****, did not see the other thread, close please.

Please, enough already. What's the point of creating another thread... particularly one accomplishes nothing.

****, my bad, i did not see the other one.

you know i bought a samsung galaxy tab 10.1 a few weeks ago and then found about the transformer prime. It looked really nice and it was the first tegra 3 tab, so i returned the tab 10.1, thinking i'll just pick up the transformer prime.
that was then and i am still waiting. lol
seeing as how the release date has come under question so many times, then reading numerous articles about quality control and wifi issues... i am starting to have second thoughts.
its clear that Asus doesnt have their business channel and distribution under proper control. The lack of communication between consumers, retailers and Asus is disturbing.
This is where you appreciate the structure a company like Apple has for example.
Anyway, i am patiently waiting just like all of us here and hoping for the best. Hopefully this Christmas I would have a new toy to play with.

Is XDA just the new place to complain?

I came to a realization last night. While I used to come to XDA for up to date info, mod information and general discussion involving the Android products I enjoy or are looking forward to...these days I have to sift through so much crap its loosing its luster.
Take the Prime for example. Everyday, people are *****ing and complaining about GPS or Wifi or BT or screen banding or whatever. Here is some advice. Go return your Prime or sell it on EBay or Craigslist to any of the masses that are dying to get their hands on this tablet. It is amusing to read all these threads of individuals taking their Prime so personally as if Asus stole your kids lunch money. If it is not obvious by now, any issue with this tablet are not widespread. My wifi works great, as does BT. GPS doesn't but why would I ever use it on a 10" tablet? That is what my Galaxy Nexus is for.
Long story short, if you are not happy with your purchase, return it and stop wasting my and everyone else's time writing rants about how Asus is evil and wronged you personally. If you made your purchase from a store that doesn't accept returns, then you are an idiot in the first place, but you can always hawk it on eBay or Craigslist. If you have something to add to an issue, by all means continue to post new threads, but 80% of what I am reading sounds like a bunch of 18 years olds complaining that life isn't fair. Welcome to the real world. Return your Primes, move on and relax a bit. Many of us are enjoying this tablet and come here for actual information....not Jersey Shore.

Considering that most of the big players read these forums this is the perfect place to complain if you want your words noted.
As XDA serves advertising just as much as it serves info and support complaining about complaints or asking us not to is utterly unreasonable.
Anyway, you are just as guilty about *****ing as anyone else, what do you think your post amounted too?
you nailed it.. its daycare for the internetz.
Kids come and stay here for hours bouncing off complaint to complaint
by the time they are done.. they are so tired they just go to bed..
well said.
So wait... the OP came to complain and people complaining... fail
In before the lock!!!
I feel like if anyone wanted to be heard, then they would just contact the manufacturer and then get back to us with anything they say. All of these people are just posting with the hope that doing the least stressful and easy thing (posting here) will fix their gps/wifi/screen problem when really if theres a problem they should just get a new unit or talk to Asus. I don't really mind complaining as much as I do redundant complaining. I know I don't want to hear anything about the gps anymore personally.

Fair point. Although maybe people will read it and put their egos aside, return the devices they like to complain about all day long and move on. This post is not to serve my bruised ego like many other posts that I am talking about are.

I tend to Agree with the OP. This used to be a place about solutions to problems not a place to ***** about them. There is still plenty of useful information here it just is becoming harder and harder to sift through all of the crap to find it.

Can we make a sub-forum for whiners??? This is easily the best Android tablet I've ever used. For quick reference I've have Ipad 1, Xoom 3G, Xoom wifi, Ipad 2, Galaxy Tab 10.1 16GB and now Transformer Prime. Long story as to why I've gone through all those but if anyone is complaining about ICS and Tegra 3 Prime, you need to be humbled with the Xoom on release.

