[Q] Restore Stock HC Calendar app - Galaxy Tab 10.1 Themes and Apps

Hi,
Is there any way to restore the Calendar Stock honeycomb application please? TouchWiz's calendar is VERY slow and the UI looks ugly and cluttered!
Thanks in advance

I too would be very interested on how to bring back a few aosp apps/widgets.
Namely the aosp email widget.

YAY
After a couple of hours searching and nothing turning up, I decide to have a poke around in system.
I copied Email.apk and Exchange.apk from task & phantoms ex-stock rom and installed them via root explorer. attempted to launch and i got a force close. turns out previous data was causing problems, but i used titanium to delete data. and it works a peach!
Finally got rid of that hideous email widget!
and it works with the calendar app too.
how:
0. Nandroid backup!
1. install root explorer and titanium backup
2. extract the aosp apks to somewhere in your 'sdcard'
3. use root explorer to copy and paste the apks into system/app.
4. Use titanium back up to wipe data from the email and/or calendar app.
5. reboot (not sure if this is necessary)

Wow thanks a million, that worked great! Reboot is not required

Um, seemed to work with email, but got sync errors with calendar after changing apks....
And it would be great if the contacts app could also be changed to stock HC
Maybe a dev can make an update zip?

OK
i tried again and changing Email back to HC-stock works perfectly without any problem.
but changing Calendar to HC-stock with the files attached to this thread results in sync error both with Email (Exchange) and Gmail...
too bad. I (as many I think) really don't like the touchwiz apps, and wish it would just be HC-stock apps (Email, Calendar, Contacts...)

need to delete all activesync accounts
wipe app data either in settings or with Titanium
reboot
remove TW apks for Mail, contacts and calendar (if you have no done it)
copy and paste HC default apks for the above
reboot
Enjoy

Ok. I will try that.
You mention contacts... Do you have the non-TW contacts apks?

I took the email and contacts apk from DocRambone's Slim V6.5 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1198921) and the calendar one from this thread. They work no issues in overcome rom.

It doesn't work for me.
I followed your guide by the letter
- Email works, but have a dysfunctional unread counter over the app icon now
- calendar works, but wouldn't accept gmail or email for syncing. In accounts and syncing calendar appears as com.calendar.... not as Calendar
- contacts doesn't even setup the app shortcut and is not in the app list in titanium. In accounts and syncing contacts appears as com.contacts.... not as Contacts

How are you moving apks in and out of the app folder?
And what rom are you on?

[Q] Lost facebook account contacts after voodoo install

I just got done installing voodoo, and everything went very smoothly. 1735 quadrant score, and it fixed the lag I got when adding an application shortcut on the home screen. However when I went into contacts I noticed that all of my facebook contacts were missing. I thought no problem, I'll resync my facebook account. However, when I go into accounts and sync then add account all the integrated contact accounts are missing. I see the heading that says integrated contacts accounts, but nothing is listed underneath.
Under more accounts I can add a corporate or google, but if I click facebook it highlights but doesn't launch. I uninstalled voodoo without a problem, went into CWM and restored my backup I made right before voodoo. I still can't access the add facebook account.
Any ideas? I liked sync profile pictures, and checking updates in contacts.
That's weird man. Look in your system files to see if the social hub apk is still there. If so clear the data in settings-applications-manage applications.
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
I found I had to do a Factory data reset on my phone when I had a similar problem. I screwed up and had to return to stock and when I did, the facebook account friends would not sync up right. Did the factory reset from the Privacy menu and it's been working great since.
I think I figured out my problem. I moved back even further in my backups, and got one that still had facebook sync'd. I search through my system folder and noticed SNSaccount.apk was in the app folder. In the how to root, install cwm, remove bloat... thread it mentions that this file is ok to freeze. Well instead of freezing bloatware apps in titanium, I used root explorer to move them to a junk folder on the SD card.
That seemed to fix the issue. I reinstalled voodoo no problem, and facebook sync was fine. I alerted the OP in the sticky thread to mention that this issue might occur if the SNSaccount file is moved.

