Help replacing S Planner with AOSP google calendar - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I'm not into the samsung S Planner as I'm having trouble syncing my calendar events. I want to replace it with the AOSP google calendar but not 100% sure how to do it!
I have removed SecCalendar.apk and SecCalendarPrivider.apk from /system/apps and replaced with Calendar.apk and CalendarProvider.apk from CM9. Not working though!
Can someone please tell me the steps I need to do?
Cheers
EDIT: I should add that I have a calendar app in the app draw that opens and works - I just can't get it to sync with google.

Surely someone can help with this?

Did you make sure to change permissions and reboot?
I think from memory its -rw -r -r

Make a backup, do a full wipe - see whether that works. I have replaced my calendar (and more) in exactly that way and works fine.

Do what I did.
Download Android 4 ICS Calendar from the Google Play Works for me!
Good luck

Thanks for your suggestions - Unfortunately I still can't get it to work!
I tried changing the permissions and even changing the .apk name to match the original SecCalendar. Calendar works but it won't sync.
Is there another .apk that I need to swap as well?

S Planner is just a tweeked Calendar ap. If syncing was working to start with, it's not going to work by changing the app you use to view with.
Have you checked your sync settings are correct/enabled, that the calendar is fine on other devices.
My gCals all pulled through and work fine with S Planner.

Calendar does sync with S Planner - it's just that for some reason some events don'y sync with it that sync properly on google calendar on CM9.

[Request] SemcCalendarBridge.apk

Tried to change stock calendar but still failed. Trying to use stock calendar back. Found Calendar.apk and SemcCalendarProvider.apk http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=838438 but not SemcCalendarBridge.apk. Calendar is fine but sync is broken. Any help/tutorial to replace calendar or the .apk is appreciated.

Sync only works after you have given permission to sync. If the question was asked, it might have been on a moment you where not able to answer, then sync will not work. You can however see the question by pulling town the top, there it will be in one of the messages.
In the other case, indeed replace Calendar.

Nope. Sync does not work after i removed the SemcCalendarBridge.apk. Other function seems fine. I just need a copy of the apk. Reflashing from Update Service sucks though..
*Update* Sync working with new calendar. Nice gui than stock ones
what calender did you use now?
screenshot?
and can you write down the steps to successfully replace the calendar?

Google Calendar

Any chance of getting google calendar loaded and working on manual nootered 1.2?
Any other apps that will sync?
Thanks.
Both Calengoo and Business Calendar sync nicely. Bus. Cal. was Amazon's free app a couple of days ago - I like it for its Widgets.

From 1.2 Nook Color
Business calendar free shows no calendars to select. Don't want to spend the money to see if calengoo works.
Anyone have calengoo working on nootered 1.2?
You need to have gapPS installed or you winner have the calendar sync file
From 1.2 Nook Color
So excuse me if this is a lame question but is the gapPS file safe to load on a ManualNooter NC with 1.2.0?
I posted this the other day in the "General" forum,
"I did do a search for this issue and there are other folks having this issue in the Development Forum, but I can't post on that forum. Used ManualNooter 4.4.27 for 1.2.0 (worked great by the way! Thanks). I can not figure out how to get my google calendar to sync. I have tried the "add account" again procedure, didn't work. Won't accept a dup. account (never had that popup before). I have tried deleting my gmail acct in the new NC stock email app. and that didn't help. Went in to Nook Color Tools, to Manage Apps and cleared defaults and data, didn't help. Anyone have any idea? Oh yeah when I go to gmail, accounts, account settings and click settings for gmail, under Data & synchronization, syn calendar is not listed. Thanks!"
I haven't gotten a fix for this problem yet. If anyone can help I'd appreciate it.
I found my solution using:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=910008
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=11982209&postcount=702
GalenGoo works great
Just loaded it onto our nookcolor. Great improvement over Jorte.
For more info go to calengoo.dgunia.de/Start.html (It's for the iPhone version but is the same on Android).

No, you must manually copy or push the individual files over to the system /app folder.
From 1.2 Nook Color
Do you know where I can get the needed files?
Also Calengoo works, thanks, but I'd like to see my google calendar sync working as usual through the system software.
Thanks, CalenGoo works, seems to be a good app.

[Q] Android without gmail ?