I am tired of all the complaints, yes. There are issues, we know of them, Asus knows of them. Yet more threads about how someone is taking their Prime back or canceling their order are just growing tiresome.
We have a rule here about limiting preorder threads to one per country... perhaps we need a rule for limiting ourselves to one complaint thread.
>these days I have to sift through so much crap its loosing its luster.
You do realize that your post is a complaint itself, right?
Ie, given that your post doesn't contain any "up to date info, mod information and general discussion involving the Android products [you] enjoy," it is noise. You are contributing to the problem, as am I and everyone in this thread.
The solution is simple: discriminate. Read what you want, and ignore the rest. There's no law saying you have to read everything. Sift better. It's not anybody's responsibility to make sure you like everything you read.
Yes, noise level is higher. It's a given for any forum once it gets more popular. That's life.
If you want to improve the SNR, contribute. Don't post another ***** thread.

They released this tablet knowing it had issues, they rushed this tablet to the market and most of us feel cheated! Where is the "Persistent Perfection"? It is their company motto! We need to do this to get them to realize their mistakes!
We can all agree that this tablet is plagued with issues, Big or Small; Noticeable or Not; Software or Hardware; Customer Support or Communication.
Known issues we need to stand up for! Whether you experience them or not!:
BLUETOOTH INCOMPATIBLE WITH WIFI!
WEAK/SLOW WIFI!
GPS NON FUNCTIONING!
SCREEN BLEED!
MELTING/OVERHEATING CHARGERS
UNKNOWN SERIAL #'s!
RANDOM LOCKUPS/REBOOTS!
LESS THAN ACCEPTABLE SUPPORT!
HORRIBLE QUALITY CONTROL!
TERRIBLE RMA EXPERIENCES!
DEAD PIXELS!
DUST UNDER YOUR SCREEN!
ETC!
Then to top it all off they are now dedicating all their resources to multiple new tablets (7000t 3000t, 3g prime, Memo, and the Padphone), instead of doing what is right and fixing the first one!
THE GOAL IS TO ATTACK UNTIL THEY RELEASE SOME SORT OF REPLACEMENT/REFUND/EXCHANGE PROGRAM!
We need YOU to Tweet, Comment, and Sign the Petition
AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE
Comment!
Comment their other pages!

Sign the Petition! ( I need someone to write up a really good petition letter that gets sent to 16 different emails each time someone signs the petition! PM me it and post in here!)

IT WORKED WITH THE BOOTLOADER!
You guys obviously where not here for that! got a response from asus within 48 hours
In some way I don't think it was mostly their falt but ours since we were already rushing them. They did delay the sales because of the quality but demand was to big on our side. People wanted the device knowing it had problems and now most of them are fighting that they didn't pay much attention to the tablet. Even though we wanted it the way it was....... But every body has their views.

Shut up some of us are out of our return window! and are you not unhappy that they will be releasing versions with fixed GPS and other stuff!
The bootloader thing was completely different, this is way too far, and its worded like a spoiled teenage rant.
What really annoys me is that I see you "OP" genuinely trying to help bring these problems to light and get Asus to do the right thing and fix this debacle of a product. But instead I see trolls trollin your thread. Lame.
I applaud you for your outcry. This really needs Asus's FULL attention. Not just Gary and a few other employees. I have a feeling Asus is going to proceed with the release of the TF700t and leave the TF201 in the dust. If I was Asus I would carefully take a look at what went wrong with the TF201 and figure out how to fix it. Instead of releasing a new product. If these problems aren't fixed by Tuesday I am returning my Prime and dock and going with an iPad 3 or maybe a TF700t. Most likely an iPad 3. I really hope Asus comes through in the next 72 hours.
Try not to get upset with fellow TF201 owners. I guarantee their tone will change once the TF700t arrives with no problems. We are all on the same team.

