HTC Desire 4G LTE (ADR6410LRA) appears in the wild - Verizon HTC Droid Incredible 4G LTE

Hi together, i just noticed that the "non-verizon branded" Version of our ADR6410 seems to be available in the wild (-> on ebay.com) ... that seems to still have the identical specs as the verizon version and NOT the down-spec'ed like that "desire vc".
appologies for just snapping the pics from an ebay-offer, but it's just to show it to you for reference! HTC logo instead of our "verizon-mark". no idea about roms or unlocks for that modified ADR6410-LRA (from my side) of course. :fingers-crossed:
according to the seller:
As you see - the unit is a "6410LRA". The "LRA" stands for "LTE Across Rural America." This was ORIGINALLY a Verizon product but it was passed on to smaller regional carriers. This unit WILL NOT, NOT, NOT, NOT work on the Verizon (or Sprint) Network - NOT! You WILL need a SIM Card from one of the Regional networks to use this phone (SIM Card NOT Included) and even then we make NO guarantees of this phone being able to work on any Carrier. There are some carriers this MIGHT work on but we don't know which ones. When a Unit is Powered Up NO Carrier logo comes on the screen.

i'm just not sure if the unluck (root etc) would work the same way. alas, not much to worry about it for myself ... since i already have my Dinc4G and here in Europe you can't buy them (regularily anyhow). was just wondering ^^

very disappointed with this phone

HTC has been disappointing me HARD as of late..
Not sure if switching back over was the right move, Samsung was great, except when they locked the s4 bootloader and there is $5,000 bounty not being claimed yet, so i doubt itll come, id rather dump this if no S-OFF and get the s4 dev edition..

I have one of these, and purchased it at an independent cell company here in east KY. So far it seems to be a good phone. Signal is good, and has all the specs I need for my use. Battery life is excellent I've been one of AT&T's faithful since the Cingular days back in the early 90's. However, just to be blunt, AT&T coverage has dropped by at least 50% over the past 5 years - hence my reason to take a stab at App Wireless App Wireless is locally owned, and actually is the oldest provider in this area. The only issue is they are somewhat higher in rates, and initial cost is higher. With that being said......
I'd love to make the switch. I still have a few months under contract with AT&T, but would be willing to pay the ETF fee. Even though App Wireless is higher in pricing, the coverage more than makes up for it. I'd much rather pay $70 for 95% coverage as to pay $50 for 50% coverage
I really need to get this thing rooted Basically just to install programs on an ext4. It surprised me as to the programs that will install to the external SD card automatically, but there are just those few that won't. Searching the forums I can't find a definitive answer on this phone. I have found where its been done on the Verizon branded, and the HTC Desire VC, plus... even the HTC Droid Incredible 4G LTE.
I've searched this and other forums - is there ANYWHERE posted that this phone has successfully been rooted?

Just wanted to let everyone know that I decided to be a "rabbit", and take a chance on my new HTC Desire 4G LTE - at least that's what the independent carrier calls it. It is similar to the HTC Desire VC they offer, but the specs are closer to the HTC Droid Incredible 4g LTE.
Anyway, whenever I plugged it into a program of sorts, it recognized it as the HTC Droid Incredible 4G LTE. The big difference being the Hinc is a model from Verizon, ADR6410VZW. Mine is a ADR6410LTA.
All of the other specs are identical with the exception of the CID. The Verizon is a VZW__001 that mosts posts say to SuperCID it to 11111111 to root, but the ADR6410LRA is a UTSI_005. Therefore a lot of the steps are not needed.
As of right now, my bootloader is unlocked, and the phone is rooted, and everything is working fine. I also installed TWRP. So....for those that have the LRA version instead of the Verizon, everything here applies and will work fine.
Thought this may help a few.

[Q] A few questions on the Atrix

Just wanting to know a few things:
1. Do all apps support the "Move to media" option in manage apps, or is it similar to the stock FroYo Move to SD?
2. If I got one I would get it from Mobicity in Brisbane (Google mobicity atrix) would the option under colour saying no physical branding be a Bell Atrix? I have heard they are harder to hack etc. Would it be better knowing I'm getting an AT&T by getting their branding on the phone?
Thanks (Sorry I can't post links, I would, but I'm only new)

I can only answer #1 for ya. No, only certain apps will allow moving to media area (built in /sdcard)
But in reality, I have what I consider a ton of apps installed and still have nearly a gb of phone storage remaining so it's just about a moot point..
Thanks. That's a bit of a let down, but still good. I've got a desire with about 20 apps installed and 15mb free, so anything more than that is awesome!

