Sprint Galaxy Note 3 discussion (Info, accessories, colors) - Sprint Samsung Galaxy Note 3

Folks who are getting the Galaxy Note 3 on Sprint who aren't being scared off by the FUD being spread in the triband thread, here's our own discussion topic!
Now that Sprint has officially announced the Galaxy Note 3 launch on October 4, let us discuss! It's kind of strange they haven't set up pre-orders yet. This leads me to believe they probably won't. With a little over a week left until the launch, it appears that those who order online won't be able to get it until October 7th/8th. Also heard rumors that Sprint won't have the pink option or 64GB version available. It sucks but oh well. At least 32GB is the base model this year!
What color are you getting?
Are you getting the Galaxy Gear smartwatch too?
Accessories?
-I'll be getting black, since white has LED light bleed.
-No Galaxy Gear
-I have two bumper cases (clear and white/black) and a crappy S-style tpu kickstand case with a few screen protectors. I'm not sure If I will get the flip cover yet.
Are you guys excited? I sure am!

Best buy has it for pre order now

Damn for real? Best Buy has as reputation for marking up the retail price quite a bit though

Looks like their selling it for 349.
I'll be at the sprint store first thing next Friday morning! Can't wait!

I bought my SGII Epic 4G Touch through them back in 2011. I bought it for the same price as directly from Sprint while convincing them to give me a discount equal to the activation fee (~$36) - essentially to "waive" it. I also accumulated some best buy reward zone points
Best Buy is a fine option when purchasing on contract if you can find a deal. I'd probably look elsewhere for off-contract and full-retail purchases, though.

I have been doing a time analysis of how (email, calendar, social media, video's & gaming, music) and where (location) I use my phone the most etc..
I have come to the conclusion that the places where I happen to use my phone the most and during its most intense use of bandwidth also happens to be the places in which I have access to great wifi signal. I know this isn't how most folks use their phones but its really how I use my phone and when I don't usually have a great signal. I just pop out my mifi and I am having a great signal once again. Is it irritating that Sprint dropped the triband? Yup and Yup. Is it a deal breaker for me to go to a slower and smaller phone? Nope and Nope..
The things that I am more interested in hearing about is
What Dac are they using for the audio processor?
Can I use usb 3 as a digital for my audio amp?
What will the transfer speed be on my USB3 HD which is running a 500gb SSD
Battery life
Has anyone been able to use a 128GB sd card in the unit, and have it recognize all 128GB?
What screen protector works best in direct sunlight.

I wonder how the charging port lines up compared to the Note II. Hoping I can still use my Note II car cradle and charger

The Note 3 for Sprint will be a world phone. Love it!

So after 3 years and 4 months since I've owned Sprint 4g phones, a new tower in the area went live with LTE. Here's to hoping it doesn't take another 3 years for the tower near my home to be upgraded. I'm ready for my Note III....

just so you know. I havn't had a problem with best buy increasing price for products but if that is the case, they price match with the carriers. they also give you the lower price for pre-orders. for example if you order an item and its fairly certain it will retail for say $50 and then release rolls up and it is $60 they will sell it to you for the $50. you may just have to mention it to the employee checking you out but the managers know whats up.
Can't link to BB price match due to new user =) but google "Best buy price match" and it will be the first link
I have had to mention the PM once and the employee just had to get the manager to sign off on it which he had absolutely no prob doing. took maybe 2 min after I had mentioned it. then the lady behind me did the same thing because she was there for the same product for her son I would assume. I contacted the owner "Corey" from Trim Leather.
And he says he will have a line of cases out within 2 weeks for the Galaxy Note 3.
I know someone who has an Iphone case and the work is pretty awesome.
This will be my case for the GN3.
I have linked his page to the below.

With the new one up program, if i am eligible for a upgrade, do i have to trade in my phone.? Id like to keep it for my daughter. Also what exactly do you pay for when doing this? Any money up front? I appreciate any advice or insight

GSIII To Note 2

So I'm curious, am I the only one nuts enough to considering selling his GS3(probably on ebay) for the 4-500 price to get Note 2?
I've recently gotten an itch for a tablet but don't see the need of one when I've got my phone and really think this would be a nice in between for the two.
Lots of people have just look through the other threads and you'll see a ton.

