Rage Kernel was originally developed by DuMOHsmol
greenAlgae recompiled it to run on FXP CM7.2.0
Here’s the original thread (KERNEL)(Mini/MiniPro/Active/LwW) Rage Kernel v2.7 / v2.8 / v2.9 for FXP CM7.2.0 ROM
Downloads are on post 8
greenAlgae's thread was closed on the 7th June 2012
I have sent a request to our Mod to close this thread. I have switched to cm9 and I don't think I can properly maintain this kernel and thread any longer

I made this thread because I use CM7 and would like to see if I can continue DuMOHsmol's &
greenAlgae's work to improve this kernel for myself ill post my progress here should anyone be interested
But as always use it at your own risk
I have used greenAlgae's 2.7 version for several months
It works well for me with the stable cm-7.2.0-mango.zip available on the cyanogenmod website
Iv been using the smothass governor and have noticed massive improvements to battery life with only the occasional “screen on lag”
CPU Governors explained by deedii
14: Smoothass:
The same as the Smartass “governor” But MUCH more aggressive & across the board this one has a better battery life that is about a third better than stock KERNEL
Click to collapse
Smoothass
A more aggressive version of Smartass that is very quick to ramp up and down, and keeps the idle/asleep maximum frequency even lower.
Pro: Theoretically better battery life than Smartass.
Con: Same as Smartass & Interactive (the CPU will slowly ramp down after it is no longer needed (compared to its ramping-up speed). Might also go too low when asleep (an issue with other governor when a Sleep profile is used in apps such as SetCPU), causing the device to malfunction. Most common example is the screen not powering on when the power button is pressed or the phone begins ringing. Might also effect apps running in the background while sleeping.)

The fist thing I wanted to change was the bootsplash
Following This Guide I was able to change it in less than 5 minuets. I used this wallpaper and some photoshop magic.
>
>
>
Image 1: original bootsplash
Image 2: Image I wanted to use
Image 3: Was very large file size, took forever to boot & looked a funny green/brown colour on the phone
image 4: This was the smallest I could get the png without it distorting to much. (I used a mixture of tools found Here) But it still took forever to boot
Then I read up on Run-length encoding
Realized what I was doing wrong and made this one.
It boots in a flash (looks better on the phone)

nice work mate!!

Thanks wasn't expecting anyone to be interested lol
Iv uploaded the boot image
Next id like to update CWM.... I found a file named recovery... but I cant see it being as simple as replacing that one file lol
Can anyone point me in the right direction?

I'm interested to see where this goes, can you tell us the changes you did to the krenel so far except the boot image?

[KERNEL] Customs Kernel for Dell Venue

Hi Folks,
I create new thread just for easy that we focus on kernel building here and continue with rom on existeing thread
This kernel is almost all standard very minor changed. config based on "prebuilt" Q8650_perf_defconfig. ramdisk is from 408 firmware. I installed 408 rom by olleh (odexed ... duhhhh). No optimation have been made since I have no idea what should be optimized. Give me idea ... LOL
- download zip file from this thread > no heavy since only 3.3 MB flashable via CWM. Get CMW from TheManii (my Guru in android compilation). See the kernel version is x1123

what you get :
- customs kernel
- fully rooted system i.e you can do on fastbot $adb remount to have write access to device.
- suggest flash TheManii Streakdroid4-250 and immediately flash this kernel.
The main reason SD4 250 is hard to install is due to using a stock kernel, it's also the reason I havnt released SD5 250 at all (as there's plenty of alternatives)
If you're willing: just make a kernel with as little changes as possible, but with signature checking disabled for /system apks.
I dont think it's as simple as setting ro.secure=0 as I've made a modified ramdisk and it still fails on modified apks (pretty much every one in SDx 250 as I've added langs back to them)
I dont think I have the time to also learn how to recompile entire kernels, esp since SDx 25x is primarily intended for my own use. But I'd def like to release it with a modified kernal that would allow users to install it easier.
Hi TheManii.
This is my first time recompile linux kernel for android. It is really pain (comparing to recompile for PC). I will check and surf how to do your request. Just currious .. it is the kernel controlling /system/app/*.apk (?) ... need to check and learn kernel code then.
btw installing SD4-250 with default kernel I face FC many times when do setting on sound, receiving incoming calls, connect device to pc via usb port etc. But after flashing my kernel all FC gone ... I personally not sure it is because of kernel. But my venue now run smoothly powered by your SD4-250.
Btw I search on google and no lucks. How to get and add baseband (radio) file on ROM. I succeed to build a plaint rom can live on venue but always lack of GSM function. I dont think it caused by ril.d (ril_htc_d for htc) which is binary (?) or any ril_dell_d ... available
would you release SD5-250 ROM and let us work to do something to make dell venue have more options of customs rom.
Folks,
I can build a version of kernel-v4.06 myself. Run smoothly, no problem found so far. x1123's guide, if strictly followed, can bring such result to you.
It will be the best if you make it little under volt

