[Q] Power LED indicator? - Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime

I've seen LED power indicator mentioned in a few reviews, but couldn't find it on photos. And I don't have Prime yet, only original TF.
So, is there really a power indicator on the power button on the tablet itself?
Also, if it IS there, I have a suggestion. There's an app Missed Message Flasher on market, which flashes LED or hardware button highlight on my phone (which don't have LED) when you got a new notification. Why don't someone make similar app for TF Prime? So with any new notifications it would flash even if screen is off.
I've found myself pressing power button just to check if I got a new messages in IM or a new email quite a lot during everyday use. Would be very useful just to look on the tablet and see if anything require my attention (new notifications) by flashing LED. Hope it's not too dim for that purpose, and power consumption should be miniscule. Yeah I know it's playing a sound when I got something new, but this isn't so convenient and I could be absent at the time when new message appears. Flashing or pulsating LED would be quiet and nice.
Maybe not as app, but as a part of custom ROM - I suspect this functionality would require root.

Because it's in such a weird place you would never check to see the color of the light

edit: Ninja'd again lol
Its so small and located in such a way you would have to be looking directly at, its probably not worth it.

Well, in very bright conditions - yes... But in not-so-bright-usual-geek-dungeon even blinking reflection on the table or wall is enough. Again, I don't (yet) have one to test the brightness myself, so this is only a speculation

Personally, if I am in the same room as the TP, its in my hands anyway lol.

Not worth it

As others have said, the light is too small, and in a place that the odds of having it in your line of sight would be minimal. You would only have a 25% chance that the top edge of the unit would be in line of sight. Good idea, really, but it plain wouldn't work well enough to be worth it.
BTW, it IS on the power button itself, which leads ME to a question. How is everyone's power button? Mine is stiff as a day old dead dog, and I find myself squashing, pushing, pushing again to get the unit out of sleep mode. My OG Transformers (all 3 of them, have a nice springy detent of perhaps 1/32" - 1/64" (damn America for never adapting the Metric System! I don't know my milimeters from my water meter) The new button is just a mush,, with no noticeable travel)

Ive seen something that ll make a little envelope bounce around on your screen,
though im not sure how battery intense this is (then again this thing has a mamoth batterylife so I wouldnt care!)

This is one reason I still sport my Nexus One which is my main messaging device. I love the RGB glowing trackball which my co-workers all call the glowing eye of mordor.
Not sure why this feature is so overlooked. I guess as more feature phone users upgrade they don't know what they are missing.

Okay then Well, at least it's clear that it _does_ have LED power indicator. Too bad that new button is stiff also. Not a deal-breaker, ofc, but I'd be pressing it quite a lot during use.

However, once you get a keyboard dock it may be more visible when in the closed position

^^ this. It is tiny and only in the dark could you see it and only if the tablet has it's edge turned towards you. In reality, it is 100% worthless and I am surprised it is even there.

LED notification light

Is it just me or does the led notification light seem very low? If the phone is laying down flat it's very hard to see if your not lookin at it directly is anyone else having this issue as well?

I consider it a feature..I can accidentally set my phone face up at night without a notification lighting up the whole room and waking me up. It's all in how you look at it I guess!

I agree that it's not very noticeable and I like being able to see it. One of the smaller issues I have to complain about right now though.
i agree, does not light up the whole room. My old EVO used to do that. uggg
I want to know when the light is going to work at least how it says in the manual
Okay thought it was only me. Yeah other than that I love this phone especially how fast it charges!
Yeah I thought the same thing when I first got my photon, I don't mind it though, and your right it does charge super fast,

Well, until you mentioned it.................Yes, its low unless I'm actually looking at the phone (and this likely saves battery?) BUT, as stated, I dont want my bedroom glowing when I'm sleeping either. Not like I would get up and actually check it anyway!

Are you kidding me? It's 24 hours old.

The panel will just sporadically begin to look very oversaturated and look like this:

I got nothing. Any thoughts of anything I can do before I go return it?

Not sure what your pointing out with that image, but if your talking about the ghosting .. where the icons are still slightly visable after moving to a flat background colour then its pretty normal...
Image persistence like that after less that five minutes is not normal.
Power saving mode I'm guessing? And you need a better camera -.-"
Make a copy of your home screen by long pressing the previous app button in the task bar and post that.

Balanced; when it does it, I do a cold boot and it's still there. And the camera? For a phone it's way up there.

Its normal on the transformer prime and the transformer ...
You wont even see it when using it normally.
If its bugging you, take it back, but i can assure you its pretty normal as far as i'm concerned.

I dunno, my Transformer never did anything like this.
I think the TFP saw what phone you were using and decided it didn't like you anymore. On a serious note that amount of screen burn isn't normal as mine doesn't do it at all. I know that i had two bright spots on my tab as if an led back light was too close to the screen and I thought I could live with it. 2 months later I sent it in last week for RMA I just couldn't deal with it. Since you just got it I would suggest an exchange at place of purchase before going to the RMA department which is a big PITA as you will see from some other threads.
Oh this certainly exists. If you don't see it, you need your eyes checked. I just ignore it, doesn't effect my experience.
I've only had an issue like this sometimes, but the stuff from the previous screen would go away in a few seconds. I'm not sure why yours is there for 5 minutes
Thanks for your input guys, took it back this morning. Walked out with an Acer A200 which is... tolerable I guess... and cheap.
all IPS panels ghost..

