There seems to be a number of people raising certain hardware issue problems. I don't know about you, however I don't seem to have any issues at all here.

I have no issues at all. There is a minor amount of light bleed around the bottom edge (landscape with camera at top)but this is no issue as it only affects the nav bar, and is totally invisible when set to lowest brightness setting where I tend to use the tablet . I love this thing.
If I turn the brightness up full, I have the weeniest bit of light bleed on the bottom right corner but you have to look hard to see it.
Everything else is fine

Minor technicality.
Minor light bleed, non factor. Extremely pleased with this tab!
Minor light bleed in lower right like everyone else, which I wouldn't have noticed if not for reading the forums!
My LED is not working, our art last I can't make it work. Doesn't really bother me as in my previous tablet (a BlackBerry playbook) I turned out off anyway.

Nothing at all there could possibly be light bleed, but I have not dine a test, I am just using it and in terms if uses, there is nothing noticeable

So far as I'm concerned, hardware is anything physical, so to me the chassis falls under this. Hardware is physical components, software is well, software.

Alright I ordered another one due to some light bleed that is visible on almost all automatic brightness levels. I sure hope I don't get one that's worse. charging cable I got doesn't work either so that also pushed me to RMA it.
Sometimes when holding the Nexus 10 with one hand on either side, I frightening notice the side speakers slightly detach. I only noticed this three times before I promptly adjusted the way I hold it till I get a case with sufficient protection.

I haven't seen anyone else mention this anywhere, but the backlight makes a really annoying high-pitched whine whenever it's turned on, and the pitch/tone changes with brightness. From what I've read it could be a choke coil squealing but I didn't think something like this would have them large enough to make noise.

I maxed out my brightness and I couldn't hear a thing, however I did notice that my plasma makes a high pitched whine.
Multi touch all good here when using the app that was posted; tried several different touches to be sure.
Light bleed in the bottom right, pretty minor though. Everything else is solid & working though.
As for the back strip flexing, The clips that keep it secured are tiny, so it doesn't surprise me that that is an issue for some... makes me wonder how things will go once the covers that swap out the back strip are released...

I get this issue sometimes on my Galaxy Nexus when 3rd party camera apps or apps that use the light are in use. The camera on my n10 works okay at least.
I guess I got extremely lucky. Ordered the minute it first become available (Tuesday, delivered Friday) and zero issues.
No reboots, freezes, laggieness, light bleed, back flex, dust, etc..... nothing, everything has been great.
Not usually this lucky....so I am extremely pleased

just wondering if anyone else is also tolerating the unfortunate light bleeding around the bottom half of their phone and above the soft keys. is this an issue with most of the thunderbolts or did i just get a defective model?

I only see it when tilting the phone down at an awkward unusable angle. Don't see anything anytime i've been using the phone normally.

My phone has that too, but it really never gets in the way unless like said you're looking at your phone from an already unusable angle.
It's a problem with most thunderbolts and many phones/tablets in general (even the jesuspad isnt immune).
As already mentioned, I dont ever see it unless im intentionally trying to look for it (at an angle).
Have same issue at an extreme angle.
Have same issue only a problem at night. Daytime I don't notice a thing.

like stated in the link posted above, its from the illuminated capacitive buttons at the bottom and not the LCD panel itself.
On my first thunderbolt, i actually had the entire screen rotated by a few degrees and pretty bad bleed from the back lighting of the keys at the bottom. VW overnighted me a new phone and the new one still has the back light bleeding, but as others have said, only at extreme angles.
The screen isn't bleeding. It's just the lighting from the soft keys. I only notice it when I have the phone at a certain angle. No big deal.
This normally happens with any device that has backlight keys, soft or not. My Droid X did the same thing.
i work for verizon and every thunderbolt i've sold hasn't had nearly as much light bleeding as mine. it is a painful thing to sell models that surpass mine haha, getting a new one sent to me though, just hope it's not the same. blast this ocd
On the seperate one tick whether or not you have it. Personally I can spot mine in normal usage at some auto brightness levels. I know that a lot of this will fall under personal opinion, but I would like to hear what people think.
This thread is pretty pointless. The severity is going to be everyone's opinion. There is no set way to measure it without comparing all the devices. And taking pictures of the device is a bad way to measure it because light bleed is amplified horrendously on a camera. Personally, I don't think the light bleed on my N10 is bad at ALL, possibly because I'm somewhat used to it due to my monitor having it.