Help replacing S Planner with AOSP google calendar

Hi,
I'm not into the samsung S Planner as I'm having trouble syncing my calendar events. I want to replace it with the AOSP google calendar but not 100% sure how to do it!
I have removed SecCalendar.apk and SecCalendarPrivider.apk from /system/apps and replaced with Calendar.apk and CalendarProvider.apk from CM9. Not working though!
Can someone please tell me the steps I need to do?
Cheers
EDIT: I should add that I have a calendar app in the app draw that opens and works - I just can't get it to sync with google.
Surely someone can help with this?
Did you make sure to change permissions and reboot?
I think from memory its -rw -r -r

Make a backup, do a full wipe - see whether that works. I have replaced my calendar (and more) in exactly that way and works fine.
Do what I did.
Download Android 4 ICS Calendar from the Google Play Works for me!
Good luck
Thanks for your suggestions - Unfortunately I still can't get it to work!
I tried changing the permissions and even changing the .apk name to match the original SecCalendar. Calendar works but it won't sync.
Is there another .apk that I need to swap as well?
S Planner is just a tweeked Calendar ap. If syncing was working to start with, it's not going to work by changing the app you use to view with.
Have you checked your sync settings are correct/enabled, that the calendar is fine on other devices.
My gCals all pulled through and work fine with S Planner.

Calendar does sync with S Planner - it's just that for some reason some events don'y sync with it that sync properly on google calendar on CM9.

[A] Disable Google Contacts Sync & Force Store Locally in ICS

Reclaim your Contacts !
Actually turned out simpler to do than i initially thought it would be.
Enables "Keep Locally" ( keep_local ) option for adding new contacts instead of forced google account.
Prevents google from deleting all you contacts when you remove your account
Disables google contact sync
The offending package comes with gapps if you got google that way.
GoogleContactsSyncAdapter.apk you will find it in /system/app/ (need root file explorer to see it though)
You can make this fix in 3 ways, the first may not need root but i cant test as my phone is rooted.
In Settings>App find it in the list of all installed apps, click it, click disable. (please someone tell me if they can do this without root)
Use a root file explorer such as "Root Browser", navigate to /system/app/ backup the app .apk to your sdcard for example, then delete it.
You can also try clicking the app .apk in "Root Browser" and choose uninstall, but i could get this to work.
Thats it ! , no need to reboot. Enjoy
(to test it worked, just navigate to Settings>Accounts>(your google account) and you will see there is no longer the option to sync contacts)
:highfive:

What would be the thing to replace this with? It's important to have something as convenient as what we're replacing. You can export you contacts to a single .vcf file. This can then be bluetoothed over to your desktop, uploaded to a server or transferred by USB or sdcard but what we really want is something as convenient as Google Contacts which syncronises to a place/server that you control automatically and easily.
Not sure if there's an alternative app out there though for this?
There's Go Contacts, ContactMoney and alternative dialers but I don't think these have alternative sync methods.
I think I'd prefer something from the fDroid/homebrew/commandline way. Perhaps a SyncML solution, or just something that automates the process of exporting contacts, encrypting them with a basic password and uploading to dropbox or an email address.
i was thinking the same thing, like ftp/sftp backup. it could be done pretty easily but i may not be the person to do it , i havent looked around though and suspect there may already be something already that could do this...
btw, yes i love f-droid too and recommend everyone to install its repo browser app and check out whats on offer.

In f-droid you find funambol (syncML), LDAP Sync and aCal (CardDAV).
I don't use any of them (to lazy to set up a server) but with some effort you should be able to make contact-sync work for you.

I purged GoogelContactsSync and GoogleCalendarSync from my device.
For syncing I use SyncMate(free), which I found pretty convenient.
hotmail/corporate sync
This worked fabulously till i decide to use a Hotmail account (with the stock email app), from that moment on the problem reappeared, just instead of trying to store the contacts in gmail, it now tries to store in Hotmail/corporate account!!!!
Has Google hired all the stupid developers that Microsoft fired??? Microsoft is becoming famous for it ability to consider their clients stupid and the attitude: when-know-what-you-want-better-than-you, now Google seems to be going with the same mentality!
Any idea how to stop this on the hotmail account?
p.s. my only workaround was to use the Hotmail app instead of the stock email app, unfortunately the Hotmail app (Microsoft, remember?) thinks i will never need to see any email older than 30 days?!?!?! WTF???

I use MyPhoneExplorer - it syncs my local contacts to my Thunderbird and vice versa. It syncs calendar events too ... so eventually I've got a copy and it's all local. One thing it doesn't do is contacts photos, so I also use SuperBackup to make a copy on my SD card (this way I can get the pictures up quickly).
When contacts are in Thunderbird (I've created there an address book just for syncing the phone) I can re-arrange, edit, etc. and when syncing back the pictures are retained ... Then I do SuperBackup to have a copy of new phone book with pictures.
Regards,...