No problem. I am here to help.
I know that I have only been a member of this thread for a short while. But I have enjoyed/found most people here to be informitive and entertaining.
Not only is Asus causing me to second guess my 5th TF201 & dock purchase by way of a full refund return, they are alienating me from participating in this wonderful forum full of members with similar interests. After my 5th Prime I'm gone from XDA/Asus.
I really hope it doesn't come down to this.
Ok guys, i feel ya. It sucks getting a faulty product especially over and over. No argument there.
But these issues are only present in a small percentage of Primes. And most of them only apply to artificial situations. For instance wifi: I have a a ~16 Mbps connection. What if my wifi drops to 8 Mbps for some seconds while watching youtube? I wont even notice. So for 95% of Prime users those wifi "issues" dont exist. Me included even though i get pretty steady results.
Minor screen bleed is present on almost all IPS panels even your precious ipads (you should get one, they are perfect devices, will never have problems and last 100 years - sry irony took over ). And again, the only place you notice screen bleed is on startup screen or if your in complete darkness looking at a black page and turning IPS+ on.
So the amount of people that have gone through several primes is very very small. Even here on XDA most people dont experience these issues in a way that the device becomes less fun or even unusable.
By logic the amount of people that will sign this petition and send some spam mail will never be enough to actually achieve something. Sorry man
The bootloader thing was something completely different. Companies locking up bootloaders is something that affects every freakin Android user. So i'm pretty sure there were many people that didnt even plan on buying a prime signing that petition. The same way i have signed the HTC petition and will sign every single one about locking bootloaders of Android devices. Plus, i'm almost certain ASUS already planned it when the petition started.
Again it sucks buying and waiting for such a product and then having a faulty device. Happened to everyone once... But all you can do is, return it and hope for getting a working replacement. Buying another product, or waiting for the next Transformer model from ASUS.
And btw when i read TF700T will have no issues, all i can say is lol. Its like saying the world will end in 2012. Wait... Maybe the two things are linked in some higher plan we dont understand yet!!!??? I think i'm on to something here...

I agree. Most of the TF201 returns I heard about from customer service at my local Bestbuy were transactions that resulted in a full refund not exchange. Most people would return and move on to iPad 3, TF700t etc......
Do you really believe that after this mess of a release Asus is gonna release another defective product? I don't think so. I'm sure Asus's legal department/engineering is working together to provide a "Asus Inspiring Innovation Persistent Perfection" product with the release of the TF700t.
While I'm not quite as zealous as the OP, I do feel that ASUS needs to address the issues listed above. They undoubtedly knew there were pretty severe engineering issues with the prime before release if not, then quite soon thereafter. The weak wifi and nonexistent GPS are unquestionable. The other QA problems are more or less expected

I agree. I understand the position that the people who wish to express their dissatisfaction with a product, or to compare it to another, would find this the appropriate forum for such discourse.
But seriously, stroll around some other halo device forums (albeit I concede the title of "halo product" is almost ironic with the Prime given the imminent TF701) and see if they're littered with crappy threads. For the most part? No, they're not. They're where people have discussions about their product that are beneficial for the community to read.

I completely agree. I posted something similar in the "Why I left my Prime " thread. I could care less why people leave their Prime or why they feel that the iPad is better. One comparison thread here and there is fine but people are starting this conversation in threads off topic or creating multiple thread topics. Enough already. If I wanted to know about the iPad, I'd go elsewhere or read reviews. I don't buy for an instant that the "former Prime" owners are doing this out of the kindness of their hearts to "inform" us. Again, I could care less and this is NOT why I come to a place like this. I come for community and for device specific advice and device specific software. Period. Seriously, don't these "former Prime " owners have something better to do? Apparently not. The iPad must not be that exciting and stellar of a device if they find the need to expend energy and time comparing it to another device which they recently left.

Well, some of the poster might just be trolls, trying to get a rise out of a situaion
Other might be real people with real grievance.
And the third group, would be paid professional "troll" by competator to slant or share false information to get more sale for their product.
As the TF prime is the flagship for the Nvidia Tegra 3 for the Android platform it's the #1 target for competitor.

I think these TP forums are worst that I have ever seen here. Even the SGS2 forums didnt have this much crap talk about SGS2 vs. iPhone 4S.
I have just ordered my TP and was going to check the forums for something interesting to read. First page of this general section is about iPad or iOS. Dont they have their own forum to discuss about things or what the **** is this?
yeah not sure wtf is going on, I came from a xoom and those forums on here were filled with quality useful post. Not *****ing and whining from the same 15-20 people filling this whole forum up with bs. Plus you got people just coming in to troll because they don't get laid in the the real world.
To answer the OPs question, it's because the people who had real issues and posted about them offended the fanbois in here. So the fanbois started a whole bunch of retaliatory posts of why the Prime is so good and how the people with technical problems were just a bunch of whiners.
So now it's come back full circle to where the people who had problems with their Primes make posts and threads mocking the fanbois.
Solution? Ignore all the lame posts and let them sink down the drain into oblivion.

