My X10 randomly reboots with every rom - XPERIA X10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hi, I have my xperia x10 now for about 2 years and since some weeks my x10 reboots a lot when doing things. I tried many different roms and with all the same from cm7 to cm9 to mokee and stock roms.
I think my processor is getting to hot or something that he starts to reboot or something i dont know.
Does someone know how to fix this or what rom will be the best to use ?
i hope someone knows the answer and can maybe help!!
regards,
Jeroen

Since you said you tried CM7/CM9 I'm assuming that your phone is rooted and bootloader unlocked.. if yes then you need specific kernel for a specific ROM...
Fxp kernels for cm7 and cm9
DoomLords kernel with wifi fix for x10s/tech devil ROMs
Fear kernel for feraroms...
Download and do a clean install(delete everything from your MICRO SD card, wipe system, cache and dalvik. Mouth system, cache and wipe them) of kernel and ROM....

You r not screwed.... chill its ok.......... If you have a card reader use it or mmc to SD card adapter and plug it into laptop... then you can copy what zip files you want onto memory card...
look for this kind of readers from eBay/best buy/amazon/chroma/big bazaar. Etc.....

thnx all for your responses!!!
Why u think the battery is the problem? my telephone doesnt fall out he only reboots very often.. sometimes 3 times after eachother.
I am now using the original 2.3.3 software from sony ericsson. I uses updater service. Now still when i do many things or use a large number of the processor he trips and reboots...
i dont like standard android 2.3.3 software is there any rom that is light and runs smooth with some nice things.
I think its not recommended to use a android 4 rom isnt it?
thnx for your great help all!!!
regards,
Jeroen

checkout the rom below... i found it very light/stable and fast... currently using it
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1802857
i wont suggest ICS/android 4.0 roms as they drain battery faster...

Had the same problem until I replaced the battery kept shutting down on me at 85% charge now its back to normal cost me £5 for a new battery
Make sure to follow battery instructions then carry out a battery calibration aswell then after a few full discharges and full charges you'll be back to how it used to be when the phone was new
Hope this helps

Credits & Thanks:
Z (As this is his ROM), Doomlord (For the Kernel),Android team, CM Crew, FreeXperia team (special thanks to Jerpelea), all X10-XDA Developers, everyone else who helped.
Please Note; This is none of my work. I have basically added a Custom Kernel (Doomlord's) to Z's original 2.3.5 release. It's not as simple as flashing a Kernel Zip over the ROM Zip. Several files had to be changed in order for this to work. I know a few people were after this, and Z hasn't been seen for a while. I will full remove this upon Z's Request or when he returns and/or Updates his original post.
Download V001
DHCP Fix If Needed
HotFix001
HotFix002 Please read the following before flashing 002 Before Flashing 002

We do not need you to do this for us.
Please remove this thread before Z see this and never coming back.

Correct, but ive made sure everything works. Wifi etc.
If people are going to start to argue and flame, then ill just simple get a MOD to close it.
I was trying to help out people, who have been having trouble getting this working, etc.
Its not as simple as using Z's 001 release and then flashing a Kernel zip over the top. Kernel files (Charger, Chargemon) need to eb changed in zips so that Xrecovery isn;t broken!
Is the battery drain still there ?
What cpu setting is set ? me likes long battery, under volt and overclock
I have huge drain with BT, would be nice if everything was fixed.
oke
Oke go ahead, lets see how this go.
I think just install cwm in this rom and flash Doom kernel. cm7fxp

Could do, but most people prefer X-Recovery. Easier to swap back to other ROMS Etc.
I must stress that im taking no credit for this.
I know hw hard it was to get this combo working, Doomlord does too, i was messaging him loads asking questions as to why things wouldn't work at first!
Let Z decide
Nice work, Sure i will try your upload.
what are the bugs apart from tethering?
If its works il will try this for sure.
Sorry for the replys, Z is a Saint and if some one using its work then we jump out of ower chair.

Rooting the phone for a friend... NAKED CHICK INSIDE...

