ACTUAL 4.4.4 GPE/AOSP ROMS for SAFESRAP 4.4.2 NC2/NC5+ 4.3MK2&more! - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S 4

NEW AOSP / GE ROMS Working for Safestrap 4.4.2:
Heres the latest:as of JULY 21st 2014!
gogolie's port of ECHOE GOOGLE PLAY EDITION V4.4.4 for VERIZON SAFESTRAP
http://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23578570567717820
gogolie's Official Google Edition 4.4.4 v2 VZW_SAFESTRAP
http://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23578570567717823
These ROMs contain Xposed and Gravity and Wanam Modules for Xposed these apps are not only nifty for theming or personalization and options but have been known to retrigger wifi into working if a softboot is done from them.
both of the above ROM's should be installed on a clean slate IE Wipe FULLY 1st!
Once wiped install via safestrap and reboot. These are still a bit buggy but hey at least I'm showing you that its possible both of these for sure have working data for VZW in 4g/lte form. If you can help or suggest or bug test and post or PM me any info on helping remove these final bugs we will have a fully working ROM in AOSP/GPE FORM FINALLY NOT JUST SILLY THEMES OVER TOUCHWIZ!!! The more donations I get reguarding specific ROMS is what I tend to spend my time developing so if this is something you'd like to see then you know what to do.
Thanks and enjoy,
gogolie
More ROMS known to work if forced (manual settings or mods to enable data, ect))
Jamal2367's Official Google Edition 4.4.4 works for Safestrap:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2544474
http://www.livewinater.com/mirror/get_file.php?id=30
Install the ROM then once you've booted enter the APN settings under more networks. Enter in the following for APNS:
name: Verizon
mcc="310"
mnc="004"
apn="internet"
type="default,mms,dun"
mmsc="http://mms.vtext.com/servlets/mms"
protocol="IPV4V6"
name: Verizon Internet"
mcc="310"
mnc="004"
apn="VZWINTERNET"
type="default,dun,supl"
protocol="IPV4V6"
roaming_protocol="IPV4V6"
then be sure and save your APN. Now restart the phone. if 4g doesnt pop on then go back into settings and more networks and search for carrier. once Verizon pops up click it and it should start reading from the APN you have selected or entered. As far as I've gotten but figured you all should know. Only thing thats not working as far as I know (very little time in the ROM itself) is WiFi still. its an issue with our kernel obviously anyone with a patch or fix please let the world know. thx
There is also:
Echoe GE V4 from my friend friedrich420 for 4.4.4

I had this working somewhat as well but not quite as easy to setup as ROM above.

AOSP ROMS WORKING FOR SAFESTRAP ANDROID v4.3- 4.2.2:
Install through Safestrap by restoring these nandroid images. IE UNRAR this file into your TWRP backup folder AKA SafeStrap folder. This is a preview build. Give feedback if you want or just check it out to see it is possible. AOSP in Safestrap. worked for both MK2 and NC2 doesnt work for MJ7. Those of you updating and downgrading please us AP 4.3 for these ROMs. Users please take screenshots and post them in this thread for the OP Developers please help me fix the broken wifi.
Installing via Restore for a n00b:
1st enter safestrap and create a backup of your current setup. Next create a backup of your setup but only choose to back up your cache. If your able to name the backup before creating it and name it similar to the ROM you'd like to try do this all with an external sd card.
2nd Pop that SDCARD into the computer that you downloaded the ROM too. Using explorer or similar browse to your twrp/backup/numbered folder/and the folder you did the cache backup to. This folder will contain cache.ext4.win and an .md5 for that file. Unrar all contents of the .rar file for the ROM you want to install into this folder overwrite the cache file.
3rd Put the sdcard back in the phone and in safestrap enter Restore choose the folder name of the new ROM and press restore. This should be restored to a ROM slot if you don't know what your doing avoid stock restore.
Only bug is broken Wifi all else should be fixed. Developer settings to enable unknown resources errors out and needs to be turned on via ADB the code for this would be something like:
Code:
boolean unknownSource = false;
if (Build.VERSION.SDK_INT < 3) {
unknownSource = Settings.System.getInt(getContentResolver(), Settings.System.INSTALL_NON_MARKET_APPS, 0) == 1;
}
else if (Build.VERSION.SDK_INT < 17) {
unknownSource = Settings.Secure.getInt(getContentResolver(), Settings.Secure.INSTALL_NON_MARKET_APPS, 0) == 1;
} else {
unknownSource = Settings.Global.getInt(getContentResolver(), Settings.Global.INSTALL_NON_MARKET_APPS, 0) == 1;
}
if someones able to whip up a patch for that via a zip flash that'd be awesome
4g works great. Everything else along with it works great as far as I know.

how are these working out for everyone?

