Tablet Talk App - Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime

So since I've been using tablets since the xoom came out I always wanted to be able to send texts through my tablet but have them send with my phone's number. At first there was syncSMS, which was pretty good but required drop box to sync up messages. Then I started using Text tab which would pair the devices with BT. The app was ok, the interface wasnt that great but it did the job. I just bought Tablet Talk from the market and I have to say I LOVE this app, not only does it give you the option to connect via BT or Wifi(must be on same wifi network) but the interface is much better than text tab. Plus you can control your mobile phone. Meaning, if you want to call someone it has a dialer and when you dial from your tab it will place the call on your handset, you can even activate speakerphone on your mobile phone. Granted you need to have your phone close for the calling stuff but I think it's still pretty neat. And when you get a call it displays the caller id number on your tab and also rings on your tab as well as your phone, you can also answer it from your tab (but activates the phone) so no more having to pull the phone out of your pocket to see who's calling.
I have been using it over wifi since last night and havent even seen it eat much battery at all and I left it running all night. Anyway, I would HIGHLY recommend this app... It's the best Tab/Phone SMS app I've seen so far

Yup I also use this app and must say that for me so far its been great. It doesn't allow MMS yet, but I emailed the development team and they said they are planning on implementing it as soon as it's stable. Great App (Also if connected to your phone via Bluetooth, you can make phone and receive phone calls with your Prime)

Hmm I can make calls, and receive them on my prime, but when I answer the call it activates my phone, the audio doesnt get routed through the tab. Is there a way to do it? I did try connecting via blue tooth and had the same issue, I could make calls and receive them from the tab but the audio gets routed through the phone, not the tab

Thanks for sharing! Hard!

One of the best apps for the prime...
I usually don't take time to say how good an app is but this one is cake.
I throw on BT on phone and tab all day and use my tab as my texting machine.

I did notice, when I place a call from the tab and am connected via BT There is a BT icon, I'm guessing that should route the audio to the tab, but for some reason it's not working for me. Maybe because of the rom I'm on my GS2 (AOKP)

This is a great app. Very handy to have.

if someone could look into this and verify the BT to phone works and receives/answers calls routed through prime i will buy. i've been looking for this and MMS.
UPDATE: Just bought it due to the developer's 48 hour refund policy and Handcent support. Will look for the answer on answering the phone through the tablet. Tab certainly shows incoming caller id.

Sorry guys it is not possible. Works perfect with my BT headset though.
Referenced under Help/Phone/Caller ID...
NOTE: The new phone calling features are intended for use with a headset connected to your phone. You can also enable your phone's speakerphone from the tablet during a call. Due to limitations of Android, the tablet's speaker and mic cannot be used for active calls on your phone.

Yup, shouldn't be possible at the moment as quoted. It would be quite amazing to hold up your tab and just chat. I think this is the best couple dollars I've ever spent on an app.

I just purchased it last night. I'm having issues unfortunately. My tablet and phone is not showing any incoming text only sent. My stock messaging shows the whole conversation. I've read through FAQ and followed all instructions... Still no go.
My Prime is stock. 21 rooted locked My phone is HTC EVO 4G running latest Miui.us (miui-2. 5.4) Android ver. 4.0.4
Anyone having the same issues? I'm thinking it could be due to the custom rom on my phone not sure though.
Edit: Solved! Changed roms from Miui.us to Decks_Reloaded Android 2.3.5 on my old skool EVO 4G. Now works as advertised. I guess Miui doesn't play nice with the whole messaging thing or maybe the ICS4.0.4 that was cooked in.

I've been using google voice app on my prime its synched with my Evo 4g and my sprint # but all my texts from phone synch to the prime and texts from my prime all show as my regular sprint # unfortunately no calls or mms but a very convenient app nonetheless .... i really just liked the fact that I could text from either phone or tab with same#

Same here. I use google voice with sprint as well. Needs wifi connection of course. Works great for texting. Funny thing is that the prime receives texts faster than on my phone.

Yup sure do just a few seconds sooner but they do hit the prime 1st i think the only place I'm not around wifi is in the car but if I needed I'd hit the hot spot on my EVO thanks to the awesome devs here

Have you ever tried using GrooVe IP this lets you call using your Google voice number you can fail and receive calls. Google voice app for SMS but nothing for mms that I've found.

