[RECOVERY][CM10, PA, CM10.1, AOSPA] TWRP 2.4.1.0 Touch Recovery [2013-02-04] - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Original Android Development

What is TWRP?
Team Win Recovery Project 2.4, or twrp2 for short, is a custom recovery built with ease of use and customization in mind. It’s a fully touch driven user interface – no more volume rocker or power buttons to mash. The GUI is also fully XML driven and completely theme-able. You can change just about every aspect of the look and feel. For more info click here: http://teamw.in/project/twrp2
This is a 100% stock CM10/CM10.1 Kernel with TWRP recovery added in place of the standard ClockworkMod Recovery. Nothing more, nothing less!
I will build these on a weekly basis or whenever a significant change is made to the CM or TWRP code

Known Issues
None!
CHANGELOG for 2.4.1.0:
-Fixed a problem with mkdosfs that formatted sdcards to 2GB
-Fixed handoff between vfat and exFAT on devices where blkid didn't detect vfat (fixes some issues with mounting sdcards)
-Fixed problems with changing working directory on MD5 creation/checking that may have prevented unmounting
-Backups will now store a copy of the backup log after the backup is completed (only if backup is successful)
CHANGELOG for 2.4.0.0:
-Using libtar instead of busybox's tar for better control over tar file creation and breaking the 2GB barrier that busybox imposes (thanks to bigbiff)
-Support for exFAT formatted sdcards (also thanks to bigbiff)
-Support for decrypting Samsung TouchWiz encrypted devices including internal and external storage (special thanks to a3955269 for figuring it out)
-Improvements to OpenRecoveryScript including displaying a proper GUI while the script is running
-Added wipe cache and dalvik after ADB Sideload
-Replaced many system calls with their native C counterparts
-Fixed bugs in file manager where it would display an empty list after moving or deleting a folder
-Fixed AOSP recovery commands to run after decryption on encrypted devices
-Improvements for building TWRP in CM10.1
-Other minor bugfixes and improvements
NOTE: 2.4.0.0 is, as always, still compatible with your older backups!

-Fix renaming backups with a space in the name
-Add decrypt button to mount page if you cancel decryption during startup
-Added ignore blkid flag
-Fixed handling of MTD partitions during mount
-Fixed some keyboard mapping issues on 800x1280 layout
CHANGELOG for 2.3.2.0:
-Fixes / enhancements to handle the multiple user setup introduced by Android 4.2 (see notes)
-Fixed a bug with deleting a backup with a space in the name
-Added highlights on keyboard key presses
CHANGELOG for 2.3.1.0:
-Unmount system after boot to prevent some status 7 symlink failed errors on zip install
-USB Mass Storage code improvements
-Better handling of mounting storage during boot for some devices
-Fixed a problem with sizes of images (boot & recovery) after resetting defaults
-Fixed size errors during backup for some devices on recovery, etc.
-Fixed a problem with restoring backups when multiple archives were present
CHANGELOG for 2.3.0.0:
-Rebased onto AOSP Jelly Bean source code
-Rewrote backup, restore, wipe, and mount code in C++ classes for easier maintenance going forward
NOTE: backups from prior versions of TWRP are still compatible with 2.3
-ADB sideload functionality from AOSP is included in 2.3, see this link for more info
-Re-wrote fix permissions entirely in C++ and runs in a few seconds instead of a few minutes (thanks to bigbiff)
-Improvements to zip finding in OpenRecoveryScript (should be a lot fewer GooManager automation issues)
-Faster boot times
-Added charging indicator while in recovery (only updates once every 60 seconds)
DOWNLOAD:
The fastest and easiest way to install TWRP is to use the GooManager app:
Play Store Link
Direct Download
1) Install GooManager from the Play Store
2) Open GooManager and provide root permissions
3) Hit Menu (or the button with the 3 dots on your screen) and then Install OpenRecovery
I do not currently have a Goo.im account but am in the process of applying. Builds will be uploaded to file sharing websites and links attached below until I have been approved for a goo.im account. Please feel free to mirror any of my kernels.
My build machine takes about an hour to build both kernels so assume that both TeamWin and CM repos were synced an hour before the quoted time.

