am I the only one who finds these videos pointless and stupid? amusing to watch sometimes but pointless, nonetheless. Here's a shock, glass breaks when dropped.

>:3 SGS II is pretty durable and in reference to a fall test the plastic actually absorbs impact. Meaning Iphone's glass which is brittle/not flexible takes the full on impact. Meanwhile the SGS II just sorta bounces since it is far lighter/bendy if you will.

I have a wife with a cracked iPhone 4S screen, and I have a beautiful GS2.
Whether or not this is defect with my wife or phone is still up for debate.

Seems that way. She's had the phone less than a day and has already dropped it earning her a fairly deep crack along the upper left-hand side.

Before her iPhone 4S she had a Captivate.
I never heard the end of her constant complaints about the device, so I wouldn't let her buy a GS2. I just don't have the patience.
Sometimes iOS is the best option for a consumer.

I guess I can consider myself lucky that my wife is pretty tech savy so for the most part, I dont need patience because she can figure out most of the stuff herself.

The SGS II has Corning Gorilla Glass that is very impact resistant. The screen is not plastic. I'm not sure what type of glass the iPhone has but its obviously not impact resistant...

the iphone is almost fully covered in glass, which means it will definitely break easily. I dont know what kind of glass it has but I dont think it would have mattered much.

Lil ol SG2 is so thin and light it feels like a delicate toy. Light is a great attribute to have when it comes to being dropped . An ant is small, light, and delicate, but you can drop the joker off a second story window onto concrete and it will still walk away. being heavy and made of glass however, is not so great for dropping lol.

Liquipel I777

Has anyone sent their Galaxy S ii(I777) to Liquipel? I know it's not an option on their list of phones but they still let you send your device. I sent my device on Friday and will receive it back this week, you guys interested in knowing that if it actually works? Ill post up a video of my Galaxy S ii I777 getting ''Wet'' on.

Update! I just posted a video on my Liquipiel-ed Device.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J-MQEXOVMok&feature=youtu.be
Looks interesting but since I got my very first dumbphone I never had problems with getting water on it.
It opens up possibilities, but nothing I need at the moment.
Passing it on to my foolish friends though, so thanks for that!
No problem!
So it makes it water resistant but not proof right?

I saw a product similar to this years ago when it was still in testing, and I thought it looked awesome. (Showed a guy playing with an iPhone 3G underwater).

Yeah I've actually been waiting to see if this catches on.. Good stuff!
sent from my Galaxy SIII ...haha jk, I FOiLed ya!
I want see more reviews as its really new. But This is real. And does work. Here is how.
Hydrophobic nanocules are applied via vacuum. Thus coating the outside AND INSIDE from water molecules (which are bigger than the nanocules) thus can't get in and create a conduction.
It is rated itx-7 meaning it is waterproof to up to 30min at 1 meter (3feet) depth... Jeez. So i wanna go swimming with it

Its not meant for warranty purposes.. This is just for anyone that wants to protect their device from water damage.
Im sure it voids the warranty..
*edit* .. I think they are also trying to get in with (somebody.. I forget, but they mentioned it at CES).. so that phones come with the Liquipel protection - which is a great idea but than the suppliers end up losing money because of not having to replace asany phones.. Not sure how it all works but somebody loses potential mula

i played with this stuff at CES this year. It was Fascinating! They used the stuff on a Napkin and had it sitting in a pool of water. When you pushed the napkin around in the water it never got wet and just rolled off (unless you were extremely harsh with it).
Quite impressive to see. You could also see the water interacting with the screen as it splashed against it (showing that its not just a "fake" cover)

I dropped my Note

So to make a long story short my note fell out of my pocket today while I was helping out at a fundraiser car wash. No major damage done but just a small nick and scratch on the top right corner on the screen and outside. The actual functionality of the phone is fine and I can probably live with it but this small damage is going to eat away at me. So I want to know if I call att and complain about something wrong with my phone will they replace it? I have ensquared insurance and I don't want to use my $75 deductible yet.
And I've had the phone for over 30 days too
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using Tapatalk
I think though that once the damage is seen you'll get charged.

was there a case on it? If not, that is why I always get a case & screen protector. Better to be safe than sorry.

