[Q] SD icon (Top right ) keeps showing red x - Xperia Z2 Tablet Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi
My SD icon keeps showing a red x as if no SD is inserted. The SD I use is Samsung 64 GB Class 10.
It is recognized whenever "storage" is pressed under settings, I'm just wondering why and whether anyone else had this problem.
Thanks

Hmm are you sure that the icon you think is the sd-card might actually be the icon for a sim-card? If you have the LTE version but no sim-card there I think you will get an icon with a red x over it!

I have the LTE version and that too shows a red cross but I do not have a sim card, so that's expected. I tried another SD card, a 5 GB and this was also recognized but the red x remained. I can upload a picture (screenshot) if possible and if needed. Thx again

Hmm I was almost certain that it was the sim card. Sure, upload a picture if you want but I'm out of ideas hehe.

Just throwing out some ideas... Have you rebooted with the device with the card in / was it powered on when you inserted the sd card? If it's empty, and you format it in the device, would it go away?

There is no format option, only an erase option and I did that and rebooted.

Yeah thats the sim-card, cause one of the corner on the icon is "clipped". Are you sure its mounted/configged properly?

I feel stupid. I thought it was an SD card notification icon, but now you mention it, it is a SIM card icon, and I don't have a SIM card inserted.

1. Best way to FAT32 my Micro SD card? I saw HP tools. But I dont have anyway to put the Micro SD card into the comp can I do the FAT while it is still in my phone?
2. No sounds with the latest Kernel is that a bug or is there something I need to do on my end. Same with the Text sounds there are no my phone does not even vibrate for a text.
3. something weird I would put it into deep sleep solid green LED and then as i was walking or driving it might go to orange for a few seconds is that something to do with me moving around or just something else.
Thanks for the help.

1. HP Tool. Of course you can do it with the card in the phone, just use mass storage mode in Winmo.
2. Which kernel? Did you try formatting your card? ^^ I'd guess not haha.
3. The phone needs to wake - things syncing in the bg, etc. If you have no apps set to sync, airplane mode on, basically everything disabled it should stay solid green. Anything else that could wake it, will make it flicker orange. That's the point, the LED indicates sleep state.
what should I download to reformat and where can I get it from
Thanks again arrrghhh

If you're using FRX06, it's pretty obvious you didn't read the first post. The HP Tool is linked there.

Bad icons sort after unplug cabel

Hello guys
I have SE NEO 2 months, and I am problem, when I plug phone with usb cabel to pc and then unplug him, sometimes (like every 4 connection) happens that icons are sorted differently and some icons on phone desktop are deleted (not in menu). ITs really flustrating to sort them back.
Any idea?

App2sd causes this problem.

I suspect you're right, but why would anyone add APPS2SD when it is built in?
Possibly a rhetorical question.
It happens with the built in function as well since it's the same as apps2SD. I'm not sure exactly what happens but I assume the SD card is somehow treated differently when connected the PC though it's not completely unmounted like it is in Mass Storage Mode.
The items vanish from your Home Screen because by connecting your phone to the PC the phone lose it's connection to them. This is why you should never move widgets or apps for which you create a shortcut on your Home Screen to your SD card.

Any apps on the SD card become "unavailable" if the USB Storage mode is active as the SD card is unmounted. If no apps have been installed or moved to the SD card, this doesn't happen. Unfortunately, the apps reaarange themselves sometimes when the SD card remounts. Although this seems not to happen on FW .62. That I've noticed that is!
ok guys thanks for answers,
So if I am right problem is that I have App2sd which I have...
So how can I fix that? uninstall this app will help?
Or its just the problem with apps which I moved with App2sd from internal memory to sd card?
If problem is in apps which I moved to SD card, I can send them back, but there is no space on internal memory, its only few MB on it. How do you guys do this?

This is built-in anyway and solving your problem.
CONNECT/DISCONNECT your phone normal..etc...unmount..eject. Then android itself fixes those problem.

No and thats the problem, I unplug phone from the USB cabel, waiting 30 sec for SD, and some icons from theme are still deleted and icons are sorted badly.
My android dont fix it back.
Move everything that has either a widget or a shortcut on your homescreen back to your phone memory.
oh wow, it looks like works, pretty ****y I must say...
So there is no way I can have many shortcuts on my theme, because phone memory is really small
Thank you anyway for help!

[Q] Can't transfer files after upgrading to 64GB micro SD.

Hi. I've had my Optimus G with a 32GB micro SD for a while now. I've never had a problem with it, and I upgraded to a 64GB micro SD card yesterday. I wanted more room for Spotify music, hence the upgrade.
My problem is when I connect the phone to my laptop (Windows 7) I put the phone in media sync mode and open it up by going to my computer > LG Optimus G > Micro SD. When I look at the micro SD in Windows it shows a file(?) that says "Local Disk", it's a grey and blue drive with a windows logo over it. Whenever I try to transfer my photos to the card it says "The files cannot be transferred, the device has either been disconnected or has stopped responding.
Any help?
I'm also using Nova Launcher Prime if that may have anything to do with it.

I used this

to format the card as fat32, which solved all my problems.

Thanks, but the card had been formatted. I ended up talking to an LG rep over my laptop to resolve it. My camera wouldn't launch, and I couldn't open my settings. I ended up doing a factory reset and everything is working now.

Yeah. I just got home a few days ago with the card and it seemed that my phone got an attitude. No camera, settings, Google+, Facebook, etc. Pretty much all of my apps would not launch.

My cell phone has changed it's internal model, lot's of errors

Hello, I have a motorola razr d3 xt920 and after using the crappy Multi mount SD card to be able to mount as MASS STORAGE many problems started happening, like no more option to choose which sim to use (it's a dual sim phone), no option to turn one sim off, Play Store not working anymore (force closes)... and after all I've found in the about that the phone is now presenting itself as XT919 (the single SIM brother). That could explain the lack of dual sim menus. Also after doing something it came up with a message saying FLEX was not found. FLEX seems to be some motorola related layer in their phones. So if anyone can help, is there a file or way to set it back as XT920 and also works like one of those? there's no CWM for this phone yet and no good firmware that I could re-flash. there's a bug that disable one of the sims if you reflash it.

In case you are rooted, you can try to change the build.prop file. Your phone's identity is in there (just scroll down) and then change it back to yours, this might solve it. In case you are not rooted, I really don't know what to do (except from rooting and then try the first method)... You may have accidentally changed the build no. or something like that. I don't think the ad card has anything to do with it. Hope this helped a little