CM10.1 (and AOSPA): CM10.1_TWRP_04Feb2013_1053.zip
How to install?
Download Kernel, reboot recovery, nandroid backup, flash kernel, ENJOY!!
BUGS:
If you have found a bug, please consider posting it to the TWRP github issues log or contacting the team on their IRC channel below. You can also post in the thread and I will offer whatever help I can and/or forward on concerns to the TWRP team.

A huge thanks to the CyanogenMod Team, Entropy512, XpLoDWilD and TeamWin

FAQ
I will add to this FAQ as time goes on but I have added a few questions below:
Can I have x patch added to the kernel? Can you add OC/UV etc.
Unfortunately this is currently beyond my level of skill and likely will be for the foreseeable future. I also do not want to be in the position of building multiple kernels one with OC and one without. If you want a change made to the kernel, speak to the CM team.
Will this work with Paranoid Android?
Yes, use the CM10 kernel for Utacka’s PA build. When AOSPA is released you should use the CM10.1 kernel.
Will this work with a Touchwiz Rom?
In short, no.
Can you build a Touchwiz Kernel with TWRP please?
Sorry but no again. There are just too many versions to build and I never use Touchwiz ROM’s so have little incentive.

GPL/How to build this kernel
This kernel was built using the instructions on this page http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=32965365.

Oops, i have updated and fixed links

Works fine for cm10.1 roms.
Selecting a folder instead of scrolling down is too easy though, but that isn't your fault.
Good job

You will need to flash CM10.1 first, then flash this kernel second. Flashing a CM nightly will replace this kernel with the CM stock kernel. You will need to reflash this kernel after flashing each nightly.

This thread is very quiet??
There was 100 downloads of the first first builds and 26 so far of the 23/01/13 builds but no real discussion.
Is there much interest in TWRP? Do people want me continue to build and upload?
I am not asking expecting praise etc. just suprised that the thread seems like a ghost town?

You characterized this recovery by "ease of use, customization, touch driven ui, themable, possibility of changing every aspect of L&F". And I think it's a fantastic piece of developer work.
N7000 is a "dangerous" device of the brick bug. With recovery you can make very bad mistakes also.
For my person I do not need the features above. I only want absolute safety and reliability when using recovery.
No "Schnick-Schnack", only the standard set of functions (backup, restore, format, update etc.).
That's why I wouldn't use (and especially never test) another recovery mechanism - with the CWM based approach I have already a working one.

Here is a link to my Github with kernel source. .
Please note that , unless it is in my Github, any other kernel that I release here is a simple port of the original creators work (Gokhanmoral or Entropy512). The ONLY changes I have made from their sources are the following changes made to /arch/arm/configs/(def_config_file);
Code:
[SIZE="6"]LOCALE==NAATT
SND_SOC_MC1N2_MIC_SWAP=N[/SIZE] (or Y for MicSwap kernels).
Any kernel I release will be completely safe from the "Brick Bug".

I would like to see the results of this and hear how it works out. I was about to start running CM9 but have not decided yet.
So did they "fix" the expanded homescreen wallpaper thing? Or is it still limited to the size of one portrait screen?
Running very well.

What's the best way to flash this without flashing the kernel? I already have LD3 installed and running the most recent Siyah which is likely compatible anyways.

Flash the rom then re-flash Siyah kernel immediately after.
Cool. I guess it could go without saying but I'll ask anyways. Does flashing this mandate a wipe or is it a no-wipe style CWM package?

Like I said it goes without saying and I agree. I did go ahead and finally just look at the update script in the package and it looks like it recursive deletes the system folder anyways.

