[THEMEish] Theme Eraser for NFX and MikShift updated 4/4/11 - EVO Shift 4G Themes and Apps

This is just a zip you can flash to erase whatever theme you are using (for stock ROM). This will install all stock apps, stock frameworks, fonts and boot animation. I use this when I'm testing themes. Much better than re-installing stock ROM because you don't have to do any wipes (keeping all your apps and settings) and it will keep your OC kernel active. Also much quicker than re-installing stock or restoring nandroid

Changelog:
3/26/2011 Updated with nfinites 2.0 ROM deodex.
New! 4/4/11 Mikshift 1.1 version available (odex).
Instructions:
Make a nandroid just in case. Use CWM 2.5 or 3.x to flash (uses edify scripting). Busybox must be installed to flash.
Download:
Theme Eraser NFX (deodex) updated 3/26/11
Theme Eraser MikShift (odex) updated 4/4/11

Appreciate this. This is very handy and useful much better and faster than restoring nandriod

Updated, see OP

Ok, I'm coming from the moment and everything seems to be a little more confusing on the shift. I just perm-rooted my shift yesterday. Now I'm looking to theme it. I haven't installed any roms or different kernals yet, because I'm really confused on which one to do, cause a lot of them say something is broken.
So what i wanted to do was apply the cyan dragon theme. So I assume this theme eraser acts like a theme template and I have to use it before applying any theme.
Now the next problem I'm having I can't even download this or the cyan theme. Every time I click on the download link I get directed to the dropbox site and I get a 403 error. I even tried creating my own account and logging in and still don't know how to get the file. Don't know if its a dropbox problem but I've been trying since last night. I've never used dropbox before so maybe I have to do something different to get the file. Unless it's an xda thing and I don't have proper permission to download this file.
Any help would be appreciated, cause I really want to theme this bad boy.

This is not a theme template per se. You don't need to use this to flash a theme. This is for when (for example) your on cyan dragon and you decide you want to try a blue theme. This puts framework, apps, ect back to default (using nfinites rom as a base deodex) since not all themes have the same themed apps and you don't want to have some themed apps leftover on the wrong theme. This is also much faster than reflashing a rom, keeping all your apps and settings. If you're trying to flash cyan dragon then I recommend flashing nfinitefx45's stock 2.0 rom found in android developement first. The issue with the links is dropbox related and I'm planning on moving everything to multiupload later on today, then ill update the links.

I wouldn't recommend it. Mikshift is an odex rom and this is deodex.

Hey Dread,
If running the NFX Odex ROM, then which of the two versions would you recommend?

Well in that case I guess I would suggest the mikshift version cuz its odex as well... but it will basically become mikshift at that point...

Its suggested to do so. If you flash a theme over a theme there might be residual themed apps leftover as not all themes theme the same apps.

[Q] Gingerbread Keyboard

Okay, so after flashing the new Bionix-V ROM, i have been customizing it to fit me.
One thing I have been dying to get was the skinned Gingerbread keyboard. The Blackout Green one in particular. Found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=9814026&postcount=169
There is a flash-able .zip and an .apk file. I have tried both methods and still no luck. I followed the instructions and can't seem to get it to work.
I know that the Bionix-V ROM comes with the stock gingerbread keyboard, do I have to delete that one to install the other one? I'm just worried that it will get deleted and I cannot re-install and.
Thanks in advance!
I believe you do have to delete the original first but before you do copy it to ur sd just in case it doesn't work. Don't forget to reboot after you remove and install

Yes. The next update I post (at least for my mods of them) will automatically remove the original before applying the update.
Sounds good, I will delete the original Gingerbread Keyboard.apk and flash your mod. Will keep a look at your post for the update!
Thanks guys!

I released an updated Blackout Green yesterday in the original MTM thread. It's near the end. You can also just find the Gingerbread Blackout link in my signature and find it there.
Just starting work on the rest of the colors as it appears no issues have been found with what little changes I have made.
Just an fyi... im using the blackout red gb kb... i just went in with super manager and renamed the stock one and then pushed the blackout (just to make sure if it didnt take i wouldnt lose the stock one too) and all is good and this keyboard is SWEET

I've had good luck with this. After ZipThemer builds the update.zip (& the undo.zip) I just move the zip files from the root of my sdcard to /openrecovery/updates, reboot to OpenRecovery & apply the update.

I am partial to my r2d2 lock. Also from droidpirate
He has some sweet metamorphs and since we now share similar droidx/2 framework, a lot of his will work on ours.
As for the time, I have to edit services.jar and don't have time to right now - uni exams.
Ill post it when I do it though, unless another kind chap will do so.

