I swear its the software . You try cm9 yet? I havent but I think the stock one does not do a great job at it.

I have not rooted or played with builds yet - i really like the stock build so far lasts forever in sleep I have not had an issue playing back hd movies or anything just seems odd the read speeds would all be locked right abour 5 a sec.

Is your batter saving mode off?

Try Metallice his rom/kernel. It is a modded stock rom/kernel with a lot of speed tweaks.

I get good speeds. 32gb class 10

FREEX10 2.2 BETA 4 - Huge Quadrant Drop

Hey Everyone,
Just upgraded to Free X10 Beta 4. Everything is working fine, however, my Quadrant score has dropped to about 900. With beta 3 it was 1300. With beta 2, about 1500. So, it keeps dropping with every upgrade.
Does anyone know why this is? Any potential fixes?
it seems to be very different for everyone.
some have better. some have worse.
i can agree that with beta3 i was getting 1500+
when i flashed to beta4 i was getting nothing over 1350
and now even having gone back to beta3 im still not getting over 1400.
so whatever it did, it was clearly permanent since i did a factory reset and EVERYTHING. sucks right ?
what is the benefit of 1350 or 1500 ? It sounds both high...I do have 1310 at beta4, but for what it is necessary to have higher scores? Playing fast games? Or is it just a matter of who gets the highest number? My phone is going like crazy on 1310.....If it's just about the numbers, I know for a car more Horsepower doesn't mean automatically more speed, it depends on more than just the horsepower...
I really don't know where this amount stands for, I asked before but no one could explain it clearly...
My quadrant dropped at 1100..

well the problem for me is. at first with beta3 i was getting 1500+ the first run with quadrant.
now that ive tried beta4 and gone BACK to beta3 i get around 1000 to 1190 the first run. and need 3 or 4 runs to get up to 1300. and the scores in between 1 and 4 may be lower or higher than the previous. so now it just seems something has made it inconsistent.
but i do agree with you my phone is still fast.

"Quadrant Obsession" is the sequel to the "Free RAM obsession"!
I happened to read this article today and it helped understand a few things!
Check it out!
I used to have around 1500 with beta 4.
Recently i installed data2sd and this works like a charme.
I now get scores around 2500
Phone is stable only had 1 fc but that was right after the installation so i think the data wasn't setteld yet now it runs for 3 days wirh no problems at all.
Z you really rock...
Thanks for Xrecovery, your super roms and data2sd

i know this is a stupid quest but how can i know my scores? can some one show me how?
I am on Beta 4 and i get CONSTANT 1550 Quadrant scores.
I even installed the Data2SD addon which now gives me a constant 2550 (which im not entirely liking because theres a lot of fcs and the phone tends to freeze up a lot more, so im going to revert when i get my new one)

[Q] How to adjust CM7 read ahead to 3072KB?

I'm having some serious lag on my class 10 32GB card and it takes like 10 seconds to load gallery. This started on the Ba2tf cm7 rom. It didn't do it before. I'm guessing the read ahead is below 3072KB. Otherwise I suppose I/O is lacking on the latest CM7 rom?
thanks
It took me 4 seconds to load the Gallery with a 32GB class 4 on Weekly 4, not too bad. It only takes half a second with QuickPic though and I like QuickPic better anyways.
I think you want SD Speed Increase from the market.

Thanks! On the previous build it was always instantly fully loaded. This class 10 card really performs excellent. It's a Wintec from newegg and I get about 15MB/s writing from windows 7. On smaller files it'll down to like 5MB/s but that's normal I suppose. Anyway I'm thinking either I/O rates are poor in the latest stable release or the read ahead it at like 1024KB. At least from my tests on my HD2, I always saw best performance and instant gallery loads at 3072KB, at least on my class 10 card.
I'll give that market app a shot. They usually have to be compatible with the kernel. We will see.
Thanks

