Black keyboard on P7500 like the one on P5110 ? - Galaxy Tab 10.1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello I have updated my P7500 to ICS, however I noticed that in the P5110 version the keyboard has a black theme with numbers on the top of it and in mine is a white one. Because I am really new to android, how can I change the keyboard to the one used in P5110?
Both are called "Samsung Keyboard"

You want to download CM9 and extract the LatinIME.apk . Just unzip and look in the systeem/app folder. Install. And voila!

Thank you for the reply, but I am sure that the tablet I saw has only the factory ROM and nothing else because it was in a store.

Get gingerbread keyboard on galaxy s II

I just got my galaxy s 2 today n beim using it fr a few hours. Came from the nexus one n im missing pure android feel to apps.
I also cant seem to figure out how to get the dictionary working on the samsung keyboard or swype n i seem to miss the old keyboard layout too.
Is it just a simple case of finding the apk n installing it?

Gingerbread keyboard:
Search for "Keyboard from Android 2.3" in the Market.
is it reliable though? do you know from where i can get the actual one?the official one?
Sorry can't test it, my S2 is still on its way :-(
But I read about it and afaik it's ok.
I don't know if there is an "official" gingerbread keyboard for the S2, I think the one in the market is the best you can get.
Don't sue me if it's not true - This is just based on my little research
I have the CM7 keyboard as I much prefer it thanks to the long press delay option that the normal 2.3 KB does not have.
Just pull the apk from the CM7 ROM zip and install using the SGS file manager, simples

found it..but ended up using the Keyboard for Android 2.3 from the market because the keys in that are bigger!
Do you find that you don't get the dictionary come up in the email program though? It works in Handcent SMS, but not in email for me... (when using the market GB Keyboard I mean)

Hi
I don't think it is an official version rather it should be a mod version. I am using it for the last one week from the time i had S II and it works fine for me.

I installed the CM7 KB but I can't get the haptic feedback to work.
How did you manage this?
when i installed the CM7 keyboard, when i switch to landscape it cuts off the area where you would normally see the typed words, this is not good.
any way to shrink down the size, or get rid of the line with the extra characters?

[APP] Open Split Keyboard (Holo themed Tab Keyboard)

Open Split Keyboard has now been verified to work with the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1. This keyboard provides three different layouts: split keyboard, full keyboard, and one handed keyboard. It defaults to a holo theme, but can be switched to the Gingerbread or stone themes.

Nice find, I've been looking for a decent free thumb keyboard layout.
Doesnt work for me. Installed it but does not show up in keyboards to select from in tab 10.1 (16gb 3g version with new touchwiz version that comes by default in europe now).

It should be in Settings>Language & Input>Keyboard Settings>Configure input methods.
You have to check it to enable it to be chosen as a keyboard.
Works amazingly well. Love it.
Love this keyboard
Cool. Thanks.
Smail bug with split layout. Under full the space below the spacebar triggers spacebar, under split it triggers the next row up. Makesnfor?some?interesting?sentnaces?if you aren't playiny attention!

Samsung keyboard on CM7

Hi Everybody,
I would like to install the standard samsung keyboard on my CM7.
I see that this is possible in other similiar models like the galaxy mini but I dont know if thats compatible with my Ace and cant find a specific one.
Would anyone help me with this?
Many thanks!
I simply flashed the mini one a few days ago, it works but it has annoying bugs (e.g. gray letter colors instead of black on white keys)

Keyboard problems

Hey everyone.
I come from an iphone 4 and recently bought this amazing phone. One thing Ive noticed on stock ICS is that when you type incorrectly a word it shows you a red dotted line underneath that word so you can change it to another.
I havent seen this on any keyboard. Not on samsungs stock keyboard or swiftkey or swype.
Am I doing something wrong or is it that it doesnt come preinstalled in the SGS3? I need that to see which words I typed wronged. How can I enable it?
Thanks!
I got 99 problems but a keyboard ain't one.
Move this to /system/app and choose as your default input method, its the stock android keyboard from ICS. (LatinIME.apk)

Original Keyboard Dock not working with Cyanogenmod

Hello all,
I just wanted to share with you, that my Original Samsung Keyboard Dock is not working with Cyanogenmod 9 from the Development Section here.
Does anybody have a solution for this?
Will it ever work with Cyanogenmod?
So far I am very very impressed with Speed and Stability of the latest CM9 Version by locerra.
Hopefully someone can chime in on the Keyboard Dock Situation...
Thanks again all for making such an incredible Community.
Cheers
qwertz
Doesn't work for me too
Did you ever find a solution for this OP?

Same thing for me on SGT-P7510 on sammobile.com
Swiftkey app is a little compatible with external keyboards.
Something like this : go into the settings of the keyboard swiftkey app, validate the Terms od use choose English (US), define Swiftkey as the default input, and therefore in its parameters, go to Advanced > then choose External Keyboard Layout > English and it's good !
Or save the Samsung Keyboard .apk on ICS Stock ROM and bring the application on CM10. Maybe it could work
This is a known limitation of cyanogenmod.
have you read of any hacks / alternate soft keyboards that can get it to work?
The stock ICS rom is so limiting (and to me seems slow) compared to the JB rom (CM10)
i recall having to enable the dock option in the cm settings for my xoom, perhaps the same is true for the gtab?
in Paranoid rom working of keyboard doc should be fixed. I dont have one to test, unfortunately
here is link to changelog http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1838391
Works with the latest CM10 build too (the modified one recently uploaded):
Should work in the latest "official" rom too.
