Yes kingo root should be able to root the i9205 also..as this program works on quite a few samsung phones.
Sent from my SGH-I527M Mega 6.3

Yes, it can. For testing sake using Kingo Root I have first Unrooted my I9205 and then re-Rooted it without any problems.
Unrooting takes about 5 minuts, rooting was very fast. Root Checker says, so device is rooted, although I can not find SuperSU which was previously installed.
Custom Recovery (TWRP) stays and two red lines during booting to recovery stays also. I do not know how it will be when one root fresh Mega using Kingo Root. Some say there is not any red lines then.

Root SGH-1527M
Tried the Klingo Root program. Root failed. Reinstalled and tried again. Root failed. Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated

I was wondering when these questions were going to be ask...Ok here we go...If you did the OTA update...It installed Knox for starters..Ok root with Kingo..It will reboot...When you look for Super User you're correct it won't be there..Why you ask?Because with the OTA the binary is totally different..But it's a simple fix...Once you root with Kingo reboot and go in to the play store....Type in SU in the search..You will see it pop up with the blue Android icon...Download it..and let it install..It will then ask if you want to update the binary..Choose yes..exit out...Reboot once more...Now you will see the SU icon...Now click on it...and it will ask if you want to disable Knox..Choose yes...Exit you're done..Enjoy...

Description: This is a simple guide that will allow you to easily root your Verizon Galaxy S4 device without having to wipe your device or flash a full prerooted factory image. This method works using a leaked prerelease kernel (provided by user sextape) and root method (provided by user djrbliss). Only change is I have modified the Motochopper root method to use the latest SuperSU instead.

The motochopper link triggered mine. Followed the instructions and I had to run the motochopper run.bat twice, first time it installed Superuser.apk but it wasn't rooted. Second time everything worked perfectly, I am now rooted. Thanks!

Edit: Every reboot now, I get this notification "Detection information: The device has detected an application attempting unpermitted actions. To protect your devices, it is recommended you reboot". See attached screenshot. I can clear the notification without any issues, seemingly.
sweet. will give it a whirl once i get off work!
This worked for me this afternoon. As I mentioned in other threads if you're getting stuck at boot.img in Odin try using a USB port on the back of your PC. That was what did it for me (to get the kernel installed.) I did everything else from the back USB port as well and it went great.

This message is actually related to SEAndroid. If you freeze the apk using an app like Titanium Backup, it should remove the message.

I know I have read somewhere about the "Boot unlock- Custom" message that appears when you boot the phone, could somebody point me in the right direction on how to fix this please? (Running stock softwear, no ROM yet)
Also, how would I go about switching the Superuser app to SuperSU? (I have the paid SuperSU I use from my tablet and want to use it with my new S4)- NVM- Chainfire made it all to easy for beginners like myself. SuperSU will overwrite and remove superuser automaticly for anybody else with this!

I can confirm that freezing SEAndroid 1.0 removes the warning instantly
Install SuperSU and update the binaries. Then uninstall superuser and reboot the phone 2 times and the unlock icon will be gone. Good luck.

For now it's not required, I'm going to do a lot of testing tonight and if restoring the VRUAMDK kernel still works with latest SuperSU I may just update both at once.
It worked for me. This was posted somewhere in the AT&T S4 section.
Thanks I'll be trying this as soon as I get my hands on a S4 (soon).

We need an unlocked bootloader to get a working recovery right? Would it be semi safe to assume we can follow some of the other models (i9505, AT&T etc..,) "de-bloat" threads to de-bloat ours?
are there any risks with this method, i.e., not being able to receive OTA? can we easily de-root and restore root?

jeez... that was too f'in ez
Do we have a list of what's safe to remove yet (before we get custom Roms) ?

Thank you Korado for answer.
Yes ,I know after the latest update this method is doesnt work, but we have one solution.
If you are still using Official JB 4.2.2 XXUAMFB Firmware first download from PlayStore Voodoo OTA rootkeeper.
Link:https://play.google.com/store/search?q=voodoo%20ota%20rootkeeper&hl=tr
After installing Voodoo apk open it and press PROTECT ROOT buton. Now you can update your device via OTA.
After update your device open Voodoo root keeper app. and press RESTORE ROOT buton. You will see the root is come back.
But If these procedures before you update,my advice is flash Official JB 4.2.2 XXUAMFB Firmware via odin and do the above procedures from the beginning.
NOTE:I dont try update via KİES .

indeed, the version currently in OP should work fully now. using supersu 1.65 should net you root. just gutta wait for teh awesome devs to make yall some roms now. there are some things still left needed to be fixed for 4.3/note3 stuff.
dont restore any backups until this selinux stuff is fixed/figured out, luckily its a note 3 issue so all the note 3 people will be working on it .
this is a 4.3 thing but dont have my recovery fix root/remove scripts. you need them for root, when i get some time ill trash that stuff and compile a better version but for now just click no

When you say don't restore any backups, are you talking about Nandroids or TiBU files?

nandroids, currently there is an issue where selinux flag isnt being set properly when restoring data and then causes bootloops. titanium backup should be good
just to be clear, i didnt root the note 3, you guys had an unlocked bootloader it means rooting was as simple as flashing recovery. i included rooting steps in my OP to help people out.

