Transformer Accessories - Eee Pad Transformer Accessories

This is just a placeholder!

I've been trying to find cases or covers for the Asus but there is nothing out there yet. I'm tempted to just order a Xoom case from ebay and hope that it fits (The Asus is slightly bigger than the Xoom).
A neoprene cover could be a safe bet.

i hope to god we can get a CLIP case for it like the gTab had.....

I brought a ipad 10inch case from amazon and it will be deliver by this week to me, but im sure it fits perfectly

I'd be interested to see. The iPad is an entirely different shape, so if it's anything form fitting, it will not work. A loose case might, something like the "strap in" cases.

It can be pre ordered here http://www.amazon.com/ASUS-Sleeve-C...onics&qid=1303802333&sr=1-1&tag=5336653508-20

that case looks awesome, i like how you can use the velcro to lock the stand that way you can use it on your lap.

Asus Italian Facebook page has been updated with a few shots of forthcoming accessories: docking station, case, HDMI-VGA bacle, and USB adapter.
Here's the link:

Its hard to find good accessories for the transformer this early in the game but you can still find good stuff like HDMI cable, extending the charger cable (asus thanks for making it short!), microSD cards, sleeves.
So far, I've ordered these:
HDMI cable
High-speed mini-hdmi to HDMI cable 6.5 feet
MicroSDHC card
MicroSDHC 32GB Class-10 Card with Reader
Of course the official sleeve/case
ASUS Sleeve Case for ASUS Eee Pad TF101 Transformer (TF101 Sleeve)
And the charger cable extension
USB 3.0 A male - A Female Extension Cable (10 feet)
Not really a asus accessory but for myself I ordered this mini surge protector with dual USB ports... being in south, we get a lot of lightening storms so this is a must (for bed-side and you don't want to buy huge surge protector):
Belkin mini surge protector dual USB charger
I hope ideas help other decide as well.
Enjoy!!!

This is a USB 2.0 cable, and apparently you need a USB 3.0 cable for the TF.

Yeah, its a USB 2.0, it won't work and you can get same 6Feet version of the 3.0 USB I linked above for $1.88...

I updated my post above....with the correct link. Sorry if anyone was out a buck or two on the first link I posted.

A USB 2.0 works. At least it works in my asus transformer for charging and file transfer. It is a simple way to extend the original super short cable.

You'll be the first person to have charging work on USB 2.0 then.
Doesn't work for me. Got my USB 3.0 extension and works with charging.

Rather low-tech, but working solution

I looked around and couldn't find any specs on the Belkin power unit - what is the output amperage for the USB ports? If it's only 500mA, forget charging very fast!

HDMI Dock?

Is there a HDMI dock that will work with the G Tablet? Viewsonic hasn't released one yet.
There is one in existence, but only in China at the moment. Found this:
http://item.taobao.com/item.htm?id=7897273357
I also called Viewsonic CS last week and they said a dock is forthcoming, perhaps in a few weeks.
this will probably be the 1 of the first accessories that I purchase, really looking forward to this

I believe it's been confirmed that this dock connector is not the same as the iPod, PDMI, or Samsung Galaxy Tab connectors. It may likely be similar to the Dell Streak, however this has not been confirmed.
Cheers
The Streak connector doesn't seem to fit.

I was told by some guys in China who work on the Zpad that the $15 dock is a really crappy knock off. They will let me know when cases and docks become available.
Just got off the phone with customer support; they claim that accessories will be available towards the end of november through the first half of december. They also said a massive update is coming on november 22nd. Flash was December 19th.

Well, it's been speculated that the port conforms to the PDMI, There is a pin diagram wikipedia. I don't know if anyone has been able to try the Dell streak cable with the tablet yet, but it's been speculated that it also has a PDMI interface.

i think someone confirmed that dell streak cable did not fit.
According to that picture, it is NOT PDMI.
PDMI actually has 2 rows (sides) of 15 pins.
Also, PDMI does not have Ethernet, although it may be possible that there is a USB hub and Ethernet adapter in the base of that zPad dock.
(Good find, amathophobia)
BTW, I'm the one that originally theorized that the Streak was PDMI, and made the Streak PDMI <--> USB adapter. I have the PDMI pinout on my site.
Hopefully, I'll have my G tab latter today, so I'll revise this if necessary, but I'm pretty sure we know the answer.

This is very cool. Can't wait for those to get here....
The docking station made for the ZPad from China manufactured by MALATA may be the one you are referring too. Here is a link with several pictures of their docking station w/ the ZPad mounted. It looks similar to the one you posted. The connector layout and overall design of the ZPad looks exactly the same as the Viewsonic G Tablet.
What I really like in the MALATA docking station is their built in fan. There has been some discussion that the Nvidia Tegra 2 chip gets a bit hot and if you have the tablet on while in the docking station (perhaps viewing a movie or just w/ the power on), the Tablet should stay cool and never over heat. This is good (as long as it is quiet) since I plan to have the Tablet docked and always on using it like a bed side radio.
Not allowed to post the direct link as a new member but a search of MALATA ZPad featured at China digitalshow should get you to the page.
Any guess weather the MALATA hardware is exactly the same form as the Viewsonic G Tablet?

