Nabi 2 roms - Fuhu Nabi 2

Ive been reading about porting roms quite a bit recently and tried to bring cm10 over to the nabi by grabbing the nexus 7 release. Ive gotten it to the point that it will actually loop the cm10 boot screen but with my very little knowledge on the programing side I am officially lost...any one wanna take a look at the logcat and see if we can push this any further?

Do you have the logcat? Did you isolate the proprietary files in lib for example?

So how far did we get ?

I'm not sure. I'm quite interested.

I am having problems getting adb to recognize the nabi for a logcat right now...Ill get this figured out tomorrow.

Anyone got any ideas...The nabi stopped showing up in adb...I have the nabi drivers installed but do I need to find some generic ones for it now that its on CM10?

Bad logcat bin? or ADB not starting? I have had this issue when error happens very early in boot process.

Adb wont notice the device because my device manager has it set as a usb composite device and won't let me update the drivers to anything android

Is that the MTP interface or the ADB? What is device manager fronting? i.e. right click properties, details, set property to hard ID. what does it say? VID_XXXX&PID_XXXX or VID_XXXX&PID_XXXX&MI_01 for example.

Did you get any further with this, byohaserd? I'm interested in working on it; can you share what you've done on github or somewhere?

there may be something wrong in the kernel. Did you build using kernel source?

Has anyone spoken to this person? Or, did they drop off the face of the earth?

If it was built with source it's from Nexus 7. This thread was created long before there was kernel source and even though this is basically a nvidia Kai device there are a few drivers(charger is one I think comes to mind) that are different. Fuhu has since released "something". http://www.nabitablet.com/support/source-code
However if you browse the kernel source they have left out so much that you can't making a working kernel. Maybe it's changed since last I downloaded it but I don't think so.

Whats the issue?
Is the issue recovery fstab version 2? You have in BoardConfig.mk RECOVERY_FSTAB_VERSION := 2 but your recovery.fstab is version 1. I don't know if what is on your github is what you are currently building though.

ICS port out and around for Nexus S

Anyone read anything about this yet? I've seen tid bits of info on it. And I don't think it's the SDK release that someone was talking about building a port off of before. But I'm not totally sure, just curious if anyone else has info. As this could be a hint to what is needed for us to get the ball rolling.
ive seen some articles. not sure if it was built from sdk tho
Yep it's built from SDK that was released on the android sdk website. I did a google search and found that out.

If its built from the SDK, you would be lucky or incredibly determined to even get the phone/data to work in most cases.
Ah. Okay. Didn't know it was buolt iff the SDK. Thought there was an actual legit base. Nevermind then.

Well, we can still possible do a port to the photon off of it, and do a system pull of our system, patch the data connection part, and this would have to be done by a developer.

SG2 with boot to gecko...No android on it!

What the Devs say about this? Do it have a chance to be better than Android?
"This year’s CTIA Wireless conference in New Orleans is surprisingly short on major new smartphones. But at last night’s MobileFocus press event, I happened across a fascinating, one-of-a-kind handset which I hadn’t seen in person yet: Mozilla’s alpha version of a phone running Boot to Gecko, its project to turn the web technologies behind Firefox into a stand-alone mobile operating system."

Flasholics?
Honestly I don't have any details about that OS.
Thats a pre Alpha...
For sure another "player" to this market will be a good thing. More updates, more releases, more everything.
Funny thing on that picture is that it is an International sg2 but there is an AT&T logo there. Check the pic.
That's most likely the carrier its being used with, which is perfectly normal considering the tech site is probably located in the US.
I think its a neat different Idea... Do I think it will go anywhere like android and ios? Not really (would be cool if it did).
I would flash it, but only when its ready for our phone. I would love to at least try it. Who knows it could be the next best thing since the cheese wheel!

There is a flashable zip somewhere in the original thread in the i9100 forums. I'm using it, I just don't get to use it because I have to build something which I can't do...
i777 with B2G
Boot2Gecko uses a different kernel from Android, still Linux, but with many different things compiled into it. If you go to the page with the i9100 image, you'll see a .tar.md5 image, which is really just a TAR image with some extra. You can untar it and get out the boot.img, which is the kernel. You can then use ODIN to flash the image, and if it is inoperable you can use Heimdall to flash the boot.img directly as the kernel. I stopped quickly with this because my i777 only partially worked with no radio on the last try, and it became unusable quickly. It was also getting extremely hot near the top of the unit, so I went and flashed back the AOKP image I had been using previously.
My attempts to build from scratch have been unpleasant to say the least, and it seems the Nexus is on the list of hardware along with the i9100, but the i777 and i9100g and others are not on the roadmap yet.
For those who want to know what this is, it's a Linux kernel that boots into a special version of Firefox, and then uses web documents and web standards to do everything. All of the OS is coded in HTML5/JS/CSS and has new JS implemented for controlling and using the phone's hardware. The "apps" are websites that are accessed remotely and then cached so that they do not have to be updated until the remote version changes, so the OS can upgrade extremely rapidly.
I'm looking forward to seeing this remove some of the mess made by the manufacturers and providers, and to see some much needed user control brought back into the system.
Big question since i'm brazillian, WHY BRAZIL?

That requires either a CM guy to have our phone and decide to develop for it, or one of our amazing dev's to port it. Since we just got the ability to unlock the bootloader, It'll take a little while for things to ramp up. Baby steps.

How hard can it be to port CM?? I ask because I am considering attempting to do this over thanksgiving... I never ported CM before and I don't have much of an understanding of the Android Source code... But I can get my way around basic source code editing, if I have a lot of help... So, if someone can tell me how to start porting this thing, I may attempt to do so over thanksgiving.. but don't get your hopes up, I am just a novice dude here...

dmeadows013 said something about a build being available but not quite sure if he was being serious or not. Anyway, I have a plan cooking up. I will download source and try to compile it, but fair warning I am a total newb to aosp deving and it may take forever, or never, to make a working AOSP build. I'm getting myself a new laptop which should help me build this thing. So far I put it off as my primary machine is tied up doing my regular work and with this spare laptop, I can do the hell I want while doing my regular work. Multitasking at its best!
Also, I really want to get some pointers on how to setup the build for a new device. I know that if all we are trying to do is build for a device that is already supported, then you already have the necessary files to compile it for that device. But, what I don't know is how to set up the build environment for a new device. Someone with some know how will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I will say, I've been very pleased with the UI. Love the gesture driven approach that Ubuntu Touch has taken. As a webOS enthusiast I've been looking for something to succeed that as a passion. Ubuntu Touch remains very intriguing to me. My eventual plan is to switch over to UT as a daily driver... Meantime, I'm learning a lot and that's never a bad thing.
Hmm... I wish the RIL would work on the Galaxy S III (Snapdragon). As it is, we can't even get a kernel that kernel that will run an app for more than 15 or 20 seconds before it crashes. Still lots of work to be done I guess. Maybe I'll just go buy a N4 from T-Mobile.