Just re-run the CF-Auto Root instructions to the T and you should be back in business. I had the same issues and just used CF auto Root and it resolved my issues and I have root with no seen issues so far. Just got the device literally 1hr ago and just finishing up on it. Also if you installed a recovery you will have to ODIN back to OUDHS to get that back. I am holding off until I see some Jellybomb

It's Work my E5333 rooted.
I was able to root my E5506 (Wind Mobile) with or without USB debugging on. I tried both ways and it works using the latest Kingroot 4.8 app. It might reboot in the middle of rooting but just continue after the phone reboots. if it fails just try to root it again and it should work after a few tries.
I managed to install Titanium Backup Pro, Busy Box without any issues.
Note: If your Titanium Backup won't allow you to backup in your sd card, just download the app in the play store called SDfix. This app should fix your sd issues in TB. [emoji4]
If you flash a firmware using flashtool you will lose root so you'll have to re-root.
Nice, I'll try to change the root manager to SuperSU. Thanks for the info!
let me know if you manage to make it work. I tried to switch to super su but I keep getting error on su binary when it tries to update
OK Root C4
In my C4 I run until the fifth attempt. Xperia c4 5306
Fine...
After rooting can i use flashify to flash custon recovery? There's a custom recovery for C5 ultra by Bigrammy.
if your bootloader is unlocked you probably can install a custom recovery. my phone's bootloader is still locked just was able to get root access.

Doesn't biggrammy's custom recovery method address' this fact? It may show as "secure = yes" but recovery can still be flashed.
Quote:
following info from Sony my phone stated “NO” and as you can see the bootloader info said secure = yes but been a I went ahead anyway and here is the weird and lucky for us thing.
After I unlocked it I got (bootloader) secure = NO from fastboot but the System software still reported Bootloader unlock allowed = No
Nothing tripped no warranty warnings nothing it’s like the system never even knew sweet.

Oh yeah! Confirmed Kingroot to SuperSU is a success here too! Thank you pablo_xperia for sharing that link [emoji4]

Yes I understand that bigrammy did mention in his thread that some may show "secure=yes" but recovery can still be flashed. I am just worried about mine being a carrier bought phone not being able to flash the fotakernel. I don't want to screw up my phone just yet. Right now i'm fine with being rooted and have superSU installed.

You have to install supersu and terminal. Put wrm dir into phone storage
Follow the commands,
Su
/Sdcard/wrm/root.sh
When it completes, go launch supersu and update binary.
Then reboot

How to flash a functional TWRP
I am not responsible for bricks, broken phones etc.
It will trigger knox, so dont blame me.
First download Odin and TWRP in my example for the SM-A520F
Odin
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=529152257862705230
TWRP for SM-A520F
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=745425885120710156
Turn the phone to download mode ( turn off ) (hold power on volume down and home button to enter)
Open Odin and select AP and select A5-SM-A520F-TWRP-3.0.2.0.tar
Look at the options it must be the same as on the screen below

Press on start and wait until the phone reboots.
So connect your phone again to the pc and download the latest SuperSu by Chainfire and put it on your sdcard ( not internal )!!!
https://download.chainfire.eu/1021/SuperSU/SR3-SuperSU-v2.79-SR3-20170114223742.zip
Turn the phone off
Hold power + home button and volume up to enter the recovery .
Dont swipe to allow modifcations!! use read only!
Flash Supersu and after that reboot to android.
Also download the No-verity-no-encrypt Patch made by Ashyx and put it on your sdcard ( not internal )!!!
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24591000424951049
Install Flashfire made by Chainfire, grant it root.
make a backup of data choose to storage that backup on your micro sd card! internal will be wiped!
Check on flash, wait untill it finish.
If the phone is finish check on the microsd Flashfire backup if it is there reboot to twrp again.
Swipe to allow modifications and select dont show this again, format data, enter yes, After that go to install, select storage select micro SDCard
and flash the no-verity-no-encrypt_ashyx.zip.
If it is finished reboot the phone do the setup.
Install flashfire again hit restore and restore the data partition.
After that u can fully use TWRP and make nandroid's etc with it.
For cwm etc i dont know, if this works since i dont have cwm or A3 or A7.
But here are the links and try it at your own risk.

Dont swipe to allow system modifications will prevent you from being able to boot if you are using the stock kernel. In order to bypass dm-verity's boot prevention, you will have to install a kernel that has dm-verity disabled in the fstab.

Tell me please, because this is mi first samsung device. You just flash twrp image thru odin and then super su zip thru twrp? Or super su image? And that`s it? Knox is not trigerd? And for custom rom`s and kernels is there procedure to unlock bootloader like on sony devices or no? Thanx in advance.
twrp is buggy ... unless im doing something wrong. boot to twrp, flash su was fine but then when you want to make a backup , old problem comes back ... unable to mount ... wiping data helps but later on when you enter twrp it comes back ... unable to mount, so basically it looks like every time you want to make backup or wipe dalvik you need to wipe data to be able to mount for that moment. Thanx for your work.

am I missing something in twrp process, not a noob and aware of the fact that this problem came to be on MM but formatting is a one time procedure, not like in this case, every time you want to do something in twrp, you need to wipe data. any suggestions?! thanx.

for those that enjoying root and want a beast performance from your launcher, I can share this right here
https://mega.nz/#!igsG0aBA!4XQ7hGg_r_TzwGOygrW1jVRaLF6MSFBr_ll48ImNRXU
instructions : download the zip and extract the folder with modified launcher in it... using Root Explorer copy and paste the folder to system/priv-app... do not rename anything, just simply delete the old (TouchWizHome_2016B) folder, or place it somewhere else for future references, copy and paste modified TouchWizHome folder and change Permissions for the newly placed, - Folder 0755, TouchWiz apk 0644, reboot your device and be careful, because it might jump out of your hands it's so fast and steady.

knox got nothing to do with performance... if you want to know more and everything about root, you'll need to sign up for few threads here at xda and Google more... it'll be more productive for you. you loose warranty, you won't able to use Samsung Pay or Pokémon Go but root opens a new world for you and your device. good luck... read read read...
the whole point of custom recovery and root is to have absolute control and to get the most performance and capabilities possible out of your device with our own modifications or simply by using a Custom Rom.