I'm actually a salesman for a VZW Retailer, I'm waiting to see how the rest of this week goes before I make the decision.
sold my s3 yesterday for $400 - gnote on the way. UR not crazy
Definitely the right choice. The pen changes everything…if you like retouching and doodling
Gs3 sold last month and have been using this stupid iPhone ever since preordering.
I am also definitely selling my s3 for the Note 2. My only problem is i don't have a back up phone and have to buy the Note first before I can sell my s3. How are you guys selling it for $400. Mine is absolutely mint and everyone on CL low balls at around $300. If i can get $350 i would be happy since i bought mine at full retail.

That's good to hear and know. Maybe ill try ebay. I hate not having the instant cash but just saw a blue s3 going for $405 with multiple bids and like 2 days left. I mean my accessories in the box and still in their plastic.

Price it for $395 with many CLEAR pics. Mine sold in 15 minutes with the guy coming to me. Also, if you need an interim phone, buy a thunderbolt and a sim adapter. I paid $50 for my thunderbolt on CL. Many are going for $80 - $120. You can just resell it when done and lose your $3.00 sim adapter investment
If you sell on ebay be sure to make it known that you are verifying the condition of the device with photos and video before shipment. That will discourage the scammers from trying to swap with a busted device and then sticking you for the money. Or even better when they break it within the first day and try to claim you sent a a damaged item.
Otherwise you can get burned because ebay will usually side with the buyer on any dispute. I learned the hard way with a previous smart phone sale. Took a month to get my money back along with a busted phone.

Just know that on eBay you have a lot more in fees, even if it sells for $50 more on eBay most of that will end up being paid to eBay/PayPal anyways.

I sold a Nexus 7 16gig for $120 and a iPhone 4 for $120 yesterday but I was impatient. If I was smart I would have off loaded that Nexus 7 a few months ago. Still a nice tablet hands down but I want to focus on one device and that's the Note 2.

Right time to buy? Still expensive...

Hey guys,
I've never bought the bigger phablet phones... so i'm not sure what to expect in regards to price drops.
I always buy from wirefly because of no tax. Right now, it's still 150$.
Should i be waiting for Note 3 announcement? What price do you think is the right price to "strike"? For instance, the SGS3 is 30$ now in wirefly (has been a while) and i think that is a good time to buy it..
I would get the note 2 now its only 150 it was 300 new you wont be disappointed

The first thing you should do is go to a store that has the note 2 on display and play with it and don't forget to compare it it to the galaxy phones. Now if to have chosen the note as your phone you can keep reading
Here's some perspective on price I paid $600 for the phone to keep my plan. $150 is a very good price for the note 2. Yes it's a big phone, but I've used this phone more than any smartphone before it. Being able to read the screen with ease makes browsing the web, games, books, and emails (work) enjoyable. I've used extended batteries in all my phones and with the one I got on my note it's about as thick as a deck of cards and with my heavy screen use lasts about 3 days. Since the note 3 is going to be even larger in size I'm probably going to stick with my note 2.

Keep an eye on Amazon wireless. I grabbed my N2 last week as an upgrade for $100. It's back up to $180 upgrade price now, but new lines of service are still $100. Love this phone so far!

Was the only customer in my local Sprint store this morning. They took over an hour because they were having problems with the new Note 3 and new One Up program. Got it back at home though now. Absolutely LOVE it!!!!!
Good luck to everyone getting it this morning! If you're also using the One Up program then be prepared to wait. They said no one else had been able to do it yet. I was thrilled that they were for me. I was willing to wait all day if I had to though! Lol

My experience was not that bad considering I did a number swap with my girlfriend. Essentially she got my S3and I took her EVO 3D to do the One up. I did the number swap Friday the 4th so I actually couldn't do the One up til the next day. Went in at 9 was out of the store before 9:15. Compared to my S3 the N3 is a beast all its own and I love it.

Note 3 versus Galaxy Mega
Hi, I'm thorn between the Note 3 and the Mega. I know the Note 3 has a faster processor, more memory, ram and better screen resolution. currently I have the Note 2. I need the biggest screen I can get. don't use the Spen too much so no need of it. Anyone have tested the Mega?
A heads-up that Amazon just got the black model in stock -- I got an email saying that my earlier order has shipped, and it shows 2 more in stock currently. http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Galaxy-Note-Black-Sprint/dp/B00FJ8WBJG/ref=pd_sim_sbs_cps_1
Price is $299.99 for an upgrade, and they don't charge tax to most states (including IL), plus my Chase Freedom card is offering 5% cashback from Amazon purchases this quarter... so my bottom line is $285... pretty good, I'd say.