My buddy has an x10 - noticing horrendous/odd battery life. I am no stranger to Android and have convinced him to root and try a custom ROM.
He will need stability and battery life... I don't see him becoming a flash-a-holic like some of us.... at least not yet.
First things first.... I was going to follow this guide to root his stock GB build:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1305945
Seems like a great guide...
THEN I would like to hook him up with what you guys tell me is the most suitable ROM... CM7 is nice, but I did not know if it was ready for this phone. Solid build and battery life are key. If there is a better non-CM7 build in that regard, would love your opinion.
Thanks guys!
Oh... and for the OP title change... here is your hot naked chick:

Try cm7 rom from zdzihu its the most stablest rom ever every rom from z is ssolid as a stone freex10 is just epic
Sent from my X10i using xda premium
I didn't think any cm7 roms were 100% functional yet? Seems like there is always "something" like camera or wifi issue...
I have only tried Wolfbreak and T.E.A.M., both are based on stock and heavily tweaked w/features added. They are very stable and fast.
Currently on T.E.A.M. and loving it
Whatever rom you decide on, optimize the battery after you flash or at least delete your battery stats.
I vote for TEAM rom. It's great, smooth, everything works. Based on stock and they like stability. Battery time seems good too, and I use the phone ALOT when I'm not at work or asleep.
The ThKernel they recommend (easiest to get in AppMan after installing ROM) is great too, only downside (for me) is the kernel ramps up in call volume like crazy. Lowest volume sounds like a quite speaker phone and there's just a bit of distortion... but if your friend wants loud in call volume or talks on it in noisy places a lot it may be the perfect kernel.

i dont think any tutorial is needed for root now .there is oneclick root in flashtool 4.2.0 and also in superone click....
as for the rom i just Wolfbreak v6..very stable and good battery life..
Thank you all for the suggestions. Hoping I can take the phone today and do some work on it.
I will be looking at the suggested TEAM rom. I agree that CM7 would be nice, but does not sound like it is ready yet. This person needs stability, not features.
I need to research the root methods for the X10 better.... seems there are many ways of doing it and the Flash Tool is new to me. I am used to flashing an update.zip in stock recovery and then using adb to get a custom recovery or using Rom Manager.
Does Rom Manager work well on the X10.... i
What is the easiest method of achieving root on the stock gingerbread? I dont like apps like superoneclick, but if that will work and get me into Rom Manager quickly, so be it.

1.Download flashtool and just press the root button while usb debbuging and unknown sources are checked
2.x10 is not on rom manager yet but will be on it soon
3.T.E.A.M. and wolfbreak rom and ThJap rom all are great stock roms
4.CM7 have bad battery and only other problem is that their is no zoom in camera
wow, so no need to do anything with FlashTool other than press "root?"
I thought I would need to resort to an earlier build of the phones software....
If it is that easy, does the root function include a recovery?
Dumb question, button combo to get into recovery on the X10?
I assume I will just root and flash like normal... previous post makes it sound crazy easy.
Thanks!
oops late replay
yes now its just one click root
and for recovery press the "+" button on flashtool and choose xrecovery
press back button for recovery
this went amazingly smooth. Thanks!
For xrecovery reboot & spam the back button right when you see "Sony Ericsson"

best kernel is Rage kernel and best rom (battery, music, stable) is ginger-crustz rom by Lasan
hybrom v16 more stable with x kernel. and now i do try with hybrom v17.
I think CM7 RC3 is super stable..... www.get.cm ......
I am using CM7 for a month now, with Rage kernel, and believe me when i say.....its the fastest, my phone can get.
U can flash dual speaker fix by @someguyfromhell and it works like a charm. Though i wasn't able to figure out Xloud, but still....ringtones are pretty loud (i dont listen to music on the speaker).
Battery life is awesome......It's as stable as the 2.3.4 stock ROM!
If you don't want overclocking flash Hybrom v17 + bboof kernel

*screen light not stable its sometimes give a look like shaking(i dono hw to describe the problem)where the screen dim and light on back on very fast looping mode.
*sometimes boot by itself.
*so much of laggy compare to my stock rom before i get rooted.(cannot play games without lag, smetimes cnt even press anything in the game)
*when i enter any application it took so much time to open even i got no apps running on back.
So,can anyone help me to suggest what m i suppose to do?i thought also wanted to use custom kernel and rom.if u think that will be more best please infrm me which kernel and rom will be perfect and trouble free from those prblm i mentioned.

Touch problems / Scrolling issue [maybe digitizer problem?]

I'm using this ver:
Baseband Version: I9100XXLPW
Kernel Version: [email protected] #3
Build Number: IML74K.XWLPD
Don't know if its ICS known bug, but with 'poinerlocation' I can notice that when I scroll up and down intensively (one finger) it's loosing the touch...
I've notice it while I scroll contacts, web browser, etc...
Also multitouch seems have some issues especially when it's close each other.
I've rooted with the 'root/unroot without change kernel', I also tried the 'touch' file from S3 that posted here, nothing changed...
Is that known problem with stock ics?
Anything else I can do?

