Stupid question about symbol in the notification bar... - AT&T HTC One (M8)

I just got my S8 today, coming from a S3.
In my notification bar, to the left of the WiFi signal, I see a symbol that looks like a PJ or a sideways Z.
Anyone know what that is?
Love the phone so far. Big difference from the S3.

Thanks!

It always blows my mind when OEMs decide something like NFC should have a permanent place in the status bar when it's turned on. I hate it; takes up way too much room, and it's an ugly icon.

Agree. I wish for a clean status bar and I am always glad when ROMs have the option to hide the icons that you don't want to show.

[Q] Does the TB have different colored LEDs?

I am coming from the Droid 1 were I was able to setup different colored LED notifications based on different events. When I switched over to the Thunderbolt I can't seem to get those same options. Does the TB only have two LEDs?
For example, in Handcent I was able to set a different color LED depending on who sent me a text, now when I try to set that option it will not open the color selector. Same goes for TouchDown Exchange, I cannot customize the color of the LED.
Thank you.
I am also wondering about this feature. I know its been covered but I'm on my phone and don't feel like looking. But I think it has something to do with htc software or something like that

lol. nah, sarcasm ftw. I came from the OG to the thunder. Never really cared for the LED color changes.

I personally liked being able to set a different LED color for my txt messages, made it easy to see if I had something waiting when My volume is off at work.
Minor detail though, that I barely miss now. I can just turn off the led notification for anything else, has the same effect. It's almost invisible behind the speaker cover though, the led on the TB is really only useful for determining when it is fully charged IMO.
I went from the droid to the fascinate and had no LED. Now I went from the fascinate to the thunderbolt, and I'm very happy to have any led.

quick question about the LED's guys... sometimes i look at my phone and no lights are blinking but then i look and i have new texts. i havent changed any settings regarding led lights or downloaded any apps to change them. are they suppposed to stop blinking after a while or is something wrong? i remember on my old droid one they would keep blinking untill i checked it, but then again that was a motorola phone... thanks in advance

LED notification light

Is it just me or does the led notification light seem very low? If the phone is laying down flat it's very hard to see if your not lookin at it directly is anyone else having this issue as well?

I consider it a feature..I can accidentally set my phone face up at night without a notification lighting up the whole room and waking me up. It's all in how you look at it I guess!

I agree that it's not very noticeable and I like being able to see it. One of the smaller issues I have to complain about right now though.
i agree, does not light up the whole room. My old EVO used to do that. uggg
I want to know when the light is going to work at least how it says in the manual
Okay thought it was only me. Yeah other than that I love this phone especially how fast it charges!
Yeah I thought the same thing when I first got my photon, I don't mind it though, and your right it does charge super fast,

Well, until you mentioned it.................Yes, its low unless I'm actually looking at the phone (and this likely saves battery?) BUT, as stated, I dont want my bedroom glowing when I'm sleeping either. Not like I would get up and actually check it anyway!

V10 issues 10 minutes after unboxing

So, I have 4 problems I'd like to see fixed if anyone knows how to do so. I just moved from an LG G2 to the V10. The first issue being:
1.) On my G2, I was able to use the "LG On Screen Phone" software to mirror my phone onto my Windows computer and control it. I don't seem to have that option on my V10. Is there a way to get this working?
The other three problems I have I think are more software/android related:
1.) On my lockscreen, if I have any notifications (SMS, missed call, emails, etc), the icons no longer show in the top notification bar. Is there a way to get these icons back?
2.) On my lockscreen, I'd like to remove the camera shortcut so I can't open it on the lock screen. Is there a way to remove this?
3.) It seems that no notifications are blinking the LED light. When the screen is off and I have an unread notification, missed call, SMS, etc, the LED doesn't do anything. Is there a way to get this turned on?
EDIT: I've found my answer on OSP. Apparently it doesn't work on Lollipop (I've hated lollipop). Does anyone know when the next version of Android is coming out for this phone? I think it's Marshmallow.
Thanks!
Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but the V10 has no notification LED. That's what the 2nd window is for.
That's one thing I do miss. It was rather convenient glancing to see if I had a message, missed call, etc.

No notifications in the status bar on lockscreen is a lollipop thing. There is no status bar clock either. Just network and battery.

Well what about the brightness of the 22nd window? Can that be changed? It seems very dim And I can only see it well when the room is dark.

OMG - THIS.
I'd sacrifice a little more battery to have this brighter, particularly once they release the wireless charging back.

Always on notifcation?

Can anyone show me an example of how text notifications and others will work with always on when you receive it, I am used to having a notification light and I want to make sure this isn't a deal breaker for me.
if you use always on display no notification led appared. icons of the notification appears in the top of clock
In terms of "alerting" you to the phone, definitely not as good as led lights, because from distance it looks the same whether you have a notification or not, and nothing really pops out at you when you get new notification. But I still prefer it because you can see all the notifications you have by simply looking at the screen without turning it on or pressing anything
Will AoD cause issues with screen burn in? Does it stay in the same place or does it move around? And if it moves around, does it move to random locations or does it stay in the same exact locations?

Stays in same spot - but of course notification icons and clock constantly changing it slightly. I dont think its an issue due to how dim it is. There is a setting to make it bright, but it warns of battery drain. I have no need to make it bright though.

Are you sure? I've definitely seen mine in at least a couple of different spots (it seems to change after a certain amount of time rather than number of locks)

LOL. No I'm not. Since you said this, I just checked again and it seems it may have slide down the screen ever so slightly. I also just tried to turn it off and back on a few times to mark where it was and it hasnt changed. So, I will keep an eye on it and see if I can tell if there's movement. Thanks.

Lol yea to be honest when I first saw it in a different spot it didn't even occur to me that it might be a thing to prevent burn ins. I'd even admit to having shaken the phone a couple times to move it back once I couldn't find any settings for the clock location -_-...one of the stupider things I've done in 2017

s8+ it moves slightly. random spots I think. same with the home button, that moves too. all ever so slightly. I think they did this to stop burns.
I hope the v30 isn't as obvious like the v20's burn, I had burn from like day 1.....

AOD after v9 update?

I see the charging indicator and percentage is always on now when the Tab is charging, is there a way to get the clock on as well? Like the phones? I saw a thread about developer options, but that just keeps the screen awake.
I was wondering if it can show the charging battery percentage, why can't we show the clock?? Am I missing something?
Thanks

Thanks. Looks like your recommend is working, does it move the time around the screen? Not that I'm too worried about burn in on an almost three year old tablet, but still. The settings aren't the cleanest, so maybe I missed it.

"Always on AMOLED" has all needed features like "Auto movement" and "Time Rules".
However, there is always the risk of burn in!
You should use AOD intermittently.