This little app will do the trick:
play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.fjsoft.mylocalaccount
After you install it, go to Accounts and create one "MyLocalAccount". After that, all you have to do is to transfer your contacts from the Google account into the "Local contacts" account just created. You can do this with the built-in Export/Import contacts tool.
f . . k the google, they work for attack to our privacy only :\
Hi, i want to reverse this topic
sync google accounts
It's been a while since I've been through this, but unfortunately I have a similar problem. My problem is "Google account" in accounts and sync. But I can only select google photos when I click on the sync mark. No selection box for contacts. How can I fix that?
The device has clone s3 and ics 4.0.4 on it. The gapps packages available for this release also do not work. It does not synchronize people in any case. I cleaned the data from the applications, I deleted Accounts.db and reinstalled it.
Finally, I found the following lines for Accounts.xml and added it, but still there is no positive situation. What else can I do? Thank you.
Syncable = "true"> <authority id = "3" account = ".." type = "com.google" authority = "com.android.contacts"
<PeriodicSync period = "86400" />
</ Authority>

[Q] My stock Contacts app was deleted/uninstalled. How to replace?

I'm not sure how it happened, but my stock Contacts app is no longer on my phone. The Contacts storage is there, as an addon dialer can still make calls to existing contacts. I cannot, however, add contacts or do anything else that requires the Contacts app.
My Note has never been rooted and is running only apps from the Google Play store. I am hoping that there is a way to simply reinstall the apk if one is available, but I am interested in any suggestions people have.
Thanks!
If your not rooted then I'm not sure how a system app was uninstalled, did you double check your app drawer it could just be deleted from your homescreen

It didn't make sense to me either, but it is gone from the app drawer. I use the ContactsEX app and it can pull from the Contacts Storage, but when I attempt to add contacts, edit contacts, etc., the stock Contacts app does not appear.
A few minutes ago I did download from one of the forums here the stock Contacts apk. When I attempted to install the apk, installation failed because a file of that name already existed. Since that suggests that the original apk is there somewhere, would a hard/factory reset work to get the Contact app back?
go to system settings and apps. you want to view all. see if it lists contacts. if it is there then the third party conacts app may be the problem. make sure it is not set to be default app. maybe try clearing data for the app and reboot.

It wasn't in the system apps list. I uninstalled the third party contacts app, but then I had no way to get to my contacts or dialer. When I reinstalled the third party contacts app, I again had access to the existing contacts and could place calls. Still no way to access the stock contacts/dialer or edit existing contacts.
If a system reset would fix this, that's cool. I just don't want to do a reset and then still have the problem.
A factory reset should fix this, maybe consider rooting and flashing a rom

If I fix this, then my wife says she will take this phone and I can buy a Note II. Then I will root.
If that's the case then factory reset or Odin back to stock and get a note II man.
Simply rename the new contacts apk by adding a single number or letter to the end ...then it should install, and avoid the duplicate file failure ....
Or ....get a note 2.....that'll fix it ....LOL ...g

[APP] AOSP Email App Works on Stock Rooted TW

Since I first got the GS4 I hated that the stock TouchWiz email app didn't let you load up your Gmail account with it. I really like being able to have all of my email accounts (including exchange) in one app and therefore I really don't like having to use multiple apps for multiple email accounts. So , today I finally decided to try and get the AOSP email app working on stock TW because I have always really enjoyed that email app. All I did was pull the email and exchange apks from the latest CM nightly, copied them over into system>app using Root Explorer, and changed the permissions (shown below) and what do you know...it worked!
There is one thing you need to make sure you do though: after you do this, restart your phone and then go into Titanium (or whatever) and clear the data from both the email app and the exchange app. They will be all weird and FC if you don't do this first, but after doing that they work like a charm. The only issue I have is that I can't set Gmail up with Push notifications, but it's not a huge deal and much less annoying than having to use multiple apps.
I figured I would let everyone know in case there are others out there like me. I have attacked the two apks to this post and someone is welcome to zip them up into a flashable if they so choose. And of course do this at your own risk, I am not responsible if you manage to screw this up somehow.

I was on stock rooted MDK for a while and I could do the same thing. I'm on Hyperdrive ROM now and did it there too. You just need to select the "others" option when adding a new account, enter your gmail login info, and it adds it like any other IMAP email account.

Yep gmail works fine on stock email app as an imap account, no push though and sometimes it's finicky about updating at the scheduled intervals.

When you say finicky at updating at scheduled intervals, what do you mean? Because my GS4 stops syncing automatically at exactly 8AM and 5PM even with peak settings off. It wont restart auto syncing until I manually sync once after 8AM, and again after 5PM.