Got my Prime, but its not perfect

Hello again, I got the Prime today but the screen has a bow at the top in the middle. It is not flush with the rest of the tablet. The other problem is it doesn't seem to be charging so I am a bit confused about that. Any thoughts?
Thanks,
First thought is you should maybe think about swapping it out. It shouldn't bow in the middle at all. Mine is flat as are all the ones I've played with in stores.. Second thought is it should also be charging lol .. what's your plan for when the battery dies???
Sounds like a dud to me. I'd swap it if I were you maybe
Sent from my SGH-I777 using Tapatalk 2
Ok, seems to be charging now but the bow seems a worry.
Yeah.. I wouldn't feel comfortable with a bow in the middle
Sent from my SGH-I777 using Tapatalk 2
Exchange it where you bought it from.
Its going back tomorrow. There is nothing wrong with the tablet other than GPS. Wi Fi is great. Seems like its just a loose clip or something.
Swap it out. There shouldn't be any bow in it. Tablet should be flat. Don't wait and swap it out immediately.
lol how is this even a question? we all know Asus QC is crap, any imperfections swap it out ASAP!
Hey... mine didn't come with a bow?!?
Wonder if it's too late to exchange it for one with a bow on top.
Got my second one and from what I have seen it has no light bleed and the frame is all good. I haven't really tuned it on I only saw the screen when it was showing me it needed charging.
Well the second one is great,b but with bith of mine I occasionally get a faint clicking noise whenever I hit the back, home or multitasking button and when I pick up an app on the home screens. Anyone else get this?

a faint clicking noise when hitting an onscreen software button? if so, cut off the sound for onscreen touches and such. doesn't really make sense. just sounds like you have it to make sounds when you press something on the screen. this can be cut off in the settings.
Ok, thanks for that. The last thing seems to be the battery. I read the instructions for once and it said to charge it all up. So i charged it till it was green and then powered it up for the first time. So as the instructions say i need to break the battery in. At the moment i am getting about 5-6 hours. The pad is on balanced with auto brightness. Does this seem normal for new battery. I would hope to end up with 9-10 or are my expeditions too high?
I will do a new topic cos its a new question

Capacitive LED's....?

My question....
Are the LED's under the capacitive buttons controlled by individual drivers or is it one driver for all 4 LED's. Also is the driver(s) replaced when I flash a new ROM and Kernel?
My reason.....
I got a replacement Rezound, and the phone is flawless other than 1 LED. All the buttons are nice, bright, and red, but the home button is barely lit up. Very dim. When I use the dim LED script the home button basically turns off.
I don't wanna deal with getting another that may have real problem, when this is just more of an annoyance. My Dad is the boss at a factory that builds computer electronics for all kind of crazy stuff, and said he could have someone replace them properly. I've ordered red 0603 SMD LED's to replace them all. My only concern is he mentioned it could be a bad driver for that LED, and make all the replacing pointless. So if they are all controlled by a single driver it would be a bad LED.
Or do I just not know what the hell I'm talking about?
EDIT: This should be in Q&A. Mods please move.
Honestly, I don't know but I suspect it is just an individual LED. Not on a computer right now but there is a thread on this forum with high res pics showing the LED color mod that might help make the process easier.

I did see that thread. That's where I got the red LED idea, but his problem was pink buttons not really a possible burn out, or other issue. I could deal with them being pink if they lit properly.
probably a mis-aligned attachment on the pcb, or a bad led altogether.. if you want to take it apart you can probably replace the individual led, but you'll need some soldering expertise.
That's also what he thought bad connection. They have plenty of experience at his work, and all the right equipment. So I'm gonna send it there. I wanted to make sure there wasn't an individual driver for just that led before I wasted his employee or companies time.
Yes, sound like bad hardware for sure...good luck!

Always on notifcation?

Can anyone show me an example of how text notifications and others will work with always on when you receive it, I am used to having a notification light and I want to make sure this isn't a deal breaker for me.
if you use always on display no notification led appared. icons of the notification appears in the top of clock
In terms of "alerting" you to the phone, definitely not as good as led lights, because from distance it looks the same whether you have a notification or not, and nothing really pops out at you when you get new notification. But I still prefer it because you can see all the notifications you have by simply looking at the screen without turning it on or pressing anything
Will AoD cause issues with screen burn in? Does it stay in the same place or does it move around? And if it moves around, does it move to random locations or does it stay in the same exact locations?

Stays in same spot - but of course notification icons and clock constantly changing it slightly. I dont think its an issue due to how dim it is. There is a setting to make it bright, but it warns of battery drain. I have no need to make it bright though.

Are you sure? I've definitely seen mine in at least a couple of different spots (it seems to change after a certain amount of time rather than number of locks)

LOL. No I'm not. Since you said this, I just checked again and it seems it may have slide down the screen ever so slightly. I also just tried to turn it off and back on a few times to mark where it was and it hasnt changed. So, I will keep an eye on it and see if I can tell if there's movement. Thanks.

Lol yea to be honest when I first saw it in a different spot it didn't even occur to me that it might be a thing to prevent burn ins. I'd even admit to having shaken the phone a couple times to move it back once I couldn't find any settings for the clock location -_-...one of the stupider things I've done in 2017

s8+ it moves slightly. random spots I think. same with the home button, that moves too. all ever so slightly. I think they did this to stop burns.
I hope the v30 isn't as obvious like the v20's burn, I had burn from like day 1.....
