[Module] AX8NoALS v002 | Disabling light sensor - XPERIA X8 Original Android Development

Tired of the lack of possibility to turn off 'automatic light sensor', I have modified the original driver. The only difference is - I removed code that enables ALS.
Issues:
- sometimes screen wake ups with maximum backlight value and fades to desired value in seconds.
Manual installation:
- push ax8noals.ko to /system/lib/modules
- run the following command
Code:
insmod /system/lib/modules/ax8noals.ko
- set desired brightness.
Until you're sure that it works with your hardware, don't install it to hw_config.sh.
Make sure that module is inserted before lm3530 LMU configuration settings.
Code:
#insert new noALS module
insmod /system/lib/modules/ax8noals.ko
sleep 2
# lm3530 LMU configuration
dev=/sys/devices/platform/i2c-adapter/i2c-0/0-0036
echo als_off > $dev/mode # add this line if system overrides your mode
Release history
v002:
- restored how original modes works:
- i2c, pwm, i2c_pwm: modes without als,
- als, pwm_als, i2c_pwm_als, i2_als: modes with als- added two new modes:
- als_off - disables als in ALS enabled modes,
- auto - enables als in ALS enabled modes.
v001: just recompiled original driver with ALS disabled
Note:
It uses code to remove original driver from doixanh X8Gesture module.

No one has managed to overvolt MSM7227 yet, I've googled about that already. So I doubt it's the kernel problem.

Overvolt can be used to make the phone more stabile at higher frequenses so if we whould have overvolt we whould probobly be able to overclock to 800MHz or more stabile. Undervolt can be used to save power and improve the battery.

That depends on how much you overvolt, your phone can get overheated without overvolt also but it is easier to overheat it with overvolt.
EDIT: Off topic, sorry.

this is not overvolt module thread. please respect the OP.

i hope you post it around feb when I want to throw to garbage my x8 coz of crazy brightness even though i turn it off. Now theres no problem with custom roms

JIT or not?

Should the Dalvik Just in Time compiler be activated or deactivated? I'm suing MiniCM Released by NobodyatAll. Some say it's better to have it off than on, but I dunno.
I have it on, everything works like a charm... just try both, and if you don't see any diffrence, toss a coin ;D

It's a Dalvik Just in Time Compiler.

It boosts the runtime performance, something something.
its better with jit off.... you also save a lot of battery

But why do come up JIT ... May simply not have enough memory and can be decrease dalvik.vm.heapsize = 24. When i do not root phone test this moment, with 24M work best.

[Q] The difference gingercruzt 1.3 with another rom.

I am using gingercruzt 1.3 (I use the P500) and I saw some very good characteristics of this rom:
1. Do tweak more scrip than the other rom.
2. Options undervolt your computing power to work well with the best.
3. Option "use 16 bit transparency" to help smooth over but the picture may change significantly.
So why not use this to apply to the other rom, this is fairly or that.

No, that do not work actually, it only works with xperia x8, as this is a xperia x8 port over, so its just aesthetics. Any undervolting in our device is impossible.

I think it's because P500 have a different voltage set and kernel than in xperia x8
boykioy not so nice where you can have a certain utility, when you stick with that option, the machine is less clear energy

well, if you can apply to every rom, it will open an "era" less energy to P500 android particular and general. kekekeke
As i saw in xperia x8 forum, undervolt didn't have a great effect on battery, and undervolting in our phones(eventhough impossilble) will affect stability even at 600MHZ

Stability as in your won't get any random reboots, kernel panic etc
I find the immediate use gingercrust 1.3 quite well, wait a while longer to see the problem on that something was wrong, then I will change rom
Our kernel does noot support undervolt, the settings are there in the rom but it is not supported.
Other than that, it has many many tweaks, and as a resulkt the scrolling is smoother that any available rom and the responce is very very good.
Thanks

cpu max frequency automatically set to 122mhz only !! *help*

i have a problem don't know if it's related to my custom kernel i use inteks v15 , my neo some times randomly sets it's cpu maximum frequancy to as little as 122mhz only !!
max freq = 122mhz
min freq = 122mhz
and it happens randomly i mean RANDOM !! the device just becomes so laggy even the simplest stuff become laggy and i have to reset the maximum allowed cpu frequancy again to 1401mhz using sexperia to make the device act normal again !
hope some one can clear this up for me......

Maybe you are using 2 similiar cpu frequency changing app.

what do you think ? what could be the cause of this maybe some one can help us more ?

You don't lose anything if you uninstall setxperia.
And if problem after that dissapears...

Here this has happened to me also
So there all right uninstall all apps that change CPU. And if any use just setcpu
If it's happens just a few times then no lasting damage just the fact it may not wake up for a bit but hitting power button fast sorts that just dont set these apps to run at boot and you should have no bother sorry just seen ya post n though ad say

Its possible!--" I saw someone have 1401Mhz CPU speed....
Try go search all X10 kernels... Look at all the kernels' functions / features...
You might find out your ideal kernel and overclock your X10i to 1.4Ghz...
But honestly, you don't need so fast speed on this phone...

If the led turns white and the phone reboots, then the frequency is to high.
Highest I've seen was 1228 but not many chips can run that fast for long.
I stay at a stable 1190.

I use Xperia Ray and
For rooting:
I used eRoot, you literally connect your phone to PC and pres ROOT
Before that you have to enable USB Debugging in Settings->Developer Options.
After four green circles get checked your phone is rooted
For CPU control:
I installed Custom ROM and there i have "no frills CPU control" installed. I don't recommend you to do overclocking or do anything with your processor because you can brick and mess up your device if you don't know what you'r doing.
Also, man already answered, you can download do frills from playstore
If i helped you, please don't forget to hit Thanks button
Cheers
Google link for eRoot, I'm still not able to post links

CpU control lets u control ur phone cpu and its frequency and volatage.
increasing max freq. will increase speed but consume more battery.and risk of burning is also noteable.
so set it after doing research on ur cpu and itr limit.
and u need to be rooted and have a kernel to accses cpu
