow this your going to have to go back to stock, then redo root and everything.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=782204
Also, Do not install the Verizon update, it is not made for rooted phones. Wait for one of the devs to post a root friendly verizon update.
OR i think you can get the update after you go back to stock, and then redo root.

The devs have released a signed version

[Q] stuck in boot loop

Hi
I successfully sbf back to stock froyo and just gingerbreak 1.2 and motodx_bootstrap_signed. and then proceeded to add sdcard from zip in bootstrap mode and got upgraded to gb pre rooted with p3droids zip file. heres where i messed up I went to the themes section in xda droidx2 forums and tried to add fukenblack theme it didnt work so i tried to add the stock framework on the post still just boot loop . now when i try to sbf back to froyo i get an rsdlite "error validating files" and ive redownloaded the just in case . any help would be appreciated otherwise i got to wait till the upgrades offered here and say it happened from that
love these communities
Lee
First of all, that theme hasn't been ported to GB yet. I made the same mistake, however I was at work and my work computer doesn't allow me to download the tools I needed to SBF etc... I didn't try to revert back to the default with that one download he included, I just started from scratch SBFing back to Froyo and doing it all over again.
If you get that error use 7zip to unpack the sbf file
Sent from my DROID X2 using XDA App
yeah i cant do the sbf to froyo thats when i get error validating files. i just tried to do the update.zip again and p3droids or verizons both give me an error 7 something about dialer.apk. the loop i get is the droid noise and word looping continuously. hope they release the update here soon so i can call and say it screwed up my phone
thanks for the reply though if anyone else has any ideas id love to try them

The simple answer is you need to replace your stock recovery with a modified 2e or 3e recovery that clockworkmod is compatible with.
Since you are on 2.1, I believe you will need the 2e, but it may be easier for you to Odin to froyo and use a 3e recovery instead.
heres a video on how to do it.
Just search around for the modded recovery. Any should do.
Thats not correct...you need cwm4 for mtd to flash ics.
Yeah i used your guide in the generals, Droidstyle. worked like a charm. makes me feel dumb that i had such a hard time
What droidstyle said. Odin cwm4 and enter it with three finger method immediately after you re-insert in your battery and flash away. ICS is very functional especially for alpha build and quite stunning visually.

Can't install latest software update after unlock

I used one of the unlock programs on xda to unlock my AT&T SG2. Now it won't let me install software updates (not sure if these are related).
The update downloads fine, but at some point I get a screen saying "Install interrupted. The software update could not be installed at this time."
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance.
I have the same problem. Any help is appreciated

This makes 3 of us getting this error.
I wonder if it is because my phone is rooted. I have tried to unroot it but even that fails.
Same problem here. I have the stock ROM with root. Tried to install the update twice and got that same error message both times.
Are you just rooted, or are you running a custom kernel with CWM?
CWM and the OTA update process don't like each other.
Of course you could just flash the UCKK6 image rather than OTAing...
I don't think I'm even rooted, just unlocked using the Galaxy S Unlock app by Helroz on the App Market.
I wonder if I uninstall this app whether the update will work then. Any ideas?

Could you elaborate on this, i.e., give more detailed instructions on what UCKK6 is and how to flash it?
BTW, will this updating problem mean that we won't be able to upgrade to ICS when it comes available soon?
Much appreciated!

to update this kinda stuff when youre rooted with CWM, it says install failed after i tried to update.... how would i normally get updates on a rooted gs3??
Just like you would stock
Mine tried installing but cwm stopped it of course. My PRL was messed up afterwards. Kept getting error #67 so I had to restore to stock rom with Odin. All fixed now.

Same issue, same question.
I'm guessing that since we made modification to the system ie removed system apps or whatever, that's the cause of it not working? I looked around and I couldn't find the OTA in any system folder, so I now wonder if anyone has the OTA in a flashable .zip.

It didn't work because we don't have the stock recovery installed. You'd have to flash the stock recovery back before running the update for it to work. I don't see any stock recovery .md5's posted though so I'm not sure how you'd go back to it short of a full restore.

How can you tell if the update took? I no longer get the notification but where can I check for the change?
I did the return to full stock using the epiccm teams method, got the update and it installed fine. Now I'm having trouble trying to boot into CWM after flashing it through odin. Just boot loops using the three finger method unless i just let it boot up normal.