Just a heads up to anyone considering moving from the HTC One to this phone should do it. I loved the speakers on the One but the battery life, screen size, and expandable storage are completely worth the switch. I'm really loving this phone and I use the stylus and S-Notes way more than I ever thought I would.

Ok... I was eligible for an upgrade so I went to Amazon and picked the Note 3 for Sprint. Sero obviously isn't a plan Amazon offers, so I chose one of the plans they do offer and ordered the phone. The phone showed up the next day. Before turning it on, I called Sprint and said I bought a new phone and want to activate it, but stay on the same plan. They said no problem and activated it. Done.
Two years ago when I was eligible for an upgrade that was the method Amazon told me to use if I wanted a plan they didn't offer. Just in case it didn't work, I didn't turn on the phone until I had confirmation from Sprint it would work.

Note 3 vs HTC One Max?
I picked up my Note 3 on 10/5 and have 14 days to return. I'm thinking about checking out the HTC One Max but the non-removable battery may be a deal breaker for me.
Note 3:
My Cons:
Call quality is so bad
I rarely use the SPen (only to show off) so it's useless
hardware power button moves around alot (super minor)
WatchON and My Magazines sometimes pops up with it not responding (I don't use them)
My Pros:
Screensize/resolution is AMAZING (I came from an S2 Lol)
Battery life: WOW. I stream Pandora all day, utube, txt/emails, and I can still get about 24 hr usage with my HEAVY use.
SD Card slot
Removable battery: Awesome for traveling
Charging: WOW. charges from 0-100 in about 2 hours and 30m
HTC One Max(rumored specs) :
My Cons:
Battery: Non-removable battery???? May be a deal breaker for me.
Size: It was looking to be 5.9 view-able but now they think it will be the same 5.7 as our note 3? The phys size looks like it might be half an inch or so bigger then the Note 3. Will be disappointed if the view-able screen is 5.7 instead of 5.9.
My Pros:
If screen-size will be 5.9, this will put me one step closer on making me want to switch.
Similar battery life as the note 3
SPEAKERS!!! I'm a media person, and stereo/front speakers might push me over the top to switch.
Just minor things that I've though about. Please let me know of your thoughts!
10/18 will be the last day I will be able to undo my note 3 purchase with no penalties (besides the $35 restocking fee). I think the HTC One Max will come out on 10/15 as rumored so I'll be trying it in store to get a better feel of which phone suits me best.

No HeadPhones????

So I got Note 3 from an authorized retailer paid 360, got a small box with charger 2 manuals, quick start and warranty. and the phone.
My friend got the same thing for Tmobile today, he got a nice big box with head phones.
And he also paid 360.
So I wonder, Does the AT&T Version come in a crappy box?, or did I get screwed?
I am going to write the company about this, AT&T and Samsung, for 360$ they should have atleast included the headphones and even a micro-SD
Please let me know if this applies to me.
yep att version does not come with headphones
verizon does not have headphones either
360?
Bloody hell, for 360 i'd have setted for just the phone, without everything else....
You need to realize everyone else has to pay over $1000 for the same phone...
I'm assuming you also did not get the pentip replacements, then?
If you call AT&T and complain, if the rep is nice, they might give you $10 or $15 courtesy credit for the inconvenience.

I'm assuming the $360 is also with a 2 year contract.
I paid nothing for mine in the UK but I have a 2 year contract.
Sprint's Note 3 comes with headphones
My AT&T version Note 2 was the same way. No headphones, generic box. A bit of a letdown considering the awesomeness of this device. Definitely doesn't make for a spectacular unboxing.
whats an att box look like? i got a nice tmobile "wood" box
Both of the Note 3's I got a few days ago were $700 each (without contract). I purchased both at a T-mobile booth in the Mall. Both came in a nice wood-look box with USB 3.0 data cable, 110v wall plug, headphones, and pentips (though at first, I had no damn idea what they were.. lol)
Both of the Samsung Gear watches I picked up at Best Buy tonight, came in the same nice wood-look box.

