Ok wtf!? last night im was chilling playin some black ops and all the sudden my 4g icon was gone when i had check my phone after a text. its been a day now and i still have absolutely no data connection. i called verizon and they said theres no outage in my area (metro detroit). ive tried flashing plenty of radios since and still no data. im starting to get a wee bit butt hurt because i needs my data son! could i have possibly killed the antenna some how? anyone else ever experience this?
Put it in airplane mode. Tben out. Sometimes that helps, try a battery pull? All else fails bring it in and replaced

I've had periods where my Tbolt didn't want to connect to LTE or EVDO for a long time. It generally fixed itself after enough time. Usually way less than a day though. I'm close enough I could probably take a look at it. See if it's your phone or if mine does the same thing.

where abouts are you located? im in roseville. ive been all around today for work (clinton twp, detroit, harper woods and st clair shores) and no connection in either of them areas.

I'm in St. Louis, lost 4g this afternoon. Only 1x now. Could be Verizon, and nothing at all on your end. This is the first time I haven't had 4g since I got my bolt in May.
If its not Verizon, you could pull your sim for about 10 min, then pop it back in and power up the phone.

I'm down in Toledo at the moment. Things are working fine here. Only problem was the outage last night for a couple hours. Changed ROMs and radios since then, too, with no issue.

weather widget is from when i restored the rom, it wont update
edit. did a sim pull for 10 mins and vuala 1x pops up then changes to 3g. about 10 seconds later BOOM! nothing... im gonna try a sim pull for like an hour and see what happens with that. shouldnt be any difference but its worth a shot.
This could be many things, most likely you'll need a new SIM, youll need to unroot and restore stock, go into VZW, they'll give you a new one.

I'm in the same boat! Randomly lost all data a day or 2 ago. Tried everything soo far. Assumed my sim card is dead But people say it's a network problem. I get 3g in Rev.A mode. But nothing in normal mode. I'm pissed. Willing to try a new sim card but not unrooting my phone just for a sim. What would happen if you brought a rooted phone into Verizon. I just want a sim. Would they deny you service? Or put a note on your account stating your phone has been rooted and to void your warranties?
Last time I went to the store I knew more about the phone than all three reps combined. I doubt they would even know its rooted.
Put my phone in LTE mode and got 4g back finally.

If you were returning it, yeah, then I'd go back to stock. But, for a sim swap, you can power it off, and pull the sim for them, they won't even notice it when it boots. Unless of course your boot sound is F*** Verizon or something

im convinced its my phone. went into verizon today and the reps tbolt was working fine both 3g and 4g. we did a sim swap and still nothing although, i did get like 2 mins of 4g love about 3 hours after the sim swap but then right back to nothing after it downloaded some pics from texts.
does this have anything to do with it?

spent an hour on the phone with Verizon and they said the netowrk in my area was fine. After all was done and said they are shipping me a new sim. Today when I woke up my phone had a data connection. I haven't shut it off or anything since the tech call.

yep. it changes to "VZWINTERNET" but once i back out it goes right back to disabled.
verizon is sending me a new phone on monday, they said i just have unroot the phone i have now.
Welp I just copied eveything from the "vzwinternet" apn and made a new one and it worked...

For the past 3-4 hours, my TB has shown 3-4 bars of signal but there is no 4g or 3g symbol next to the bars. When I go to surf the web or even do anything else it just doesnt load. Is the network down or what? I have a friend next to me with a droid 2 and his service is working fine so I'm wondering whats wrong.

I can however switch to LTE only and after a couple reboots get 4G. I've tried toggling airplane and mobile data but that didn't help at all. Are you in North Eastern Florida by chance? The Thunderbolt uses a different kind of 3G from other 3G phones so it's entirely possible for us to not have 3G when other people do.

I had the same problem. I reset down to stock rom s-on. I did anything and everything. Since my wife has the same phone and hers had data symbol but mine didn't. But 24 hours later it went back on.... They already sent me a replacement but I sent it back. My was new. So I would suggest waiting 24 hours.

