Has the Archos 101 been rooted yet - Gen8, Gen9, Gen10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I was wondering if the archos 101 had been rooted yet and if not is going to happen... ever?

It's rooted but not permanently. If you have bellow firmware 2.0.71 installed you can use z4root to temp root it. If you have higher you can root but you need to install the sde which voids the warranty. Then you can use this which replaces the kernel to allow root permissions but it does not allow you to make permanent changes to the system partition.

not too happy about having to install SDE which voids the warranty to have just temp root, perm root might be worth the compromise, otherwise is just a waste of time until someone with the required skills can get us perm root

Having issues trying to root..

Hey guys.
I can't seem to get my SGS2 to root properly. I have tried with the CF root kernels and then use S2 Root and it says successful but nothing that requires root will work with root privileges.
Any suggestions?
I am using stock 4.0.3 and the kernel is CF-Root-SGS2_XX_XEO_LPQ-PROPER-v5.4-CWM5
Thanks.
Actually, this might help generate a response.
I have S2 Root'd the phone but I have CF Root on. I have SuperSU and CWM installed too but any app that requires root just keeps "root-looping" (asking for root - or, because i've already accepted it, I get a small popup saying this app is requiring root permissions or whatever it says).
None of the apps will then gain root access and forever rootloop until I reboot.
I hope this helps you in order for you to help me!
Nevermind, the problem was the kernel!

Root and Unroot.

This has probably been asked before, but I can't find it.
I am not new to rooting and CFW, I run them both on my GT540, but I am new to Samsung and flash counters.
If I choose to root my phone, but not install CWM just yet, if I need a warrenty claim would I have to reset my flash counter after I unroot? Just for a lil advice, I want to root.
Also can someone link me to the best method for a fast root, rather than root and CWM, I can install the latter later when I decide to use a custom rom.

[Thor] Root without unlocking bootloader

My Thor device is on 4.5.5.3. My goal is to root, and I don't plan to install custom roms.
After researching the forum, here comes a few questions I have:
Kingroot should work (with retries) ?
I don't need to unlock bootloader or install twrp if I'm cautious with SuperSU grants. If I always know what I'm doing with root, risk should be minimal?
Can system update (say future 4.5.5.4) brick the device if all I did is root? Should i block the update?
Thanks in advance!

Click to collapse
While past OTA updates have simply removed root that may not hold true with future updates. Recommend blocking.
Kingroot for me only took 2 tries ( withlastest version) , you can check the root with ES File, if you can activate root explorer, its done.
I dont think this device get more updates at this point.

TEMPORARY root, VS9902BA?

I know full root is, apparently, impossible-- but is there a way to get temp root, i.e. root-until-reboot? I heard something about booting into twrp, without it being installed, is that possible at least?

(G850F on 5.0.2) Temporary root or unroot after rooting with CF-Auto-Root?

I need to root my Galaxy Alpha to edit just one system file, and then unroot it so I can still use apps that don't work on rooted phones. It seems like rooting is not a problem, however I couldn't find any information on the internet on how to unroot a phone that has CF-Auto-Root applied. Can it be done?
Or alternatively, is there a way to gain root access only on adb so I can edit the file this way? Temporary custom recovery maybe?
By the way, tripping the knox flag, losing warranty etc. is absolutely fine by me.
