Market apps are all cah-put I've tried several apks for trevs_mod without luck barnical WiFi for root and others failed with errors the apks are starting and running but nothing sees the signal ( tablet other phones laptop) when it claims to be running. Not sure if it matters but I've got a 4.1.2 xt912 rooted running base ROM rooted have art mod installed but it doesn't work with that either. I'm striking out
unrooted re rooted used the droid razr utility. for wireless ive tried tried trev-e mod apk without luck and market apps do not work either no progress so far.

Foxfi will work I'm on stock rooted and works every time

Razr with JellyBean(on few carriers) is not supported by FoxFi, as the carriers have made security measures to block the app.
Please look at the below link.

"try PDANet with Foxfi" - read this somewhere. I havent used PDANet though. Give a try.

If I remember correctly, there was a mod for enabling wireless tethering on stock ROM.
Something to be changed in the SQL database. Don't know exactly coz I never used it.
Try searching for it.

got foxfi going
Alright so i started from square one again and foxfi is working on stock rooted, but it enables the verizon app and notification is this a normal thing ? every other wireless tether ive used didnt alert the verizon app or trigger it at all.
ive read about squ-lite and but not very deeply and have not attempted it what so ever

Check out Max!
I used SQLite Editor and did the entitlement edit and it was very easy. You have to pay a few bucks for the app thru the Google Play store but it is well worth it. You can check out the link below that shows a step by step video on the whole procedure plus instructions are wrote down too. Max does a lot of these tutorial videos for Android users and he is a great teacher!!! When you search for the category entitlement check it may be numbered different then what the video is but it's still labeled the same. If you have problems just post back here and I can help. Good luck!

Best Tethering app?

Im rooted now im wondering whats the best app to get for tethering?
I want to usb tether and wifi teather ....any ideas?
thanx
use the google one
current stable release is 2.06 i think
I use Barnacle, nice and easy
Sent from my MB860 using XDA App
Well if you are interested in tethering with a lapdock (as I am with unlimited) Barnacle works flawless after associating. The wifi tether required I change the network proxy to default before it passed validating. But I got it off the market so the beta pre 3.0 may work better. Market version also didn't allow some controls.
Sent from my MB860 using XDA App
I use a combo of Barnacle + Mobile Hotspot.
What do you guys use for a wired tether?
Sent from my MB860 using XDA App
I use PDAnet if I need to tether via USB. But I rarely have to.
There is also a wired tether app. I found it with a Google search. Its just like wireless tether except wired. I can't attach it from the app here but its out there.

Hey thanks for replying, I've only been using android for about a few months now, used to be a windows mobile fan, dislike it. Switching over to this, not sure what exactly that is, am a techno dude, if there are some steps maybe you could guide me, appreciate it. thanks.

Might want to do a little reading on what all rooting is before you do it. But basically it gives you more control over the phone. Once rooted and allow third party apps you should be able to download wifi tether and install it.
Thanks for the article. completed, also followed the sticky for rooting on here. ATT=money maker company, can't believe we can't install non market apps right out of the box.

verizon mobile hotspot connectivity issue

There have been reports in other forums of connectivity issues when using the mobile hotspot (verizon provisioned). Some of the reports have indicated that verizon and motorola are aware of the issue related to MTU setting.
Personally, my laptops are able to connect and work properly, but my Kindle Fire is only able to connect with limited success. i.e. downloading books works but most web browsing fails (hangs forever trying to load page). Cloud music also works. But apps don't download.
I've checked the maximum MTU without fragementation and it seems that the verizon mobile hotspot fragments over 1400bytes while my home wifi fragments over 1500bytes.
I created this post because I haven't seen other similar post on xda-developers and wanted others to be aware of this issue that I've heard also affects ipads, ipods, and macbooks.
Kindle connectivity
Hi,
I also had problems staying connected with the Kindle. I was able to solve the problem by making the DHCP IP setting on the Razr start at x.x.x.50 instead of 1 or 2. I've never had a problem since.
I hope this helps
Hi guys, I had the same issues while using Verizons hotspot . I could only connect to some sites like craigslist and google, other sites like Yahoo and cars.Com would not connect. The fix I found was to install wifi tether from the market, open and before connecting open settings (under menu), then checking "routing fix". That took care of all my connection problems. Let me know if that helps. P.S. give me a thanks if it works out.

Hulu apk that works

For those that didn't see this till recently (like myself) this hulu apk will work on our phone. You will have to uninstall hulu first if you already have it installed.

works perfect on my note. Now I don't have to sign up for netflix for my travels
Lets me log in, go to load a vid, Buffers forever, says it appears you are having network issues Please wait or try again later. I'm on my wifi at home, not 2 feet from my router, have full bars on my network, can stream from everything else, but this buffers endlessly.

Using Saurom Rom, not the 7.1 but the one before it. It's funny, because it worked on my Tmobile HD2, before it broke, dual booting android and windows 6.5.

Ad blocking will generally cause this issue. If you have ad blocking on your phone try disabling it or adding the ad urls to the whitelist of your ad blocking software.

[Q] How to make your Kyocera Rise into wifi hotspot?

I purchased Kyocera Rise during blackfriday sale (switching from LG Optimus V to Kyocera Rise). After playing on it for awhile, I wanted to use it as a wifi hotspot so I downloaded quicksetting app but wifi hotspot setting didn't work. My Rise is rooted and using stock ROM. I was be able to use my LG Optimus V (rooted and IHO rom) as a wifi hotspot this way but it isn't working for my Rise. Thank you in advance.

Hey, I did something dumb and deleted system apps off my phone.
Could someone use root explorer and copy the stock folder: system/apps
or send a system dump.
I'm not sure of all the damage I've done but if you could at least give me a download/link, for Contacts.apk, Dialer.apk, Mms.apk
I'm still beating myself up over this, if anyone could help, I'd appreciate it.

Replace the DOT with a period... Sorry, can't post links yet....
trust me..I GOT THIS
Step 1 root your phone
Step 2 download blackmart from google
Step 3 download lucky patcher from blackmart or the internet(app icon is a yellow happy face)
Step 4 download svtp wifi hotspot from blackmart(get the paid version..all apps are free from blackmart)
Step 5 install it and open lucky patcher and find the svtp app.
Step 6 hold over it and tap remove liscence verification(just use auto modes)
Step 7 when it finishes just use the svtp app and it should work..
It worked for me and I have kyocera rise through virgin mobile
If you don't know how to root than google it! You don't even need a computer for this model

Rooted my phone, root seems ok, but i still cant tether

I hope it's ok to make a topic about this... Been looking around without finding any duplicate posts. I should note that i had an older rezound that i rooted just fine on gb and it tethered fine.
This new one had ics before i rooted it, and i get issues with any tethering app i use; even barnacle, which was the one i used last time. Ill post the error message i get in a subsequent post, but i think it had to do with difficulties making an ad-hoc connection or something.
Anybody face this issue?
