[Q] Galaxy SII won't boot up! - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Help! My Galaxy S2 isn't working anymore! I decided to replace stock recovery with Clockworkmod recovery 6.0.2.7. The process went well but on the reboot there was a yellow triangle and then it doesn't do anything. I'm able to go into the Clockworkmod recovery though. What do I do to go back into booting my phone normally? I was running the leaked version of jelly bean (4.1.2) on the international version of the Galaxy S2. Please help!!
Whenever I try to boot up normally the Galaxy S2 logo will pop up, followed by the sound of the phone booting up (Samsung sound) but no display. Seriously, what can I do to fix this as I am really worried. I've heard that my phone isn't bricked because I can access recovery but please, what do I have to do to make my phone accessible again?

Relax, and flash stock rom.

If you're referring to the version of jelly bean I got, yes. However, I want ICS and I am confused at the minute on how to get back to stock. In Clockworkmod recovery I did a backup to my internal SD card and then did a wipe of data and of my cache. Could you give me the perfect stock rom thing to get back to ICS, as if it was out of the box?

How bad a situation am I in? Is my phone bricked? When I flash a stock rom will I still have CWM or will it be gone?

Also, can you tell me, if you know, what I did wrong in the first place? This seemed like a simple procedure...

Wait, let me read the OP again.
And don't bump the thread, edit like I'm about to.
Here's a thougt, why not focus on get your device up and runing insted of trying to get ICS?
1) wipe dalvik & factory reset your device (recovery)
2) didn't work? flash lsd or ls8 (single tar file in pda) in odin.
3) should be up and running, search for an ICS ROMs thread and flash ICS.
what happened? maybe a bootloop.

Compilation names, ls8 was released on FOP (spain unbranded), lsd came out 10 days after for nordic countries and italy.
Check Sammobile.com or search for "i9100 sammobile starts rolling jelly bean"

Cheers mate! Think I've sorted it! Gonna flash lsd tomorrow after the dentist Not going anywhere near clockworkmod recovery again!
I'll come back here if I have any issues. Hopefully I won't, I've flashed lsj before successfully! Thanks alot!
Btw, would you recommend lsd or ls8? Are there any differences. I know that lsj did not have pop out video player but had pretty much everything else that's available for 4.1 jelly bean.

remove the batt from ur phone wait for 5~10 minutes then replace the batt and switch ON ur phone and see it will do the trick some times
From recovery do data cache wipe.
Or
From recovery if cwm, format data system cache, dalvik and flash stock ROM using Odin.
You can download stock Indian ROM if that what you want.
Just remove the Sim and micro sdcard, before flashing ROM. I found it has issues with ics and csc if I don't on i9100
Thanks for response....I would like to have stock rom for G version of SG2 could you please help me with the links....Though as of now I have got phone running with Divine Rom but its having its restrictions which I'm not happy with.

Search Samfirmware or use the PC version of Checkfus to get the latest stock rom for your phone model/country/carrier you'd normally get via OTA update.
Thanks

Thanks mate you saved my day ''Samsung service center sucks here in India'' didn't want go there.....Downloaded firmware from Samfire and then flashed through oden and here I am back to what I had on my phone....could you also advise good ROMS for I9100G and Thanks a ton once again
No probs. Glad you got it sorted
As I don't have an I9100G, I don't know. Questions around "What's the best or a good rom for I9100<whatever>" tend to be frowned upon on here, so I'll leave that up to other people.
Generally it's best to try some roms out for yourself & see what works best for you, but make doubly sure any rom you do try is for the I9100G as you risk bricking your phone if you flash a rom for the I9100 or any other variant on your phone.

Yes, but any recovery will do for factory-reset. (There are others than CWM)
ok let me see if I got the instructions correct
download the fw from sammobile, the stock one
flash through odin
if stuck on samsung screen, access to recovery (missing how)
wipe data

to boot into recovery, whatever recovery it is either stock or CWM.
turn off the phone ( if it does not turn off by on/off button, just pull the battery and leave it out for 5 seconds),
press and hold with this order: volume up+ home button+ on/off(power button) and keep pressing until the logo. release power button and keep pressing the other buttons.
wipe data + cache + dalvik cache. reboot

well we downgrade in order to go back to LG8 and install a new OTA, even though we are using OTA's if we have (i.e) LI5 we cannot update to LI9 unless we're on LG8 which is the base, also for warranty purposes hehehe

How can I find out what version it is?

[Q] Is my EFS folder corrupted?

Hi everyone,
I’m new to this forum and not an expert in android but i really need your help so i’ll try to make this post the best i can. Last week I bought a galaxy s2 unlocked but unfortunately it was rooted and with a leaked rom of android 4.0.3 (XXLPH), I wanted to return it to stock so I followed this tutorial (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1650919) and also did this (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=22669088#post22669088) because my lockscreen wasn’t working. But now I am having some troubles:
-Sometimes (today was the third time this week) I lose service and mi imei doesn’t appear when I type *#06#, also it says base band “unknown” in settings but it’s strange because if I remove the battery and put it back again everything works fine again. Does this have to do with my EFS folder? Is there a way to check if it’s corrupted?
-When I connect it to the pc and open kies, it says:
“Your device’s current firmware version is not supported to update firmware via Kies.
Current firmware version: PDA:LPZ / PHONE:LPH /CSC:LP5 (XXX)”
I thought it was the csc but I checked using *#272*IMEI# and it says “Sales Code: ARO” which I think it’s correct because I’m in Argentina, I also used a code to check the PCode (not this one *2767*4387264636# because it didn’t work, I can’t remember which one) and it said “PCode: NOT ACTIVE” do you think that’s the problem?
Also in settings my serial number shows “00000000” I don’t know if this is related but I’m trying to give you all the information I can.
Sorry if my English is not the best but I speak Spanish, I’m trying to do my best. Any help will be really appreciated!