Perhaps, but I would like to see how bad people think their light bleed is. Personally I have compared it to several other of my devices (galaxy tab 2 7.0, ipad 2, galaxy player 5.0) and none of them have it this bad.
If I stare at the bottom right corner, on a completely black screen, with max brightness, I can notice slight bleed. Looking at the same corner under any other conditions and I can't make out any bleed lol.

Idk, this makes we want to send mine back and try for another, but I don't want to do that and get a worse one back. I can see mine at 100 percent brightness and if I stare at it I can pretty easily see it under normal conditions. My friend couldn't see it for like 20 minutes though, so maybe I am just crazy. With that said he can spot it pretty easily now.

If it's going to be a concern in the long run, I might suggest just returning it.
Currently, I have a multi-touch issue with my screen that doesn't seem to like when I use more then 3 fingers at random times. Although the chances of me using more then 3 fingers is... extremely rare; it does sort of bother me a bit lol. But then again, aside from that, and the very minor bleed I have, everything else seems fine... hmm

Ha ha, almost seems like a best of the worst sort of thing. If it doesn't have one issue it has another. Also the cable they sent me doesn't charge the tablet, I have to use the one that came with my sgs3.
Good to see that the majority has none. Just ordered a new unit. We shall see how this turns out.
My option is not there. Only visible on the start up screen and only when the auto brightness adjusts. They could probably just fix mine by disabling auto brightness on boot up and there would be no way I can see it. Lol

I'm not sure if mine really counts as light bleed. Since playing with it for a couple of hours I've only noticed two small spots on the very bottom about the width of my small finger. I need to have brightness set to about 60% and a completely dark background to really see it. During normal use with auto brightness on I don't notice it. Is it really possible to get zero light spots in all conditions with these screens?

That's still light bleed, but I can see mine all the time. It sounds minor.
So far not so good. 14 people don't have light bleed and 15 people do.
I ordered mine 5 minutes after they went on sale. No light bleed.
Well I called for an RMA. Before the csr put it through, I got assurance that should the replacement have worse problems that I could RMA the replacement and keep the original. My problem is a little annoying but I have no desire to go through 6 or more replacements to find that perfect device. Other than the dim strip this thing is flawless so I'd rather not risk warped backs, reboots, or a worse panel. Here's to hoping the one replacement is defect free.

Call Google and speak to TECH SUPPORT AND NOT CUSTOMER SUPPORT!
I complained about light bleed in my first one, and later came to find out that the idiot in CS put down that I was returning it due to remorse, which means I'd have to pay the restocking fee. Tech will put your return reason as defective or DOA so you don't get charged the fee.
No light bleed on mine. I was surprised since my last two Android tablets (transformer and toshiba excite 10) both had some light bleed noticeable on the black boot screen.

Worth bearing in mind that the numbers are skewed somewhat toward people who are concerned about this topic, with a good chance that they have a light bleed problem -- these are generally the folks who will open this thread and vote in the poll. If you could be confident that all XDA readers in the N10 forum would vote, the percentage would be scarier. Not sure how meaningful the stats will really be that are collected in this thread.
I've been suffering the dust issue on 2 lumias now, and have noticed something. If you go to a darkish room/area and tilt the phone, you can see the light from the backlight coming through on the sides of the screen and also at the top and bottom by the capacitive buttons.

I'm just wondering if there's anyone here who can go to a dark area, and see whether they all have this or not? Kinda worried me because made me think there's a manufacturing defect here and the screen isn't secured properly on the handset - which could maybe account for dust getting in? It might also explain the 'rattle' on vibrate that some are getting.
The three lumias I've seen all seem to have this to a certain extent (the light on the sides is usually much thinner and normally on either the right or the left - not both).
ANyone?

Funny enough, I had mine sent in for repairs due to scratches on the screen. After having the screen replaced I have NO light Issues and no more dust issues.
Seems during the initial build the screen is not fitted in or glued in properly ?

Oh christ....don't know what to do now. Could either wait until a new batch comes along without this issue or buy one now and send it off to Nokia. I'm rather depressed about the prospect of sending a brand new product away to be opened again

You must have been sent Elop's personal phone. I've looked at around 6...not that many admitedly, but all from different places so the maths of it all as coincidence is bleak.

no leaks here either... the only issue i have is the dust in the FFC.