Yea. That's the plan. I'll save it for when I have more time later on. I'm kinda curious if they fixed the gallery app to allow scrolling wallpaper and not just the fixed variety.

if that works i'll add it to the OP
The device listed when you click on the download link is the SPRINT version.
Is this perhaps the problem? Is there a different one for the Verizon build?
They're the same. That's why it says VZW/Sprint.

try factory reset again after flashing. i've heard that might be required.
First time installing a 4.2 based AOSP ROM to your Galaxy Note 2 LTE (CDMA), or coming from another ROM:
- Read known issues ans FAQs
- Flash the latest official ClockworkMod-Recovery
- Copy GApps and liquid ZIPs to your SDCard
- Boot into Recovery
- Flash liquid zip from SDCard
- Flash GApps zip from SDCard
- DO A DATA WIPE / FACTORY RESET (otherwise your device will be stuck at boot)
- Reboot
- Don't restore system data using Titanium Backup!
- Restoring Apps + Data might cause problems and is not recommended, avoid it if possible!

Silly question since all these days I have been flashing Rom and gapps and now planning to give this phone to my parents who don't know a thing about internet so just installing Rom without gapps phone will be functional correct me if I am wrong what issues I might face if gapps not installed. Than you for the great Rom faryaab.

Does this require the TOUCH version of CWM or will the normal CWM recovery work as well as longer as it is higher than version 6.0.3.2?
Flashed but I can't figure out how to change the options to show what options you can add from the pull down screen.
Is it possible to change/add/delete any of these options on this screen?

ohh? A new super nexus?!? interesting. anybody given it a go yet? I loved SuperNexus 2.0, got worried when there were no updates to 3.0.
google dialer would be a cool addition to supernexus.
I installed this, but it would not allow me to install anything. It would get stuck at installing when doing so from the Play Store.

Installed fine and it pulled down and restored all my apps. I also installed one or two apps from the play store no problem. Installed a few apps by manual apk install.

Hi. What was your CWM version when you were flashing this ROM?
I checked here http://www.clockworkmod.com/rommanager that the latest TOUCH version for i777 is 6.0.1.0
I was on cwm 6.0.4.4 standard and it worked fine. I did not have the touch version installed. After flashing it is 6.0.4.5 standard version installed.

you need to have the latest CWM recovery installed, usually people do this by just flashing the latest CM 10.2 nightly (that's what I do) lol. I have one sitting on my SD card most of the time. Afterwards, just reboot INTO recovery, do a complete wipe, then install the ROM =D
First of all thank you the awesome Rom, I had few issues.
1. Trying to shoot a video freezes the camera every time.
2. Charged fully and left it stand by and it drained to half in 2 hours just sitting in stand by and it almost 4 hours to fully charge from 20%.
3. For some reason I have a home and home3 launcher and I set home as default and when I restart it switches to home3 launcher and even the listing in settings has moved up/down.
4. Animations are too slow.

I don't have CM 10.2 nightly but I have SuperNexus-3.0-i777-BUILD1
Do you know what the CWM version of this ROM is?
If it is higher than 6.0.3.2, I will try to flash it first before I flash SN 4.0
Currently I'm on SN 2.0

It comes from my hobby to building rom that is actually for private use and then some users found it on my goo.im. Due to some suggestions from them (rkoby13 is one of them ), I decided to create this thread to share my builds with you.
This build is compiled using SaberMod toolchain and like the official one, it is built from the same source: Slimroms github.
I could cherry-pick some commits ahead from Slimbean team or patches from other repositories that I find useful.
The ROM and the kernel are tested by me first before I make it available online. I could have overseen something during testing, please be understand.
In summary, it is still Slimbean that is compiled with SaberMod toolchain. [...]

Coming from 4.1.x or 4.2.x or 4.3.x or another ROM to 4.4.x:
Flash a kitkat compatible CWM from here.
Reboot to recovery. Not to the system!

Mount system and format system partition manually.
Flash the unofficial build.
Flash gapps from here.
**slim_mini only; add other desired google apps from the playstore.
Coming from previous unofficial build:
Wipe cache and dalvik cache.
Flash the unofficial build.
No need to re-flash gapps. Gapps will be restored back automatically by backup tool during flashing.
Known Issues

Apps that are moved to sdcard won't appear on reboot.
Swapping internal and external sdcard is not working.
USB mass storage is not working.
Music player stops playing music from sdcard after some time. See here.

