Hover features request - Paranoid Android Features Development

Hover is nice addition to PA, but it lacks some usefulness halo had.
1. Ability to be moved anywhere. In current state, it blocks notification bar and in few days, this annoyed me for several times, after update, hover stick there for even longer. Could it be remade in a way which would allow me to choose where hover will stick, kinda like pie controls? For example from right side of screen.
2. Persistence. Halo was always present, notification appeared and I if cant answer, I could in few minutes, still in floating mode (highly prefered!), hover doesnt bring this functionality.
What about ability to choose opening notifications in floating mode/normal mode? Like it was in 3.99, tap to open in normal mode, long press to choose floating mode (would be awesome if floating mode could be set as default).

I agree that Hover could definitely have more customization options. The parameter I miss most is the timeout: 5 second is too short for me.

Agreed.

Fully agree with this, Especially point number 2. It annoys me that after five seconds I've lost my chance to make use of floating mode. We need to be able to bring Hover back manually once the five seconds has elapsed, maybe by dragging down the top left edge of the status bar or something?

A PA dev has shown a screenshot of a feature later to come, so you can use floating mode after the 5 seconds. Here it is: https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-...na348wJo/w329-h585-no/2014-05-03+15.49.11.png

Thanks for sharing the screenshot. Still feel like it won't be as efficient as the old bubble though. I guess we'll wait and see...

I use hover as a nice notification and dont really care about the floating capabilities.
I would like an option to go directly to the full app when i press the notification.

Swipe once finished
It would be amazing if you could swipe away the hover box once you are finished, like Google Now cards. I'd pay money for that!

Swiping away the notification would be good but I mean swiping away the Hover App. For example, if you have pressed the notification to go to Hangouts and replied to a message, instead of touching anywhere but the Hover box to go back to what you were doing, you could swipe away the Hover box.

Open source coming soon?

Wouldn't count on it

Access Notifications While Browsing?

When I'm using the web browser, I can't access the notification pull down. So if texts or other things come in, I have to go to the home screen, pull down and then look at the notification. Am I missing something? Is there a setting? I would like to have the notification bar show up when the address bar does I think.

this is a HUGE problem for me too. I've asked a couple times in different browser threads and no one likes to ask this. the only answer I've ever seen is just like this,a quick snappy "use this awesome browser instead" and I otherwise like the stock browser best. but seriously, this royally pisses me off too. anyone with a solution, please speak up
is there a way to install sense 3.0 browser on this phone from an evo 3d? I like the new browser in every way except the status bar thing mentioned here, and the loss of the omni-awesome-bar the old one had. is it just one system apk to install over, or is it more complicated than that?
...because, I've noticed other things I've tried, like the flashlight from the 3d, don't match the screen resolution and the button is not where you must press on screen to work it. would browser have this same problem? and, is it just one apk or more integrated with the system than that?
thank you,
With the E3D you have to tap the capacitive menu button while in some browsers to make the notifications bar reappear. Maybe try tapping the recent apps button?
doesn't work. even the recent app button won't let you get to the status bar. literally must go back to home screen, or switch to an app that shows the status bar. either way, the browser page reloads, which sucks if you are composing something or on YouTube
one work around is by clicking the refresh button ^_^
If you scroll to the top of the browser, options come up at the bottom of the screen (add, bookmarks, saved, tabs) If you hit tabs, the notification bar comes down and you can resume the page your viewing without refreshing

I'm having the same issue. My friend says his notification bar is pretty much permanent and if it doesn't appear, all he does is scroll to the top of the webpage and it appears. For those of us that are having problems, I think the most efficient option is to use the "refresh" workaround!

This app creates a hot spot that allows you to pull down the notification bar from ANY full screen app.

that bird bar looks promising... does it drain battery any?
To get to the notification bar from the stock browser, just press and hold anywhere on the screen and the bar should appear.

Simplest way I've found is to flick the screen just a bit, as if you are going to scroll up or down, which makes the browser address/menu-bars appear. If you select 'Tabs' on the lower-right, you not only see your tabs but the notification bar also appears.

What exactly have you tried? I can't REcompile 4.2 apks yet, but if tablet UI really was removed in 4.2, couldn't the navbar layout file in SysUI be tweaked instead?
The layout file for the navbar doesn't specify a layout gravity or padding. So, wouldn't it be possible to apply those two layout properties to the parent's framelayout to push the keys left?
I would definitely try this, but the N10 I have now is being returned when my 32GB N10 comes in next week...

Yes, but he is suggesting that ppl use LMT launcher (essentially soft key replacement if used right) and then use the toggle to hide the stock keys.
Anyone heard if button savior is going to be updated for 4.2? The menu button doesn't work so it's pretty much unusable.

another, perhaps more drastic, option is use ROMs that are bringing back the old tabletUI (like Paranoid Android).