They'll mostlikely give you another one like they did mine. But like I said it came back on 24 hours later plus when i pull the battery and first boot up ill get 1x then when 3g pops I get no data icon.
I even swap my sim to my wife's tbolt and works great. Good luck

So I had my TBolt for like 6 months now and used to get AWESOME 4G here at work. I went on Vacation and it's never been the same. I don't know if I damaged the phone somehow, or if maybe my towers are somehow locked on to my vacation towes or something.
Ever since I got back, I get 4G SOMETIMES and it's always really flakey, where before it was AWESOME. I have to reboot several times a day as sometimes it will say I have 4G but nothing works.
Any ideas? I've tried numerous ROM/Radio combos...
Is there any config I can do on my end? I bought my Tbolt out of contract on ebay so I can't really replace it

i think the T-Mobile guy replying with that smily face is trying to say you should get a Galaxy S 4G.
i have heard though that since Verizon no longer offers unlimited data plans that they are going to "slow down" people that have unlimited as some cost cutting measure.
at least you got to have 4G though. 6 months now and still no 4G in my area.
you know what they say though, Verizon is one of the most evil corporations next to the Christian Coalition.
You may have a bad sim. Verizon will replace it for you. Also you can try powering down the phone and pull the sim out for about 10 min. Then boot it up. See if it won't lock. Has helped me before.

I am having the EXACT same problem as you =/ I tried AOSP roms, Sense roms, different radios, nothing worked. My mom's thunderbolt still on stock gets GREAT 4g. I guess it's our sim cards. I'm gonna try to go to verizon to get it replaced see what happens
Lol, as a former T-Mobile rep, I would totally NOT encourage you to go to the Galaxy S 4g lol. I'll take dialed down LTE over HSPA+ any day lol!

I just tried to use that new radio for my phone, it didn't work =/ The 4g symbol came on for a couple minutes but the internet didn't work. Then the symbol switched to 3g and the internet worked, but only 3g =/
Edit: ok, so now the 4g symbol stays there, but the arrows next to it dont light up and the internet doesn't work
You are located in a weak signal area. Try to move a couple of blocks away and see if you have better LTE signal.

My phone has randomly started dropping data, and from the hints I gather around the forum this is a normal thing? Or is it a hardware problem? My phone didn't do it the first couple weeks I had it, and now it seems like a regular occurrence.

It's weird because the data speeds on the Rezound (by speedtest) blow the Thunderbolt away, yet it seems to have these more basic connectivity problems.
I've never lost 4G actually.

Well I jynxed myself, I had posted a few hours ago I've never had any problems and surely enough, my 4G was still connected with full bars but just stopped responding until I went into airplane mode and back out. I don't know what that was about but I'm mostly fine.

I used to have that happen all of the time. Even had it happen w/ my Samsung phones on Sprint. Basically the upload arrow would stay lit, the download would stay off, and it would just sit there.
So far I haven't had it since the OTA. *crosses fingers*

I drop it occasionally but it is likely due to bad service.
Normally very reliable here, but had one day last weekend, and again today seemingly that things were flaky. Had the 3g randomly drop out. When it was up I would see the upload arrow going full speed ahead but no down, and couldn't surf. Connection would drop and start again and could surf. Horrible speed test results.
So my issue from yesterday persisted and a mms wouldnt even send this morning. Tried airplane mode but when coming out of it the radio wouldnt come back on seemingly. Rebooted and all is well again. Weird. Cant be hardware if a reboot fixes id think.

I had a Thunderbolt and it dropped constantly. With the Rezound , I've had very minimal data drop and have yet to see 1G since removing LTE On/Off.

Been having a problem lately, my Amaze simply refuses to connect to the T-Mobile network. No matter how many times i reboot it, or how many times i turn airplane mode on or off, it just says "No Signal". I've cleaned all the contacts inside the battery cover, and even went as far as bending them slightly so they have better chance of contact. Any ideas? In some places here in town (including my house) i had at least 2 or 3 bars of 4G, now absolutely nothing, not even 2G. Even went to Energy ROM, still nothing. Can anyone offer any insight?
Sounds like something broke with hardware. Have u tried flashing ruu in bootloader and seeing if going back to stock fixed it?

I was on the stock 531.3 when it started happening.
Get a new SIM card.
Yeah, i have the old style SIM, but never updated to my new 4G SIM. I guess now's as good a time as any. Will post results.
Update: Had them activate my "4G" SIM card. Phone is still showing no signal, but technically they DID tell me it could take up to 2 hours to register. Fingers crossed.

Usually it takes a few minutes. Restart your phone in half an hour.