This should tell you something
I feel bad for people that ASUS has mislead, truthfully. I loved my prime, I loved the design, the idea of everything about it. Then I got it, played with it, tested it and was extremely disappointed. The quality lacks, enough said.
The reason there is so much negativity is because the Prime, as a product, is lacking for something that if done right, could have been a game changer. The game changer is what everyone expected, is what ASUS advertised, and is what did not deliver. I had to sell mine, almost out of principle. I was very upset in doing so, it could've been so much more.

Complaints about Asus and their Transformer Prime

Well I was told to go elsewhere to complain about Asus and the problems I am having with the $680 64Gb prime I bought. So since Diamondback is getting tired of closing threads and deleting posts, I decided on starting a thread were people who need or want to vent can come and vent. And to be fair if you have good things to say about Asus or your Prime please share it here.
As I have tried to say before I like my Prime but am getting tired of the problems that have not been fixed or pop up after an update is released..
I think the gps dongle, while a nice gesture was a misstep for Asus. I would have just taken that on the chin. The hardware/software problems that have not been resolved are far worse. I don't give a s- about gps. Again, nice move on their part, but the dongle does me zero good if the damn thing crashes and freezes. I'll take the wifi issues, it's not that bad. Just give me a functional f'n unit that doesn't run slower than my ibm 286. \rant
There is a class action suit going on. I was actually contacted today by one of the lawyers doing it. You can email [email protected] and tell him you want to be apart of it.
I miss the complaint thread. At least there was the hope that Asus would actually read their own thread, which ended up not being the case.

its the same lawsuit but its not going anywhere really. The case against Asus isnt strong. Its likely to get thrown out before it even really begins. Hence the reason no official filing has even been done yet. This is just something someone "Wants" to bring against asus. Nothing thats actually happening or going on yet.

Asus took the easy way out by sending us a 4 dollar piece of plastic and wire, instead of working on the actual issues.

its the same lawsuit but its not going anywhere really. The case against Asus isnt strong. Its likely to get thrown out before it even really begins. Hence the reason no official filing has even been done yet. This is just something someone "Wants" to bring against asus. Nothing thats actually happening or going on yet.

Class action suits are awesome for all lawyers involved and the original filer. No one added to the class gets anything useful.

That's really your personal opinion on the matter. How it unfolds.. I guess we'll have to just wait and see (we won't find out until few yrs later anyways). Btw, what do you mean by no "official" filing?
http://www.courthousenews.com/2012/02/13/ColinvASUS.pdf
What else do you need?? What's more official?
You sir are mistaken.

