[SCRIPT/ZIP][N9005][4.4.2/5.0] Init.d Support without need of use Custom Kernel - Galaxy Note 3 Original Android Development

Firstly a big thanks to @Ryuinferno for this very interesting thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1933849
Unfortunately, above script does not work in case of Samsung Qualcomm (Snapdragon) devices running 4.4.2/5.0 KitKat/Lollipop stock kernel.
Fortunately @shazzl in post #438 suggested a very interesting idea to start run-parts using /system/etc/init.qcom.post_boot.sh
I tuned, nuanced and implemented this idea in real life by creating my add_initd.sh script. I have created also a CWM/MOP flashable file to apply this modification as simple as possible
Requirements:
- a rooted Samsung Qualcomm (Snapdragon) device
- custom recovery (CWM/TWRP) or Mobile Odin PRO
- Busybox installed (every custom ROM should contains it, in case of (CF-Auto-)rooted pure stock - just install it using THIS APP from Play Store)
Download link:
add_qcom_initd.zip
Installation:
1. Custom recovery (KNOX 0x1) - open file using "Install Zip" option and confirm "Yes - install..."
2. Mobile Odin PRO - open file using "OTA/Update ZIP" option. UNTICK Everroot! This type of installation let you keep KNOX 0x0 if you still kept this flag (thanks to udating every ROM by Mobile Odin PRO only)

Thanks mate.
Done.

Nice work, i was going crazy by trying all Scripts 4 init.d support, to get it going on Stock Kernel. Your idea is great and i'll try it next time, when i'm going back 2 Stock.
Gesendet von meinem hlte

Looks interesting, can this be done to note 2 running 4.4.2 ?

Hey Alex, thanks for creating this init.d enabler I was trying to enable init.d on my stock Galaxy Tab 3 running KitKat with KNOX & nothing was working. I even tried adding support to kernels init.rc with no success. Not only that it taught me more about enabling init.d support & inspired me to write a script that utilizes your method, Ryuinferno's and one I came up with on my own combined with Ryuinferno's. It will also add a 2nd-init.d for ROMs with kernels that execute scripts too early and hang the system (I had one that did this). So you can have two init.ds one that came with ROM and another. If you could check it out, I'd really appreciate your input. It's still a WIP & definitely needs improvement.
Uni-init.d.sh

Question
Hi @_alexndr
I am using Galaxy Note 3 N9005XXUGNG1.
Rooted Stock ROM with Stock Recovery and Knox 0x0.
Can you tell me how can I enable init.d feature for the Stock Kernel with tripping Knox.
Thanks.

I hope that you meant "without tripping Knox"
Everything is well explained in post #1. Just use Mobile Odin PRO and follow according to point 2 (Installation)

No if you want to keep KNOX 0x0
BTW
I can confirm it works running Android L (tested on SM-G900F) so I'm sure it will be work running Android 5.0 for N9005

What would be different if I use install zip in safestrap CWM than in Mobile Odin?

Work Great Btw. The multi-window also seems to work fine from the little testing I did.

last I tried multi-window (on another device), i believe each "side" of the split-screen is "standalone"
(i.e. you have google maps on the left side of the screen, gmail on right. If you try to click on a hyperlink on google maps, chrome (or whatever your default browser is) will open up on the left replacing google maps)
wonder if it's possible to open chrome up on the right, so you get "better" multi-window/multi-tasking because your original app and "newly launched" apps are running side by side

I know it lists what you must have before installing but how did you do it?

i don't own a LG G Pad
as long as you already have a custom recovery installed (which requires initial root), and have a nandroid backup on the device itself AND on your computer, you should be fine
ask the other people who've already flashed it
I'm using almost the same device tree from CM11 (only need to convert the CM file structure-> omni file structure, no other changes), so there shouldn't be any unexpected surprises when you flash the ROM
I flashed this Last night and did flash the super user zip but I still diff not have root doff I miss a step?

Omni devs recommend Chainfire SuperSU
I stupidly did not flash St along with the multi window version and gapps. Now I can't get SU to work from the playstore. It says it needs to update binary but fails when it tries. I assume I need to flash the SU zip from my twrp recovery?
Anyone know how to get into recovery without root access? I was using a app that only works with root.

