s5830i and s5830M are absolutely the same - Galaxy Ace S5830 General

Hello
I have seen a few posts asking about this and people always kept insecure about any minimal difference between these models.
Today when I was changing the digitizer of a s5830M I realized that on the motherboard it says "s5830i", so I share this evidence which proves that they are absolutely the same in terms of hardware. Hope this clear most doubts. I attach the pic (sorry for the quality, it was taken with the Galaxy i9003).

S5830i, S5830C and S5830M are the same, only regions are different.

Yup same hardware, means firmware also can be same...

I am not electronic at all, but have a doubt, if the motherboard is the same, what about the chips installed on it? are they the same?

Repairing the lcd on a S5830mgsmh
I recently aquired this phone and i have been trying to replace the lcd. The orignal one lights up but its all cracked it shows and image and all but its all cracked. The new replacements, I have ordered two so far on ebay for bout 10 dollars each says they are for a s5830 but all i see is an lcd backlight turn on but no image. I put back the original and it displays an image.

Hello, why if these M and i versions are the same, I'm facing the issue that I'm trying to install a custom rom for the i version in the M version, and the cwm says it is a "different" version and it aborts the installation process.... What should I do?? Thanks in advance.

Helo.
My gf has ZTE blade, suddenly she wakes up one morning and the digitizer looks like spider net (as ussually noone did that, right...). So this wouldn't be a problem, im IT fan, so the order of new digitizer after a few informations flew to me was placed and the digitize came, even with the tools to replace - it is this one:
ebay
I replaced it and all fitted together, everything was cool, BUT! (here it is, when the trouble starts)
It doesn't recognize touches.
So after the whole summer I had some time to do a little research and found this post in forum on DX site, where they sell the digitizers:
Not valid for ZTE Blade (European) -> Hi all.
I've bought and installed this touch screen. The phone don't recognize it. It doesn't work.
The chip is diferent than the original. The chip's mark of the original screen is synaptics. Although in the screen is printed ZTE like the original.
I suspect that this model is incompatible with the european phone at least.

So does anyone know, how to find the correct model? As everyone, I dont want to spend extra money for something not working with my model.
The model of the phone is this one, so with the TFT screen, not the OLED. already rooted.
Can the problem be caused by the phone beiing rooted? I dont believe that.
Thanks all, xda has always been my best hope in unsolvable problems:cyclops:
Try a more recent rom, like Cyanogen 7.2, I think they changed the digitizer in later models.

There is ICS with CM i think, so it's one of the latest. Are there any other suggestions please? Don't tell me,that XDA won't come up with something
you need to find out exactly what chipset it is & if there is a driver in the kernel for it. if it's a standard blade touchscreen (there have been a few different versions) then it should work in recent cm7 or cm9 & most roms based on those. if there is a working kernel driver for the digitizer, then either your new digitizer doesn't work, there is some other fault on the phone, or you connected it wrong.

so the problem sits at the same stage at the time. another birthsday is coming, im playing with a thought to buy a new phone instead - do you think blade 2/3 is worth it? is it equal to this first model comparing price/user output? im aware of the topic non related to the section, but it is still solving the initial problem

They're pretty good phones for the price but they have basically have no dev support and they are after all Chinese phones. Its better to go for a renowned company
the zte blade digitizers have run out for quite some time now!

Screen problem with galaxy tab 10.1

Hi Xda'ians,
I have a problem with my Galaxy tab GT-7510 and would like your help/opinion/advice ...
Today, my galaxy tab screen started showing weird colors. I mean that all the black colored letters, black backgrounds had a reddish color. I have attached the snapshots of the screen image that indicate the problem. As you can see it's really difficult to use the tablet due to this problem.
I had a chat with the samsung support and they willing to check my tablet but alas, my warranty had expired and they informed me that I would have to pay 200$ for them to evaluate, replace parts and ship the tablet to me.
So questions to all --
1) Do you think it is worth paying $200 and getting my tablet repaired or is it better to get a new tablet ???
2) Has anyone experienced such a problem before and how did you get it resolved ??
3) Is there any way I can fix this problem myself with the minimal expenditure ??
Any suggestions by the community would be really very helpful !!!
PS: I have checked out videos of how to replace the screen but not sure which part needs to be replaced (i.e., digitizer/screen or LCD or some other component)
Thank you all for your help in advance !!!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Update :
I tried flashing a stock 3.1 image on the tablet but the red color still appears. I have attached another image of the problem.
Have you tried a different ROM? Is it possible its software related?

I had the same problem and some people I know as well. I tried everything to fix, from using the hair drier to leaving in in the refrigerator for 30 mins. Nothing works.
Please note that noone complains about ipads, and they are very good with warranties. If I ever get another tablet, it will be ipad.

LCD part difference, SHW-M440S vs. GT-I9300?