Easy now.....
First off, you're up for some reading.
1- Brick bug.
2- Flashing (Odin / Mobile Odin).
3- Rooting.
4- EFS Folder.
Once you've done all that you can look for any of these Stock ROMs here.
When you are all done reading and you still wanna flash your device, let us know.
Saludos.

you can start by checking if you got the brick bug, since you are on 4.0.4, with got brickbug app.
If you have an insane chip, flash siyah kernel via odin / mobile odin.
What ROM you wanna flash?
Download hc ktool from store, so you can back up EFS folder.
Sent from the little guy
Ok, so I installed the emmc brickbug app and it says I have an insane chip.
Now I have to root it like this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1501719 so I can backup my EFS folder with hc ktool, is this correct? I don’t want to do anything stupid.
Should I also check the memory blocks with the brick bug app?
I would like to flash this rom
I9100UHLPS
Base Firmware: I9100UHLPS (4.0.3)
Region: South America
Country Argentina
Carrier: Unbranded
Build Date: 12 June 2012
Modem: UHLPG
CSC: AROLP4

Is it necessary to flash siyah kernel? I would like it to be 100% stock.
You have to flash siyah in order to avoid the brick bug.
Once you flash it you'll be off the hook and flash anything you want.
Don't you wanna try official jelly bean? Don't worry about you being in argentina, it'll work just fine.
You could flash siyah via mobile odin, no brick risk involved.
Sent from the little guy
Ok but what should i do first?
root and backup efs? or just flash siyah?
I don't know how to flash siyah with odin, can I do it with cmw recovery?
Sorry for all these questions but I'm really scared

Siyah will get you rooted, then you can go backing things up, like EFS.
Watch some youtube vids first, just type i9100 siyah.
After that, get back here and read a thing or two about flashing and stuff at the Q&A section and the guides posted above.
One more thing, enter *#06# in the dialer and see if the imei number matches the imei number below the battery.
Sent from the little guy
Yes, I entered *#06# and the imei number is the same as the one on the back of the battery.
All right I just flashed siyah kernel and did a backup of my EFS folder with hc kTool.
The brickbug check app keeps telling me I have an insane chip, is that ok?
A yellow triangle now appears when I turn on the phone, I guess I'll have to use the triangleaway app am I correct?
What's next?

[SOLVED][Q] Help need for new S2

Hi, I have given my wife my old white S2 after deciding to get a black one for myself (from Amazon UK). I had managed to root it and put on an aokp 4.2.2 rom (aokp_i9100_jb-mr1_build6 )which works great although I can't remember which site I used for the instructions. So I get my new black one and start thinking about doing the same...
I thought it would be a good idea to update it to latest stock version to start with but OTA update says my phone is up to date.
KIES finds new firmware but it hangs at 100% complete and goes nowhere.
Here are some numbers:-
Version 4.0.4
Baseband Version i900 BULP8
Build No. IMM76D.BULPG
This BULP8 version looks a bit odd.
I would appreciate some advice on how to proceed...is this a "funny" version?
Here's hoping, alfie

To Root you device, flash one of these Custom Kernels: CF-Root (the best) - PhilZ - SpeedMod
To install AOKP 4.2.2 ROM: Flash Omega v12 or Android Open Kang Project or JellyBAM
To install AOSP 4.2.2 ROM: Flash CyanogenMod 10.1
And don't forget to hit the thanks button
Also....while you're running 4.0.4, DO NOT wipe data, cache or dalvik....
Search "emmc brickbug" for why....
Sent from my Rooted, De bloated Stock JB powered S2 via PhilZ kernel and Tapatalk 2....
Yeah, you csn run gotbrick bug from playstore to check your chip. If it's sane you're good, if it's not I advice you to flash a safe kernel (siyah v5).
And then you'll be good to go for flashing CM and s#!t.
Also, stick to xda, not other sites.

At least if I can go back to stock ROM which is 4.1.2 at least Please help
Thanks allot for your respond. No I am not able to go into the recovery unfortunately. only can go into download mood
What do you want help with? Flashing with Odin? First go to Sammobile.com and get 4.1.2 firmware from there. I'll give you a link for flashing with Odin if you can't find a good one.

This link is for the S3 but flashing with Odin is the same as with the s2. I link you to this as its a good guide but do remember that's it's for the S3 so don't be silly and flash i9300 firmware on you're i9100. Hope you understand if not tell me and i'll delete the link. Read it and understand what you need to do before you flash with Odin.
Reading is easy, fixing is not. :screwy:

GT-I9100 United Kingdom (Vodafone) 2014 January 4.1.2 I9100XWMS2 I9100VODLSF kies
at the end was Kies icon
Pick a carrier free one.
But i can't see the option of choosing carrier

If you're planning on rooting and installing a custom ROM again you may as well just go with the Vodaphone one then go from there. I do have a copy of the unbranded one (can't remember where from) so it is out there if you really need it, only downloaded it last week.
I rooted using Philz kernel, if you search XDA for that you will find the info on how to do it and it seemed the easiest way to go...