Don't know if its ICS known bug, but with 'poinerlocation' I can notice that when I scroll up and down intensively (one finger) it's loosing the touch...
I've notice it while I scroll contacts, web browser, etc...
Also multitouch seems have some issues especially when it's close each other.
I've rooted with the 'root/unroot without change kernel', I also tried the 'touch' file from S3 that posted here, nothing changed...
Is that known problem with stock ics?
Anything else I can do?

if u install siyah kernel along with Xtweaks app then u can adjust the Touch Sensitivity values
Ok, so it is a software problem [at ICS]? a known one?
There is any chance that it will fix at 4.0.4 ?
thanks.
Never had such problem with official rom. Some customs had such experience. It depends on software only if your phone is not broken. Change your rom/kernel with backuping it first and check if there is difference.

Well I'm pretty like the stock rom, right now I don't see any reason to change rom (nothing really special) - only if its a problem with stock and then I'll have no choice...
I'v used the app that attached to this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=718364 [pointerlocation]
anyways, I flashed other ver. of stock rom to I9100XWLPG, nothing changed...
@Sun90 - I also installed the siyah 3.3.3d kernel, downloaded extweaks and set it to 1pixel instead of 5.
still seems there is no change.... when I move my finger FAST (its happens only when Im doing it fast!) up and down seems like its lost the 'line' and start it over again instead of keeping the same line...
I'v also put off the screen protector to ensure its not cause the problem....
what else I can do ?
Something wierd I'v found - when I'm testing it while it charging there is no problem! I thought it was supposed to be opposite...
Maybe a battery problem (im using the original one) or what else it could be ??
I attach the image from "PointerLocation" app (the best way to check this issuse) - If you could test it on your device (link for the app is at my previous post)
@IMAGE -This is how it should look while you keep pressing/touching the screen with one finger FAST(!) - up and down intensively.
[I'v got this image only when im using a slow or normal pressing/touch, if im doing it fast it lost the press/touch and restart the line (from blank screen again)]

Maybe it's stupid but you could try to give more voltage to phone by using overclocking app or check some powersaving options and turn it off. Just be careful

Hehe well I prefer not to 'play' with the voltage...
did you or someone tried it [the situation I'v mention with pointerlocation app] ?
I donno if its a bug at all ICS or its only this 'special' phone...
Well, I posted 2 videos
1.video of working good scroll
2.video with my issue....
1.This is HOW IT SHOULD BE *at device that have no problem*
2.And this is how its do at my device - THE ISSUE
Its stop by itself every time... i kept hold my finger on the screen....
Donno what else I can do with this scrolling issue....
anyone notice it too?
What i'v tried:
3 different Samsung Stock-ROM (LPD, LPG, LP7), Siyah 3.3.3d kernel with extweaks, RR Rom with CM9 kernel, PFittech Rom with siyah 3.3.3c kernel (tried extweaks and rom tweaks, what mention in 'touch sensitive')
nothing helps.
every new rom I had wipe data/cache/dalvik cache/fix permissions ....
I even tried Factory Reset with samsung stock, still problem with it.
Few other people that checked this had no problem, I'v tried with other 3+ devices and non of them had this problem.
The touch seems 'stutterer' even with one finger, at video you can see its lost the touch sometimes...
Do you think its a digitizer problem?
I think the only way is to give it back to the store.... the problem has always been....
Are you sure it's not your fingers? Might seem silly, but try someone else, or a stylus.

Hehe I've tried it, when others done this at my phone and had the same issue, and I tried others phones myself and no problem...
maybe touch ****ed up but I've always got it..
Flashed 2days ago CM 9 rom and fluxxi kernel and have same issue. I will check in free time if it will be gone after retriving old rom. This will say it is firmware fault.

