TV.com Works but with flaws - Nook Color Themes and Apps

TV.com works perfectly with the Auto-Nooter 2.12.18.
There are some issues with the ratio, sometime it can do full screen sometimes can't.
Besides that, Quality is great!

playing with tv.com with the first nooter root.works well, but i can not find anything that is full screen. can you please give me an example of a show that is full screen so i may test it? thank you

The thing is whenever you go to lanscape mode when running a show on tv.com, the next movie you run will become small. Try this
Keep your nook in portrait mode, open tv.com. keep it in portrait mode until the show start. It work for me most of the time

Try ncis los angelos :disorder. I had to open it 3 times before it went to full screen

Fantastic ! Has the game zoom function?
no zoom function AFAIK but it is a great improvement plus extra levels!
It managed to crash on my mini after one level.. and the res still seems a bit off at times.. I will keep playing to make sure it doesn't crash again.. and if it does crash.. I will just restart it and keep playing.. for the sake of testing of course
seems to be a problem with the resolution when it pops up with a screen to show you how to use a new bird weapon (that's all I could think of to call it) so when you get an exploding bird it pops up on the screen with instructions of what the new bird does showing a big finger touching the screen.. then freezes (I guess there is a button off the screen somewhere (on higher res screens) that allows you to continue.. on the mini/pro you have to reset the game..
Edit.. holy crap I just looked at the post times.. I wasted over an hour playing that game!!
since i have upadated mine, ther resolution is perfect, however the game itself sometimes stutters [which IIRC it didn't do before (when the resolution wasn't great)] like there is not enought RAM to run it perfectly. apart from that it works well.

Can you take a video of new version on x10 mini ?
The game works fine on mine. Aside from occasional lags. The new version supports the small resolution of the mini...
Is it crashing for anyone else when you unlock a new bird weapon?

sorry, dont know how to do that...from what i have noticed [playing for quite some time yesterday ] it appears that the lag/ stuttering that i notice is only when the advert is on the screen, at the start of the level. after that has gone it appears to be fine.
You do realize when the screen freeze in the instruction, the back button or the menu button (I'm not sure, I forgot) is fully functional. You just have to press it and it will bring up the menu. From there, go to the level selection and pick the level you're going to and voila, you are playing the game again without resetting.

w the 1.4.2 update, the instruction fits the screen properly w the check mark to continue.
I installed the last update and it seems to work a little bit smoother than before.
But finally, I found the key: to root and install AdFree... NOW WORKS PERFECT !!! Also I noticed with AdFree my X10 mini goes faster. I hope this helps!

I can confirm this! Still a little slow sometimes at the start of a level, but a lot faster than with the ads!

[Q] Touchwiz Pan & Tilt

My Touchwiz update went fine on my stock unrooted tab. However, the new pan and tilt functionality doesn't work even though I've turned on all the settings and calibrated my tab.
Am I missing something or has anyone else experienced this?
this feature looks kind of.... stupid
For photos in the Gallery and web pages you need to put two fingers on the tablet initiate it's ability to zoom. They show holding it by the bottom corners then touching the screen with your thumbs. It works as show on mine. It can also be turned OFF in settings. Make sure its not OFF if you want to try it.
Ultimately it is a gimmick. Can't see even holding the tablet that way in normal use.

Agreed. For me, pinch to zoom works much better.
I like the ability to move an icon/widget from screen to screen while holding it down and turning tab left/right.
Much better for moving icons.

Tilt sensor/accelerometer issues

Was really excited to see Tomb runner in play store but after downloading was unplayable cause the tilt sensor doesn't seem to work in the game, seems fine on home screen etc.... anyone else having this problem or found any workarounds?
Hmmm.. does it work elsewhere for your tablet? Tombrunner works fine, with tilt, on mine.
its fine in other apps, which build of the os are u on? Settings-About tablet-Build number... Mines B016 at the end...
Did you try to uninstall and reinstall? It worked for me
Tried everything, reinstall, reset tablet but no joy... Im gonna try the ICS beta ROM.