Yeah, me too. Don't know how it should work.
Yes, it would be great if the navigation buttons could be moved around.
Personally I would like them on the right hand side - of whatever way up I am using.
It is really annoying with the thing sitting comfortably in my lap to have to lift it up to clear my sweater or shirt every time I want to to go back, or to access another app.

First you have to set your Keys on LMT its not just Open it and its done. Pie = something like a key ,its works like when u use the AOSP browser with full screen, that you have buttons at the side and you get like half a circle with options and you move your finger to it. Or you can just set gestures to go back, home or open apps, depends on taste.
- But no, it doesnt move your soft keys to the left, it gives you something better imho, more accesible.
- shadow thanks never tried to rebooot it worked well...

So do you finally need to root your device for this combination of LMT and toggle fullscreen?
Is anyone able to confirm, that it is working without root...?
I can't get gestures to work, but pie does. Any suggestions?
Edit: Pie is going to be much better anyway, but still a bit dumbfounded as to why it works on my N4 but not N10.

Sorry if I sound unappreciative. I appreciate the info but a lot of us who aren't rooted would like to know .
Both apps request root access on my devices, so I would imagine it is required.

Awesome module. I noticed two issues with it myself. 1. When using LMT (Pie) I can't use the control to bring down the notification shade. It doesn't do anything when I click that item. 2. Chatheads for Facebook Messenger don't show up then they will randomly show up for a split second then go away. Other then that, I am loving this, makes my Note 2 even "bigger". Thanks!

[MOD][XPOSED][4.4+] Force Translucent KitKat [V3][4.23]

This module will force the apps selected to use the new Kit Kat Translucent Navbar and Status bar. When loaded, this app loads a list view of all your installed apps and you can freely select which to turn on.
Options per app include:
- Translucent Navigation Bar
- Translucent Status Bar
- Top Padding
- Bottom Padding
The padding options were added because some apps (especially those with Action Bars) will end up having useful information and buttons hidden under the now translucent system bars. The padding option forces the app to be in a smaller window so you can still enjoy both the translucent system bars & the whole view for the app.
Overall options include:
- Import/Export Settings : the settings per app can be exported and imported into a CSV file. Useful for testing things out while having a fail safe, switching devices, or sharing your values. CSV files open wonderfully in Excel and Google Docs
- Multi Edit : After selecting multi edit, you are brought to a screen with the 4 per app options, set them as you desire, then you are brought back to the main app list, select which apps you want your new config you just did applied to. It will overwrite all settings for the apps selected, unselected apps aren't changed.
The following apps work wonderful with translucent nav and status bar and padding of 0 for both top and bottom:
- Aviate
- Google Search (aka Google Now)
- Imgur
- XDA (The top nav buttons are big enough to still touch)
- Cal
- Threes
The following apps required me to do the top padding of 145 to achieve full functionality:
- Floating Widget (shameless plug)
- Xposed Installer
- Gmail / Email
- Google Play Store
Please share your results in the thread.
Without saying, this will only install on API 19+ (4.4)

When I was messing around with just that, the app's screen still resulted in being pushed under the status bar (which remained black)...so know I thought of that, but first trials were unsuccessful.
very good module!! is missing some features like extra top/button margin for apps with buttons in these areas
Great module, thank you.
Just a suggestion, but it would be nice if there were an option to only force transparency on the navigation bar.
With so many apps having an action bar up top, forced transparency on the status bar isn't really feasible.
But most apps don't have features at the bottom of the screen, so stretching the background to go behind the navigation bar isn't a problem for the most part.

This happens in Whatsapp, for example. On apps like Facebook action bar is below status bar icons, and the look is kinda messy. Are there any known bugs of compatibility with tinted sb?

Is there a way to activate system ui tuner? Keyboard arrows don't work. Overall this is the BEST! marshmallow rom by far. Keep up the good work my friend!

The long press on the home home button brings up Google now on tap, not Google now. Is that what you're referring to?

Navbar buttons are configurable. There you can select Google Now.

Very nice Rom. Very fluid and snappy. It's also great to be back on a fully customizable Nav bar. I know this is a nightly but I wanted to post a couple quirks I've come across with the navbar in case the team may have missed them. First when applying a custom icon besides the default and system alternatives, I'm left with a blank space. I can still launch whatever app I have assign to the particular button but there is no icon in it's place. It also seem that the torch and Expanded desktop shortcuts doesn't work on the navbar. The Expanded Desktop shortcut doesn't seem to work in the custimizable power menu as well.

No it does not work. I ended up using a third party app "gmd gesture control" to set Now on tap on a long press.
Never mind, That doesn't seem to work either
:good:Thanks for this ROM. Just the customization's I was looking for.:good:
Edit: Just finished play with this a little and can't seem to connect to camera. Anyone with this issue?
Edit2: Never mind new Element kernel fixed it..
