[Q] Gingerbread Keyboard - Vibrant Themes and Apps

Okay, so after flashing the new Bionix-V ROM, i have been customizing it to fit me.
One thing I have been dying to get was the skinned Gingerbread keyboard. The Blackout Green one in particular. Found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=9814026&postcount=169
There is a flash-able .zip and an .apk file. I have tried both methods and still no luck. I followed the instructions and can't seem to get it to work.
I know that the Bionix-V ROM comes with the stock gingerbread keyboard, do I have to delete that one to install the other one? I'm just worried that it will get deleted and I cannot re-install and.
Thanks in advance!

I believe you do have to delete the original first but before you do copy it to ur sd just in case it doesn't work. Don't forget to reboot after you remove and install

Yes. The next update I post (at least for my mods of them) will automatically remove the original before applying the update.

Sounds good, I will delete the original Gingerbread Keyboard.apk and flash your mod. Will keep a look at your post for the update!
Thanks guys!

I released an updated Blackout Green yesterday in the original MTM thread. It's near the end. You can also just find the Gingerbread Blackout link in my signature and find it there.
Just starting work on the rest of the colors as it appears no issues have been found with what little changes I have made.

Just an fyi... im using the blackout red gb kb... i just went in with super manager and renamed the stock one and then pushed the blackout (just to make sure if it didnt take i wouldnt lose the stock one too) and all is good and this keyboard is SWEET

[THEMEish] Theme Eraser for NFX and MikShift updated 4/4/11

This is just a zip you can flash to erase whatever theme you are using (for stock ROM). This will install all stock apps, stock frameworks, fonts and boot animation. I use this when I'm testing themes. Much better than re-installing stock ROM because you don't have to do any wipes (keeping all your apps and settings) and it will keep your OC kernel active. Also much quicker than re-installing stock or restoring nandroid
Disclaimer:

Changelog:
3/26/2011 Updated with nfinites 2.0 ROM deodex.
New! 4/4/11 Mikshift 1.1 version available (odex).
Instructions:
Make a nandroid just in case. Use CWM 2.5 or 3.x to flash (uses edify scripting). Busybox must be installed to flash.
Download:
Theme Eraser NFX (deodex) updated 3/26/11
Theme Eraser MikShift (odex) updated 4/4/11
Appreciate this. This is very handy and useful much better and faster than restoring nandriod

Ok, I'm coming from the moment and everything seems to be a little more confusing on the shift. I just perm-rooted my shift yesterday. Now I'm looking to theme it. I haven't installed any roms or different kernals yet, because I'm really confused on which one to do, cause a lot of them say something is broken.
So what i wanted to do was apply the cyan dragon theme. So I assume this theme eraser acts like a theme template and I have to use it before applying any theme.
Now the next problem I'm having I can't even download this or the cyan theme. Every time I click on the download link I get directed to the dropbox site and I get a 403 error. I even tried creating my own account and logging in and still don't know how to get the file. Don't know if its a dropbox problem but I've been trying since last night. I've never used dropbox before so maybe I have to do something different to get the file. Unless it's an xda thing and I don't have proper permission to download this file.
Any help would be appreciated, cause I really want to theme this bad boy.

This is not a theme template per se. You don't need to use this to flash a theme. This is for when (for example) your on cyan dragon and you decide you want to try a blue theme. This puts framework, apps, ect back to default (using nfinites rom as a base deodex) since not all themes have the same themed apps and you don't want to have some themed apps leftover on the wrong theme. This is also much faster than reflashing a rom, keeping all your apps and settings. If you're trying to flash cyan dragon then I recommend flashing nfinitefx45's stock 2.0 rom found in android developement first. The issue with the links is dropbox related and I'm planning on moving everything to multiupload later on today, then ill update the links.

Its suggested to do so. If you flash a theme over a theme there might be residual themed apps leftover as not all themes theme the same apps.

[Q] das bamf in ROM manager?