========================================
I, Cyril, am not a developer or maintainer of any sort
These are UNOFFICIAL builds, this device is no longer supported by the Slim-team.
The goal is to provide yet another Android 4.4 option for the SGH-i777.
I plan to build as time permits; no sooner than weeklies, and I'll be sure to capture stable releases.
Massive thanks to the @SteveMurphy, @razen_kain, @RenderBroken, @creepyncrawly, @4-2ndtwin, @nimper (and all of the i777 community) for the continued encouragement and support.
Speaking of community support, if the builds develop issues I will need your help finding and ironing out solutions. The biggest tip will be to see whether it's affecting the i9100 or n7000, and what they're doing about it.
If the builds start crashing, well that may be the end of SlimKat on the i777.
Please stop by the [url="http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s2/development-derivatives/rom-slimsaber-i9100-t2350201/post43247085]i9100 SlimSaber thread[/url] and show @fusionjack some thanks.
Happy Flashing
-Cyril
It's a beautiful thing having people who can bring these roms to an old device, many many thanks, sir!
I must say, I am proud of these recent achievements, and I'm very glad to be able to give BACK to the community that brought me along.
I'm just clearing a year here on xda, and as a first-time smart-phone owner, I never thought that I'd be this involved. I just wanted to get rid of the AT&T bloat, and joined because I had a few questions. Now I've got a github account, and am pushing commits, and forking projects!
I won't get too far ahead of myself, I'm still no dev, I don't know the language, and I really don't plan to go that far (although I said that once before). I owe a lot to the fact that the i9100 is SO similar.

good job cyril...:good:
btw, i think you need to maintain the slimcenter ota by yourself since i don't have influence of your update frequency.
basically, you need to change:
the download url of changelog: https://github.com/SlimSaber/packages_apps_SlimCenter/blob/kk4.4/res/values/strings.xml#L74
the ota file: https://github.com/SlimSaber/packages_apps_SlimCenter/blob/kk4.4/res/values/strings.xml#L82
use the ota xml file from the url mentioned above as a template and you need to host this file to your hosting choice which support direct/hot linking. i use wuala file hosting for now...
in this file, you can supply the download folder of the rom.
every time you release a new build, you need to adjust the rom file name (the date part) so that all users get notification if there is a new update.
concerning moving apps: there is a new feature that enables moving apps to external volume. this feature is still disabled for our device. as result, moving app is impossible for now. i'll try to enable it tonight...:fingers-crossed:
concerning scripts: in case you didn't know yet, i have some scripts that you can use to build a rom, generate changelog and send a rom to your device. see here: https://github.com/SlimSaber/scripts
I would echo Cyril's comments... I have an S2, and couldn't stand the AT&T version of JB. Too much crap in there...and having had a gTab before and being well-versed in getting it rooted and custom ROM's on it, I just thought it was natural to come find "this" community. Now, I have a 3-4 year old phone that runs like a champ on the cutting-edge Android...what's not to like about that?
Cyril, I've been fascinated to watch/read your journey through this, and appreciate your tenacity.
And since I'm thanking folks, thanks to SteveMurphy and razen_kain, the former for timely updates to the Res, and the latter for just answering lots of stupid questions patiently.
Excellent work with this rom, everything running great so far keep up with the great work!

Is it possible to flash Renders CWM kernel on this rom? I'm trying it out now but my backups are in CWM, not TWRP. Also I don't think GPS is working on this rom. I tried using Waze and it keeps telling me NO GPS available.
I haven't tried Renders' CWM with this firmware, but I expect that it should work just fine.
If the concern is accessing your CWM backups, nandroid manager is also an option. It can see everything inside CWM or TWRP backups, no matter which is currently installed.

Thanks for pointing me to that app. I'm assuming can you restore an entire nandroid backup from that app no matter what recovery is installed. I don't really care about extracting apps from the backups. I want to do a complete nandoid recovery.

If you're only looking to restore a complete nandroid, I would suggest something more like your original plan:
reboot to recovery > install RB_cwm_kernel > reboot to recovery > restore cwm backup.
I'm not a fan of relying on apps and their scripts to restore complete nandroids.
It's a great app for managing nandroids, thanks to @razen_kain for pointing it out to me.