You won't need to worry about space on the Atrix. At last count I have a total of 452 apps, a couple of gigs of music, pictures, and videos on my internal sdcard, and still have over 5GB of free space.
This isn't the AT&T Atrix which is the MB860.
http://www.mobicity.com.au/motorola-atrix.html
This is the ME860. I believe that's from the Chinese/Asian market.
The following link shows this model as having Android 2.2.1 Chinese as embedded operating system.

According to the Mobicity website, the one I'm looking at is the ME860, but I don't know if that means that if I go the AT&T branding means that I get the MB860. The only advantage I can see from getting the ME860 is the quad-band 3G (I live in Australia so there is one carrier using 850/2100mHz and the rest use 900/2100mHz Dual band 3G), so if I want to change carriers this could be useful.
I might contact Mobicity to find out if the AT&T branding means MB860 and if the ME860 has any Chinese language on it.
So I checked with Mobicity and they said that the website had errors. They are actually selling the MB860 with either AT&T branding or no branding. I asked which rom they ran on each and the AT&T branded one runs the same rom AT&T uses, where the unbranded one uses Moto's stock rom. If they are both the same price which would be better? I don't care about the AT&T logo because it's fairly easy to remove.
I've also seen some people using the AT&T Atrix have "AT&T Atrix" as the carrier when using it with another carrier. Would this occur if I got the AT&T branding?
If you plan on using it with telstra, then you'll have no problems with reception on the AT&T atrix as they use the 3G 850 mhz band. However, if you plan on using vodafone/optus then you won't get 3g in the country/rural areas as they use the 900mhz band. It'd probably be good for you to check the 3g coverage maps if you plan on going with optus/vodafone on the AT&T atrix.
I went against going with mobicity as nobody I talked to had any idea what version of the atrix they're selling. Originally they were selling just the AT&T version but since the telstra version came out they updated their site and were telling me that ALL their versions were quadband, including the AT&T branded one. They were also charging $20 extra for the AT&T version for a while.
I ended up ordering it from gsmnation a few days ago as it was cheaper and I know what I'll be getting. I'm going to be using optus but the AT&T version has better developer support so I figured that was a better incentive rather than rare occasion that I'll actually go visiting a rural area. I was using a tri-band iphone 3g for 3 years before this anyway.
So if you want better support from developers, probably faster updates and you aren't worried about the fact that it doesn't support optus/vodafone in the country then I'd go with the AT&T atrix.
According to them they don't sell the quad-band version (http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies.cfm?t=1564501&p=58#r1144), but that doesn't bother me, as I'm looked into Telstra for another 15 months or so. That means the only thing I'm worried about are updates (which as you mentioned the AT&T one would get more and faster) and the support for custom roms down the track (Gingerblur supports this already). So looks like I will go with the AT&T if I get one.
Well luckily I didn't buy it from mobicity then. The person I spoke to said that the atrix was now quadband, even their website showed the same until you alerted them about it. So yeah, I guess that makes the decision a lot easier for you.

Lucky indeed! I have heard that Telstra is selling a quad-band version, although it's hardly selling, more like ripping off at $840 or $59 a month.
Have you got your Atrix? I've heard some people using the AT&T Atrix with another provider get "AT&T Atrix" as the carrier up the top left corner of the screen. Just wondering if this is true or not....
Since Mobicity says ME860 on their website, and they tell you themselves this is wrong and they are selling the MB860, I would definitely verify all the information on any phone you purchase first in :

Will do! Although it doesn't really bother me as I won't be using the added 900mHz frequency anyway. But still, better to get what you ask for!
So if I got the AT&T branded one would app sideloading be disabled, as it it using AT&T's rom? If it is, then how easy is it to enable?

[Q] Differences in AT&T model and unlocked/unbranded?