Checked out the illusion rom and there it works alright there are missing apps like the playstore Gmail so you can't add your account and when you activate halo your status bar doesn't display any icons like signal or battery other than those things the themes work and halo works great so it's good to see some asop on our phones

sounds good im about to install the slim ill chime in after i play with it

I installed the SlimRom. Very nice... cool to see AOSP 4.2 on my S4 again. i noticed the reboot doesn't work (have to do a battery pull), but I seem to remember all AOSP Roms doing this when I was back on ME7. Also I seem to have no access to my external SD.

try downgrading your AP back to 4.3 im guessin your 4.4 now?

screenshots? OP? that idiot didnt include any whats this AOSP crap look like?
jk but seriously post your best screenshot for a thank you.
but seriously. overall smooth and fairly fast and responsive at least when compared to a TW rom. the themes and everything look great the original developers did a fine job. phone, messaging ect should all work along with sounds, video everything basically except wifi, including hotspot and the power menu. this is the same on both roms because theyre run off the same base. regular USB tethering does work tho. if your not hearing sound and have upgraded your ap is probably off or not matched with your modem. it was tested on mk2 with mk2 modem all works, and a revert mk2 with 4.4 bootloaders nc2 hlos and nc2&mk2 modem and same results it probably wont work if your AP is still 4.4 you can use my other thread to help you come down

I would lik to share my findings :
I downloaded AOSP-IllusionROM, very nice fast rom, I like themes, automatic brightness levels adjustment and the other available customizations.
As the others mentioned it doesn't power off !!!
Many thanks gigilie...

I'll share some screen shots here soon as well I'm just curious as to what gapps we should download with illusion gigilie the rom is great but no playstore or Gmail it makes it hard also went and tried to download the playstore apk as well but every time I went to turn off the security settings for unknown sources to be installed it kept force closing and thanks gigilie for some more great roms

Im a noob, how does hwcomposer not working affects the system, it is slow? gliches in 3d apps or something like that?
Oh, and btw, can i use the apps (camera, dropbox, etc) without an sd card? I'm having that trouble with other roms (those apps says i have no sd card and force close, but i got 5+GB of free internal space).
Thx in advance, waiting your answer in order to flash! :good:

Yes that's what hwcomposer is. Some apps will not work without an sdcard because that is where they store their info.

Still, need sd card to use some apps, i dont get it, maybe safetrap related or even Jelly bean, but i can't access my music on internal storage, neither connect to pc as massive storage.
PD: Lack of HW composer is noticiable. some gliches in menus, didnt open an app, as i wont use this rom (since cant use internal storage :/)

I just flashed your ROM and I found out that Whatsapp cannot use.
The following alert appears on whatsapp.
Note: Tablets are not currently suppored.

Same with whatsapp, both original and +, complains about tablet.
And as for me downloading apps updates from play via WiFi is slow. Speedtest shows 10mbps on wifi. Apps downloading way faster via HSDPA.
Overall i love that rom, switched from CM10 builds. Any chance that we see fixed hwComposer soon?

Installation instructions
1. Download the latest build
2. Download the latest SlimGapps 4.4.x or other 4.4 specific gapps
3. In recovery, full wipe, and manually format /system
4. Flash ROM and the gapps you want, reboot
Note 1: This rom comes with DPI set at 245. This will make the fonts/icons smaller than usual there are many ways to change this to the stock 320... Edit: The latest builds have a DPI adjuster in Settings/Interface/
Note 2: Superuser comes disabled by default! Please find the Dev Tools app in your app drawer, select Developer Options then look under "Debugging" for Root Access. select apps only or apps and ADB. (Btw ART is working great on this rom, if you would like to test it it is under Select runtime)
Note 3: Build's based off the new partition layout
YOU MUST FLASH AND RUN CAPTAINTHROWBACK'S SENSE 5 4.3 UPDATE ROM BEFORE FLASHING THIS
Or have used the RUU from HTC to upgrade to 4.13
REQUIREMENTS:
-HBOOT 2.10
-RECOVERY WITH NEW PARTITION LAYOUT
-FLASH AND BOOT INTO THE SENSE 5 4.3 ROM FIRST OR THIS WILL NOT WORK!
see Captain_Throwback's instructions http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2639180
Also once you do update everything you will need to do the HTC Unlock to be able to flash your recovery. Don't worry, you will still be S-Off, if you already were.
I have to say it again DO NOT FLASH THE BUILDS FOR THE NEW PARTITION LAYOUT UNLESS YOU HAVE PERFORMED THE UPGRADE TO THE LATEST SENSE 5 4.3 upgrade! You must actually flash the rom not just the recovery. You have been warned.
Changelogs can be found on the slimroms website
http://www.slimroms.net/index.php/news
Download Links: There are 2 versions of each build at the moment. I'm not sure how long I'll support the old Partition layout so it would be a good thing to upgrade to stay current. PLEASE pay attention to what you are downloading and Flashing.