That's what sucks, I had the portfolio case on it because it was a gift, but I've been holding out for an otterbox case because I have a $50 coupon.
I think I might take the plunge because with my Atrix I had a legit issue that couldn't always duplicate but the speaker part was dented plus was unlocked and I was able to swap phones

First of all I was heading up the car wash to raise money for kids to go to a summer camp. I actually brought my atrix with me to swap sim cards but I left it in my car parked across the street. While running across the street it feel out of my pocket. Big picture I am grateful that no major damage was done but also that we all should be mindful how big this phone is and how easy it is to forget. Either way I've decided to just ride it out because any case that wraps around the phone will cover it up.

I cracked my screen I believe by sittiing on on it while in my back pocket. I called Samsung and they would replace the screen fro $197.00. Since I have a Square Trade warranty, I caledl and they could not fix the display so they gave me the full cost to replace it minus $49 decuctible.

Anyone making fun of iPhone users?

I'm sure all of us have been teased by these people, them saying its too big, etc is that a tablet? Blah blah blah! I got sick of it and started reading them back. Curious what some of you have come up with, these are mine.
"*squint* What is that? A phone for ants!"
"Wow your keychain has internet on it? That's awesome!"
"Oh man! How do you read on that thing? The screen is the size of a post it"
I got to admit i love the look on there face when they try out my note.

That's the mentality of iPhone users lol !!! you can't say anything negative about the product.
Me and there of my friends at work have a friendly phone war going on. Two have Androids and the other two have iPhones. We're always trying to "out feature" each other. They had to admit that they both were thinking of switching to Android when we finished with them.

LOL.. I could always elaborate...
I have somehow managed to convince an iPhone 4s user and a Nexus user (both close colleagues @ work) to switch to the AT&T Note just by allowing them to play with my toy. The Nexus user is a Verizon customer that is now seeking to switch to AT&T. That's pretty special IMO.

It does feel good when you show someone your phone and they automatically love it. I had a Dell Streak before the Note and converted 2 people from iphones to the Dell Streak. Amen to that
I had a random awkward encounter today, but it still put a smile on my face. I was waiting for my next class and reading xda on my note, when a completely random girl, who I noticed had been standing nearby for about 5 minutes, walked by and simply said "nice phone" on her way into a neighboring class. I only had time to say thanks before she was in her class, but it was cool that she apparently knew what phone it was and acknowledged it.
Not that I'm looking for attention at all, but I love the simple conversations it can start with people, and I think people are really starting to realize how awesome Android phones can be. I enjoy showing people my Note and the awesome things it and Android can do.
With Android in general, I have loved being different from everybody that has an iPhone, which is seemingly everybody at my college. Even more so, I like how the Note stands out even more, as I guarantee not a single other phone on the market would have piqued that girls interest around my school, as all you see are iPhones, nor would she gave distinguished it from being any other old regular Android phone. This phone is turning heads, and people have taken a huge liking to Samsung recently.

Hey now the iPhone is unique, look at all the pretty cases that they can get fr them. And to the other post regarding the guy coming from a Nexus, tell him if he is into modding to stay with the Nexus as u can't touch AOSP. True Google.

Point being.... The colleague with the Nexus LOVES my Note. End of story. The wow factor got him (and it still gets me every day).

I concur. This thing is amazing. It's my first android phone (I came from a BlackBerry background). It's great to have an "in-between" device that works well as both a phone and a tablet. I'm glad Samsung made such a "big" phone.

Glad to hear. Ive yet to see anyone carrying a Note in person besides me. But it doesnt bother me, makes me feel unique when I whip it out. All I see are people's eyes squinting at their little 3.5" inch screen (yes i'm talkin about the iPhone). Same sized screen since 2007, its old news. Go BIG or GTFO of here.
-Once you go NOTE, you'd say 4 inches a Joke

I had a random awkward encounter today, but it still put a smile on my face. I was waiting for my next class and reading xda on my note, when a completely random girl, who I noticed had been standing nearby for about 5 minutes, walked by and simply said "nice phone" on her way into a neighboring class. I only had time to say thanks before she was in her class, but it was cool that she apparently knew what phone it was and acknowledged it.

