[Q] Dust Under Screen? - Thunderbolt Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My screen isn't even bleeding at all, but I see one tiny white speck near the bottom of my screen right above "Menu" and it's driving me crazy lol
I would've never noticed it if I didn't put my screen protector on last night, but meh, I can deal with it. I might be jumping to Sprint for the Evo 3D and cheaper prices as Verizon is killing me $170 a month.
Just wondering if anyone else has encountered dust under their screen, thanks!

This is a manufacturer problem, I know other HTC devices, namely the MT4G, sometimes had this issue and you should be able to do a warranty exchange. As far as Sprint goes they might be cheaper but good luck getting a customer service representative based in the US when you hadn't a real problem that you need real help with

Would I have to go to a Verizon store and do it? Most of the employees in the two near me are complete a-holes.

Screen is crooked, sprint refuses to replace. what should i do?

My evo 3D screen is slightly crooked (rotated to the right) so the screen doesnt line up with the bezel. I only noticed this recently, well outside the 30 day exchange period. I took it to sprint and they said it was a cosmetic problem they could not replace. What should I do? In addition i have Total Equipment Protection

They claim that it wouldnt affect usage of the phone but wouldnt a crooked screen cause the touches to be inaccurate and for pictures to end up being crooked?
Apparently I have to send it in to HTC under the manufacturer warranty, which i would have to pay shipping to ship to them. Then it would take 6-10 days for them to "diagnose" and then ship back. So it would require about 2 weeks without a phone which is ridiculous.
I guess I should just give in, HTC method root and then just have fun with it until it explodes
Sometimes issues like this, just require the right tech to look at the device. My wife had a Palm Centro with a really crooked screen that was all scraped up. I took it in, the tech looked at it and ordered a replacement. The replacement still had a slightly crooked screen, but at least it was in primo condition. Lol

Start trying different sprint stores until one gives in...

[Q] Dust Under My Screen, The Last Straw

I wish I didn't have such a perfectionist mind and be crazy about the smallest imperfections, but really HTC, you need to get your **** together. I upgraded to the Evo3D because I had replaced my Evo4G screen 2 times already because of issues with dust and had my hopes very high that by upgrading to the 3D I might finally be able to avoid the problem. Little did I know, I was mistaken. I lurked for many days for some insight into the whole dust situation before even buying the Evo3D and could only find rare occurences so I figured I should be fine. 2 Months later I have one spec of dust. I said okay, its small enough that maybe I can let this one go, but then today I noticed 5 pieces total. This is a quality control issue and I have tried going to the repair center for sprint and they said it was not covered under the TEP plan. What bull****, and HTC wont fix it either. I'm in no mood to fight this issue with them again that this is a manufacturing defect so I decided I'm going to leave the HTC scene. I really regret to even resort to this but I'm very heavily contemplating an iPhone 4, mainly because of the build quality, and the fact that the screens are all on top of one another, there are no open spaces between any of the sheets of glass, therefore there is no room for dust to squeeze its way in there.
If anyone has any way to get the dust out before I jump ship, or rip my head off, please give me some insight. I really love the android community, and it's been very good to me. Thanks in advance.

I apologize that there was no question mark but I bolded this because I was asking for insight. If thats alright with you of course.
Let me rephrase this in the form of a question, Alex. (I actually am interested in the answer because I can't read my clock on sunny days due to the dust.)
"I have a forest of pocket lint growing in the upper right corner of my screen. Has anyone successfully remedied this? If so, could you please share?"

I only had this problem with my HERO. Got it replaced for free, no questions asked. Had the EVO 3D since launch-day. Not a single speck of dust under my screen. I'm not sure how people are doing this, but I'm beginning to think it's the way people treat their phones. The HERO I had was bought from a friend. I take VERY good care of all my phones, and never have these problems. I don't even use a case on my phone. At most, a matte screen protector.
But in all honesty, you probably should've sprung for the TEP plan. I recommend EVERYONE getting it. And if you get an iPhone, you CAN'T get it through Sprint. You'll have to buy Apple One Care, which I think turns out to be more expensive (I may be wrong).