Yeah, even when I was on sprint I didnt like using GV for my texts.. I use it now for my VM but never cared for it as a texting app. And it's kinda funny, because with this app my tab will get the notification first there is a message a split second before my phone notifies me

I will second the Google Voice with Groove IP option.
It is funny at work to get a text and have my computer, tablet, and phone all make a noise at nearly the same time. The tablet is always the fastest though.

I agree, this app with GVoice allows me to oftentimes keep my phone in my pocket at all times. I get questions from people in how I can type so fast, and I laugh while typing away on my keyboard dock. This device really is nice for productivity and a great netbook alternative with incredible battery life.

Tango update in market

Update is now in the market fyi.
have you tested this? does it work?
The Tango update fixes the crashing issues. You can video chat now!
It works. If you read the changed in this version it added support for atrix zoom and streak.
Sent from my Motorola Atrix using tapatalk
that means somehow the developer was able to manage the atrix's quirks regarding voip and microphone use, so other apps like skype might do it too. I wonder who will cave first, skype or motorola?

Ohh yeah, it works very good. first app i m able to use both on iphone and android (atrix) without any problems
Have been waiting for this thanks for the info.
anyone have audio issues? I can hear the other person, but he can't hear me...
I tested it out with an iPhone 4 after the update and it does work.
i was unable to call out to an Evo but was able to recieve the Evo's call.. i was never able to see their picture or them see mine.. then it was disconnected due to poor reception but we both had full bars and was 1ft away
Thanks 4 alerting us that Tango us ready for the Atrix, I been wanting this since Feb. 22.
I've been able to chat with the wife on her iPhone using wifi and or 3g and whatever we get on the Atrix lol

Friend with iphone 4 called me and I was able to talk to him over 3G, though there was an occasional pause due to the slow network. After about 10 minutes it froze up and lost its connection, but was still better than nothing. I'll be using this feature quite often to speak to my best friend who lives 1,500 miles away,
I just tried to use Tango but when I try to call someone it says "initializing" then "calling" but it never calls or anything...
A-A-A-Atrix!
Tango works fine for me. Used it today with an iPhone user, both of us were on WiFi.
Just tried tango with my friend on her iPhone4. The video quality was OK but the voice was horrendous. We both had to mute our speakers as we couldn't even make out a word the other person was saying. There was so much static and distortion that we sounded like aliens submerged underwater. I have the Bell Atrix. Is anyone else experiencing this?
i used it to speak to people. it worked. However it doesnt actually make a RINGING sound. it just stays silent. Not perfect. Also Tango shows you asll contacts in your contacts that have Tango (dont know how they did this). you cant yet have a favorites list, like skype.
Has anyone else had the issue with the mic not working? I am able to view my friend's video feed and hear them and they can see me, but not hear me whatsoever. Any ideas? Is the mic just not activating when the app launches?
Also I can only receive calls but not make them? Any ideas?
Thanks..

gps and bluetooth on galaxy s2

I'm looking to swap out my new iPhone 4s for a galaxy s2 but I was wondering how the gps and Bluetooth is. Are there any issues with the gps? Are there any limitations with the Bluetooth (I.e. unable to pair wiimote/ps3 controller)?
I came from a Samsung Captivate so it would be nice to know before committing to it.
Thanks.

Wait you have an unrooted stock SGSII and are able to pair with a PS3 Controller? I've been told that's impossible unless you are running CM7. Do tell your secret.
I'm interested on how it was done as well. To be honest I just wanted to make sure the Bluetooth has good support for headsets, hands free setups, keyboards, and mice.
Good to know that the galaxy s2 isn't plagued with the gps issues from my captivate.
Can't speak to the controllers, but GPS is night and day batter than captivate. I use a stereo Bluetooth headset for hours on end every day, and never have issues. The Thrill had issues, that is a big part of the reason I got the SGS II.

Rooted and running CM7 then I assume?
Bluetooth is fantastic. It connects to everything (I use) pretty much flawlessly. It's the only phone I've ever used that streams song and artist data via A2DP. Vlingo has a listen over Bluetooth mode that activates when you say "Hi Galaxy" and allows you to call, send texts & e-mails, and take notes. Of course there's a big YMMV because Bluetooth is dependent on two devices to work properly and people have had issues with certain in-car systems on the international SGS2 forum. But there's less Bluetooth *****ing about the SGS2 than any other device whose forums I follow.