This is not correct, the papers were filed over two months ago, the case is strong and will move forward in good time. ASuS as already been to two informal hearing at the various law firms involved when they were in CA. And as stated in previous post, you can let the team know that you'd like to be a part if they need anymore actual users of this product to appear in court. I've been watching mr. demandarin for quite some time and I'm sorry to say, but I feel he is either privileged by ASUS or just a tireless fan boy. Nothing wrong with enjoying a product and company that as serviced you to your satisfaction, but most of us that have kept quite for some time have followed long and tedious arguments that involved this individual. I give credit where credit is due but do not idolize any company, person, device or anything else so I can be a little more unbiased when assessing a situation. If you are unhappy with a product, this is the place to seek help, and if you can get a actual rep to listen, good for you! If you can't, then it's time to take legal action and get louder so that others are protected from having the same treatment as you. So by all means, follow the previous posters advice, seek out legal action. It will be funny to see how many fans will have their hand's out for the settlement money when it is awarded. Mark my words.
Thanks
I am glad to see that this tread is getting used. I also want to thank all who posted here as I have learned more about what is going on and what people are looking for. I have learned that I am not the only one who wants a stable working Prime over a GPS dongle.
I also would like to know if anyone has tried to use a Huawei E369 Datacard with their Prime. I have read that the Huawei 17xx was working but would like to buy the newest one out that will work so it will last at least 5 years before it becomes outdated.
I've noticed as of late that asus has stfu about everything. I realize that Gary was sick, but "official posts" are becoming fewer and farther between. They are going into defense mode. They know they are sol to fix the issues without having to put out a full recall which is a huge embarrassment and going to cost them an arm and a leg, plus street cred. It's getting to end game folks. They better be brewing a software miracle, or an overall solution. I think a lawsuit has legs with the horrible performance, Dongle be damned.
I would think a class action lawsuit has a foothold. There is absolutely no way that Asus did not know about the wifi and GPS issues when they launched. They got caught up in the "iPad killer" hype and wanted to get them out by Christmas. The lack of advertising by Asus and the retail establishment is icing on the cake.
Funny thing is that I picked up a Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 for my birthday last week and it is snappier than my Prime (especially when browsing and installing from the Play store)
The lack of updates is disconcerting as well. Perhaps there are no further firmware/software fixes for this device.
It is simply a small blip on the Android Tablet radar that will go down in history as a complete and utter failure.

There has been a ton of discussion about this just today, problem is it keeps getting shut down, either by reported posts, or, over zealous mods, either way, the ends the same
The mysterious , unreleased firmware should be telling everybody something, the og transformer has had the update to .24 for quite sometime, the prime testers have had it for at least 2 weeks or more, one in particular gave today as a release date, even though some of those testers are reporting good results, I'm not buying it. If it was ready for prime time it would have dropped. It seems like I have new issues pop up every day, or the same issues manifesting in different ways
I have multiple issues with prime, i am going to ask Asus for a refund, probably more than ask, and go with something else, other tegra 3 tablets available, and the A700 and thrive are getting rave reviews, They certainly can't be worse than the Prime, and i doubt they will go backwards with no explanation like the prime.Asus is going to lose my business for sure
I have 2 different PM's to both Asus_usa and Gary key, for 2 and a half days now, so far no response yet, for dedicated forum support, thats unacceptable.

opps... didnt see someone posted the link to the filing. lol But If anything comes from it remains to be seen..
All I want is the browser sped up and I would be perfectly happy. Gary mentioned that there would be an upgrade to browsing in the new firmware but after this much time it leads you to think that it must be a hardware issue. Although Asus has always been outed by other sources before they give out any real information.
I bought a top of the line Android Tablet and I swear my girlfriends Kindle browses the internet faster.
It is also odd to see that new post the other day about the Asus Nexus Tablet. It is hard to believe that they would be able to meet Demand or Expectations after all of the Prime problems.
Yea I am getting tired closing all your threads....
What's so hard about posting in existing threads?
I understand that you want answers, I want them too, but making new threads each day complaning about the issues won't get you any answers...
Gary doesn't answer in threads, so maybe the situation will change with the new guy - Asus_USA - but until then please use the existing threads.

The prime is dead

Just one year after, the Prime development is dead. Two roms have been updated a month ago and much appreciated work on them. But that's about it. What was once the tablet of the future, Asus made it a flop, A $500 flop at that. How poor, I'll never buy another Asus tablet or PC again. I had mine since day one and have no problems with. I wish everyone could say that.
Thank you for your contribution. We definitely needed another one of these threads.
Long live the Prime!
Yes, as said before, this is the problem with people who jump on these forums and fill it with non-sense, gripe and make an atmosphere of uncertainty and unthankfulness.. Yes, thanks for the positive outlook indeed.

