How many people like The HTC one - Sprint HTC EVO 4G LTE

I'm curiously wondering how many of you xda a developers users, actually like the new HTC One? Personally I like the design, features such as the stereo speakers that are on the front and the new design of the back. I don't really know how I would like sense 5 considering sense 4 on Viper ROM 3.1 .0 is actually really really good so give me your thoughts
Sent from my EVO using xda app-developers app

I like the back. Not a big fan of the speakers but I bet they do sound good. Nice specs but if Sprint gets it and changes it like they did the One X then it'll make me disappointed I just got this one.

I like it. I'd get one if it wasn't for the change in the captive buttons. Whoever thought of that idea needs to be smacked upside the head.

I have to agree with the statements about the design on the rear, but i seriously hate the movement of the capacitive buttons. that killed me. Also, the new sense 5 better not look like it did in the photos, i will not buy a sense device that mimics windows phone.

Personally, and i probably will get flamed by this, but if they leave it that way, im going to the Samsung side.

I like the hardware but I really hate the new sense. I'll pass it and see what improvement htc gonna make in the next device plus I have to wait my upgrade in Mar 2014
EVO 4G LTE HB 2.09 S-OFF

My wife isn't big on phones, as long as she can talk, text, and use the internet she's fine, she has her upgrade now so I'll be getting it and giving her my evo and if I don't like it I'll just switch back and give her the "one", and she has my og evo so I'll send that to htc for $100
If the one stays the same with the other carriers I'm looking forward to see how the development will go.

i like the htc one. i wouldnt mind getting it but im satisfied with my ltevo
i do like the "ultrapixel" camera tho. would be cool to have it and brag about it lol

I usually preorder my phones so I can have it on release day but this time I will wait to see if multitasking is back. If HTC disables this core function of Android again I will be going with another manufacture. Its ridiculous that if I am looking at a web page then check a text message then go back to the browser the page has to reload. I find this very infuriating, especially with all the power this phone is packing. Sense 5 doesn't look promising with the live tiles. Judging from the last couple of sense versions this release will be throw together also and won't be able to handle this new feature without studdering and serious lag.

It's ok... The best thing is the speakers... All phones speakers should face you... It just makes sense. But other that I don't see anything special about compared to the new up coming phones. By the time up ready for a upgrade at the end of the year there will be some very good phones on the market.

So are the windows essentially just widgets u could add to the screen?

I'm really drawn to the hd screen, extra ram, and extra storage. I also really love HTC's camera software.
The one drawback is the apparent lack of mSD expansion. As a systems engineer, I carry enough gear with me, so I often use my phone at job sites, carrying suites of software tools, ISOs, etc. That's in addition to the usual books, music, etc. So not having more than 64gb of storage that doesn't rely on the cloud will be a PitA (all too often, I'm in reception blackholes).
I know it'll come in 32 and 64gb flavors, but I really hate paying the premium for higher storage capacity consumption devices/phones.
If the Evo flavor ever does come to fruition, I have to hope that it comes with a microSD slot. Further, if it is released, I'll hold off getting one. I'm pretty happy with the 4g LTE and the price will drop in like 3 months anyway.

I'm in the same boat as you, I like having expandable storage. I can't always rely on cloud services. It's actually quite a debate. Some people like to flame others for wanting an sd card slot. I don't get it. Since I use my phone for work, mp3 player, and camera, the more storage I can get the better. I don't always have data and life is too busy too constantly swap what I have in my storage.

I tend to agree with many of the points raised here. Lack of external storage is rough, as is losing the kickstand. Also, while the new camera has better low light, i think 4MP is too low to allow for cropping. I'd have preferred a camera as good as Lumia 920.