Hi All,
Possibly a stupid question, but I searched around and couldn't find the answer...
Where is Das Bamf located in ROM manager? There is no download link in the ROM thread (for the latest version, 1.3.2), just says to use CWR. Does it require the paid version? The only ROM providers I see in the manager are Extras, IncPacker, MrBobrowitz, jdlfg, jcase, MIUI, t3hh4xx0r, RetroKid223, and Google Apps. None of these seem to have Das Bamf.
I was able to find Das_BAMF1.3.2_te.zip by manually browsing his site's directory structure (hxxp://adrynalyne.grdlock.net/bamf/roms/themed/Das_BAMF1.3.2_te.zip), but when downloaded, it's only 3kb and is not a valid zip, so I assume that is not correct.
Thanks, all help is appreciated.
I am not completely sure about this and someone can correct me if I am wrong but I don't believe the ROM is available through ROM Manager. If you go to the thread and download the Themed or Non Themed ROM and save it to your SD card, you can then use ROM Manager to flash it. You probably ended up downloading just the Kernel, it's 3MB Also, you may want to wait a bit because 1.4 is supposed to be out today
Thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1009876
1.3.2 (non themed)

1.3.2 (themed)
Themed version (has latest kernel and tether fix) (This version will force a data wipe!)

Yea you may have just downloaded the kernel. The Rom is 200+mb I believe. Just download it and save it to your SD card. I the opened ROM manager and rebooted in recovery and then selected flash zip and selected the Rom's zip file.

Wow, somehow I completely missed that in the long list of links, thanks for pointing it out, I feel like an idiot
I was assuming that because I only saw links for the kernels, that the ROM itself was in the manager. Thanks!
By the way, does anyone who's already flashed this ROM have the md5sum for Das_BAMF1.3.2_nte.zip? I like to be on the safe side.
Actually, adrynalyne just posted a few hours ago that 1.4 will be available later today, so I'll probably just wait for that. Anyway, thanks for the help.
Sorry to bring back a dead thread, but I am hoping someone can help me out with this one. In ROM Manager, under DasBamf, it no longer lists any of the ROMS and gives me an error and tells me to contact the ROM Dev. Anyone else witness this or is it just me? Any fix?

It has been recommended not to download the roms from Rom manager, at least at one point, because people were getting bad and corrupted downloads. Just download out of the thread for the Rom you want and flash in recovery

I've combined multiple morphs into one update.zip but I haven't tried adding a ZipThemer theme into the mix. Looking at the ZipThemer output files I would think that as long as you're theming different apks you could build multiple updates but if you're targeting the same file you either have to incorporate multiple themes into one update or apply one update before building another. (Does that make sense?)
Hmm I was half asleep when I wrote that let me rephrase.
If I make an update.zip with theme A and later on flash theme B (a completely different theme) if I want to go back to theme A, can I flash that update zip created in themezipper?
This is what I'm trying to do so I can give out my themes.
However it only bootloops if I apply update.zip(A) to theme B

Sorry, I haven't really tied anything like that but if your're theming the same files ti doesn't make sense to me.

unzip the file, pull out the apk, then move it from your sd card using root explorer to system/apps, change mount r/o to mount r/w, replace the old apk. set permissions to owner: read write; group: read; others: read. Then mount as r/o. close out and reboot. should work.

[MOD][STOCK][GB ONLY]14 toggle QP, CRT, & TouchWiz w/landscape! updated 3/22/12[CWM]

[MOD][STOCK][GB ONLY]14 toggle QP, CRT, & TouchWiz w/landscape! updated 3/22/12[CWM]
I'm intending these mods for those of us that like that stock feel to their phones, but want a little something extra.
GINGERBREAD ONLY.
These mods were all done and tested using an
AT&T Galaxy Note SGH-i717 with the stock rom intact,
still odexed except for when mentioned below.
Modded TouchWiz
I've modded the Galaxy Note's TouchWiz to have 6 columns and 7 rows. I've also removed the icon text on the main pages and the launcher.
The app drawer has 6 columns and 6 rows.
TouchWiz30Launcher.apk has been deodexed so the flashable zip will delete TouchWiz30Launcher.odex and replace with a back up.
DAGr8 helped out with getting landscape mode working, so this has been updated with landscape mode now.
To add a sixth app to the dock, go into the app drawer, hit menu, select edit, and drag whatever app you want to add to the dock.
Wipe your dalvik-cache before flashing.
Remember, the revert file is for STOCK ODEXED AT&T. If you're already deodexed, this will not revert your TW launcher, just cause you problems.
If you want to go back to stock, use the revert zip, but remember to first move your icons into a 5x5 area starting in the top left of your screen, otherwise you'll lose them when you go back to the stock TouchWiz. Remove one of the apps from the dock, too, or you'll lose your app draw icon off the screen.
Screenshots below.
CWM flashable zips attached to second post.
14 toggle quickpanel
This is lidroid's 14 toggle quickpanel mod brought to the Galaxy Note using the stock systemui.apk.
This will work on the AT&T SGH-i717 stock, odexed ROM. This is what I have, so this is what it's been tested for. I cannot promise that it will work on any other SGH-i717 variant. If someone tests it out and it works for the other versions, let me know and I'll add it to the post title.
CWM flashable zip for flashing the mod will copy three files to system/app and one file to system/framework.
System/app gets the modded, deodexed SystemUI.apk, a renamed systemui.odex.bak for safekeeping, and the QuickPanelsSettings.apk to customize the toggles. The systemui.odex is removed in favor of the back up.
System/framework gets the lidroid-res.apk.
I've also included a CWM flashable revert to stock. This will delete QuickPanelSettings.apk, lidroid-res.apk, copy the stock systemui.apk, and restore the systemui.odex.
3/10/12: As requested, ICS blue quickpanel added to the second post. Screenshot below.
CWM flashable zips attached to second post.
Known Issue:
lidroid's QuickPanelSettings app isn't scaled for the GNote's awesome screen, so it doesn't fill it. It's completely functional. I'll try fixing this in the future.

