Ideal LCD Density - HTC EVO 3D

I've been messing around with it and was wondering if anyone found a perfect density level for our phones to be in.
Right now I'm at 220. I'll probably go lower later on as the demand for more space on my screen increases.

I haven't played around with that much myself, but here's what b.huss2, the person who originally ported Paranoid Andorid to the Evo 3D, recommended for tablet and hybrid mode with that mod.

I don't think their is an ideal LCD density. It really depends on the person and their preference of how much they want.

Personally I think the default 240 is just fine.

I've set mine to 256 to match the physical screen density. Makes things like the keyboard and other buttons bigger so I find myself mistyping much less often.

It looks like my phone doesn't like 210 and below. Damn thing starts to lag. 220 for me.

Warning i put it at 160 and htc Launcher went crazy, if u don't have another launcher better not do it .
Reinstall again the ROM, i love it, or better having a Nandroid backup.

I think that density may work best with the tablet and hybrid mode of Paranoid Android. I haven't tried it with any other ROM or launcher.

What's the lowest you've been able to go on ics stock? I also couldn't goto 160

Extract auto-brightness from Desire ROM?

I was wondering if ianyone has any idea which files we might need to extract from a Desire ROM to replace the auto-brightness code in Nexus ROMs?
I've noticed that it seems to work much better on the Modaco Desire ROM, with a higher base level of brightness and more consistent reaction to the ambient light level.
Wow, thats awesome.
Anybody an idea, where to find?
The script on Nexus is...****ty.
It has automatic brightness, but it's useless on this phone for now.
Thats right i don't even use it as it doesn't work as it should
It will be grate if some one could work it out.
Plus one on that. We need to combine all the best things from both devices to create one super rom...we shall then call it "Super ROM".
I was just discussing this with my brother, a steady 50% level of brightness looks better then the auto feature on the phone.
He just got his and I told him to shut it off its looks horrible, the green look so fake unless the brightness is on 55% steady and up
I do agree with this: the Desire ROM is pretty damn consistent with the auto brightness.

I didnt even bother checking for the auto-brightness on this ROM. I cant believe it works. Thanks OP
+1 on this! I figured I wasn't the only one.
would be cool if it's possible, but i am not sure if it will work?
+$10 LOL
I know how to extract it. I'll have a look at try it out on my N1.
Just use the desire rom. Why do some people not like it? I love it.

Thirded (is that a word?)
I tried the Desire ROM some days ago, and the screen seemed brighter than the default Nexus ROM (both at max brightness). Anyone noticed that ?
While we are on the subject of extracting things.... how about extracting the HTC Music app to be used on Cyanogen....

i am fine with the stock auto brightness.....
But I agree that it would be better if the base brightness is higher.

font size

I'm rooted and desperately looking for a way to increase font size, especially for emails. is there a method and a means someone could recommend? The market font size changer apps are inadequate from what I've seen and tried. TIA.
This may be a little bit roundabout, but if you have ROM Toolbox you can install many different fonts. Some of them are quite a bit larger.

[Q] Best way to change global font size on stock?

Just had a good old internet search but couldn't find a definitive answer so I thought I'd ask the lovely people at xda. Hopefully someone will give me an answer before everyone gets pissy and this thread gets locked.
Anyway, slightly deceptive title as I'm using a ROM based on stock, so, not entirely stock (Chameleon 1.2). Just made a switch away from Cyanogenmod due to the fairly awful battery life I was getting, hopeful this fixes that somewhat. However, I'm already really missing being able to make the font smaller, to a point where I can't use this at all.
Is there a good AIO solution to this? Or am I gonna have to suck it up?

Hadn't though of this for some reason. Works quite well but I'm pretty happy with a dpi of 240 so if anyone else knows of a way I'd love to hear it

Cheers, I'll have a peek to see if I can find a smaller sized Roboto font and apply that :good:
I use font manager. It works at least to my liking.

Good stuff. The persistent notification is rather annoying though, but the font size seems to persist after killing the app, so I'll live.

Themer Beta

Has anyone tried to use the Themer Beta with the One Max? I thought I'd try it out, but the items on the screen are way to small to use at a standard DPI, and if I adjust it, the apps are no longer usable, as they get way too big. Any chance someone else figured out a way to use it?

Same here. When Themer first came out I use to have to mess with the DPI to get it to look right but over the past month or so I haven't had to do anything special and everything scales properly.

It may be a stock rom issue. Might try Viper out and see what I can do with it.

Screen resolution?

I'm not all that impressed by the stock resolution, need smaller icons and more room! ANyone else?
I've noticed a few screen issues. I think once more apps are converted to being able to make use of this resolution, things will get better over time.

No, I want t take advantage of the 2k screen, Honestly I cant even really tell the difference between stock form g3 and my S5.. the icons are huge and lots of space is wasted on the page indicator.

Totally. You can make eye charts with Nova's grid. I'm enjoying the size of the icons for now, but I figure I'll tighten things up eventually.

if you root you can change ro.sf.lcd_density in /system/build.prop to a lower number like 480 looks very nice. However the LG custom apps will not work.
You could change the LCD density, if you're root. That's what I did with my S4 to make things look smaller.
changed my DPI to 530 no issues and everything fits better. wanted to try going to 1080p to see if its a real diffrence, when why i tried everything looked too big and not as smooth

edit build prop. or use a dpi changer.. you need to root tho
Well
Be careful on the DPI settings. Gotta be root, and I used a DPI changer. It worked fine. Until I couldn't get my actual phone app or contacts to work. I got around this by getting an app, but I was still having issues. I thought it was because I went thru the system and deleted a bunch of apps, accidentally deleting something important. So I did a reset. And doing a reset doesn't fix the DPI settings back. After being an idiot for a few minutes, I learned it was because of the DPI settings. Changed them back and it fixed the issue. So I've just left it alone and went with Nova. I contribute some of that ignorance to alcohol.

I edited the build prop and rebooted and for some reason that didn't work for me so I grabbed Texdroider_DPI from the play store and set it to 530 and it worked.
Looks much better!

Did it not make your lock screen wallpapers look all screwy though? It zooms in on the wallpaper and makes a dark shadow on the top part for me. I couldn't find a way around it when lowering the dpi.
Interesting... as I'm reading these, I'm thinking... some of the lettering is somewhat blurry, or has a weird look to it... is that just the IPS or the fact that no one has adapted to 2k reso?
530 is great for me. No issues so far

Yeah, the wallpaper does zoom in, and the smart notice widget gets messed up. Could probably fix it if you could resize it.

I would use Nova anyway, so hopefully no issues with a resolution change.