Yep I can get into recovery. For some reason trip wasn't able to install the latest supersu zip. Said it couldn't open it. So I'll try an older zip tonight.
I guess I still have root but I don't have root access due to lack of super user installed?

One thing I'm wondering. Is really flashing supersu through twrp sufficient to gain root? I've only hooked up my devices to run batch scripts in order to gain root so the idea of gaining root merely through flashing a zip is new to me.

TWRP should also warn you when you reboot TWRP after flashing a ROM without SuperSU...
Flashing the root update.zip will gain root.... TWRP/adb/fastboot is a lot easier than running batch scripts that use exploits (unless you are stock without TWRP, and you need exploit like Towelroot to intially root)

[TUTO] xposed on ODEX rom; yes it's possible now! (and with knox 0x0 too!)

You don't need to do the complicated process of deodexing your ROM yourself or installing a deodexed Android 5.0 Touchwiz ROM any more prior to installing xposed on our A-series now!
I am however not responsible if you brick your phone; please know the risks of continuing.
Note: this is for Samsung 5.0 Touchwiz only as based on arter97's thread [UNOFFICIAL] Xposed for Samsung Lollipop by arter97!
For 5.1 & 6 please go to Wanam's thread [UNOFFICIAL][5.1.1/6]Xposed for Samsung Lollipop/Marshmallow.
For non Samsung Touchwiz, go to rovo89's thread [OFFICIAL] Xposed for Lollipop/Marshmallow [Android 5.0/5.1/6.0].
For older versions I have no clue, please search the xposed general section.
Warning, this installation needs like 500MB on your system partition to do the conversion (below installation overwrites the system Odex files etc).
Debloat your system partition if necessary! This is really important, otherwise you'll end up in a boot loop!
You can do this with for example GS4 Lollipop Debloat which also works on our devices and SD Maid (thanks to Twiq for this tip in his post)
Debloating is now optional thanks to dkcldark, but it still doesn't harm to clear up some space and get rid of some apps you don't need.
As always, backup everything first, and you might want to have your original ROM zip ready to flash with Odin just in case of.
There is 2 possibilities to get it, one if you don't mind knox counter going up and another one if you want it to stay at 0x0.
Option 1:
knox 0x1, warranty void
This is the easiest one.
Root your device if you haven't done already. Kingroot works great!
If you haven't installed a custom recovery, do so; search the General section of our devices forum to search the TWRP that fits your particular device. Note: I've read that TWRP 3 might cause some issues, so might be better to have version 2. This was at the time of writing; issues might be solved by the time you read this.
Install the xposed installer from this thread. I used XposedInstaller_3.0-alpha4.apk.
Flash xposed bridge from this post through your custom recovery (make sure you have enough space on your system partition, see above). At the moment of writing it was xposed-v79-samsung-test.zip dkcldark's update to v85; download his .zip file from his post here to your phone. This one isn't yet mentioned in the OP as it's a test version.
Clean cache & dalvik.
Reboot. First reboot may take a while.
But after that, xposed is installed!
If everything worked, please report back to arter97's post with a screenshot of Xposed Installer -> Framework with your model number and firmware version as described in his post. And while you're there, buy him a beer! This will benefit future development.
Option 2:
knox 0x0, warranty ok
This one is a bit more complicated as it won't use a custom recovery (which triggers knox).
Root your device if you haven't done already. Kingroot works great!
But Kingroot can't work together with an app we need below, FlashFire, so we need to transform it to SuperSU. Install Super-Sume Pro from Play Store.
Follow on screen instructions of Super-Sume Pro to get SuperSU working.
Mr.W0lf has an alternative option to replace Kingroot by SuperSU through Terminal Emulator here and here (I haven't tested this myself though, so read the complete thread and do research!).
Install the xposed installer from this thread. I used XposedInstaller_3.0-alpha4.apk.
Install FlashFire from Play Store
As FlashFire has some issues with setting permissions of the odex files from the test version of arter97 right, MatrixDJ96 has created a zip which sets the permissions right in this post. Download this xposed-v79-samsung-test-matrixdj96.zip on your phone. dkcldark created an update to v85 with MatrixDJ96's FlashFire fix included; download his .zip file from his post here to your phone.
Open FlashFire, click on the "+"sign, select Flash ZIP or OTA and select the zip file you just downloaded. Continue in next screen; click the "+"sign again and select Wipe. Only select Dalvik cache and Cache partition here and continue.
Go to the bottom of the screen and click on the big Flash button (make sure you have enough space on your system partition, see above).
FlashFire will reboot the phone and start doing it's magic; this might take a while, and first boot too.
But after that, xposed is installed! And you still have your waranty on your phone!
If everything worked, please report back to arter97's post with a screenshot of Xposed Installer -> Framework with your model number and firmware version as described in his post. And while you're there, buy him a beer! This will benefit future development.