Navigation and maps crash when using your otherwise smooth running kernel. Can you please look into it.

[Q] matching rom and kernel - important or not?

Ok noob-ish question...
I have a Galaxy Tab S2 GT-I9100 running gingerbread 2.3.3 (VillainRom 1.4.0) and a non-stock kernel after deciding to be brave and update from 2.2 to 2.3. I've decided to use ICS in the form of the codename android version but, so far, I've not found a good recommendation for which kernel to run with it - I don't even know if it makes a lot of difference/is critical/or what as I'm still only learning about flashing roms, etc.. Matr1x kernel along with codename android seemed to be recommended but that was on a Samsung Note not a Galaxy S2 - does it matter?
NB. I have rooted this phone and installed CWM if that helps.
Can anyone advise me please (with links, if possible)
Thanks, Mark
Hey dude,
To make easy, my humble advice is to start with my new tweaked combo : Wanam + AbyssKernel 2.2.
Take a look :
I can easily last 1hour screen on time with 89- 88% left.
AbyssPlug gov + Noop
Extreme UC UV settings.
Bloatware freezed.

What do you think ? Pretty awesome isn't it ?
Best battery life with really nice performance.
Come on, you should try it..
My two cents.
Thanks for that but as there are so many roms available I really wanted to go with ICS and codename android, at least to start with! I'm not keen on making too many changes and experimenting as I'm only a beginner in this field and the last thing I want to do is make loads of changes and brick it by making a mistake. I certainly appreciate all the effort people like you make and it makes life much easier for the rest of us plebs!
Cheers
Do not mix and match kernels and/or ROM's from other devices. Look under the battery and make sure you have an international GT-I9100 and not a varient such as GT-I9100G.
Sent from my Telecommunications Device.
Definitely the international version
Baseband version - I9100BVKH1
Kernal version - 2.6.35.7-I9100XXKH1-CL438706

The reason I mention the Matr1x kernel is that is was listed as a good combo in a page on "codename android on Galaxy S2" but it then went on about the galaxy nexus S. I didn't know whether they were different phones or the same phone with different names in different markets.
Anyhow I need to know if my existing kernel is good with ICS or if there is a better one to use on this phone.
Cheers all!

ICS will be complete with its kernel
Custom ICS kernels are in the dev thread .

I would recommend the ROM in my sig (click on pic). It is AOKP and has lots of features with good support in thread and on OP.

Battery life

how can i use my s2 i9100g for 2 full days without the need to charge it again?
what kernel, rom, apps do you recommend?
i'm new to this thing but already informed myself. i got the streetware kernel and the original 2.3.6 firmware. i capped the cpu to 300-600 mhz and its good like this but i need an app that autokills services that are hidden. like "Badge Provider" etc. or even better: install a kernel or rom that doesnt include all that ram-eating ****.
.
2 full days without charging
normal usage = no
light usage = no also
flight mode = yes
that is based on my experience.
now im using codeworkx ICS kernel. its quite good for me. quite heavy usage but it last for half day
I/O scheduler: noop
governor: hotplug
autokill services app might consume ur battery more because it have to run again and again.
to kill stock application, maybe u can refer to this
link: SGS2 Removable
credit to the owner (sorry i forgot where i get that from, but im sure its from XDA forum ) but that one is for GB, for ICS im not quite sure. maybe someone in this forum could help us :highfive:
i kinda messep up my s2 and get errors now and there. nothing critical though.
what rom and kernel would others recommend
i'd rather use gingerbread than ics if its better for the battery life. and one more question: can i use i9100 roms on i9100g ?