Logitech bluetooth keyboard

this thing has so many problems that it's completely unusable! It times out its connection to my tablet after a few seconds. when I wake it back up it force closes whatever app I happen to be in. half the time it wont even wake up at all. It randomly repeats a typed letter, ad nauseum, during the brief intervals of "functionality."
I'm starting to get very skeptical about android. This is as bad as gtalk failing to send messages, which is another widespread fatal flaw that has gone completely unaddressed by Google.
The bluetooth implementation in android is BROKEN. SHATTERED. Extremely disappointing.
I've done a million searches seeking solutions to this problem and the internet is stone dumb on this issue. I want a workaround and I want it yesterday.
I'm using a Transformer tablet, but the same crappy issues are being had by my Xoom as well.
Unacceptable. Period.

I'm sorry to hear that, I've used bluetooth mice, keyboards and stereo headsets from the TF101 (not sure about other androids) and they work a treat! They pair like a dream and allow you to rename them (which is great as my headsets name is KC302).
If you want a device with a poor bluetooth implementation I'd look at iOS. Does logitech assert Android as an OS it supports? Have you even spoken to them or are you just ranting? Bluetooth is a pretty solid standard these days, usually its when devices try to implement stuff beyond the standard that things get buggy.
Have you tried other roms? Kernels? (using the same devices)
I have in fact spoken to logitech and they want to send me a replacement (which wont help anyone.) The device has android printed on it's backside so it should work without a hint of trouble. Not.
I have rooted a few devices in my time, but not the transformer. Is it easy yet?

Or.. It might help? I agree though, doesn't sound all that promising.
I believe that depending on your firmware, its easier than turning it on.
The Razorclaw method requires installing an app from a link, then clicking one button. Make sure you have a compatible system first, but then it takes about 38.4 seconds from downloading to being rooted.

Just received C3 serial Prime

Just received a new Prime today, serial is C3, I have not had time to do any extensive testing but I am pissed off to find dead pixels and white pixels so I guess ill be returning the unit until I get one with no damn spot on it, the lightbleeding the GPS doesnt bother me but dammit the dots are irritating!
I do not know if anyone else has a C3 model yet so before I return it in a few days please feel free to ask me any questions to compare it with the other models.
I had a C1 before.
Cheers!

+1 on wifi check.
Depending on what type of internet connection you have but still, does it sseem to be better than your previous Prime ?
can you check wifi with streaming bluetooth?
I did not know there were different models. I got mine few days ago and it's C3.
I see that most people complain about wifi - it works fine for me, it has better range than my Galaxy S.
It has newest firmware in - dated 20-Feb I think. It rebooted itself twice for no reason, but apart from that everything works smoothly.

I'm happy with my prime purely for the fact that i got sick and tired of waiting for a decently powered android tablet, and the prime fits the bill in practically all areas apart from the for mentioned problems already discussed i.e. gps, wifi, wifi + bluetooth etc etc.........
usb to ethernet
-This was always a preference for me as i don't like leaving on my wifi for extended periods of time, just gotta wait till someone figures out how to hook the adapter to the tablet directly.
Saying that i like the fact that when i need wifi, i can log onto my router using the prime and turn it on and then remove the tablet from the dock, then, when im finished with the wifi, i turn it off, dock the tablet, and let it connect over ethernet automatically.....very nice
GPS
Waiting for someone to figure out how to allow apps to use my phones gps over bluetooth
or better still, gps over usb, to preserve battery
Saying that, i feel the same disgust as you my friend, were not apple fanbois fellas, stop acting like em.......if there are issues with the prime, ignoring them wont fix em, and what message will that send to asus..........."its alright guys, your next product is allowed to have defects"..............i don't thinks so
I got my C3 a couple of days ago. Other than the GPS that I knew was not going to work very well inside, if at all, its been working fine. It does work good outside though. Wifi is as good as any other devices I have on my network and range is the same as other devices. I haven't however tested it while using Bluetooth at the same time since I don't really use it that way.
As far as the screen I have no dead pixels and only the slightest light bleed at the top just below the camera. I didn't even notice it until I used the app for checking the screen for dead pixels. It is so small that I not sure I want to return it for another because like I said I don't even see under normal use.
I must say I was a little apprehensive about buying it because of all the threads here with some of the problems some of these have. Add in the fact there were none anywhere near me that I could play with first hand to see if I even would like the little thing it was a big leap of blind faith for me. But it was also the threads with the many happy would buy it again owners that conived me to go ahead buy it and I'm glad I did.
In short I'm happy with it. A buddy and I compared his new iPad(3) with my TP and the first words out of his mouth was WOW that is nice. There was also another iPad2 owner next to me and he was impressed with it too. This was in a place that has always had crappy wifi and I still managed to latch on to it.
I even applied my first hack to it yesterday the black hack for Notifications which really looks nice I think.

