[Q] volume on the face of htc evo - Sprint HTC EVO 4G LTE

there is a app or mod that I had seen in a rom that I tried a long time ago and when you touch between the back and home button the volume would go down and between the home and the menu button it would go up I thought it was something like swipe to wake but I have no idea what it was called. can someone help me with this.

It's a feature in Thicklizard's Arc Reactor kernel. It was a phantom volume mod.

I don't think you'll find an app since such a thing had to do with kernel capabilities. Unless it supports the feature, you can't set the option. If you're lucky and you ask nicely, a dev might listen and build it in. Of course it's entirely their decision.

Just Got the HTC 3D EVO but...Bottom right and left touch screen doesn't work?

Hi!
I just got the HTC eVO 3D, and I'm still trying to get use to it. I got a little scared when I found out that I can't use the bottom left and bottom right icons on the touch screen (the icons 1 that is to the left of the phone button and the appearance 1 that is to the right of the phone button)
I have a feeling that there is something I'm missing!
Any help would be appreciated! I tried searching this but I had no luck!
Thank You!

I can't recabrate, but I mean those parts work on the phone anywhere else...The All apps button and the personalize button don't work :S
try rebooting, formatting the phone, factory reset, and if all that fails, then you can try returning it.
*dont forget to back up your stuff before deleting everything lol.
and try downloading a different launcher like Launcher pro or ADW Launcher.

Yeah, so all the way at the bottom I can't touch anywhere...which is weird because I can still use phone call....keyboard etc which are all located in that area:S
Would flashing it to a different rom help?
This is very weird, I also recalibrated it, and its still doing that. The only thing that confuses me is the fact that I can fully use the bottom screen in apps, texting and surfing:S
I have no idea what this is...any other suggestions, I did factory restore is there a way to reflash the phone (compeltely reflashing it) would that matter?
Sorry about the questions!
It may well be worth flashing a different ROM and kernel make a nandroid and give it a go. Very odd tho!

I wish there was an explanation If a Custom kernel won't do anything I'll just live with it...I mean I can still get there using the menu button:S and the phone works fine other than that:S
Defective memory address I'm thinking
K - I've not found any other explanation but gradual disintegration of the internal flash memory. What kills me is that there isn't a ready repair.
Anyway, the symptoms tend to grow (I know) consistent with memory breakdown. Many functions work in landscape and not in portrait. Unfortunately some key functions have no other solution - mandating (for now) a phone replacement. That seems really stupid. In the new SSD world there are memory bridging utilities that work with specific drives. These test and re-do the logic map that sits between OS & apps and SSD. Like the old sector tests but not.:cyclops: Can't find such a thing for Android. Maybe because Android is CHAOS and IN HELL?

new evo user impression so far

so i had an htc hero for 2.5 years, and made the decision to finally upgrade.
this is just my 2 cents so far (quick review)
i like the phone. there are a few things about it that just seem funky though, and i know some of you are working on fixes.
i dislike:
-the on-screen menu button. should be re-mapped to the recent apps button, and long pressing the recent apps button should open up the app switcher. the app switcher itself is annoying. i don't like scrolling through cards. i miss a bunch of icons popping up and me picking which app i was using that way.
-the multi-tasking issues (gr)
Wait upgraded... From.... Hero.... Congrats .. And Idk why everyone wants buttons re mapped I guess some features are used more my some people then myself. I n the multi tasking I'd annoying we all agree with that lol.

I agree, and I was one of those. I spent two days with the new evo from the OG EVO, and I almost forgot about the things that I was so used to. There are so many pluses to ICS. Maybe it's the beautiful screen that distracted me like a swinging pendulum hypnosis, or the FAST camera. Huge step up from EVO 4G. If I was coming from the Hero, I would have jizzed!

Well...... Welcome to the EVO 4g LTE
As for the stuff you dislike, you can flash a rom to get rid of the on screen menu button and make one of the capacitive buttons the menu button. I think you can get an app to make the multitasking look different... I remember something like this when using gingerbread.
I don't have any multitasking issued but I do have a bit of lag when switching tasks or just lag in general.... If that is what you meant.
pkmn rom is the heavy weight champ. unlike most, I like the multitasking button but i hated the three dot menu. The pkmn rom let's u remap buttons with long press options so I have menu set up for long press home and toggle off the three dot menu - it's perfect. You can also change the multitasking to the stock Android look. it's the perfect rom - yall should check it out
where can I find said ROM? I didn't see it in the dev section. I'll google it

And it'll be the Evo LTE or the SGSIII.

My one question: is there a RELIABLE AND BUG FREE workaround yet for the botched multi-tasking??
If not, I think that will ruin my experience.

I tried multiple roms and so far it seems there is no fix.
For example I was on the web browser. Backed out with the home key to go to home screen. I then went to settings to change my display settings went back to browser and the whole page had to reload and refresh.
My GS2 and Galaxy Nexus was better then this phone in the performance department.
Not to mention after you start installing apps and setting up your home screens the phone just gets slower and slower and less snappy.

Yep. It's bad.
Bad enough that my lte is sitting in a drawer as I use an alpha cm9 build on my evo 3d. Multitasking, background downloads stopping, and overall sluggishness compared to stock drove me away.

Yeah, if even that long. The funny thing is that the change is so simple (go find runandhides thread, he shows how he did it) that anyone that knows how to decompile/recompile an all can do it. Let alone HTC, it shouldn't have taken them this long.

No I must agree. You may be mistaken about what is broken with multitasking on our phones. The One X fix removes the black menu bar at bottom of screen in some apps & moves recent apps to a long press of the button. Our multitasking problem is Sense not storing the state of apps once we switch from one to another so that when we do switch or multitask back to original opened app it has to completely restart. This fix does nothing to help that and I don't see HTC releasing one anytime soon seeing as that is how they intended it to work, so from their pov it is working properly.

The discussion regarding multitasking is HTC's "memory optimization". That means the HOX boots with more ram available, not multitasking being what it should be - multitasking.
I really like this phone. I can deal with a moderate task killer. I don't use the phone like I do a computer. All I ask for is a level of multitasking where I can browse the web, change an album or two, send a message, and return to browsing the web - seamlessly. There is clearly enough ram, let us use it.
Sent from my EVO
Unfortunately HTC's current next generation smart phone's have been a big flop. I'm sure this update will make the current user base happy, but it will definitely not attract new users. HTC has been to slow with its updates to fix current problems and unfortunately it took me to install CM10 to finally use multitasking the way it was meant to be. Htc better fix their problems quickly or they'll be the next Nokia.