Lifted it out ... after getting it super hot to make the adhesive gooey, right? I've actually built an EVO 3D from parts laying around, and other parts I ordered online. I don't recommend anyone else do this, it was brutal, but it works 100%.
The other big lesson I learned from ordering on-line: While the website may say: "Brand new parts" they may arrive and you find they are brand new, but did not actually pass quality standards in the factory! The 3D I built has tiny, hair-line scratches in the digitizer! Most time you never notice, but "Brand new parts" doesn't actually give you the full story.
Sorry, ranting here.
Just my $.02

My phone has a dust spray on the bottom right corner. Been there since I bought. I'm living with it now since it's out of the way and doesn't usually bother me. But I agree that it's terrible that the phone was shipped this way. I do have Sprint TEP plan but been too lazy to go in.
I've had two HTC phones and do really like them but I'm moving to a Samsung next time for sure. Probably replace this before I buy a new one then sell it. HTC phones are beginning to all look too much the same. Time to move on.
I have the cheap $4 (not including the damage loss) TEP but:
1) I don't want to lose my 1.4 bootloader and get a lousy reman unit.
2) since a bunch of updates (thanks, freeza), it has stopped rebooting at random, which was the only reason I got TEP in the first place
I fear that blowing air in the left side (headphone jack) might move the forest (presently in the upper right) downward, not just rightward. I'm tempted to cancel the TEP and just break it open for a proper cleaning.
I think this was a qc issue. My old evo was 100% clean under the screen. This 3d, after fewer months in the same environment) looks like a freaking dryer vent.

[Q] Cracked Screen SGII

Hey all,
So my parents bought me a US AT&T SGII(not skyrocket) mid October, a couple of days after it came out, and I have loved it ever since. Anyway, yesterday I dropped my phone and the screen cracked pretty badly. There's like a shatter pattern in the bottom right and one long crack going diagonally across the middle.
Are there any suggested routes for getting the screen replaced or repaired... or really any ideas in general?
P.S. As far as I know there is only the default manufacturers warranty which I don't think would cover cracks this bad. I don't believe there is any insurance on this phone or anything like that.
Thanks for your help!
From what I've read, it's around 200 for a new screen.
Sent from my SGH-I777 using Tapatalk
First of all I'm sorry that is your is crack. Like mentioned before you are going to have to play 200 plus for the screen. If you don't have insurance then I suggest that its best to replace the phone its. Most local shops that replace screens will tell you that they wouldn't replace it. Screen plus labor your looking at roughly 300 bucks. That's about the price of a new phone.

I feel bad for the OP.
Hmm, another drop and screen shattered.
Probably a good time to get a case and screen protector.

Did it have a case and screen protector? No case + no screen protector + no insurance = fail. protect your mommy and daddys investment. I have no pity for ppl who dont have protection.

Defective phone. What to do?

Hi everyone. I bought my EVO 4g LTE from wirefly. I noticed that my new phone has a little defect on the border that goes around the screen. I can definitely live with that but its kind of irritating and it can get worse.
If I would want a replacement would I have to go through wirefly or Sprint for that? Also would it be free to get a new one? I do have insurance through the TEP, but wouldn't want to pay $100 especially that I had the phone for only one week. Any advise or suggestions would be appreciated.

whats the defect does it look like you dropped it.also sprint shoulp replace it if it looks like its their fault.for free.
If there's functionally nothing wrong with the phone, just get a TPU cover for it and forget about it.
A replacement device may have dust under the screen, dead pixel(s), random reboots, etc.
Dude you have a little defect on the border? You're going to return the phone cause of that? Like someone said put it in a case and forget it and see a doctor for your OCD.

[Q] Replacing digitizer/touch panel

The touch screen/digitzer is borked on my EVO LTE: the notification area is totally unresponsive. I've done all of the steps re: touch panel drivers, etc and it doesn't help. There are also other symptoms.
It's still under warranty. At one Sprint store they said they'll fix it for $50. HTC said they'll fix it for free as a warranty repair but I have to ship to them and it could take 2 weeks - way too long for me to be without a phone for work, etc.
Anyone know how hard it is to replace the digitzer (assuming I can the part for a good price)? I have a lot experience fixing iPods and I'm thinking it can't be that hard if the kid at the Sprint store can do it in 30 min.
Thanks in advance for any advice.
I have done two on the 4g ..and it took about fifteen minutes. I found it in ebay

I just had my touch screen die. While waiting for my replacement I broke mine down to see if I could fix. The final part it's the bear there is a ton of adhesive holding the screen to the body. There are you tune videos on how to separate, but, it liked fairly daunting to me

Not worth the trouble to separate the LCD from digi.
I say spring for the $50 repair. I would say I can sell you screen but I sell them for $60 shipped.