And huge thanks to @Captain_Throwback and @xHausx for working on the parttion layout and @GoblinZ for helping me, help him.
There really is no reason to not update your Firmware, Hboot and recovery to have the new layout. It uses the storage the same way as newer devices and allows you to format your SD card to a different format if you desire.
Reminder: Any previous backups you have will not work on the new layout. But this is a great time to clean up your SD card and start fresh which will probably make things quicker in the long run.

Scott, my device isn't active anymore so I can't answer that.
My understanding though is that there may be a hang up on data when switching networks. Like 3g to LTE and vice versa. An airplane toggle resets it usually.
I also saw in a different thread that someone uses tasker to turn of mobile data when they arent using it. You could probably set it to turn data off for one minute every 20 minutes or so. You'd probably never notice it and wouldn't get stuck without a data connection.
Sent from my EVO using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
I only have lte at work so usually driving when it switches to 3g but I haven't noticed any issues and WiFi to 3g works great to
()() <--- buck tracks
I have noticed the connection dropout requiring a data or airplane toggle to restart. This first build was a vanilla unmodified SlimKat. Future builds will integrate fixes to these and other issues.
SlimKat is being released in weekly increments so I will keep that release schedule.
Thank you all for the feedback! :thumbup:

Great job on this build. I have been working on one myself, but I haven't actually gotten a successful build compiled. That aside, I haven't noticed any problems with this ROM at all. I haven't even noticed any data dropouts, although I'm not a heavy data user.
oxymoron1 said:
I have noticed the connection dropout requiring a data or airplane toggle to restart. This first build was a vanilla unmodified SlimKat. Future builds will integrate fixes to these and other issues.
SlimKat is being released in weekly increments so I will keep that release schedule.
Thank you all for the feedback! :thumbup:

so i've downloaded this from my phone, and from my macbook pro, and both downloads give me an error upon installation.. =/
it says set_metadata_recursive: some changes failed and than goes on about executing updater binary in zip, etc etc... anyone have a clue..?

There were many changes to the Kit Kat builds of android to include selinux features. This requires an update to the recovery software. Please make sure to use either deck's patched TWRP or selinux capable TWRP.

Downloading now, can't wait to flash and test out rooted lollipop. Thanks for supporting our device! Cheers mate
Tried flashing this rom tonight. The modem flashed fine, but I get an error when installing the Rom. "Error: unable to mount 'system'
I was coming from the crdroid ROM, and wiped cache, DC, system and data as advised.

I ran into the same error, however, the rom flashed fine. I think it might have to do with the device being plugged in at the time of flash.
You should see that after the installation is done, it says the installation was successful.

When I go to reboot after the flash tho, a popup warns that no system is installed. I didn't go any further and just restored my backup just to be safe.

This Rom works awesome... Yes you will get an error after install... Ignore it. I have been running this since it's initial post in another thread for about a week no issues....
Thanks

All errors fixed also includes the missing tethering and networks not loading?
Also you made a joke about missing the clock app is it still missing?
Also is xposed included in this version? I loved that in your other rom.
I love the rom otherwise. Super lightweight and snappy.
Thanks for all the hard work we all really appreciate it

Finally have a thread up!
Running the Debloated rooted/xposed version with G3TWB and all is running swell. No complaints from me.

When you update the rom with xposed and framework, would i be able to dirty flash that over your original stock rooted rom?
Any one taking bets?
How long will it take for someone to inquire about a 855 version? Sorry if my cynical side is showing.....good work on this rom. Us little guys really appreciate some local flavour (note the correct spelling) eh?
Just confirming, I can go from rooted/bumped stock kk to this following OP instructions and just keep moving along? No more retverting to original stock?
Thanks
So just to make things straight. Flashing this Rom and the baseband allows me to not have to update my kitkat to that of the official lollipop ota right?
Thats correct, be sure to be on the latest recovery, no more OTA. If you want to return to KK be sure to have the KK baseband
Edit: Fixed the title of the thread. lol oops
Great. Now I just hope I have no issues with all my casting apps. I guess that's what backups are for.

image by anseboviThis rom was compiled by me only, Scott.Hart.bti has done the real work!
I am proud to present to you BeanStalk Builds put together by myself. This is a build composed off of the CM builds and ScottHart.BTI has added alot of features on top of it. So you get speed, stability, and ultra customization ability. Many of the additional code additions come from slim ROM and also Derteufels build and have been modified to work with my current setup. A huge thanks to Derteufel and the Slim ROM guys for their work and dedication. Also a big thanks to everyone involved with CM as that is the building stone in this project. Thanks to skyliner33v for the bootanimation and wallpapers!