Hi mate, any news about this issue?
I found that the problem seens at our cellular operator / samsung importer devices.... checked at least 2 devices that had this issue. (at 5 other that bought from europe and i'v checked - seen no problem at all even at ICS).
Another thing I've found is thats only happen at ANY 4.0.3 rom. (tried few roms, 4 stock, 8 kernels... nothing changed...)
When I've flashed the phone back to GB - 2.3.3 the problem has disappeared..
Very strange, if its not hardware (working fine at GB but have problems with ICS) its some bug at ICS firmware... but why its happens at few devices ? what could be the reason for that ?
BTW - anyone else tried it ?
(the apk to test: http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=354991&d=1278347237)
Would like to get any idea what could be the problem or if there is any way ( besides stays on 2.3.x  ) to fix it...
Thank you again!
Same problem.....on stock ICS 4.0.3

Hi mate, what stock firmware are you on ? [LPD, LPG, ... ]
I've tried LP7,LP9, LPD, LPG ... each of them has the same problem...... (the big problem is that issue also on 4.0.4 AOKP ROMS)
donno what to do.. :\
Just to mention that every ROM/KERNEL I've installed I had a 'kernel clean script' , wipe data, wipe cache, wipe dalvik-cache, fix permission.
If anyone have an idea what could it be or anyone who tried this checking and can post his impression of his device it will be great!
another things I've tried ...
Tried also these 2 'mods' as well, without any change:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1698671 ( [MOD][AOSP]Fugutweaks from Samsung )
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1161262 ( [REF] Solving touchscreen sensitivity issue )
seems like there is no solution to this issue?
There is any change with the voltage values between GB and ICS ?
The only way to get the scrolling work smooth is while it get charge... there are other reasons, except to change voltage ? (if its realy voltage)
Any fix?
I also have this problem since stock 4.04. Has there been any solutions to it yet? does changing from stock make any difference or upgrading/degrading to JB or GB?

FAQ Section
Q) Why the myth ?
A: The myth ROMs are based on the stock roms of your unrooted phones and we bring in some more additional features to our ROMs to ensure stability and speed for daily use.
Q) What is aroma installer ?
A : It is an intuitive interface that lets you choose what you want to have in your ROM from the available options. Just start the installation process and you'll understand what it is
Q) When will the next update for the ROM be released ?
A : No ETAs please. We will release an update when we think it's ready.
Q) I'm not able to get/download OTAs ?
A : Go to our website www.themythteam.com and download the latest myth updater and then retry the downloads.
Q) I installed the myth 3 and my device doesn't boot...?
A : You need an SD ext partition on your SD card. To partition your SD card, backup everything on your memory card, reboot into recovery, go to advanced and select partition SD card option and follow the instructions.
Q) Can I flash battery extender kernel on this ROM ?
A : Yes you can. Be sure to backup everything in case something goes wrong.

Last Myth (Myth 3) wifi problem
I have flash Last Myth (Myth 3) on my s5830. Everything work fine except wifi connection.
It show error and can not activate wifi connection at the first time.
Then I reboot and try to connect wifi again, now it's work but the connection speed is poor.
My other device (Tablet, laptop) does not have the connection speed problem like this.
I try to reboot again and again but the wifi connection speed still very poor.
I have spend 2 days to test this rom but wifi connection speed still the same.
I restore the previous rom and test wifi speed immediately and found that the wifi speed is fast like before.
Is there any patch or how to solve this problem? Because this rom UI is very nice.
Thank you for any help.
Have you tried a fresh, clean flash ? If not try and report. If the same persists, I can consider your problem & can try to help.

The download link for final myth is not working. The dropbox link shows an error saying file not found and another link is very slow. I can't download the full file. The download completes in 20 mb and I can't install it. Let me know where I can download the full size.
BTW Thanks for the Great work.
I'll contact dk and ask him if he could provide a mirror. Thanks for your support. Have a good day.

I tried clean flash again, but wifi speed still the same. Anyway, I went back to CM7.2 and will use this rom for a while.
Thank you for your help.
I see that some of you are reporting a slow download link. Will try to provide mirrors shortly. Thanks for your support.

Is it possible? The Myth as Jelly Bean 4.2.2
I have installed all versions of Myth and other ROMS too but the only compatible and smooth ROM which I ave figured out for Galaxy Ace is the myth. But as a matter of fact Cyanogen Mods like for Ex: 10.1 are way too faster and have much advanced features as well. Personally I feel and was wondering if the myth team can develop the same thing as Jelly Bean with the same thing, features and looks which would be icing on the cake. I am saying this coz I think Myth is the best for Ace devices not CM's coz they drain out battery very fast. So, Is it possible? If yes then when are expecting it to release?
Hello
I am facing battery drain problem.

Yes you can flash the battery extender. I recommend to try a full wipe and a fresh flash before that.

Hello, I already downloaded lastmyth but I'm concerned about the news of consuming the battery too quickly. I think it would be a good contribution to improve this aspect. good job:good:

Hi where can I find the battery extender 1.6 kernel for myth 3? or something like it?
the battery is running out very quickly, although I think this is more a ACE problem than ROM
