Huawei 8650 overclocking kernel - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have the Huawei 8651(same as 8650) and its already rooted and has CW recovery on it with the stock rom. I wanna keep the rom stock. I do want to overclock it. Is there a kernel I can use to OC it?

I guess there isnt an overclocking kernel I can flash?

You need to install a custom kernal to overclock.

Install Faux's - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1156040
or Edgan's kernel - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1173225
to allow overclocking
stock kernel is max 1ghz. the custom kernels allow you to do 1.1 ghz
Which kernel is better for undervolting? And I have no interest in overclocking. Yet anyways.
Sent from the coolest voided warranty phone ever.
i personally prefer Faux123's kernel, but they both do the job just fine.
yea i concur faux123 for the win!!!!!
beemed up useing an alienv3 s-off, bootloader unlocked!! /overclocked /faux123(thanks)for all the great development on these awsome devises!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
thanks fellas :-D
This is now the kernel of choice:

Working very well for me!
I just flashed faux 's..
I'm really feelin that extra ram, goddamn!

Faux kernel in stock rom.

can i use the faux kernel with the stock rom with the latest OTA? Which advantages i gain? Thanks
If by stock ROM you mean AT&T 4.5.9.1, then yes you can use his kernel. The main noticeable advantages are the ability to overclock and undervolt. Other than that, there are some tweaks to the code that also contribute to improving performance.
I would only flash this if you really want to overclock your phone though. If not, stick with stock -- the phone is fast enough as it is.

You need custom kernel. But dont have any custom kernel to work with JB what you can overclock.
Enviado do meu GT-I9300
use an o/c kernel.....no I won't suggest one
Go to development and read
As far as im aware omega 23 is custom stock rom. JB ect.
to unlock overclocking you would need a a new boot.img withunlocked overclocking
that wont be out for JB roms until the source is released.
You would have to install a earlier rom if you want to use a costom boot.img with unlock overclock.

What Kernel does that ROM come with? Is it the STOCK kernel? If so, you CANNOT overclock the STOCK kernel at all and can only overclock CUSTOM Kernels that have that ability built into them.
More info from you is needed...
It seems the JB Rom from Omega doesnt have this overclocking unlocked

there won't be any o/c kernels until Samsung release their source code after jb official release

[Q] Overclocking kernel

I own a GTi9300 4.1.2 XXEMC2 rooted but still on stock (didn't find any advantage in any custom ROM so far) i rooted it using CFautoroot.. I didn't install CMW yet using ROM manager, but im willing to once i find a kernel that will let me overclock my phone.
So any adviced Kernel that will work on my phone to overclock? Currently SetCpu only allows me to underclock :/.
Thanks in advancee
N. B: I DONT OWN A MEMORY CARD IN CASE ITS NEEDED TO FLASH A KERNEL
check the development section for compatible kernels. all of them allow OC

[Q] Xperia P - How to choose a Kernel

While on my old Sensation, i often flashed diffrend roms, but never a Kernel that was not includet in the rom.
From what i have read in this forum, youd could increase the batterie time, if a custom kernel is flashed.
The tutorials for flashing a kernel are well writen, so i don't see a problem here. And yes, i am aware, that i nee to unlook the bootloader to flash a custom kernel.
My question is, how to chose a kernel? For what information do i have to look?
And for understanding. Do i have to flash another rom to get a custom kernel running, or could i stay on the stock rom and try the kernel itself?
Does a custom Kernel mean, i loose some of the functions that are in the stock kernel /rom or do have all kernel the"basic" functions of the stock kernel and just have addional functions and optimization?
Thanks for your time and help.

You don't need to flash custom kernel to increase battery life.
All you need to flash a custom kernel is unlocked bootloadr. Be sure to save DRM keys if bravia engine is important to you.
Then look for a custom kernel for stock roms, and custom stock tom too if you wish, or you can choose a non-stock based rom abd kernel.