Absolutely worth the upgrade and I cannot recommend it more highly. I just updated to ICS b08 last night (from 006) and it continues to be a significant upgrade in the little things. Screen seems more responsive, performance better to the eye, and so on. Absolutely worth it, regardless of tomb runner. 8)
It's working great on ICS 08 rom. But playing something like angry birds and tip off basketball is harder than it should be because the touchscreen filtering algorithm either non existent or were set to a very low number so you can't have a steady touch (try to just touch the screen in the browser and it's shaking... Or just activate pointer location in developer options to visually see the touches). Despite this problem, I still think that this rom is better than the hc ones.

i red it somewhere on web and when happened it to me it worked.
Solution:
1. turn off screen tilt function
2. turn off auto screen brightness
3. turn on screen tilt function
4. turn on auto screen brightness
weird? try it

Home screen / auto rotate use orientation sensor. Games use accelerometer. If you or anyone else having accelerometer issue, try disabling compatible coordinate mode in setting - developer options.
As for me otherwise - enabling compatible options.

Need Tester for possible HDMI resolution workaround

Can people with an hdmi cable please go in to terminal emulator and execute the following command?
am display-size 1920x1080
Let me know how it looks...on my TV it is all zoomed in, doesn't look right, if your TV has a PC setting, use that.. I want to see if it is just my TV or not
To go back to how it was enter
am display-size reset
This is a possible(though not ideal) workaround when using hdmi
Would like to have people test it with different TVs/monitors
If you have a screen that supports it, you can use this command for 1440p
am display-size 2560x1440

for my dell 30 inch it zoomed it also
2560x1440 full screen stretched it. looks good nothing looks cutoff and the whole screen is being used.
Just watched a video and did a side by side comparison with my other monitor and nothing looked cutoff using mxplayer
1900x1080 zoomed in
2560x1600 did not do anything.
Although what I did notice was there is an extra space below my launcher in tablet mode but it doesn't show on the monitor only on the N10 itself but I use expanded mode also so its not that much of a problem imo

Yeah, when you are done you can run the reset command to make it normal again...
There is some cutoff on my phillips 42" lcd, it must be dependent on how the screen handles it...

Thanks this is great.
I just tried it:
Nexus 10: rooted Stock 4.2.2
HDTV: Samsung PN58C8000
HDTV screen size set to: 16x9
Player: MX Player Pro
Observations:
> First attached the HDMI cable before running the display-size command. I could not for some reason get the N10 terminal to accept the enter command. The enter button lit up on both the N10 and HDTV screens but the enter did not happen. Not sure what may be going on there.
> Second attempt with the HDMI cable disconnected I executed the "am display-size 1920x1080" command and the N10 screen adjusted to the new dimensions. Mainly every thing looked like it was zoomed in. Then I attached the HDMI cable and it seemed to fit perfectly without any overscan that I notice.
> Using MX Player I started video playback and it played full screen on the HDTV.
This looks like a great solution. I did have some problems but I use a combination of products so that I never have to see the notification and status bars one being "full!screen". The display change seemed to mess up full!screen's functionality. So in the end I had to reboot before issuing the "am display-size reset" command but I think that is a problem specific to my setup.
The reboot did NOT reset the display back to normal, I had to issue the reset in a terminal and then all was well. This is not an problem just an observation.
I also use both "SideBar" and the PIE feature of "LMT" and they worked with the changed resolution.
I am going to play around with this more but I think it would be very convenient to use SManager and its desktop script widgets to perform the display set and reset. The SManager Pro version can "Execute scripts from widgets without opening console". I already own SManager Pro.
If you really wanted to get fancy you may be able to have a script that accepts a video file path and or video stream URL, sets the display, starts MX Player passing the file path/url and then when MX Player ends resets the display. This idea needs more thinking and development before the fancy script would be useful.
Here is how to start an app in a script and here is the MX Player API details. I have not tried this yet but was going to for a completely different application.
I have some playing around to do, but this is important information.
Thanks again.
Doug
Sweet... Thanks for all the info... If anyone wants to try setting a script... Be my guest but it won't be me lol
I can adjust my display size while plugged in but I do get over scan... Mabey I'll try setting the size, then plugging in
could this be something that can be tied to Tasker? I don't have Tasker to find out (nor a microHDMI to HDMI cable!) so I don't know, but what about a tasker trigger for detection of the HDMI cable to send the "am display-size 1920x1080" command and then when the HDMI is removed send "am display-size reset"
Perhaps given 3DSammy response this might not be possible if the command has to be sent before connection to the TV...
I wrote the toggle script I was suggesting "HDMI Fullscreen Toggle Script".
Might have to try this out on stock rom and see how it goes... I'm guessing it's my TV but Mabey it's the rom... I get over scan on my phillips 42" lcd
Works for me. Thanks