How would you define the light leak, eg, if I look at the screen on a very extreme angle, I can see through a minute gap at the bottom and see light from those buttons through it through the screen, but in normal circumstances it isnt noticeable at all. like the light isnt uneven or anything like that

Well it's like in the picture link that I put on the first page - Except as well as the top and bottom, there's also a small amount on the sides too that can be made to partly disappear if you push down hard on the screen there - I.e. the impression the glue holding the screen down is loose. It appears on all the ones I've seen, but I don't know, if you guys say you haven't seem it maybe I've just had extraordinary bad luck! It doesn't affect the screen when looking at it normally but it makes me worry for the future - loose things tend to become looser with time, and my theory is this, the dust and the vibrate rattle are interconnected.
I'm looking at my 920 and I think I see what you mean. On the top I see the light across almost the whole top but not at the sides or bottom. Is really a concern (I don't look at the phone at an extreme angle like that..)

Oh ok sorry, I didn't look at the pic. The vibration rattle (from what I've read) is just how it is because of the kind of vibrator (for lack of a better word I can think of) technology. Would have been good to have a nice clean vibration humm being a flagship phone...
Nothing seems to change for me when I compress the screen. Perhaps you really did just get a bit of a dodgy one?
Me either. I just did it again to make certain I wasn't lying to you. I cannot see anything from any angle. Now I'm starting to feel a little guilty.
I'm on my second 920 because the first one had a problem with switching back to handset mode after unplugging a headphone jack, but neither of them have any light leak! Maybe it is a manufacturing defect because of rushed batches due to the supply problems?

NO light leak here either, but I have dust in the FFC.
No light leak, but there are dust under front camera and once in a while the proximity sensor activates all the time.
Let me start by saying that i bought this phone only 3 days ago and these are the problems I've found with it.
1. The Second screen back light issue. This is a common problem among many lg v10 users as i have noticed, and i have that same problem too. to the extreme left of the second display it is brighter than the rest but only when it is off. I do not find this very annoying since i do not use the second display for reading my notifications while it is off. i mostly use it when the screen is on
2. In addition to that, the power button/ fingerprint scanner combo is completely garbage, as in the actual clicking. the button seems loose and when i click it, it squeaks. Also, when i run my finger up and down the power button it wobbles and has the same annoying squeak.
3. The charging port is loose. Not so much that the cable could slide out not in that axis, but it moves side to side freely and up and down. this worries me because i think that if i put too much pressure on the cable the port could break somehow.
4. The steel bezels are nice and stuff but the gaps, are uneven at the bottom left, the metal bezel is like bent and you can easily see through it. also at the back when you pop in the cover it seems like it doesn't align with the bezel. but that might just be my ocd lol
This phone in my opinion is great the best phone I've had. but its just that these things are what let me down. This phone is great but they absolutely ruined it with the quality control. note* my batch is from January 15, 2016
U probably just got a bad one. Sometimes, they make it thru the quality control somehow. I would return it until u get the one ur satisfied with.

Yeah I think I should but I'll wait until the weekend and decide if I should change it.
Probably a good idea. The flaws won't change. I have the lightbleed on the 2nd screen, but I never notice unless it's absolutely pitch black where I am and the screen is off. It doesn't annoy me tho.

I like the phone, maybe I love it. I have the same problem with the residual light on the left of second screen. (phone batch 26 Oct.2015) But, what I dislike the most:
1. The lack of a LED on the front.
2. The second screen, about my opinion is useless until then a developer create an xposed apk for a flashing light on second screen when I loose a call.
3. The fingerprint sensor is useless too for me.
4. Volume of the speaker is not too loud.
But, I like the size and the shape of the phone. It is a catch eyes everywhere I go. Benchmarks are very good for a Snapdragon 808. The screen is very fluid. And the most, the camera and his software are great; you believe or not I compared in photoshop pictures from an expensive Sony semiprofessional DSLR camera with photos made with my V10 and the overall quality are quite the same. It's the best phone I ever had (and I had a lot of top level androids)

Okay so today I was wondering if I could find any more nit picky problems and noticed that the back cover did not sit flush with the buttons and that if I pushed it down it became flushnot a big issue but it bugs me when I'm turning up the volume or turning on the phone