yeah, performance seems poor when copying flac music files that are like 20-40MB per file say 1.5GB worth. I get like 5MB/s when on that last stable cm7 release I'd see up to 8-9MB/s on FLAC files writing from windows 7. I got up to 18MB/s write on big files and on the Ba2tf I'm getting like 12-15MB/s. I just wonder what happened to the I/O system on the ba2tf build over the previous? I guess I may be alone on this, or no one cares or notices a 3-5MB/s reduction in writes from windows 7. I'm running a Wintec 32GB class 10 card. I'll stick with ba2tf since there are a few minor improvements however there are some I/O rate losses so it's a hard choice for me. I'll reinstall the last build again and test it out and then compare.
Later
BTW - 3072KB seems to work ok. Looked like by default it was at 128KB?!?

Got it!! Now messing with it. Here's what i found

JUST opened it 10min! I will add random things ive added and done to it,here. And will update regularly. Anyone wants me to try something, let me kno.
1. Ran antutu bench and got 10030 on the "balanced" mode! Took a hunch, switched it to " normal" mode and got a 10807!!! To put it in perspective, my a500 OCd to 1408mhz got me 5600.
2...SSOOOO thin.... i own an ipad2and i can feel the difference.
3. Installed tune in radio..speakers are nice! More base than my a500. Not meant to fill a living room full of music, but works great in a small room.
4. Glow room was smooth running and touchy, even while i was downloading gunbros update and tunein radio on pause in the background......oh yeah, still have it in " normal mode"
5.. just got interupted with a firmware update. Rebooting.....
6... wifi seems normal to me when comparing to my a500. Dboth have 2 of 4 bars 30ft from att router through 2 walls. Downloaded gunbros update with no issue. Also ran netflix 60ft from router with no issues. This time router upstairs Prime downstairs.
7... riptide is awesome...gunbros seems the same.
8..camera is nice. Pic i took was pretty close to what you see on your screen. No noticeable color changes (no flash involved).
9.. not too impressed with video camera. Only did a few secs on 1080and 720. Moved around and still get slight hesitations, unlike iphones. Maybe its the software and ICS will b better.
10...browser is browsing is a little herkyjerky. I used both opera and dolphin hd and both felt like they " hung " for afew sec before continuing on. I use these 2 browsers more than the stock because i have more consistant video file downloads with them. Downloading a 1.65 gig video. Let you knowhow it does.
11.. downloaded a 2gb 1080p mkv video file with the tablet and played it with MX Player on HW mode. Played flawlessly. My a500 would have had to use SW fast mode and still wouldnt have played an mkv file larger than 700mb smoothly. AWESOME!

Wow! That benchmark of your a500 OC compared to Prime is sick. Might be an indicator of how prime will hold up to newer dual cores over clocked or higher speeds . That isnt even a small jump, it's a MAJOR improvement. Great first impressions. Can't wait to get mines tomorrow, hopefully, or Friday. Keep us updated. Also if you notice any wifi or gps issues. I'm trying to gauge if those issues are affecting everyone or not.
Have you downloaded OnLive for it yet?
Just to put that in further perspective, I've overclocked my Galaxy Tab 8.9 LTE (SGH-1957) to 1.94Ghz (it's a APQ8060 Snapdragon, stock at 1.5GHz) and my best Antutu was 7478. At stock 1.5GHz, I score around 6200. Tegra 3 at 1.4GHz is cleaning my clock though, and the TP at the top of the Antutu charts (at 1.6GHz) is doubling my stock scores.
Oh did the retail TP come with riptide, glowball, shadowgun, ect or was that jusst a tester builder version that came with the games? Thanks!

My opinion on the 3.0 Port
Throwing out the crashes, as it's so pre-alpha it's very expected. It's the fastest rom I've ran on my 8GB Nook tablet. Also the headphone jack is SOOOO Loud. And it's gonna be a keeper as soon as the stability gets better. Battery life should be the last thing worried about.

Battery life is quite important for a mobile device. In the case of this kernels development, the devs are looking at battery as related to screen on time and the backlighting issue. So yeah, battery kinda relevant.
Sent from my NookTablet using Tapatalk
I believe the 3.x kernel should achieve a better battery life than former kernels , as soon as the backlighting issues got fixed .