Hi,
I have an SHW-M440S version of the S3, which I picked up in Seoul last year, while I'm actually based in Europe, where they sell the GT-I9300 version of the S3. The screen got shattered a bit, and the official Samsung service is giving me a hard time replacing the screen, saying the SHW-M440S is 'different', and they have 'logistical issues' sourcing a screen for my phone. These are statements I don't actually believe to be true, as if if the screens are different, they are made in the same factory. I simply think they just don't bother to look it up.
I tried to dig into service manuals & parts list, but couldn't dig up a service manual for the SHW-M440S online. I wonder, would anyone know if the screen component is _really_ different in these two models, or they are just BS-ing?
thanks,
Akos

that's what I thought. but how I can I prove this to them, so as to rub this under their nose, and point out that they are simply lying?
I dont really sure about the way to prove...maybe contact a samsung service with that question and show the answer to the service you wanna use.. however you can tell them that you did it in the past or something like that

LCd SHW M440S
Hi Akos,
Recently I had the same issue. I was trying to fix my SHW M440S by ordering online a new LCD (I am in italy so there is only the I9300 available) but the shop told me that when they asked samsung they said it was not possible. they also specified the lcd would work but the problem is when u try to connect the rear part of the phone, which apparently differs in the two cases.
Any news from you about that?
thanks

[Q] Unusual & unlikely Samsung GS3 i9300 running Gingerbread

Hi everyone! Today I finally decided to register in this great community, mainly because I'm looking for help and you are the ones that can help me.
I'm Henry and as the title says, I've hold and played with a Samsung Galaxy S3 running nothing more than Gingerbread. Why and how were my first questions when I first saw it, but I haven't been able to answer that.
This is the story: a friend of mine was given that GS3 hoping that he could solve the stuttering and lagging that it had (has) after a professor of him took it to a "technician". He, being the Android lover he is became surprised, so he came to me yesterday hoping that we could bring things back to normal (install stock jelly bean), but with no avail. That "thing" has the stock recovery and is not rooted, things we found EXTREMELY weird. We spent three hours trying to root it and then install a new recovery using different tools (gingerbreak, odin, odin mobile [we realized odin mobile needs root permissions to work, but still], samsung kies, universal_gb_root, framaroot) but you guessed: nothing worked. The only thing we didn't use was SuperOneClick. We couldn't put it into download mode and when we connected it to the pc, it didn't appeared as "adb interface" or "android composite device" but appeared with another strange name that had nothing to do with samsung or android, I can't recall the name of it right now. The other things we found was that the GS3 was showing that the internal storage was just 200mb, when it's a phone with "16"gb of storage, and that the battery says SAMSONG instead of SAMSUNG.
Long story short: it was an international, unlocked Samsung Galaxy GS3 i9300 running Gingerbread. My friend got it because a professor of him wanted he to fix it because after she took it to a "technician" it was very laggy. It was not rooted, it has stock android recovery (useless) and odin won't recognize it.
Do you guys have any effing idea of what is going on and how can we fix it?
We have three hypothesis: 1) they swapped her phone with a chinese knockoff (an extremely identical and functional knockoff); 2) they swapped the GS3's hard drive; 3) they didn't know what they were doing and installed Gingerbread instead of Jelly Bean (yup, sounds unlikely).
Thank you very much for yor help and attention!

They all do. These things you listed are the easiest things to "clone". In fact, since they live in software, they could easily have been ripped out of the official firmware. A friend of mine (willingly) bought a Note 2 clone. It even has the annoying whistle notification.
It's not that accurate a clone though, if it comes with gingerbread, which the S3 never came with.

You need to prove 2 things.
1) It is a fake
2) It was not a fake before
2 is quite easy if it was supplied form an official network / carrier / provider store. 1 will involve screenshots of the about phone area and some physical shots as well as some info gained from this app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.cpuid.cpu_z&hl=en

You're welcome. Please let me know how you get on,
Easiest way to tell a clone is to take the back off and compare side by side with a genuine s3, the shape of the inner mouldings, position of sim and sd readers is very hard to exactly match during the reverse engineering process.
But the gingerbread and lack of download mode is conclusive in itself.
Check the imei and serial numbers on the original phone packaging against the imei of the handset you hold, if they are the same then your friend bought a clone.

[Q] connect a S2 display to a S3 motherboard

Dear XDA members,
First of all, I want to apologize for my bad English...
I have an S3 with a broken screen. My phone gets on, make noises, but I have no picture.
My wife has an old S2, it is possible to connect my S3 motherboard to the display of the S2? The connectors look the same, but does it works?
I know that the resolutions of the S2 and S3 are different, but all I need to the is to make a backup. (USB port is also broken )
Thanks.

Pretty sure that would just fry the display of the s2, because it is different hardware than the s3.

Sorry I can not help you the way I had in mind.
With your original problem I would of sent you an old s3 complete screen assembly I have to either use to copy data or use permanently.
I swapped it out because of a bad glass replacement done by a local shop but it still works and functions...most of the time. Sometimes the touch doesn't work for a few seconds but the Netherlands is to far away.
Sorry for raising hope

I can borrow a S4 or Note3, is it possible to connect one of those to my S3??
Thanks guys.
I think this won't work pretty well. I know that it is the same type of display: Super AMOLED capacitive TOUCHSCREEN, 16M colors, but the site and resolution is different. And the next question is, if the connectors really fit in!