This is not true. lilstevie and tux_mind are VERY close to perfecting an Ubuntu dual boot. Think about it, Volume Up to boot Android; Volume Down to boot Ubuntu. That would be the coolest thing in the history of things. This is what I have been waiting for since 2008. Sooo... STFU.
Prime is dead
Mine truly is----at ASUS RMA facility for the third time since purchase
first 2 times wif-bluetooth issue in shop for 1.5 months
this time green camera
Truly a 500$ 650 if you count the dock peice of c***
There are very few primes around in my country so i don't care if its dead, i have a special device and its working perfectly.
But i think my next tablet (i hope the prime works for a long time) will be one with a digitizer for pens. Like the galaxy note 10.1. In my situation i prefer that over a keyboard.
Long live the prime.
I've had mine since day one. Never had reason to complain about it at all. Two friends have bought them after seeing mine. Still use it every day. I wish I had two.

I really like mine it replaced my laptop ... i also like the build quality. Samsung plastics are not my kind of thing. Drawbacks are wifi performance and the system to connect tablet and keyboard could use some rethinking.

I think that the Development is very slow mostly because around a 50% of users have their Bootloader locked, so lots of people couldn't use other roms, kernels or mods (and of course if a user wants to start a develop and has it's Prime locked, simply he can't).
I bought the tf201 a month ago because I didn't know anything about Bootloader, I thought that I could flash a kernel for OC or something similar. I try to unlock and I couldn't, and now I'm happy with it, because my tf201 died a week ago. When it returns from the RMA, I'll try to sell it. That's all, and this is the last ASUS tablet I'll buy.

I find it interesting as to how much people are influenced by the opinions and experiences of others. In one breath you say you'll never buy another Asus tablet again and in the next you say you've had your Prime for over a year and have had no problems with it.

Let me help you out a little, jordache. I'm quite happy with my Prime. I've not had problems with it. I have several Wireless APs at my home, so it's saturated with signal. As a result, I've not had problems with the wifi. I've chosen not to Root or Unlock my Prime, so I've not had the headaches there that others have had. As the features go (HDMI, Micro-SD, SD, USB, additional battery in keyboard dock), the Prime is top notch. I'd still take it over an iPad any day of the week.
Having said all of that, Asus's post-sale hardware support is terrible. So terrible that I probably won't buy another Asus product. I managed to lose a couple of rubber feet on the dock. When I inquired about getting some replacement feet, Asus wanted me to do an RMA on the dock. I'm not impressed.

The original post in this thread is the equivalent to someone standing up in the middle of a conference on economics and yelling "I LIKE BANANAS".
Sure, they have every right to like bananas, but it isn't helpful, it's attention-seeking and is essentially pointless.
Go eat bananas if you like them. No one cares.

That is correct because my bluetooth sucks, my wireless sucks and should be much better than it is. No other issues besides that. I was just stating a fact that there is not much development for the tablet anymore. That's all I was saying, take it the way you wish but we are all allowed opinions here. thank you
The truth of the matter IMO is that people have come to expect too much. It's the "where's my update" syndrome where people want something new ever other week. Things evolve so fast that yes, a one year old device is practically ancient history. And Asus supported this device for much longer and through many more updates than most other manufacturers do. Take my Motorola Droid 3....please! Seriously my Droid 3 was abandoned by Motorola almost as soon as it was released. My original Droid Came with Android 2.0 then it got 2.1 and 2.2 from Motorola and then 2.3.7 via Cyanogen Mod 7.2 but once on 2.x, always on 2.x. On the other hand on the Prime we went from 3.x to 4.0 to 4.1 and will probably see 4.2 which is really not bad at all. It should also be capable of running future versions of custom ROMs....if the developers keep working on it. But really we have to expect that they will eventually move on too. But these days a year is almost an eternity for a mobile device.

Yes and another no brain response. I was just stating a fact.. don't like tough sh*t. I love my Prime, if I didn't I would have sold it long ago for something better. I was just stating that development has slowed down to a halt.. nothing to do with bananas !. Gezzzz

I don't see it so much as slowing down, more like we have got to the limits of what we can achieve with what we have.
When 4.2 arrives I'm sure you will see some more dev work going on and also there is cyanogenmod which updates nightly if you really want to update regularly.
There is only so much you can do based on the stock rom.

So lets get this straight, you "love" your Prime but you will not be buying another Asus product again. Can you please explain?