"The update contains a file that will reflash the stock recovery every single time you reboot your phone if the digital signature doesn't match" is probably whats creating the bootlooping. install the root friendly update thats being uploaded atm...
edit: are you using the new v4 recovery? might want to flash that in odin if your using the old one..
Anybody know what the update is for or fixes? I got the notification but I'm not installing it since I'm rooted LOL

Yes, I got the latest one from their blog.
Edit: I posted this in another thread, but was finally able to get into CWM by just leaving auto reboot checked when flashing recovery in odin, then just holding volume up and home after the phone vibrates. No need to hold the power button.

[Q] Global Update install failure...

The global update for the Rezound is failing installation for me.
The update has been downloaded seven times OTA and has failed installation every time on my phone.
My phone's current version is:
Android version: 4.0.3
HTC Sense version: 3.6
Software number: 3.14.605.13 710RD
Baseband version: 1.22.10.042lr, 1.22.10.0424r
The downloaded OTA version: ADR6425LVW_4.05.605.14-3.14.605.13
It successfully downloads the file, reboots into "Android system recovery", and displays the following error...
RA Revamped...
Build : RA-VIGOR-v3.16-getitnowmarketing
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
Installing update...
wrong taskid 221384E:Error in /cache/fumo/OTAPkg.zip
(Status 1)
Installation aborted.
The phone's bootloader is relocked and "S-OFF".
I've also deleted the OTAPkg.zip file from /cache/fumo, and the "fumo" directory itself, and re-downloaded the OTAPkg.zip file but it still failed installation.
The OTAPkg.zip file is 217,141,266 bytes in size.
The resetting of my phone and getting it hung in the Android System Recovery every few hours is getting annoying.
Anybody have any ideas on how to get this fixed and the Global update successfully installed?
Thanks,
Dan
It is probably because you have a custom recovery.

Thanks for the info. I had forgotten that I had previously flashed the amon-ra recovery. As suggested, I flashed the rezound stock recovery and the darn OTA update still wouldn't flash. The phone gave me a similar error message as before. I then flashed the entire 3.14.605.12 OTA release just to get a known stable release. The phone boots and reports that an OTA is available (to go from 3.14.605.12 to 3.14.605.13), but then times out while trying to download the firmware and gives the following error: "SERVICE UNAVAILABLE Check for Software Update under Settings when service is available". The Status reports Download Failed, Code 503. It's late, I'm giving up for the night.

I posted instructions for how to flash firmware.zip while s-on in the other global thread
You will need firmware.zip (linked to in that thread), a nandroid backup, your HTC unlock code, and possibly a coy of the stock HTC recovery.

Brenuga, thanks for the instructions. If I'm S-on, locked and running stock recovery and the global leak and wanted to end up in the same configuration but with the new firmware, would I just fastboot erase cache and then fastboot flash zip firmware.zip?

You also have to do fastboot oem rebootRUU before you can flash firmware.zip, and remember to flash it again after it errors out the first time.
You may lose your current boot.img so have it ready to flash after updating firmware or else you will bootloop.

please have pity on me. i don't even know what s-on or s-off mean. all the tech jargon is confusing.
My rezound is rooted, but just so i can use it as a wifi hotspot. never done anything else to it.
it keeps on rebooting and fails to install this new update. my recovery screen says exactly what the OP's did.
i don't want to wipe my phone just for a stupid update. i'm not convinced that i even need an update. how can i stop it from updating or doing this?
in an unrelated note, is there a way i could hack my rezound so that i don't have to pull the stupid ring and deal with the lock screen?
can't i just press the unlock/power button and be on the home screen? just tell me what thread and keywords to search for, thanks!
Thanks to all you guys! this forum has helped me use my rezound's 4g for my laptop and tablet all over the country.

If you don't want the update, just download titanium backup, find the apps called OTAUpdater and 'freeze' the apps to keep them from running. There's two ota apps, one from HTC and one from vzw
Holo locker is an alternative lock screen widget. Just install it and set lock screen security method to 'none'.

Yes, go to settings, manage apps. You still have to find app named otaupdater. In manage apps, you can 'disable' apps to keep them from running. Its the same thing as freezing.

Yes, that's the one. Any other apps that say update or report are good to freeze, too. Any HTC or vzw apps you don't use. Vzw SSO you need if you use visual voicemail or my Verizon app.