Im going to say this once and only once... I am doing this for fun. It is my CHOICE to share my work with everyone. If you decide that you do not like my work, good for you.. Move on and flash something else. I will not tolerate ungrateful people in my thread.***
[*]Make sure you are rooted with a custom recovery & on "UCMD3" Modem!!

[*]Boot into recovery
[*]Perform a FULL factory wipe and wipe /system and dalvik cache as a precaution
[*]Flash BeanStalk build

[*]You will NEED to FLASH SuperSU by itself until I have the time to fix the one built into my rom.

This has been a long road but finally!!NOTICE: THIS BUILD HAS KITKAT BEANSTALK IMAGES & BOOTANI!!!
The reason for this is because BeanStalk WILL NOT boot on this device with the 5.0 parts for some strange reason?
NEW BUILD with Beanstalk papers & bootani from kitkat!
Sweet ROM. Hope you can get the boot ani from LP going....it's killer!
Edit: 2 Notes. To get the pull down tiles to show, go to Smart Pull Down and set it to anything but "Off".
To get Weather to show in the pull down....turn on the Weather toggle and then tap the null-null in the pull down.....that will take you to the Weather Settings.
Sent from my Nexus 6 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
had to install SuperSU-v2.45 thru recovery to gain root.

I believe that we need to repartition the device for our gapps & maybe for the bootani as well. I've been looking at doing this but I need to find a stock "pit" file so I can proceed. If you could point me to that file then we could possibly flash any gapps and have the 5.0+ bootani with wallpapers.

If you would like to mess around & see what all will work from 5.0 & up I'd be happy to add those things back into my BS builds? Like the bootani & wallpapers. When I add supersu the way Scott has it setup it always gives an error when flashing so I am trying to implement it into my rom like in my others. I'm always busy but open for suggestions to make my work better or whatnot. Also did you see my post about a pit file? Not really sure how much that would help users but it would allow us to flash the full gapps if we desired to do so.

Gabesir + Mid3vil  Awesome ROM!
Norma S6 /N5 port , Fully converted to sprint and fully working ( I hope )
Installation:
- Make a backup ( dont come crying if you didn't)
- Copy the rom to your phone
- Install ROM (recommended clean wipe)
- Wait for the initial boot ( takes time )
- Go through setup wizard ( If there is no signal on first boot , reboot )
- Profit
(Warning if you coming from AOSP, AOKP or other non TW rom you need need to wipe internal memory)
How to flash the rom best practice :
1: Backup your internal SD to your PC
2: Download the OC5 tar (stock LP) from HERE
3: Pull the battery out for 10-15 secs , insert the battery again and put your phone on download mode (volume down+home+power) and connect the phone to PC
4: Open odin and click on AP and select your tar file (OC5)
5: Phone will reboot , at the setup screen power the phone off and put it back to download mode(refer to step 3)
6: Download CFautoroot from HERE
7: Unzip cfautoroot and you will find a odin and a tar file. open odin and click AP and select the auto root tar
8: Phone will reboot again
9: Power the phone down and go back to download mode (refer to step 3 )
10: Download TWRP 2.8.7.0 from HERE
11: Odin the TWRP tar file.
12: Power up the phone on Recovery mode ( volume up+home+power)
13: Go to wipe and select all but external SD card
14: Flash the rom from this post ( it will take like 10 minutes to boot just wait don't freak out)
15: Complete your initial set up. ( once you get to the wizard if there is no signal wait a few minute or reboot )
16: Restore your SD card back up except for the folder call android.
Whats under the hood:
- Norma S6 port
- Sprint apps
- N5 apps
And much more to list just flash and find out~! :good:
Who can I blame for glitches and other pesky bugs
Mid3vil
Known S6 port glitches:
Launcher grid option greyed out fix :
Change theme from default to something else. Then you can change grid size and go back to default theme if you want
Some market Themes don't apply correctly:
Remember this is a port and themes are made for factory devices.:silly:

Are you trying to fix the messages bubbles...or just the icon theme to N5...I had gotten a zip from mid3vil and when i flashed, The icon would not be there but in private apps it was there, So what i did was extract the delight open apk, and simply pressed it and installed it like an app and it worked for me, i now have the n5 themed mms working.

I beleive it's the bubbles. It doesn't theme if you apply a theme. In the screen shots of the themes you can see they match the overall theme but in the end you still only have the same blue/yellow, blue/orange, grey/grey options. This has been all s6 Roms not just this one but I almost bet that between these 2 devs they will figure it out.
If your still on a note 3 this rom is gonna keep you going till you upgrade. Data is solid, everything works and it's got note 5 goodies taboot.. What's not to like.. You won't be disappointed!