She just commented on my phone. Haha. I'm happily in a serious relationship, but if I weren't, the girl was nothing special, no offense to her. The gender/attractiveness was insignificant to the compliment in my eyes.

no im kidding. lol
I'm still getting uninitiated attention in public randomly. This has carried over to the Note from the Streak.
Like if I'm in a regular shopping-type of center, and just standing around using my phone, some random passerby's will notice me and ask about what I'm holding.
But I definitely think this would stick out most in a university lecture hall type of environment.
From asking some random local at&t store sales reps, they said a good share of both genders have purchased the Note. I initially was guessing that it would be mostly guys buying them.

Optimus G2 tease?

I watched the LG CES 2013 trailer video thing on youtube, and general speculation is that the G2 will be announced with a 5.5" screen and bumped up specs from our precious G. What are your thoughts? Will it be a Note 2 competitor, or a G replacement? And how do you think it will affect our updates?

I could never use a phone that big, and I carry a purse.

This phone is already a note 2 competitor
Sent from my LG-E970 using xda app-developers app
Powerwise yes, but the note has a far larger screen. A 5" + screen would make it a closer competitor. See LG intuition for where I'm coming from.

What does anyone need that massive for a screen for lol. Besides if someone wanted that, wouldn't they just get the note 2 instead of this? I don't understand. :x

Agreed, minus the purse. I have large hands and having tested a Note 2, I think the LGOG, and phones of the same size for that matter, have reached the optimal size for traditional use, IMO.

Ask the millions of Note 1&2, or for that matter tablet users. Or ask why anyone needs a screen bigger than the 3.5" one Apple first put out.

It's called competition. The Note phones have proven there is a market for phablets. I'm going to guess you're not studying economics or business.
I returned my Note 2 in under a week. It is too damn big.
I'll be at CES next week. Hopefully there will be something interesting to comment on.

Then I guess this will blow your mind: http://t.co/91c3vTNA
I believe with LG's newfound success regarding the G, a direct attack on the Note would be fantastic, as well as possibly a new tablet. The G2 would fulfill the phablet competition that currently hardly exists. The LG Intuition is too wide, but a form factor like our G with the larger screen would be fantastic. Add a pen display, as well as having quickmemo, and the Note has real competition. Considering LG Displays is suing over the Note 10.1 in Asia, this may indeed be their plans in a nutshell. As HTC slowly falls (sad but apparently true), it's time for Samsung to have a true competitor in the Android market. I would love to see Motorola to come out of the blue, but that seems doubtful to happen. LG has an opening, and I think they should take it. I've been a Samsung fan, and still somewhat am (the siii disappointed me), but I think nothing makes products better like competition. The iphone is competition of course, but there needs to be android competition, or devices will get progressively worse.

If it is actually 5.5 inches then I don't mind even if it is technically the successor to this phone. Only thing id like in this phone that the g2 has is the 1080p screen and the camera if its any better

... I'm not talking about tablets. If I was talking about screens in general, I would be complaining about laptops, desktops, and tv's as well. But I'm not. It's a personal opinion, and a personal opinion of a few others, that a phone doesn't exactly need a huge screen. To each his own if they prefer that size. Apple has a ridiculously tiny screen, so I'm not really sure why they were even brought up lol. Considering I'm a girl, I have naturally smaller hands and have no desire to hold a phone that I need to doublefist. And even some men agree, it's too much.
No reason to be so nasty, Butler. (;

Sorry, not trying to be nasty. Just trying to point out that just because you (and for that matter, I) have small hands doesn't mean that everyone does, or that there's only one size that the market wants (as Apple seems to believe). Everyone thought Sammy was crazy for putting the Note out there, but since it and its followup have been very successful, it's only natural that other OEMs want a piece of the action. I'd like the big screen (even if I did have to double fist it), but there's no way I'd be comfortable having that thing in my pocket, and I'll be damned if I'm wearing a holster for a phone.
I'll be honest, I can't reach the whole screen of the OG with one hand, but I don't care. I arrange my icons to be close to my thumb, and use two hands when I have to.
Didn't mean to offend.

I'd rock a holster like a fanny pack. :B
Except not, haha. I guess I'm in luck with the whole small hands + long fingers thing (my grandma has always told me I have piano fingers). My only fears of extending my fingers is that it slips out of my hand and falls on the ground. I have a case, but I still use at least one hand to balance it. Can't get too ballsy with this phone.
No new smartphones from LG announced. The tease was a smart remote. Nothing more.