Install "Bluetooth GPS" on your Prime, and enable the "Allow Mock Locations" Setting.
Install "GPS 2 Bluetooth" on your phone.
Pair your prime and phone via Bluetooth
Enable GPS and Bluetooth on your phone, and put the GPS 2 Bluetooth widget on a homescreen. Tap the widget to turn it on.
Enable Bluetooth on your prime, and open Bluetooth GPS and connect to your phone in the app (This app also has a widget to turn it on and off at a single click).

Mine works fine, yes. Perhaps you need to disable gps on the Prime. Maybe it's getting confused?
I've also used "bluetooth gps mouse" (do a market search, there's a free version to see if it works for you) on the prime and an app called Bluetooth GPS Output on the phone. Maybe just need a different combination of software to get it working?
Oh, also, you need to enable the "Enable Mock GPS Provider" setting in Bluetooth GPS on the Prime. Otherwise it won't work at all.

anyone here using the MOTOACTV with the GNOTE

i have the samsung note AT&T with ICS 4.0.3 and i cannot answer my calls from the MOTOACTV or return calls from it. the call back button is grey out i can't press it to received calls or to call back. i also have the motorola sf600 bluetooth , i can see the call on the device but i can't answer from it i have to use the button on the bluetooth to answer my calls.
I have a MOTOACTV and did some testing last night using my Note and my Motorola Atrix.
I have a bluetooth headset, and after connecting it I could not answer calls using the MOTOACTV with EITHER phone. I then connected a wired headset and was able to answer calls using the MOTOACTV, but only on the Atrix, not on the Note.
Just curious--did you install the hacked app before Moto released the new app that is supposed to work on any phone?
I tried it with my Gnote and I coulldnt get ANY notifications from the phone at all. And yes its connected. I have tried both the modified version and the newest version of the motoactv app. I also clicked yes and no when deciding what phone I have. ie with motorola phone ver2.1+.
My motoactv is rooted with Cleardroid 1.1.2A rom. Firmware version is 1.1.6. Any help to even get the SMS notification would be greatly appreciated.
Updated: Turns out Handscent SMS is not supported. Now I can see notifications, calling and text. However I cannot answer through the motoactv. I dont even know if i can do that...Any answer would help.
i have since returned my to bestbuy
i don't think it's possible to get all the fuctions working if you don't have a motorola phone. i gave up i went and got all my money back from them. **** this, i'll wait for samsung to come out with one that does with everything or at lease works with samsung phones.i'm not about to buy a motorola phone just to get this thing to work lol.
I have been using the Sony Smartwatch for the last week on the note and been working great! love it! havent charged it in 5 days!
yep the Sony watch looks nice but it is really a different device than the Motoactv.
Primarily the Motoactv has a GPS. I the Moto for golf, marathon training and bicycling. It has wifi auto connectivity and upload and auto sensor connections to Heartrate monitor, bicycle cadence, etc.
It does have a few software issues such as interval training, short battery life, and i can't get it to work at all via bluetooth with my Note. IT connects but that's it...no messages, etc. LUCKILY the problem areas aren't of interest to me but I can see where it is frustrating for those who do need those features.
For my activities...golf, running, bicycling...it's awesome. Was the gorilla glass since it can break...just like smartphones.
where did you get from ?

Have you tried using the earphones that came with the device? (ie. sf200)
Also try this: Go to bluetooth settings on the Note and click on the Motoactv. It should say something like "Connected to phone audio" under the device name. That's how I got my wired earphones to work. For some reason it doesn't automatically connect.
Haven't tried it with a bluetooth headset though.
Sorry for posting here. Old thread, but I think this is going to help.
Tried this with My S3 and my motoactv and worked well. You have to sync your headset to your motoactv AND your gnote.

Not what I wanted but It works and I can answer calls right from the Headset (i'm using a jaybird freedom btw)

Sorry this is a reply to an old post, but I was really interested in getting the Sony Smartwatch but was a little let down when the site sad it would only work with certain phones and the Note wasnt listed. Have you have any issues?