[Q] HDMI Cable (not docking station)

Sorry if this has been covered elsewhere, but I did a search and couldn't find anything on it. I'd like to get a docking station, but more importantly I would like to have a cable that has HDMI out. This would be "just a cable", and I'd like it to not go through a dock. The reason is for travel. I can handle wrapping up a cable and stuffing it in a suitcase or something, but I don't want to lug a docking station around.
Anyone know if there's "just a cable" for this thing yet? Thanks.
I have seen this come up before and as I recall nobody knew of one.
Do you realize how small the dock is? It's < 5" long by 3" deep by 2" tall - very compact. Weighs a bit more than the stock power adapter, mostly because they added ballast for stability. It is very portable.
My recommendation: buy a dock and forget about obscure cables that may never exist.
If you check out the original thread covering the Zpad Docks you'll see that itSteve has been passing on details of the pin-outs to someone who was looking into making an HDMI cable. I haven't seen a conclusion to this yet, but if one does become available I'm sure you'll see it make a splash in this forum.

Use Search... I and others have posted much on this before. If there was a quick viable solution, the forum will be screaming with it as soon as it appears. Not any time soon unfortunately.
Power needed for HDMI?
I've noticed that without the power plugged into the dock, neither the HDMI nor the ethernet ports work. Wouldn't such a cable then need to supply power as well?
This would most certainly be a huge benefit. I plan on using my GTab for business as well as work. Would be great if a simple cable was available as opposed to the dock. I know the dock is small, but the inconvenience is still there.
There are times I have 15 minutes to get setup and present to potential clients. If I could just plugin a cable, it would be golden!!

Very interesting! Would of just flew by me in that aspect. If this is true, then we can potentially use the ipod to hdmi port that was made for the 4th gen ipods and iphones. Let me know how that turns out. We probably have to create drivers for it though.
"The Viewsonic Tablet also has a 30 pin iPod like connector on the bottom that's used for -- well, nothing at the moment. There is not even any associated cable in the box. It's not actually iPod/iPad compatible, and very sadly, it is not the new PDMI standard. Theoretically, Viewsonic will be coming out with cables and docks that break this connector out into HDMI, charging, USB, etc. Again, it's only theoretical at the moment, but the G-Tablet should be able to crank 720p HD Video out that port. Also seen at the left of the unit in the following picture is the tiny hole for the microphone."
According to
w w w . linuxslate . o r g/Review_Viewsonic_G-Tablet_Android_Tablet.html
**EDIT**
Checked and the ipod version is 30 pin also.... sooooooo i wonder if they line up with the ipod version. The above is probably stating that this has no drivers as of yet, but doesnt mean that devs cant attach a kernal that enables whatever pin to do whatever.
Or is there a certain suit that has to follow? like pin 1 (+ hdmi power) or whatever. Thanks

Even if the connector fits, I'll bet big money the pinout is completely different. No big deal, I just need to find the mating connector. I can make a cable (would have to put an active chip in it to get HDMI output and find power on the connector).
People with a sansa player cable claim it fits, but I wasted $20 on a "sansa break out cable"from a company called Kinetica, but it does not fit......but it fits the I pad.....I told them about it and they claim it is different than than the I pad connector....I tried......
A really quick eyeball inspection seems to show the connector to be *very* similar to the apple docking connector. I'm kind of half-heartedly trying to fidget and see how the plug is modded to fit.
But above all else, I'm no expert. Just someone who wants to see if the plug can be tricked into fitting without wrecking my gtab.

If it works, I will be ordering a dock AND a cable from you.
Can you please take a picture of the connector on the cable? I want to see if they installed all the pins (to break out all the other connections). It would be greatly appreciated.
If both of those work for me, three friends will then be buying a dock and a cable from you, each

I feel a USB A socket to USB Micro A plug cable is a must-have accessory. Amazon.com has the Sony SGPUC1 cable listed for $9.98 USD.
Because of no Gorilla Glass, indeed. Take a screen protector.
I never used one, and I have a little dent in the screen. Nothing serious though (using a non-official case though)
PS3 controller. Got one and use sixaxis from google play and i can use the controller with virtually ALL games. Fifa12 with the controller is fantastic. People just stare at it when im out and about. Brilliant.
Got the usb cable as have got galaxy s2
Which screen protector do you recommend loads in market,
Any one recommend a case for this
Im going to get the sony dock as well
Thanks

I have the same case (or at least very similar). I cut an additional 1.5" square next to the microphone opening (for the IR). now the ir function works just fine, and you cannot really tell that I modified the case. I do really like this case because it is inexpensive but, keeps all of the ports accessable. I think if you are using a dock you would probably have to take it out of the case.
I highly recommend a SDXC card (64gb - 128gb), you will have to format SD to fat32. Once it is formatted suddenly I have tons of space on my 16gb tablet.
Dillenger-
buy a case for sure, a screen guard
An OTG cable, a cool headset and a tablet dock
Cool deivce
I use the official cradle every day. It replaced my alarm clock actually. It's just so convenient to drop and charge instead of fiddling with a cable. And you can switch between brightness settings just by touching the screen so that it doesn't light up the room at night.
picked up this case for mine, its a good case with IR port cutout, although i do wish i got a tuff-luv one, build quality is far superior.