@cyril279 does this mean that your development/maintenance of SlimKat weeklies is on pause or has ended? Just want to know if we should switch over to SlimSaber instead of waiting on further development of the SlimKat.
Btw... Tried SlimSaber pretty nifty  but some features I prefer from SlimKat so I'm back to SlimKat for now...
Keep up the good work though :good:
I've been getting some really great battery life AND performance on this ROM for a couple days. Battery keeps getting better and there has not been one single hiccup since the first boot. Running stock kernel BTW. Thanks for this Cyril! I can really tell a difference with the saber mod tool chain. Probably going to dd this one for a while. Tried to talk the wife into it but she's a resurrection remix girl now
I will definitely continue building SlimKat weekly.
Just not this next week. Not for either firmware.
I would like to know, more specifically, what you prefer about slimkat.

Thinking about it now it's only 2 things i can remember that sent me back to SlimKat for now.
1. I didn't find the option for me to select which home option I'd like to choose (Simple issue yes I know)
2. I wasn't getting any other account to sync after google accounts were added.
I think there might have been something else, but I'd have to flash again to see what it was.

"home option"?
I'm not clear on what home options you're looking for.
I'm not aware of any functional difference in-between the two firmwares, only SMDK4210 specific optimizations, but I could be wrong.
settings > device [Home] > {choose launcher}?
-or maybe -
settings > advanced settings [Navigation} > Hardware Buttons > Home Key {options}?
Regarding account sync issues, the only time I had problems was the result of dirty-flashing.
Either way, whether OG Slim, or Super-charged Slim, you can't go wrong!

Superuser must be flashed as the recovery script is still intact. Fashing SU in the same session will prevent the recovery being overwritten.
If /system is mounted in recovery, you may get an error flashing the gapps package. Just unmount the /system partition and flash gapps again.
1.) Perform factory reset
2.) Flash ROM, GAPPS, and latest SuperSU
3.) Reboot
4.) Profit

What is PRL/Profile, exactly? Is it the User Switcher Quick Settings tile? Or the dialer profile?
Edit: I'm stupid. Nevermind.

Yep. Its only 163 because gapps are not included (since it is source built and not based on the factory image like other ROMs posted). So be sure to flash the gapps linked. Any will do, but I prefer the PA version as it is most up to date.
Let me know what you think. Aside from what is listed as not working, it is fully functioning.

Cool. Let me know if all is good on GSM side too. Calls, mms, sms.. the usual stuff. Went in to this blind but I assume if it works for me on Sprint it would work on the GSM side too.

Yep! OG Evo it was. Made Unchained on that years ago based on CM 7. Last time I did any sort of development for a device. Wow that was a long time ago lol.
I get this after flashing the ROM:
E:Error executing updater binary in zip '/sdcard/aosp_hammerhead-ota-eng.actofgod.zip'
Error flashing zip '/sdcard/aosp_hammerhead-ota-eng.actofgod.zip'
Not sure what happened :T
Welcome the.emilio. glad to see old evo folk around the hammerhead forums

Guessing TWRP and you had wiped the system partition. If you wipe system it mounts that partition. Restart back in to recovery and flash again or go back to the main recovery screen, select mounts and unmount system then flash again :good: I will put in a command to unmount system before flashing in the script so this error can be avoided.

I also noticed that it doesn't sync your apps. I have to download them all over again.

To confirm, unmounting system fixed it? Or did you reboot back to recovery and flashed again?
In regards to the app, yeah I noticed that too. Typically, it auto downloads everything when you run the same ROM. Any future updates to the same ROM will still save the info, so when you wipe and flash to the same ROM but an updated version, it will automatically restore. In this case, it is a brand new ROM and a start over is basically all that can be done. Once you've set everything up it should automatically restore on any subsequent build I put out. Best thing I can suggest in the future is titanium backup so you can restore app and app data. :good:
It is also one way to tell who is using the same base.