Hi all,
I've decided to bite the bullet and switch carriers just so I can upgrade from my HD7 to the Titan. Keep in mind I will be unlocking the phone for use on Telus in Canada which is compatible with AT&T 3G.
However I am trying to figure out if there is any benefit to getting the AT&T variant over the unlocked, unbranded model.
I see that on the box for the AT&T model it shows 4G compatible which is cool. So I would assume that using it on Telus would also give me 4G speeds. On the specs for the unlocked model it only shows 3G so I'm wondering if that's not entirely true. I also read somewhere HTC may have included Beats technology in the AT&T version but I doubt it since I haven't heard anything else about that.
I think I'd prefer an unbranded model over the AT&T one but also wondering if anything comes bundled as well that might make one better over the other. Also are the hardware specs identical?
Any help on this would be great
should be no difference or
the only difference is it would be sim locked for their network only the unlocked will work on either telus or at&t without trouble, you could work on sim unlocking the at&t version and that might be a little troublesome, I could be wrong but telus and at&t are promoting FAUX G which is still using 3g with increased speed boost if I am getting this right, hspa+
so the hardware is the same with some minor cosmetic differences (carrier branding vs none) the os and ui with msft strict requirements will be pretty much the same and you could easily uninstall carrier bundled apps, since you do live in canada I would just get the unlocked euro one, you will and I do notice that it switches from H to 3G and then E for Edge every now and then, but if you know how to do it get the at&t version and sim unlock it
Well the unlocked unbranded version uses 3G on 850/900/2100 MHz. AT&T uses 850/1900 MHz. It appears to me that I'm getting HSPA on my Titan, but not HSPA+, but I haven't really tested it very much. You'll have to check what Telus uses for HSPA+ to check if that will work.
Holding down the Windows/Start button brings up the Microsoft Tellme voice activated stuff. It works fine, but the lady has a British accent. This isn't a big deal.
The charger that ships with the unlocked version is the British Standards 1363 plug. Mine also had a BS 1363 to NEMA 5 adapter (aka UK to US), but it was separate from the box, so I think the company I purchased from, eXpansys, threw that in for free. Of course it includes a micro USB charging cable, so any computer USB port or USB wall charger would work, even if you can't use the included charger.
and you know what too with that womans british accent i think the phone is programmed to understand english with an accent, my voice to text experience has been less than stellar lately and my british accent is terrible LOL
Thanks everyone for the info!!
However I'm curious as to which model will give me HSPA+... If anyone can confirm that I'd appreciate it
it dont matter IMO, it's so fast already i love it

Get the ATT version. The unlocked Euro version will not connect to the same 3G bands. As for 4G don't get your hopes up there is no real 4G yet. Until a standard is set any one can say it has 4g if it. 000001 MB over the Max 3g connection.
Well I took my chances and just bought the ATT version off a seller on eBay. We made the deal for $630US incl. shipping. I don't know what the phone sell for off contract but it's the cheapest one I could find that wasn't already open or used. He also sent in a request for an unlock code for it so I'm hoping we'll be able to get one.
I remember the horror when I couldn't get an unlock code for my HD7 and had to wait a week before the codes were available.
Anyway.. it's being sent by UPS so should have it by Weds next week Now I hope it's not a lemon or I'm screwed!!

My dead-end problem.
mine come from UK, and yes, the lady inside the phone almost never recognize my English Voice Pattern, even the simplest: IMDB.
It is funny when i am foreign, i was studying British English at home and now only Americans can understand me. LMAO.
I mean, my HD7 T-Mobile almost never have trouble in using the voice to open stuffs, but my UK Titan is a pain in the ass.
By the way, i would recommend double check everything because my turn-by-turn Navigation of Bing maps doesn't work at US for UK version. If you are really need Turn-by-Turn, i would recommend the AT&T version because it is designed for US Road, maybe Canada too. But we also have other alter maps like Nokia Maps is coming out, or navigon... blah.
If not, the Sim-Free Quad-band Unlocked Titan from Europe is also sweet. I can hit home anytime and use any sim without paying $30-$45 for an unlock code and worry about 3G Frequency since it is the world phone.

That is true. I have this problem and no solutions exists yet. "Display language" in the Settings has "English" with no US/UK selection. It is UK effectively. Bing Maps will therefore have no voice guidance, and speech accessibility (announcing caller name, etc.) don't work, and you need to have a British accent for it to understand you.
I guess we'll have to wait for an AT&T ROM to flash on our devices.
this is true! i just realized my bing maps doesn't work either, it shows my location and will tell me where something is in relation to it but it cannot give me directions, thank god for the turn by turn navigation app which i use frequently, bing maps cannot provide me directions, and it would be great if my voice to text would work as well, yes we will have to wait for some cooked roms to come our way,

my thing is and I don't know if any other us euro titan owners are experiencing this, but i have a great rate and unlimited data plan with at&t because my device is not recognized in their system, if I were to install and at&t rom in the future , would ma bell immediately see my titan and slap a capped data plan on my account?