This is such a personal list. Each of us have different needs and desires. I will list what I have.
1- SD Card. Kind of obvious.
2- Slip-in soft case. I have a Swiss Gear case that has an extra pocket up front.

Because of no Gorilla Glass, indeed. Take a screen protector.
I never used one, and I have a little dent in the screen. Nothing serious though (using a non-official case though)

It already comes with a screen protector on the screen.
I got this case from Amazon http://www.amazon.com/Premium-Leather-Screen-Protector-Stylus/dp/B006QQVU5Q/ref=pd_cp_pc_2 and it works pretty well, doesn't have the ir port and don't fit into the cradle, but it's pretty easy to take off.
Anyone found a decent bluetooth mouse that works with the tablet?
sdxc card

I have the same case (or at least very similar). I cut an additional 1.5" square next to the microphone opening (for the IR). now the ir function works just fine, and you cannot really tell that I modified the case. I do really like this case because it is inexpensive but, keeps all of the ports accessable. I think if you are using a dock you would probably have to take it out of the case.
I highly recommend a SDXC card (64gb - 128gb), you will have to format SD to fat32. Once it is formatted suddenly I have tons of space on my 16gb tablet.

Hey, u sure sdxc card can be used on the tablet s? All I need to do is format it to fat 32?
I've been meaning to buy a 64gb sdxc but im worried it might not work with my tablet so I settled for a 32gb sdhc.
I need confirmation and advise from users with experience. Thanx.
Ow yeah, I have the matte screen protector and the official cover from sony (asia pacific region). Now all I need is a stand.

I just got my 64gb sdxc card today and formatted it to FAT32 and it works like a charm. You'll just have to use some tools to format, cause windows won't let you. I used h2format.
Topic: as I just got my tab on Saturday, I just own spoken sdxc card and otg adaptors. Plan on getting a nice case with stand-option.

Dock options

I'm coming from a dying N5, which I "dock" on my nightstand and office desk with the Nexus (4) Orb wireless charger. Fantastic setup since the N4.
I see a few USB-C docks out there, but of course none have been designed for the Pixel (not to say they won't work). For those that do use a dock and will want one for the Pixel, I'm interested to see what people will choose to use or if any manufacturer will make a dock for the Pixel.
Making this thread for discussion and reviews/tests of any docks once we receive our phones. Cheers!
I need one too
Have a few generic USB c ones in my Amazon wish list waiting to press one click

I got this one. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01DT1D7CY/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
It's cheap but seems to be made pretty well, i tried it with my lg g5, seems to work well. It has an attached usb cable but deos not come with a ac adapter, which is good because you can use a good quick charge block with it.

Did that work okay for the Pixel? Seems like an unobtrusive dock, but I'm wondering if the back supports the Pixel or if it'll just be held up by the USB-C connector (clearly not ideal).

The little back piece actually holds it up, I think it would be better if it was a little higher but it did work.
UNBELIEVABLE (read: very believable) that there is a not a SINGLE dock out there that supports USB C fast charging and actually has the proper resistor as to not damage your phone (according to the hardware approved by Benson and Nathan K at Google).
For me, fast charging was a mediocre substitute for wireless charging and now I have neither in a dock.

FYI guys this is *probably* (a lot of these docks are just rebranded, the specific link he reviewed is no longer there, but the dock looks the same) the DEMOM dock Benson reviewed here. Use at your own risk.

There's no way that'll provide quick charging. The other end of the cable is USB Type-A which cannot support the Pixel's fastest charging (18W Power Delivery) nor can it even support the Nexus 6P's fast charging (which is slower than the Pixel's).
Anyone try the https://www.seidioonline.com/product/seidio-desktop-charging-cradle-type-c/ ? It seems to take type c input as well.
That Seidio looks nice, I might pick one up as I'm a sucker for docks...
-Edit- just ordered one, I'll follow up next week when I get to use it.
Found an Apple style dock
I prefer this for about $6. You can't put the phone vertical, but its simple, stable and will accommodate cases. It folds easily into a pocketable piece and it won't over stress your USB C connector on your phone.

I got a couple of these and they're nice. I use my stock charger to plug into the dock. Drop the phone straight downward onto the connector then it hinges on a spring when you lean the phone back. It's a pretty stable dock if you need/want one. I'm using it with a diztronic TPU case and it could take larger too.
I bought this one

How would the Seidio do with a naked phone? I don't use a case, just a skin and wet-apply screen protector. I'd really love to find a good dock that's USBC on both ends, but don't want to stress the connector.
TIA.

It should work fine. Well, even with my slim tpu the phone really rests on the connector, but I'm not worried about damage. It's a stable dock and I like it as it's straight USB-C.