Cm9 is the Best rom i've used.
Better than stock one, for battery life as well as for stability

Cm9's battery life with medium-lite usage, flight mode with wifi when possible n hspa+ when no hotspot available

SK17i - Clock Freezes

Hi,
I have some stupid issue with my phone. Phone dont refresh screens automatically and clocks stops for some hours. (Lock screen, clock widget, task bar clock). Rotate screen force to refresh clocks and they stops again.
I check it on diffrent roms and kernels, and CPU settings
FXP 229 CM9 - (both kernel and rom) CPU setting default - after fresh install, first issue show after 2 weeks. Later after every reboot its back in 2-3 days (reboot makes clocks work for 2-3 days)
pure CM9 fron cmget - like FXP 229.
krsh 3.0 + RealICSLite_r4 - CPU Set (134-576 MHz, smartassV2, sio) - yesterday i flashed it, today morning clocks stops.
Lupus GB + Stock 2.3.4 (default cpu settings/134-576 MHz), - i didnt see issue on this configuration.
It seems i have problem only on ICS.
Here are screns which i made at 7:45:

I want use ICS but, I'm tired to reboot my phone everyday. Anyone have similar issue? Any ideas how to fix it ??
1. Don't use taskkillers
2. Don't use backups after clean install (Titanium Backup or something similar)
3. Try to flash Sony's ICS with Flashtool

Thanks for anwser.
1. I never used any taskkillers.
2. Do U have on mind to make a some test only with fresh rom?? If yes, i have some idea and suspect. Yesterday, I install clear ROM and only recovery by Titanium neesesary minimum - Call logs, SMS&MMS, Wifi list, Xtreame Clock Alarm and Tapatalk. I think that problem is Alarm Clock. Now i unistall it, and install other clock alarm - I hope that tomorrow will not oversleep for work We will see, if it resolve problem.
3. if my test fails, then i try lock bootloader and make test on stock 4.0.3.

u can flash stock rom without locking bootloader
and if time freezes everywhere i don't think it's alarm clock problem
by 2nd i mean what gb data is not compatible with ics and can cause problems
I had other issues with alarm clock in past, (on fresh cm9, without restored old data), so i think it is susspect.
Please note that first freeze issue i had after using fresh CM9 by 3 months - in 90% problem is in apps. As i sad, we will see if i think in right way.

Troys N986U A12 Rom

im uploading my custom N986U A12 Rom if anybody else wants it. I made sure to odin all the files on my phone beforehand and it went smoothly, but i cannot promise anything lol. This will wipe your phone though, as i didnt want any unnecessary problems. Once your about to finish setup, the sim manager should pop up. Just turn your sim off, and on again to restore data. IDK why it requires that, but its only once. If you dont get the manager, it should be in data settings. Took around 8 hours before performance improved but now its just as fast as A11. Flash in the corresponding slots in patched odin.Based on N986USQS2EULE

If you have any requests, just shoot and il look into it.

UPDATE: Made a updated N986U1 Rom for those who prefer U1 over U. Runs smoother in my opinion too.

is there native call record activated?
Working great so far! Thank's for throwing this up so fast. I'd been hitting refresh throughout the day ever since i saw it posted on samfirm.
Np guys, glad to help
Will this Rom work for Verizon? Is there a Verizon version?
It's universal csc, so yes it will
Hello guys, sorry if I missed, but it's for snapdragon or exynos? Thanks for attention
Snapdragon
@troy896 Whats the process to install this one?
Sorry I been years away the dev scenes.
Well,
I have tried every single Odin available hahahhaa and doesnt flash. (FAILED)
Am I missing something?
Well I'm having an audio issue now. Phone runs great, all smooth animations and everything... until i playback ANYTHING with audio. It'll play for 3 seconds and then stutter/stop for 3 seconds. Voicemails, Spotify, YouTube... you name it.
Did a factory reset and still the same thing. Any ideas?
EDIT: So after some tinkering with permissions i was able to resolve the issue. I believe it had something to do with bixby and full time mic access. Smooth sailing now!

I flashed both on V1 bootloader as posted and still have my BL unlock.
Been on Android 10 since release of this device. The change is nice, rom running pretty good. Thanks for this.
Im getting Android System Keeps Stopping when trying to share any photos from gallery. Using U1 version
So glad to have a OneUI 4 ROM to mess with. Thank youuuu. I can confirm the photo sharing from gallery crashes gallery bug but I haven't noticed anything else. Overall really nice although maybe not as good on battery as the older one ui.
I don't comment much but I have to say thank youuuuu