64? You wont consider a nexus without 64gb... what do you need all that space for? Im wondering because i only use a couple gigs. I have a lot of pictures and some music that take up 90% of the couple gigs i use, i mostly stream my music and all my movies. pictures/videos dont take up much space unless you take pictures and video of everything, and you can always link a box/dropbox account to auto upload the stuff and then delete it from your sd/device. I know games take up some space but idk how much. I work too much and have a family so i dont play anything.

I think this will be my last one. I have had the original evo, evo 3D, and now the lte and have nothing but hardware issues. Mainly with digitizers. But the main reason is the slow updates of operating systems. My next phone will be a Samsung.
I defnately will for one simple reason. If you look at the quality is of my HTC evo 4g and at a phone just coming out ala nexus 4....the evo benchmarks better out the box and that's with sense. My performance is still on par with phones being released 5 months after I bought it. That's pretty good.

You guys are making me stare at my device and question it. Why why why.
As to the question about why someone would need so much storage, for me, nandroid backups are the biggest user of space.
Nexus' are great, and I'm really tiring of HTC bs bootloader shenanigans, but love the look and build quality. I don't like sense, though (though much better than TW) so I use AOKP/CM/PA, etc.

Samsung GS3 LCD/Digitizer shattered. Thinking about a DNA.

So I had my GS3 for about 3 months before it experienced a 2 foot drop shattering not just the digitizer but the LCD as well. The phone was a good phone, I originally had an Incredible, moved up to the Rezound (which I loved) and then the GS3. What I have learned about Samsung is that the build quality isn't as solid as HTC's (from my experiences). I was thinking about going back to HTC with the DNA.
I just wanted some input from people who own the phone and what their thoughts are about it. Practicality, Functionality, BATTERY LIFE (very important to me) and etc.
Any comments, concerns or suggestion would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you in advance

For all intensive purposes the battery life is the same, if not slightly better than the s3.
And functionality and practicality is determined by you, we can't answer it for you.

Battery life, for me, is leaps and bounds above my s3. I NEVER got 5 hours of screen time on the s3.
Please don't touch my "Thanks" button, it doesn't like you...
Hmm. I am surprised to hear that about the battery life. I haven't read too much about the development of the DNA, is there the whole S-On or S-Off thing that the Rez had? haha
Do you guys notice a difference with the Quad core setup? GS3's dual was very quick and responsive.
Our phone is s on for the time being unless you want to send it to someone and have it opened up. But it really doesn't matter. Only things it changes is that we can't change the splash screen and radios and we have to use an app to flash kernels, besides that it is fine.
And it isn't any smoother per say, but i have seen the s3 get laggy every once in a while, that doesn't happen on the DNA. And apps definitely open faster on the DNA. And very intensive games run better.

I have the S3 and DNA and the battery life is virtually identical for me. Get about 4 hours screen time on both and about 15 hours with a full charge. I have the quad core S3 (international version) and the difference in performance is noticeable. On my S3 (which has 1gb of Ram) I would get lots of redraws on the home screen. Sure custom Rom's/kernels helped but did not totally resolve them. On the DNA I see no redraws or lag. Overall I enjoy the experience of the DNA more than I do my S3 so unless I am going on a long trip, my S3 stays in my desk drawer.
thank you guys for the replies. My main concern is S-Off, I know on the rezzy it made a huge difference (way easier to flash kernels/roms and etc.) Hopefully it isn't as complicated here with S-On. And I'm glad to hear about the battery life. I will most probably be purchasing one soon.
Definitely going to invest in good case.
***EDIT
only thing I am concerned about is not having an SD card slot. -__-
With s on you flash roms like any other phone, and kernels you use an app called flash image gui to flash the boot.img then you just flash the modules in recovery.