Couldn't get it to work. Tried with a working MM and got the .zip file but OR just aborted it when I tried using it as an update.
Did you change the update script format? (Edify HTC Generic works for me)
Tried with HTC generic and got bootloops. Didn't format but don't usually need to. Ill try formatting later to see though.
Any other settings you have differently?

Not that I know of. Apply the update wipe the Dalvik & cache reboot. Iv'e tried a couple & got bootloops but the undo option has always worked for me.

I've combined multiple morphs into one update.zip but I haven't tried adding a ZipThemer theme into the mix. Looking at the ZipThemer output files I would think that as long as you're theming different apks you could build multiple updates but if you're targeting the same file you either have to incorporate multiple themes into one update or apply one update before building another. (Does that make sense?)
Hmm I was half asleep when I wrote that let me rephrase.
If I make an update.zip with theme A and later on flash theme B (a completely different theme) if I want to go back to theme A, can I flash that update zip created in themezipper?
This is what I'm trying to do so I can give out my themes.
However it only bootloops if I apply update.zip(A) to theme B

Sorry, I haven't really tied anything like that but if your're theming the same files ti doesn't make sense to me.

Question about installing themes

I like some of the Themes listed in the Wiki but one question I have is can these be installed over the stock rooted Sprint ROM or do I have to flash a different ROM first?
Thanks.
Most of the "themes" are for cm7. There are a few for stock/stockesque (mik roms). In order to use a theme or rom you need to be rooted, s-off, with a custom recovery installed.
Always double/triple check what flavor (sense or aosp) of the theme you are going to apply... Mixing and matching sense and aosp can make your phone act silly...

I would suggest a different ROM not stock rooted Sprint ROM. Install a ROM compatible with whatever theme (sense 1.0 ROM if its a theme made for it or cm7 if its theme chooser app). Don't try flashing a sense 1.0 theme over sense 2.1 for example, its not going to work.

It depends on what theme... if its a flashable zip theme, you SHOULD be able to flash the original rom over it without harm (you will have to delete bloat/apps again) but if the rom contains wipe scripts you will start over from scratch... cm7 themes are changeable in the theme chooser...

[Release] CyanogenMod 7.1.0 P-Rom-Style

This is a P-Rom to install some CyanogenMod extras and apps on the Atrix. There are two options- one with CyanBread preinstalled, and one with NguyenHuu's Gingerbread theme preinstalled. GingerBlur can be installed with it, because it doesn't wipe the phone, though it is not required.
NOTE: This is not full CyanogenMod. This is a Pseudo-Rom to give you guys the look and feel of CyanogenMod 7.1.0 on Froyo before I release it. This will also allow you to install Gingerbread apps on Froyo.
Downloads:
With Cyanbread preinstalled:http://www.multiupload.com/OV596IQDJT
Without Cyanbread: http://www.multiupload.com/6T82UCN5IU
For those having Google Maps force closes, try opening Maps and see if that fixes it.
Will a mod please move this to the Atrix Themes and Apps Section?

Look and feel, no functionality.
Oh, so that's it.
Is this a complete Rom or based on other release?

So im confused, there is already a CM7 "theme" to be downloaded and recommended to flash over gingerblur.
This is saying the same thing...so when saying "recommended to flash over gingerblur" would this just be themeing over top of gingerblur or would this be replacing the P-Rom gingerblur with this CM7 P-Rom altogether?

No, it has all the extras like CM7 (settings). You will get no performance boost because he has not built his own kernel which means you will be using the froyo kernel.

Just make a new clock widget, and once you open Maps (if you get force close, keep trying.) it should stop. Try rebooting to verify.

[Q] bionix 1.3.1 orig theme & davlik wait period

hi
i looked around for a bit but couldn't really find a specific flashable file for what im looking for... is there a zip out there to revert to the original theme/settings that came with Bionix 1.3.1? im getting bored of the simple b&w so it's time to start experimenting with some themes... :x
also... quick question about davlik.. most of the theme instructions say to wipe the davlik cache before/after installing a new theme but dont really mention anything about the waiting period that is normally associated with wiping the cache when installing a new rom. is it necessary to wait the 15-20 minutes before using my phone or can i just go ahead and start doing things with it immediately after i flash a theme?
any helpful answers appreciated. thanks!
I have been looking for the same thing! The erobos ported theme has the zip but the link to download doesn't work anymore.
The dalvik-cache must be wiped when a new theme is flashed so you won't see traces of the previous after the flash. When the phone reboots after the flash, the boot time will take longer because the phone has to rebuild the dalvik-cache that you just wiped. This only takes about an extra 5 mins tops. As for restoring a theme, you can just push the origianl files from the Bionix-V ROM package back to your phone, if you dont want to do that, PM me and i'll make you a flashable zip that does this.