It can, if the devs can get Ducati M3 working without the battery drain, rebooting, and backlighting (which is the cause of battery drain). The 2.6 kernel only used the Cortex A9 part of the Nook (only has 2 cores), but including the Ducati in for the 3.0 kernel would add the Ducati M3 cores (adding the Ducati M3s would make it 4 cores/quad core total), which would help Video and UI acceleration.

I meant, since the kernel is WIP, it would be best to worry about stability more than the battery life. Sorry for the misunderstanding.
how do you test?
I have gone back to 5/30/12 daily and have been up for over 1:30:36 minutes per cpu spy.
I have tried each day's daily, but this one is the best for not rebooting on my system. (16gb nt). I played solitaire for most of this time and try all other stuff.
I use GooManager and TWRC to download and flash each day's daily and request backups. Before rebooting I clean caches. Then starting testing...
Check that this is the latest flash, run cpu spy and then os monitor. Then check the weather via browser. If I have not rebooted, then play a few games of Solitaire. Then try a you tube hd. If still ago then try a page with a lot of flash stuff in browser. Then back to Solitaire.
What do you do for testing?
The reboots don't stop me at all. I test heavy applications that would require major Ducati usage.
I am using Kuzma's CM9 Build.
I try out HD in Youtube, including an Original definition (requires heavy video acceleration) that sometimes CM7 can't handle.
I play games that require fast 3d graphics and 2d graphics. You know, games that you usually play on Xbox 360 and PS3 but are ported to iOS and Android.
I use Flash alot in browsers, including watching E3 streaming in HD.
I work Ducati out like a boot camp.
I know Ducati is the reason of rebooting because,
Once I finished the Original definition Youtube video and exited to homescreen, reboot occurs.
Once I finish playing 2 3d games, reboot.
After the 2nd reboot, I check the battery.
Not much drain, probably atleast 10% or more after heavy usage of Ducati. I expected atleast 20% of a drain.
I tried E3 streaming, but after about 10 minutes, reboot bomb.
I work Ducati to see what it can really do.
I stay on Kuzma's build for more testing on Ducati.
So, now I know Ducati's Acceleration is the reason of rebooting.
does the release of samsung source,
http://www.theinquirer.net/inquirer/news/2181708/samsung-sources-galaxy-s3-source-code
help the kernel devs figure out the problems ?
( hmmm, how can i get one of those and not bust my budget wide open ? )

I have installed GooManager and TWRC waiting for the right build to flash and test. (As soon as the re-boot issue is resolved, I will do so.)
Are the steps you listed all that are needed to flash CM9 with the 3.x kernel? (I have a 16gb NT running Team B's CM7) Just want to make sure it is that simple.
Thanks.

[Q] Battery life on AOSP vs Stock based and charging time

Hi,
I keep on trying various ROMs available. I have noticed that on the same usage pattern 20 hours after a charge stock ROM or stock based ROMS give me around 2 hours to 2.15 hours of screen on time on 3G/2G but if I use AOSP based ROM Omega or earlier the CM it gives me hardly 1.15 hours of screen on time and it dies! Does anybody experience it? Any ways to improve battery life on OMEGA ROM to match it with Sammy ROMS?
I use minimal apps including whatsapp, location on, gmail on push sync, twitter, a little of music max 1 ~1.5 hrs. Also have installed same Kernel Agni with same profiles extreme battery saving or normal-optimized! But still I find so much of difference!
Another thing I have noticed I use 700 mAh charger to charge my phone, it takes around 3 hours on Sammy ROMs but it charges like in 2 or 2.15 hrs on Omega/AOSP based ROMs.
Can anyone help me to understand if you face similar issues? any solutions? any way we can improve battery life on Omega? Please don't tell to turn off location that has hardly helped me!
P.S. Omega ROM version 4.4.2 everywhere! and Sammy ROM 4.3 everywhere!