Lol if battery life is a concern you are definitely looking at the wrong phone. If anyone tells you different they are in denial. Htc, along with every reviewer on the net about the Dna have all acknowledged the poor performance of the battery.
If you are looking for the best phone out, the note 2 absolutely destroys the DNA. The only thing the dna has over the note 2 is screen resolution.... on paper lol. The note 2 screen is amazing. Honestly just grab one and take a look. Add in the amazing software ( split screen, pop up browser, pop up note and pop up movie player that can all be on the screen at the same time), spen, redonkulous battery life, sd card slot, ability to replace battery and amazing support and you have greatest phone on the market. Lol its funny that your phone seems to be the anomaly. Everyone, including HTC THEMSELVES, have acknowledged the poor battery performance. Just look at the size of your battery vs. The amount of pixels the dna is pushing. Do the math man there is reason everyone ( except for a few in denial dna owners) has pointed to the battery peeformance. Living in denial my friend. If you like your dna, kudos to you. Enjoy carrying that phone charger around all day.
If the only bad thing you can say about the note 2 is the size thats a personal thing. Im 5 11 and this phone fits in my hand and pocket beautifully. Umm....no. are you serious? Look at the polls around net of touchwiz vs. Sense vs. stock. Most people prefer stock, then touchwiz and lastly sense. One of the biggest drawbacks of sense is the recent app drawer. Its beyond puzzling. Why would take up entire screen to see recent apps, including cutting away the app drawer, pull down menu and home screen? Very inefficient.

HTC One revealed

http://www.theverge.com/2013/2/19/4003728/htc-one-launch-announcement
What do you guys think?
I think it could very well be the end HTC as a major player in the smartphone business if they dont market it right. It lacks a removable battery and expandable storage, something its competitors offer on their high end phones. It has some nice features but if it gets terrible battery life or doesnt perform well against the competition due to Sense 5 I do believe HTC is in trouble. Will have to wait until some reviews start coming in and I get to play with one first hand.

The sad thing is all they had to do was listen to what consumers wanted. Release a phone with at least a 3000mah battery especially if its non-removable. 16Gb, 32Gb, and 64Gb versions WITH SD card slot. Make HTC Sense optional as in a skin overlay or theme that can be turned off with just AOSP Android running underneath so updates can come quick.

I don't own one, and never will, but much of the software games that HTC plays do not seem much different than Samsung, just a different flavor of sour. So all Android compatible manufacturers being roughly evil in my estimation on that playing field, I'll take the phone with the hardware that lasts and doesn't feel like cheap plastic junk in my hand.

Deciding what phone to get

I'm thinking about changing phones I'm on T-Mobile with my amaze no longer under contract. I was looking at what they have to offer and had 4 thoughts. I'm looking for input.
1. Get the iPhone 5 and sell it to make a profit and keep using my amaze
2. Get the HTC one the processor isn't much faster than the amaze and the camera isn't as good and it also lacks SD card slot
3 get the nexus 4 16gb looks pretty nice quad core processor and is aosp but still lacks an SD card slot
4 keep my amaze and wait till it craps out.
What do you guys think? And I checked out the HTC one forums and saw sports on there so I personally ask you sports how's the HTC one

It depends. The one is a good option because it will probably be popular enough to attract development. Plus there's a 64GB option. And the Camera is actually pretty good. And I think it has LTE. Have you considered a GSIV

Just went through this. New HTC one is very fast, don't let mhz ratings fool you. Go use the phones until the sales guy kicks you out.
I tried new htc one. Old htc one, nexus 4 and LG Optimus g cousin, s3 and note 2. All much faster than amaze. All great phones.
In the end because I didn't want to lock into contract, nexus 4 and LG Optimus g were hundreds less than the rest. Went with Optimus for LTE. Arrives this week.
Hoping when s4 is finally on display in my area I don't regret it. Based on reviews like trusted tech heads at arstecnica the new LG Optimus g pro phablet is the benchmark king. Out shortly if you like the size.
Keeping my amaze as my ORD phone.

Go with the ONE. Hands down, the best phone I've ever had. I got the chance to play around with the s4..wife has the note2. It's a good device but nothing like the one. S4 was choppy and laggy, the other stuff is just rusty bells and whistles. My ONE chews up everything I throw at it...no lag. I watched a few videos on it here and there but today I watched Zero Dark Thirty and was blown away. I'm keeping this [email protected]!