Starting today, they will probably recognize your phone... lol
Doesn't matter which ROM it runs, they can see it as "HTC Titan" and apply any restrictions they wish.
From the ATT site on the Titan specs: *4G speeds delivered by HSPA+ with enhanced backhaul.
Also, ATT sells the Titan new for $549.99 without contract and free shipping.

I was in a mall today with 2 outlets for the AT&T Titan: the Microsoft Store and an AT&T store.
I entered the IMEI for both shops' floor models into htcimeiunlock.com, and for both of them the site claimed to have the codes immediately available, for $25. I've had good luck with that site in the past so I believe that at least for the first batch of Titans the codes are readily available for $25 or so.
Contrast that with AT&T, who probably won't have or give the codes for months, if ever.

what codes are you referring to? the $25 app cards? everyone is going to get them, i don't see why at&t would take time on this, this is sanctioned by msft, all you have to do is go on the msft's own side enter your imei proof of purchase and voila you get a $25 app card mailed to you i believe
and also at&t is a great network! they 10x better coverage than tmobile, i've had horrible experiences with tmobile letting me down, you can have the bestest shiniest most advanced phone out there and but its a useless paperweight if your carrier lets you down
"Codes" == SIM unlock codes (thought that was obvious from my mention of "htcimeiunlock.com").
Good luck getting them from AT&T any time in the next few months, even for a phone purchased at unsubsidized price.
Not a big deal for some folks, but some of us like to travel abroad with our phones and use them with local SIM cards, which makes unlocking critical. Fortunately, there's a non-AT&T source for the codes for HTC devices... you're SOL if you want to travel with a Samsung Mango phone!

[Q] Motorola Photon unlocked for *domestic* carriers?

Okay, so here's the deal. I Bought this Photon in March, unlocked the bootloader, got CM7.2 running on it, set up the dock so it works with an external HD and runs shows and movies on my TV. Then, last month Sprint up and cancelled my phone with no warning. I'm on Verizon now with the Droid X2, which I noticed is startlingly similar to the Photon. I already know the Photon can be unlocked for international use, but how would I convince it that it's now a Verizon phone? I've got a couple really simple "You can't do it" with no explanation, but I've seen them for sale on ebay claiming to be usable on Verizon domestic, and in this thread - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1664212 - which I cannot post on, there are a couple posts towards the end saying that a couple people managed to get theirs up and running on Verizon, albeit with a few bugs.
Now, I'm not expecting miracles, but these two phones are so alike it's not even funny. I don't care about 4G, need 4G, or even *want* 4G access. If flashing my phone somehow irrepairably damages 4G, I really could care less. They're both CDMA/EVDO networks, so there's *got* to be a way to make this work. I know that's an oversimplification, but it's basically true.
As a side note, since the two phones are so similar, is there a way to use the sbf file (it's like, ten meg) that unlocked my Photon to unlock my X2? *edit* Tried it, didn't work. Oh well, worth a shot.

Just read into it, the Tmo/ATT versions, according to another XDA post do not work on VZW.
Ah, if only the S4 had root. If this keeps happening, I definitely need to find another phone for VZW that's been unlocked/rooted.

This might worked for me when I was having issues with my SIM. Take the SIM and and use an eraser to lightly rub off the wax that's on the metal part of the SIM. I did that and have had no issues since. Hope that helps. Also, those work work because they're specifically gsm models. U need the one directly from HTC to get it to work on Verizon.

I ended up putting tape on the back of the sim to make it thicker. Almost taped it down, but that could cause problems. I just hate to keep removing my otterbox to replace the sim, it's getting loose because of it. Tempted to just go into VZW and make a big deal with the fact that I went through 3 of them even though I didn't and get them to give me the S4. Not sure if it would ever work. And either way, I'd have to wait until the S4 gains root.

FYI the S4 has root/unlocked bootloader. However the release of said exploit has been delayed until Verizon's S4 has had a chance to get out to customers to allow everyone a chance to utilize the exploit before it gets packed much like the scenario we (DNA owners) are experiencing.

Hmm. I wonder if any of them will become fully locked or if our devs will always find an unlock eventually.

Any of the Galaxy s4? They will be fully unlocked (for a short time at minimum) and unless the carriers locked them down they should stay that way. Or do you mean the DNA become fully unlocked?
I do (have done for nearly 10 years) Microsoft .NET development, but have little experience with Android development. However based upon what I've heard it at this time it seems unlikely that there will be an unlock (outside of JTAG/Riffbox based) at all. I don't mean to be pessimistic but it looks like quite a challenge that the devs are facing. Being a DNA owner I hope that I am mistaken as I quite dislike not having root

Hmm, what on earth is with the carriers locking them down? It's not like they ACTUALLY lose anything by having them unlocked.
As for the HTC One on VZW. I checked with HTC. The only bands that don't match up are the 3G bands. Then again, does VZW even have GSM bands for 2g? I just compared the bands to the DNA.