Great thread, a quick howto guide to get your device running xposed framework from stock unrooted. And thank you for putting me in the credits, it's feels good that when you know someone is actually reading your posts :victory:
Just a suggestion tho, there will be some people who haven't upgraded to lollipop, and maybe (unlikely now, but maybe) some already upgraded to 5.1.x/above. They will ask you whether these steps could be used on their setup or not, i think you should anticipate that too

Thanks for the comment, added remarks about non 5.0 Touchwiz versions!
And yes, apparently unlike a lot of people on this forum, I'm a reader, I first gather a lot of info before I even think about flashing anything or ask a question!
And credits go to whoever deserves them

I have no experience with 5.1 yet, but you could use the same steps as above but with Wanam's framework:
For 5.1 & 6 please go to Wanam's thread [UNOFFICIAL][5.1.1/6]Xposed for Samsung Lollipop/Marshmallow.
Hi.
Given that SuperSUME is now costing 4,50€ (which seems excessive for me, 1/2$ would be acceptable) do you know if using the alternate metod consisting on using a terminal emulator and a zip file to convert Kingroot to SuperSU would trip Knox?
Thanks for you tutorial.

AFAIK you wont trip knox as long as you don't change your recovery or kernel..
How can one know exactly how much free space there's on system partition to check if I need to debloat or not?
EDIT: Found out. Thanks anyway.
Took a gamble with about 300MB free on System and no problem
Just to report that it worked perfectly.
Thanks for the tutorial!

Would you mind to share on how to convert from Kingroot to SuperSU using terminal emulator and zip, without SuperSume?

Xposed shows that it's installed but the module "screen filter" says that the module is not enabled..
Also I have ticked the box in modules tab and then rebooting, still didn't work

someone has already brought Xposed to the a3 - sm a310f to run?
greetings
I've yet to get my A3, just researching what I want to do to it when it arrives. xposed is on the list.
If I root with this method http://forum.xda-developers.com/samsung-a-series/development/galaxy-series-cf-auto-root-t3280406
Can I then follow the rest of Option 2?
Many thanks.
Edit - as that method installs SuperSU I am assuming Option 2 will work - correct me if I am wrong

Yes indeed, but I think that method also trips knox so you could also install a custom recovery and go with option 1.
I prefer not to trip it and keep my warranty, thus option 2 with kingroot, but that's my personal preference.

[DEODEXED STOCK ROM] ANDROID MM 6.0.1 for SM-N915F/FY

Hello Galaxy Note Edge users
As we don't have much options in MM based custom ROMs for our Note Edge, and I have seen many Note Edge users asking for MM based Stock deodexed ROM in several threads. Here I have made a custom rom based on MM 6.0.1 for our Note Edge N915F
Since I own a N915F variant, I have made and tested it on my device. I'm not sure if it works with other variants or not. I do not promise for further developments of the ROM, and my intention is just to share my work with you guys.
ROM DETAILS:
Base: N915FXXU1DPC7 Region: ACR
MM 6.0.1
Rooted
BusyBOX added
Deodexed
Zipaligned
Debloated
Removed KNOX
Note: Before downloading make sure you have the same variant. I do not take any responsibility for damaged & Bricked devices so download and flash it on your own.
Always backup your ROM before flashing custom ROMs

I am using N915F. Have just flash 6.0.1 via odin. then TWRP 3.0 and flash this rom after that.

Are Edge panels are working?
On attached screenshot for me there is a strange thing. The bottom app icons which can be found on right side as a panel on Note Edge. It seems like a simple Note 4.

It is the same ROM you shared yesterday. As I said, I have deodexed, debloated and added root to it. So enjoy your own deodexed rom friend.