Call them again and have them walk you through attempting to get it to work. I think you need a new phone. Hopefully they have them in stock!
this is happening to me too! for the past week called Tmobile 4 times all they ever said was to reboot my phone, i was on stock ICS then downgraded to gingerbread and did the OTA ics. its actually working now for me tho.. well kinda. Phone was working perfectly last night woke up mobile data wasnt connected. Put it on airplane mode rebooted turned airplane mode off, now my phone is working perfect again. Might get my phone exchanged tho. Im always tweeting and i cant because cant connect to mobile network. This is seriously annoying lol.
Make sure they associate your phone to your sim in their computer. And check your apn settings

Ever since around the 4th my 4g has been acting up like crazy. I live in Hollywood so I don't think it's a verizon issue. Has anyone else been having problems? I'm thinking maybe it was from an app update with a glitch in it? My phone is totally stock but I have around 400 apps (I know, too many, I can't help it...) I've gone through all of the app permissions looking for an app that can change my network connections but no luck so far. I know this is kind of a shot in the dark but if anyone else had this happen and figured it out that would be great. I'm open to suggestions.

The My Verizon App was recently updated (and removed the homescreen widget, so I didn't update mine), so that might have something to do with the problem.

I have been having this same problem, so is a friend on another device. When we switch to 3g, 4g never returns unless airplane mode is cycled.
My my verizon app is up to date but I still have the data widget. I haven't updated the "location agent" one though. I'm not sure about the 3g working...the 4g symbol just comes and goes so fast I don't think the phone has time to switch onto 3g. It doesn't happen 24/7 but when it does it's like a non stop cycle of on and off (like an app struggling to do something)..

So my daughter just recorded a 10 min video on its a small world. Next time I check my phone I have no 3 or 4 g just bars. I don't think anything of it until I'm elsewhere and my wife has 4g and I don't. I cycle my 4g widgetsoid and get service. Screen off and on and no Vs again. Airplane mode, same problem. Finally I put it in airplane, powered it off and did a battery pull. It's fine now.
I've tried turning the phone off, fully restarting it, pulling the battery, and cycling through airplane mode but I haven't tried pulling the battery off after powering down while in airplane mode though (that was a mouthful). Maybe that's the magic combination... I'll give it a shot and see what happens, thanks. I'll post if it helps out or not.

Had the same issue sporadically. Only app I've added since then is Firefox beta but seriously doubt that is to blame.
Actually had this issue this morning for a bit, then resolved on its own.
I have been having the issue of my 4g randomly dropping, 3g not kicking on (just signal bars), and the 4g coming back when it feels like it.
I did a battery pull, cycling the 4g, airplane mode, etc. and still having the same issue.
This started around Verizon's useless upgrade.

try preforming a factory reset in bootloader. It has fixed my 4g issues

My 4G is fine and I'm rooted and running a custom ROM (Ineffabilis 1.4).
Have you checked if 4G is enabled in your settings?
(Search for 4G toggle in the Play Store)
Some people reported that their phone disabled 4G in the settings for no reason.
Everything was fine for a couple days then all of a sudden it started acting up again...I have a feeling it's the new draw something free app...maybe..

Same issues here (multiple ROMs). 4G has been sporadic or non-responsive and 3G is about as bad. Started a couple weeks ago. I have tried hard resets, ROMs, firmware updates, etc and nothing.
Good to see I'm not the only one.

Ok, so I've had the issue that the OP is talking about since I got the phone like 5 days ago. Since I wasn't rooted (and still aren't) I decided to call Verizon about the issue. I've talked to multiple Verizon techs and after they had me do basic steps, like checking wireless networks settings. Nothing they told me I hadn't tried myself already prior to calling them. I even got a replacement BRAND NEW rezound and sim card and am still having the same issue. I have decided to try and figure it out myself and have been running various logcats to try and narrow the issue down. Problem is I don't really know how to read these logs too well. If there was someone who has more knowledge in reading logcat logs id be happy to upload or send them to you if you think you can help. Any help in resolving this issue would be awesome as Verizon seems to be unaware of the issue up until now and I would like to resolve it before I root. I'm going to give them a call tonight and explain some of my findings to see if they can give anymore input or get me to a higher lvl tech.

According to my findings, it very well could be. I'm thinking it may have something to do with vznavigator. But don't quote me on that as from what I said before, I don't know how to read logcats too well.

Yeah I'm still having issues. There must be something going on with verizon? I haven't dealt with logging yet but I'll look into it and see what happens.