VZW uses a different LTE band than T-Mobile or AT&T. Also VZW doesn't use any GSM they are a CDMA carrier. This is why when connected to 3G you can't make use data while making a voice call (CDMA limitation). When connected to 3G your normally connected EVDO (i think) for data and CDMA for voice. The bands differ when falling back to 2g/1g but they are still CDMA.
Generally the reason (supposedly) the carrier locks the bootloader etc down is that it increases the ability/likelihood that a user will brick or otherwise damage the phone. This generates increased costs for the carrier with warranty work/returns. Also there is the potential there for a user to load something that has malicious code on their phone which could possibly cause damage to the carriers network etc.
If you really want an unlocked phone and don't mind paying the full price developer versions of most phones are available. They are fully unlocked, and for example you can get a dev HTC one with 64gb memory for 650$. However it is not compatible with VZW if I remember correctly.

Hmm, yea, the only band that matches up is LTE, otherwise it's GSM. Meeh. It doesn't seem like there are many dev phones available for VZW. May as well just JTAG if I end up swapping out. No clue what I want to do at this point. All I know is I can't switch providers and that the apps I use for work require root since I work with network monitoring.

I'm going to get either an s4 or a s4 Mega depending on the features it brings. HTC one has too small screen size. Haven't ordered JTAG because almost everyone I see that has had that done has at least a broken tab on the case from prying it open/close. That kind of stuff bugs me to no end, and I'm going crazy without root access. So my time with the DNA is probably going to end in the next month or so.

If I did it, I'd have to buy the S4 outright, then sell my DNA. I'd pay quite a difference, unless I can convince VZW in store to trade my 6 month old DNA out for an S4. Might be worth a shot, or just straight humiliating...what do you think? How are you going to do it?

I'll buy the s4 outright for the 650 or so. Then sell the DNA on craigslist or swappa and hopefully get around 400$. If your at the 6 month mark your not getting them to trade it out. Your other option is to look for someone selling an s4 on craigslist that can't afford it or needs the money.

No matter how we do it, it's a lot of money. Worse to worse. Buy S4, play with it, hate it, resell it.

[Q] Sim phones on sprint ? (please read in full)

Hello my sis recently purchased an sprint iPhone 5s about a week ago from eBay it arrived with no Sim and I didn't think that was a problem as sprint is CDMA well trying to activate it was a different story talked to sprint after self activating wouldn't work and found out it did require a Sim so got transferred to sprint international and got to order a free Sim from them it arrived and activation didn't work talked to support and guy said I was sent an android varrarent of the Sim after he checked the numbers and I would have to reorder an iPhone compatible one they gave me free overnight ship and it came and activated fine my question is tho
Would it be possible to activate cheap Chinese phones like the goophone or there new s5Clones/generic android sim phones on sprint. I ask this question because the only Google results I could find were from like 2008 and older So not to relevant today and BTW I still don't like iPhone over priced fads that do half as much as a android
Anyone this is messing with me not knowing

i would of thought this thread/topic would of had a lot more traffic who wouldn't want a cheap replacement Chinese phone as a backup in-case of accidents or theft and loss on the sprint network.
i basically just wanted to know if possible because last time i knew of sprint was cdma only still but i don't understand why they would have android sim card
You will have to check pretty carefully to make sure that the Chinese phone has the correct frequencies for use on what ever Carrier you go with. There is an article here discussing the pros and cons of getting a Chinese branded phone.
One thing to note is that the Moto G pretty much takes every Chinese phone to school and for not really that much more $$$.

yea there are only a few company's i found the supports hspa+ net10 / with an at&t sim i figure at&t too but i believe every usa gsm network if i recall correctly supports voice and text bandwidths
my dad purchased a n9776 about a year ago and his data speeds on net10 with an at&t sim was around 15-18mpbs down before they rolled out the new plans for net10. now hes thinking of switching carriers the apns keep switching and loosing connection every other day causing his mms and data to stop working until we reenter the settings. but i'd like to know if sprint would be a viable option in the future (much better customer support). recently his charging port on his phone broke so he looking for a new phone. ill show him that moto g