Hi there
I am on Android since about 2 months, using a HTC Desire S. As I am allergic with Sense, I direclty installed a custom rom, from wich I deleted useless applications to me.
This is when I figured out that deleting Gmail will prevent the calendar to work ("You have no calendars").
So I got connected to my Gmail account from the web (created especially to access the android market), and I noted that my calendar were syncronized, and worst, that all my contacts from the phone were there too.
I am not quite parano, but I'd like to know if there is a way to keep the calendar and contacts only on the phone.
Autosync is disabled on my phone, but it had probably been enabled on the early days, so would disabling the auo sync prevent FOREVER my calendar and contacts to be uploaded to gmail, and manly, is it possible to use the calendar without installing the gmail apk ?
Thank you
Can't tell you about what the sync is doing, because I honestly do not care, so I haven't looked into it, BUT what I can tell you is that the calendar works beautifully eventhough I don't have GMail installed.
Thanks for your information
Well then...
I found somethin' about these apks :
GoogleContactsSyncAdapter.apk
GoogleCalendarSyncAdapter.apk
But I did not delete them, I can find them on my /system/app/ folder, when I tried to install them it asked me if want to replace it, I said Yes but then I have the report with the green check (as a good thing happened), but next to it it's writtent "Application not installed"...
Well it did nothing I think but this doesn't seem to be my issue, as they are already there.
OK,
What I had to do, is simply go in the "account & sync settings" menu, click on my gmail account (synced off) and then launch a calendar sync...
So this is a force go, if you want to use calendar, you need to sync it at least once.
Quite fair but could be better, even Bada needs a Samsung account to use the store since Bada 2.0...

[Q] Restore Stock HC Calendar app

Hi,
Is there any way to restore the Calendar Stock honeycomb application please? TouchWiz's calendar is VERY slow and the UI looks ugly and cluttered!
Thanks in advance
I too would be very interested on how to bring back a few aosp apps/widgets.
Namely the aosp email widget.
YAY
After a couple of hours searching and nothing turning up, I decide to have a poke around in system.
I copied Email.apk and Exchange.apk from task & phantoms ex-stock rom and installed them via root explorer. attempted to launch and i got a force close. turns out previous data was causing problems, but i used titanium to delete data. and it works a peach!
Finally got rid of that hideous email widget!
and it works with the calendar app too.
how:
0. Nandroid backup!
1. install root explorer and titanium backup
2. extract the aosp apks to somewhere in your 'sdcard'
3. use root explorer to copy and paste the apks into system/app.
4. Use titanium back up to wipe data from the email and/or calendar app.
5. reboot (not sure if this is necessary)

Wow thanks a million, that worked great! Reboot is not required
Um, seemed to work with email, but got sync errors with calendar after changing apks....
And it would be great if the contacts app could also be changed to stock HC
Maybe a dev can make an update zip?
OK
i tried again and changing Email back to HC-stock works perfectly without any problem.
but changing Calendar to HC-stock with the files attached to this thread results in sync error both with Email (Exchange) and Gmail...
too bad. I (as many I think) really don't like the touchwiz apps, and wish it would just be HC-stock apps (Email, Calendar, Contacts...)

need to delete all activesync accounts
wipe app data either in settings or with Titanium
reboot
remove TW apks for Mail, contacts and calendar (if you have no done it)
copy and paste HC default apks for the above
reboot
Enjoy
Ok. I will try that.
You mention contacts... Do you have the non-TW contacts apks?

I took the email and contacts apk from DocRambone's Slim V6.5 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1198921) and the calendar one from this thread. They work no issues in overcome rom.
It doesn't work for me.
I followed your guide by the letter
- Email works, but have a dysfunctional unread counter over the app icon now
- calendar works, but wouldn't accept gmail or email for syncing. In accounts and syncing calendar appears as com.calendar.... not as Calendar
- contacts doesn't even setup the app shortcut and is not in the app list in titanium. In accounts and syncing contacts appears as com.contacts.... not as Contacts

How are you moving apks in and out of the app folder?
And what rom are you on?

[Q] Google Calendar not showing events?

Hi all,
Am running 4.1.1 on a rooted I9300XXDLIH ROM.
I have removed and reinstalled the Google Calendar app as it wasn't working, and still doesn't.
The phone is associated with my Gmail account, but it won't show ANYthing on the calendar. I have checked 'which calendars are displayed' etc but there are no options. Clicking on 'new event', it just hangs on 'loading'...
Any ideas? The Gmail calendar is so useful and I'm missing it!
Is the sync option checked in your google account?

Seems to be an issue on some ROMs. I had same issue.
1. Disable your Google calendar first. Uncheck in sync options
2. Then in all applications cleat data and cache for splanner and splanner widget.
3. Re add Google calendar.
4. Try the calendar now and if it doesn't load events just click sync in calendar setting menu
These steps worked for me

Thanks for the reply.
There isn't a Google Calendar sync option in the list for some reason. There's contacts, Gmail, Reader, books, etc. but no calendar?
Also, there's a SPlanner widget, but no SPlanner? I froze it with RootUninstallerPro, have unfrozen it but it won't come back.
Not only that but Google contacts won't sync for some reason, Fasterfix (improves GPS fixing) won't load, etc. I think I might go back to an earlier version of Android, or perhaps an earlier version of 4.1.1.

Click on your username on the attached picture at the top and it will give you sync options for contacts and calendar.
Sounds like you may need to reinstall. Once you clear caches it works fine