CRT Animation for screen off
AT&T only! Get Telus/Bell here
I've modded the stock framework-res.apk to bring the CRT animation for screen off to the stock ROM.
If you flash the CRT Animation zip, you will lose any UOT kitchen theme or other framework theme you may have already flashed. It is not my fault if you didn't read this before you flash it. There is a revert zip also, but this will take it back to stock, not to any previous themeing you may have done.
CWM flashable zips attached to second post.
Added Blownco's blue battery mod customized with the CRT animation to the second post. All credit goes to Blownco for the blue battery mod.
***Disclaimer: as with any mod, you're flashing at your own risk. I'm not responsible for anything that goes wrong with your phone.*** Make a back up before flashing.

CRT animation for GNote_revert.zip - flash to return to stock
N0te-blue-batt_with_crt.zip - this is Blownco's blue battery mod with the CRT animation added
Note: Based on some reports of issues when flashing the ICS blue and CRT animations back to back without rebooting, I would recommend rebooting between mod flashes. To fix, revert to stock and then reflash with reboots in between each mod.
--
Touchwiz_Mod_for_GNote_6x7_landscape.zip - flash this for TouchWiz with 6 columns, 7 rows, no icon text on homescreens. Have a second launcher installed. Thanks to DAGr8 for his help with this.
Touchwiz_Mod_for_GNote_revert.zip - flash this to revert to stock, odexed TouchWiz. Revert for stock, odexed AT&T only!
Flash this mod at your own risk. I would recommend having a second launcher installed so your phone can finish booting if this doesn't work on your phone. And make sure you download the revert file.
Wipe your dalvik-cache before flashing this mod!
--
It's recommended that you download both the mod and revert zips so that you have them available to flash in CWM if you need them.
Always do a back up first!

I'm not much of a themer, but if someone wants to pick it up and try, I would have no problem adding it to the OP. It might be difficult because lidroid compiled his lidroid-res.apk in an unconventional manner, which is making it difficult for other people to successfully decompile and recompile.

Maybe this is a stupid question but will this work for the rom that came on the phone. I noticed you said odexed and I'm not sure if the stock rom out of the box is odexed or not.

The stock ROM out of the box is odexed.
The stock systemui.apk has deodexed for the mod, with the systemui.odex renamed to systemui.odex.bak for safe keeping.
Worked like a charm thanks for the good work!!!!!!

I'm using Beta 4. Just download the file, boot into recovery, install from SD card.

Exactly what I did with that CWM version. Be sure not only to backup, but to download the revert.zip and keep in in your sd card (or internal, whichever) just in case.
Woohoo...just flashed update to cwm beta 4 without a hitch...then nandroid backup and flashed this mod...working beautifully. Thank you so much. Some ics theming would be epic too!!!
Thanks again!

Has anyone using TPC V2 tried this, or will it just bork the framework since his ROM is deodexed?

It should work on deodexed. Just make backup of your current SystemUI.apk
Great!
This worked perfect with no problems. I am on TPC v2 with dag .2 and the ICONs for TPC. The only thing was the that icons reverted back to original and I had to reflash the ICON pack.
Overall great mod! Much appreciated!
Great job! Thanks so much for sharing this with us!

Updated with a CRT animation for screen off.

Send me the flashable zip for your battery mod and I'll see if I can put it in for you.

I can't thank you enough for this, phenomenal work!! Really looking forward to using the CRT animation as well, I have the same blue battery mod as ryanbmw51 so I'll hold off for now.