Before picking up any phone I would make sure to check out what bugs people are noticing in the forums. Things like how the amaze capacitor lights bleed etc.
No regrets on not waiting for s4. Tried one out for an hour yesterday. Great phone. Just not hundreds of dollars greater than others I looked at. Happy I went with unlocked lg.

I've been using a HTC One for the past couple days and it's really fast. The front speakers sound clear and pictures are all right. The phone has no grip though so you might want to pick up a case on Amazon. The profiting from an iPhone sounds like too much work for not enough money. The Amaze is still quick for most things so unless you hate it I think you should keep it.
Go with the HTC one. It's great and development is amazing! Battery is also awesome. I get 4hrs screen on time! Sense 5 is also very fast and minimalistic making it an aosp like Rom that just tons of extra features!
I upgraded from my amaze.
You can also use the HTC logo as a Menu button so you won't lose screen realestate from an on screen menu button.

Switching to the HTC One (or any smaller phone)

I've been slowly making the switch from my Verizon Note 2 to the HTC One on T-Mobile and I've quickly learned a few things.
1. That initial realization that the Note just can't be compared to any other standard sizes phone. There is no way I could say either the One or the Note is better just because they were designed for two completely different ways of use. But the only thing I'm going to miss from Samsung is the multi-window feature. I'll live without the pen.
2. Removable storage. there was something really convenient about being able to swap SD cards depending on my day. I have a music card and a video card that I would switch out if I was going to work or just vegging on the couch while beaming videos to the tv.
I've seen many times people talking about switching phones and almost immediately coming back to the Note, but there's a more specific switch I had to make in my daily routine to make me not want to come running back. I mean, the One is in no way a small phone, but when set next to the Note, it looks like a 4.3 inch phone. That's where I'm having to make the switch. The fact the my phone needs to be a phone is where the One becomes a better fit for me.
TLDR Peace yall. I'm moving to the HTC One.

You'll be back. No worries, we'll welcome you as soon as you figure out just how productive that massive screen is.
No, it's not a perfect phone. However I've adapted a few minor things in my life to accommodate the Note 2, and I am all the more productive for it.

Yeah, HTC, and Verizon did such a good job keeping the rezound, and the thunderbolt up to date. I hope that this works out for you. I will say that Ihave htc phones, and this one, and the signal isn't that much better. Plus I have never had this phone go into bacon mode like my 6 rezounds.
Today, young ,men on acid realize that all matter is merely energy condensed to a slow vibration, we are all one consciences sharing itself subjectively, there is no such thing as death, life is only a dream, and we are just imaginations of ourselves And now to the weather.....

Sounded like he was being sarcastic. The rezound took forever to be updated to ics. I had it months before Verizon updated it. I sold the phone before it got that update. Lol I love HTC but the Note owns the One in real world use. But to each their own

I left Verizon in April this year and made that stupid decision to try tmobile again. In fact I too had the HTC one. I loved the phone, so smooth. I just couldn't live with spotty coverage and no signal at my office. I came back to Verizon this month and have the note 2. Everyone tells me that I sound so much clearer and louder than how I sounded on the HTC one. Plus my husband HATED when I was on blue tooth with the HTC one, he said it sounded like I was talking behind a grinder or a blender with rocks in it. Not the case with the note2, very clear. Plus the final straw was not receiving text messages and missing dozens of calls even with a signal. You will be back to Verizon, trust me it's worth every penny!

Two things, both personal opinions:
1. HTC sucks
2. Tmob sucks more than HTC.
The HTC one actually performs very well, just not sure if every HTC one is plagued with poor sound quality with calls. Since I got the note 2 I can't see how I survived with anything smaller. Great screen, love the multi-task feature and the s pen. And yes, t-mobile does suck.
