i saw those but none of them are like an actual webcam. i was hoping there would be something that made it act like a legit webcam

What do you mean "legit," if you mean the lag, that's likely unavoidable, using a phone adds another set of software where a legit webcam has only hardware.

[Q]Remote INTO Samsung 10.1?

My dad just purchased a Galaxy 10.1. I am current owner, but unfortunately now live halfway across the country, so I can't show him the finer points of this awesome device in person.
Is there a remote software that allows me to view or takeover his Galaxy 10.1 from a computer or my tablet?
Thanks all! Love this thing, especially after the ICS upgrade
I don't think there are many ways to do it that way around, the only one I knew (but haven't tested myself) is this....

So something like remote desktop but to control his tablet from your computer or tablet?
If this is correct. I've seen it many ways the opposite, but not the way you want. Surely its out there. Hopefully someone has the way to point you to it.

Unfortunately it's just not possible. If you need to give remote assistance, have him set up a webcam that looks down onto the tablet screen, and then tell him what to do over google chat/skype.
-Skype (So you can say hello to father dearest and his adopted son, The tablet)
-TeamViewer (So you can control his PC incase you need to teach him something)
-Webcam (So you can see what's going on? )
If you were on a remote PC I would agree that VNC Viewer (Free) Can be used on both tablet's and PC's so that you can see what's going on and click on the tablet too?
Then again feels like a mega screen inception.

Amazon Test Drive

This may be a bone head old news post, but it's something I just noticed. I usually check for the free amazon app on my phone each morning but forgot to this morning so I checked online. This is when I noticed a "Test Drive" button as pictured below. I havn't had a chance to play with it yet, but wondering if others have and if, in fact, this is nothing new and I just failed to notice.
Nothing new. .. But still good for those that dont want to install the app before hand and see how it is

I haven't actually seen anything that's even worth test driving in that section.

so it's only certain apps then? Perhaps this is why I never noticed. Only time I use web based to to provide a link to someone on here so I don't spend much dwell time.

[Q] Fake galaxy note?

Hello everyone, a friend of mine got a phone that really looks like a galaxy note, it comes with some kind of software that is pretty much limited.
Anything useful to do with these devices?
I have attached some pics

Where did he bought it from? If your friend isn't happy with the device you should call the company and ask for a refund.

He can't refund it because he bought it from a guy selling it on the streets (think he was fooled! and he thinks the same!)
Is something out there that can help him at least flash the phone or anything else?
Thanks
If there's no reference to Android, or if there aren't any Android-specific settings on it, chances are that it might be one of them MAUI/Cosmos UI systems that come with certain Mediatek chipsets.

What does that mean ?
Basicly he doesn't have any options like he has on his HTC @ Cyanogen. I'm talking about he doesn't have USB preferences, Wi-Fi settings, recovery mode, download mode, etc..
And being MAUI/Cosmos UI systems means what?
And in some application preferences when he press settings his MRE version is 2.3.0, i don't know if this helps or not but I would like to help him.
When he first look at the phone the sticker said it was Wi-Fi certified, and had android technology, but it's just a sticker...
I'm really sad for him!
Check about phone in settings.

If it has a different OS then it's impossible to flash Android firmware on that 'phone'.

But is there a way he can go so he can see what's the OS it has installed and a way to change it ?
Thanks

There's no phone software/firmware/wtv a normal android has in options :S
a Co-worker just handed me this same exact phone and asked me what I think, I told him i hope he didn't pay for it and he looked at me a bit sheepish. He paid 250 off of some guy selling it in the street. So I in turn came here to see if anything could be done via flashing. I guess its a no-go!
but anywho, this thing is so crazy they even mimiced some apps like Plants VS Zombie, fruit slash, and angry birds. it seems as if its running on java platform. its like a 10 year old device/specs.
:silly:

Microsoft Office Mobile - not allowed

I find it pretty stupid and annoying that Office Mobile is not allowed on our Note 4s. This is one of the best phones on which to use Office Mobile. I know that it is not yet supported on tablets, but this isn't a tablet. I guess they are making a conscious decision not to support phablets? I wonder if there is something we can do to convince Microsoft to unshackle the app. I know that there are other office apps, but honestly, nothing supports office docs better than this app, in my opinion. I need it for work.

[Q] Pioneer AVH-4000nex updated to support Android Auto

Hello Guys! I've seen a lot of frustrated guys out there that were disappointed that Pioneer won't update their 4000nex units to support Android Auto. I saw this posted and wondered if this guy can do it so quickly, surely someone here could accomplish the same. I'm tempted to purchase his solution. Anybody have any thoughts as to whether this is safe?

this would be pretty freaking rad. the two head units from what everything is pointing to, are identical aside from the software. i would like to believe this is legit. i have been eye balling a 4000. the android auto would be a nice feature to have but it is lame on their part to not do a firmware update.
I have loaded it into my head unit. The program loads but right now there is no audio for android auto. Im waiting for an update and will give it a try at that point. I wish I were savy enough to know what to do but unfortunately I'm not. I have the firmware and can upload it if anybody who is interested wants to take a look.

I designed something myself as for a firmware interface to work with the 4000NEX. If you don't mind though, I'd like to take a look at what you have to see if mine is exactly mirrored or a bit different. Two things I noticing here is when it was posted he said he couldn't get the bluetooth to work for it, which I have rerouted a fix for that. But as for the audio not working for android auto, I want to see what is different on what you have and what I have. Mine worked fine when trialled, but it could be because of my current system already having bluetooth in the truck. If you don't mind, can you upload it here or email it to me? jared.balsor at gmail dot com
It would be great to get AA on the 4000NEX.
Hopefully someone here can get the firmware to work 100%. I'd be willing to donate.

By chance are you making any progress or updates on this? I would love to get a copy of the firmware with working bluetooth audio streaming.
a guy on avic411 has been making some real good progress on this as well.

Yeah same here. Pisses me off that I only bought that head unit a year ago, and they updated the firmware for apple carplay but not android auto.
Firmware for NEX4000 to make it useful, please
I'm so irritated at Pioneer i could spit. I've updated to 1.11, got the MHL HDMI to usb adapter for my Galaxy Note 4, and then found out that i bought the crappy 4000NEX. The 4100? Son of a *****.
So, sell me 1 of your lauded & much praised firmware please, good sir. ☺