My understanding is that the ATT deal is more expensive when you add in two years or service. T-Mobile charged me $708 upfront for the phone, but has unlimited everything for $70/month, or unlimited voice/text plus 2.5 GB 4G Data for $50. They also have the phone for zero to $199 down & no interest on the remainder, over 2 years.
I've been a customer since 1998 and my only complaint is the sketchy reception in some office buildings. Good thing they free WiFi calling.

I thought the $50 plan only included 500 MB of full speed 4G? Or were you grandfathered in?

Yes, I forgot, I was already on an old family plan at $80 for 2 lines, with 500mb of 4G, and could add 2 Gb for $10.
For new customers/current plans it is:
$50 for unlimited talk & text & 500 mb of 4G, then unlimited data at a slower speed (I don't know how slow)
$60 the 4 G slows after 2.5 GB
$70 unlimited 4G, plus you can share 2.5 Gb of 4G with WiFi hot spot.

AT&T Plain box with no headphones.
I got mine from AT&T and it came in a plain orange and white box with no headphones. Seriously though the audio out from the N3 is way too good to waste on cheap headphones. I'm using Shure E3C earphones and the sound quality is stunning, especially if you use well recorded 24/96KHz FLAC files. USB Audio also works really well with this phone and an external USB DAC/Headphone Amp.
As far as plans go I bought mine outright for $700 and no plan. I use AT&T GoPhone plan which is .10/minute and $5 per month for 50MB of data. I spend only $100 per year total since I hardly ever make calls and am almost always in WiFi range. I did run a Speedtest on 4G LTE and it returned 26Mb/s download, 20Mb/s upload. Damn fast and consumed my entire months data in 15s
AT&T stores definitely don't like you doing this of course and I had to go to two different stores and spend three hours arguing with the manager to get it. At the second store he was down to pulling up listings on ebay and suggesting I buy it there. When I held my ground and threatened to sign up for a contract (which he knew I'd cancel the second I left the store) he finally gave in and sold it to me.
Of course I didn't get my $375 discount but their minimum plan is $80 a month including fees so over two years I'm saving $1720 which entirely pays for the phone and leaves me another $1000 to spend on other goodies (2 x PS4 for example ).

Bloody hell, for 360 i'd have setted for just the phone, without everything else....

If you're paying over $1000 you're insane. The retail on an unlocked Note 3 is less than $800.

Ohhhh that's what those things were
Mine came with earphones.
Those who say they got headphones: What size was the box? Can someone post a photo of the heaphones. I would have preferred headphones to earphones.

I did not see anything that WOWED me.
Good info nonetheless.
It also says "NEW" activations only .. looks like I'm gonna have to start hangin out at the ole RS and make a buddy..
Getting the Note 3 for $99 this soon would definitley be a good deal, especially with a $50 gift card.
I've also been watching for Black Friday deals for the N3 but haven't come across any yet. The BF ad for Sam's Club lists the S4 for $.96 (which is probably the best deal around) but nothing about the N3.
Amazon currently offers the Note 3 for $170 with Verizon contract for a new account or adding a line, $249.99 for upgrades.
This is with a 2yrs contract right? If not then something is up with black Friday

The best deal on the S4 that i have found is from best buy(http://blackfriday.bestbuy.com/#!/c...at=All Cell Phones with Plans&cat=Cell Phones) they are showing up as FREE with a contract. Have yet to see any Note 3 deals. I hope someone has a deal on it, really want to get one.

Yep, I keep checking every day. I am wondering if I go to a corporate store and transfer the upgrade from another line if it would "stay" long enough to go buy from amazon?

Link?
Well..I tried to post the link, but it kept erroring out. I tried re-entering the captcha spam prevention phrase at least five times before I took a sec to actually read the error message: "To prevent spam on the XDA forums, ALL new users prevented from posting outside links in their messages. After approximately 10 posts, you will be able to post outside links. Thank you for understanding!"
Anyway... just google 'amazon verizon note 3'. I think the prices are still the same.
an update on this??
as I have been looking around the internet, I have found no deals for the note 3 for black friday. When I went to the Verizon store yesterday, the employees said that they have not heard anything about deals on the note 3 and HIGHLY doubt there will be any. They gave me a black friday ad and their phone deals are the lg g2, htc one, and samsung galaxy s4. Sorry if this made you a little sad lol
This isn't bad.
