If u don't read it in the development part of the forum don't do it. You will brick your device and nobody will care. Just read the forum and u will know what u can and can't do, simple as that. READ!

check the magic 8 ball.
Seriously???
that's really up to you - i went ahead and flashed the leaked official ATT ICS version and it's been working excellent. It does not have the Premium Suite but its got most everything else - and i also sideloaded the S-Note from the premium suite

If you can't understand what he said your better off waiting.

IMO, just wait and stay on GB with root. One thing I miss is stability and more RAM.
-Once you go NOTE, you'd say 4 inches a Joke
flash unofficial best there is...hands down!
Have you ever rooted before? Installed an alternate recovery like CWM? Flashed a ROM? Created a nandroid backup? Cleared caches? Formatted system or data? Used ADB? Used Titanium backup? Run non-stock launchers? Modified system files such as build.prop?
If not, search for everything I just listed, and start reading. None of it is really hard to do, but having a basic understanding of each of those moving pieces is going to be key to running a stable custom ROM.
Most custom roms have install instructions in the OP. If the basic steps there confuse you, then please don't rush anything and START READING!
Good luck!

I agree. The Unofficial 2.0b4 is a very stable, capable, and low-maintenance ROM to install and get your feet wet...
I just switched to the unofficial this weekend and have enjoying it quite a bit.

you can only install roms that are built for your specific device. Trying to install roms meant for other phones will likely break (aka "brick" ) your phone. So no, you cannot install the Galaxy Nexus ROMs on your Note
Luckily, our Note currently has several ICS options to pick from.
First, read up on how to install and use Clockworkmod Recovery (aka "CWM" ). Once again, only install the version that is mean for our i717 AT&T Note.
Then, as I said before, I recommend "The Unofficial v2.0 Beta4" as a stable first ICS rom. Go to its thread and start studying...

I flashed the tethering zip as well. No problems.
how'd you get into recovery? For some reason I think I read some people having problems rebooting to recovery from ROM manager. Just wondering.

I use collective tools, but you have to be running one of their roms. You can grab Quickboot from the market. ROM manager should probably not be used with the Note. I would uninstall it. You could always use the old fashioned method....power and volume up and down.

I used the same tether zip and working great. I am on the latest official leak. Stock ICS

You can actually download the collective power tool from the market:

Or hey, support FJ and throw him a buck for a really handy tool:

I had no idea. That's great news for all! Support FJ....he more than deserves it.

I reboot to recovery from Titanium backup.. never fails to go right into CWM.

[Q] different recoveries...

So from my little bit if reading through Samsung it seems that the only recovery everyone uses is cwm.. are there any other options like the 4ext? Or atleast cwm touch?

I was more or less asking if it was possible because I'm new to Samsung and all I see is Odin cwm in the Samsung forums. I'm coming from HTC so my knowledge is back to ubernoob when it cones to root. I know this phone is new, hell big red isn't even out yet so I wasn't like Wtf how come it isn't done yet.
Sent from my vivow using Tapatalk 2
I would wait a bit to install either of the cwm recoveries. Neither one work 100% yet. There are some issues with both.

Why no one click root for ATT Note?

Is there a reliable one click root for Galaxy Note (running stock ICS)?
There's a 3 or 4 click method. Is that too many?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using Tapatalk 2
I remember back in my infuse days, you'll launch the program, connect your phone and click the root button...super easy, that's not to say its not easy now.

I remember typing about 15 lines of complicated commands on a pc then opening an emulator on the phone and typing another batch of lines using the tiny keyboard. One typing error and you start all over (if lucky) or your phone was bricked.
Flashing a kernel is one click and the other clicks are just the warm up.

Every custom rom in the dev section is already rooted.
Edit: I didnt see the part about stock ICS sorry. I think your best bet would be to flash CWM and then install a stock rooted rom.
Going to have to agree with the flashing cwm. Its a 2 clicks and a file select on the computer. You can find everything in development here. Download it through phone to save some unwanted clicks.

As a complete aside, how do people manage this? I mean obviously blindly flashing anything that's a .zip, but do they find them on other forums or something? They always manage to find the correct xda forums to say "I not things good read," so obviously they can work the XDA forums, and I've never seen a Note 2 / international-1 ROM posted in these forums. So where are they failing at reading so miserably? I feel like XDA is set up to allow even an illiterate 4 year old not go wrong, so it must be randomly googling things, right?
Of course none of this applies to the OP. He's a great guy.
I made a mistake on flashing twrp for galaxy note 2 on my note 1...hahahaha that was so stupid of me...luckly this guy didnt hard brick his phone mine got hard bricked..cost me 40 but it was worth it rather then spending hundreds on a new one..READ CAREFULLY WHEN INSTALLING SOMETHING.. SPECIALLY A ZIP...read the zip aswell before installing...