Well I exchanged a week ago and now that the time limit to return it is over, it cracked, not from a drop. It just cracked by itself there is a small hair line crack right by the metal rail and if is so annoying I paid good money and I take care of my phones well even if this was made to be tough. It cracked while I was in the car waiting for someone and then out of no where I heard a little pop and I thought nothing about it but after I finished watching the video I noticed it and got so scared I was like"did I drop it" but I did not idk how it managed to break I haven't dropped my phone yet and it just cracked out of nowhere
I'm experiencing either a defect or an unfortunate feature on this tablet. I just took delivery of a new one, and while viewing any solid colors besides grey on the screen everything is fine (also no dead pixels), but I'm noticing what appears to be slight backlight flickering/pulsing whenever grey or light blue is shown on the screen. It seems to be PWM (pulse width modulation) of the leds, but I can't be certain it's a defect or just the unfortunate way these tablets' led screens are designed. It's a very subtle but consistent and annoying pulse, but it's definitely there. Can anyone confirm that PWM is what's going on with these tablets or if this is a defective screen. The screen doesn't pulse at all on any other colors solid or only partially filling the screen or otherwise.
I haven't noticed anything on mine, though I tend to keep the backlight fairly low (17%).
One thought though which is why I'm saying anything, I remember on the nexus 7 there was an issue with one of the friction pins not connecting to the back of the case's antenna fully sometimes, which would cause the radio/wifi to suck extra power resulting in backlight pulses... have you tried turning on airplane mode (disable the cellular) with wifi off to see if that makes a difference? Though it would be odd if it only affected the one colour... I suppose it could be your ambient light source too, does it do it in sunlight?

Good idea! Unfortunately, killing the antennas doesn't affect it. And there's no ambient light sensor on the g pad x, so that's out as well I'm so disappointed because there are not dead pixels and only very little light bleed in the corners too.
I didn't mean ambient light sensor would be the cause, more that perhaps you have bulb/s that cycle at a specific rate at a certain colour range that would cause a subtle flicker, I always found those big long roof fixture fluorescent tube lights bad for this sort of thing... I notice some "out of the corner of my eye" subtle flickering on my PC LCD when I have the one CFL on, but not when I have the other LED lamp going instead for example. I just tried a LCD screen tester with various solid colours (cyan, blue) and the only 'flickering' I'm seeing is if I actually move the screen, this panel has some waviness in it that is visible when the screen is off and you angle it just right under a light which seems to pop out on these blues with the backlight turned up - but only when the screen is physically moving. Definitely not a perfect panel, but for me nothing like what you are talking about.
I'm outta ideas though, unless you are running a custom firmware and it does something different than what my stock does.

edit:/ just read that RFD post from the other thread, and I definitely notice a flicker when in nova's app drawer. It seems to occur only right after I move the tablet and only noticeable at higher backlight settings, if I set it down flat and don't move it, it doesn't do it. Perhaps related to the gyro sensor? Something not isolated fully/properly would be my guess. With the wifi turned on, it also does it along with the activity up/down arrows on the logo... now that I've seen it I wonder if its going to bother me on lower brightness levels now :silly:

Thanks for checking. I tried the airplane mode setting, and I swear that fixed it. But then it came back after a few more toggles of data/wifi. Given that you're seeing it too and that others have reported seeing it as well in the RFD thread, I'm thinking it isn't a defect but rather poor design. There's little chance it would be this widespread and only on the exact same color combo for everyone. I think most people just never notice it since you're rarely just looking at a solid or mostly solid grey screen. I wonder if there's a way to disable the gyro on a stock/non-rooted gpad like mine? For me, it does it regardless of brightness level.
I've seen this on different devices too, so it's not just a G Pad X thing. I wanna say I've seen it on my Nexus 5 back in the day, but I've had many devices so it's hard to remember. But yep, noticed it happens on "grey" colors. It's much less noticeable with the brightness lowered. Never really bothered me so never posted about it.

My guess is it's the led pulse width modulation. It affects some screens more than others, but is an issue with led implementation on lcd screens in general. I'm leaning towards keeping the tablet as I'm 99% convinced that another unit would exhibit the exact same behavior. Glad to hear it isn't a defect, but sad that they did not manufacturer a better screen.

I don't want to clutter this thread any further, but I'm going into a B&M t-mo store to see if I can test this out on a display device to confirm how widespread this issue is.
Quick update on the flicker issue. It's a problem with all the units, or perhaps just poor design. I did a warranty exchange, and the replacement unit had the exact same issue. Oh well. Just time wasted I guess.
I have the same exact issue with the one i got my mom. Fortunately it doesn't bother her too much but it definitely seems to be a design flaw as we also returned it with the return unit having the same issue
Welcome to the world of flicker.
What you are seeing is very common and an unfortunate side effect of cheap reference designs and a don't care attitude.
There are many new standards for flicker but I doubt they'll be implemented. Flicker pwm needs to be in the 10khz range to be indistinguishable to constant current drives.