You lose your nav bar? That's weird... I don't lose mine... You can use LMT launcher or gmd gesture controls though...
Indeed, n10 is pure stock. Reboot resets everything so for a film watch session its ok. Am sure this knowledge will spread and media players like mxplayer can include that trick in future.
What would be nice now is to smooth out the little jitters I get when playing back a blue ray via HDMI now we can go full full screen.. Preferably non root as the old fella would get more confused.. Its almost perfect so being close is bit irritating

Question Astro mode/Expert Raw constantly crashing (im at wits end)

Hi everyone! Just to kick it off; I'm not a developer, just a motivated user.
I've been using Astro mode quite a lot lately, and I always got weird crashes intermittently, but always had a semi decent night, all things considered.
Not tonight though. 3 hours, one usable photo.
Had many good compositions but the app keeps crashing;
At the end of the 4/7/10min exposure, the timer will run down, and sometimes it will need a moment to process and produce that little circular image preview. I always let it do it's thing.
But when it crashes; the timer runs down, and then the app freezes. It doesn't load a tiny image preview on screen. But the accelerometer/level indicator will still function on screen. Usually it will need to reboot after this happens.
Manually stopping the timer before it runs out basically yields the same results; intermittent to very certain crashing.
It crashed 3 or 4 times in a row on the same composition (after effing up all night prior but still somehow pulling off 15sec test shots) and that's when I gave up. As i mentioned, each time I'm there waiting for 7 minutes.
The camera can make awesome photos, but it constantly crashes for me.
Here's some results: some photos it just pumps out what seems like a single 15sec exposure, others can be completely fubar and im pretty sure some photos just disappear into the netherrealm;
Also added some screen recordings of app freezing after an Astro photo, and showing how 'continuous mode' set to 9 pictures on Avg. setting will frequently crash the app (at least on my phone) as well.
I though the cold outside might be a factor, but couldn't reproduce the issue when set to 10min in my fridge.
Main settings phone:
WQHD+ (highest res)
Light perf. Mode
Adaptive battery on
Ram Plus off
Camera assistant installed
S23U 1TB
March Update (holding out)
I turned off light perf mode and it seemed like it fixed the continuous mode 9 shot issue, but no it still happened.
Planning to turn ram plus back on but as you see, I'm just winging it here.
Did manage to file an error report in the field but didn't attach an image or a screen recording that matched with the log. I don't always get the option to report the error either.
Just to report back in case anyone else finds the same issue:
Just did about an hour and a half of long exposures in Astro mode, no crashes at all.
Either the issue is real intermittent, or I fixed it by clearing app cache and app data/turning off light performance mode

Since posting, I've moved to the April software update and someone told me a new expert raw version was available. Wasn't available 6hrs ago but it is now!
As far as crashes; I haven't seen a crash yet, but I won't be celebrating early. Clear skies tonight so I'll be testing if the update yields better results for Astro!

Lmao wtf? That is interesting to say the least.
Did you wait for the timer to run out and the small circular image preview window to update? Because it looks like you might just have picked up your phone a bit too soon.
If you grab your phone as soon as the timer runs out, you're going to have artifacts. The timer runs out but maybe it's still gathering data.

That's good!
But obviously the phone isn't moving itself, so it's either capturing light before you put the phone down, or it's *still* capturing light when you're picking up your phone. Otherwise you wouldn't be getting light trails.
Here's your problem: (in my estimation)
