Does a battery charge when the phone is off? If so does the USB recognize when you plug it into a computer? Would reflash stock firmware. All info will be deleted from phone

Sounds like battery is bad, yes you can flash from sdcard. Need to find your stock firmware in pg86img.zip. put that on root of sdcard. hboot will flash.

does anyone have a link to my stock firmware for rogers provider.not sure if that matters.. also my S is on will this method work?

PG86IMG.ZIP is the name the zip file you are trying to flash needs to be. You need to find the firmware for your carrier, it more then likely will come as an ruu windows application. The rom.zip will be in temp folder when you run the app, while running you copy rom.zip and rename to PG86IMG.ZIP

[Q] Bricked EVO 3D?

Hello everyone. The other day i used revolutionary to Perma-root my evo 3d. Everything was fine, till my text messages were not sending. So i took out the battery and popped it back in, and all i got was the HTC logo, then a dimmed black screen. Yes i can get into hboot, but i have clockworkmod recovery. I seem to be having a difficult time flashing the official sprint evo 3d rom. Any help is appreciated.
Download the pg86100.zip to revert back to stock in the dev section then go into hboot and let it update and you will start back at the stock ROM

try hboot flashing twrp recovery. then if you can boot up update your prl and profile, also make a phone call to see if you got that error 16 thing. Also, did you by chance try to replace your bootanim? If you did, and something like wrong permissions were set, it would still be booting with a black screen, maybe try leaving it alone while it's booting for a bit?
I did the twrp recovery, but i still get the dim black screen. after the dim black screen it goes black for a few seconds, then goes to the HTC logo again. I didnt try to change anything either...

Above is your best solution. From there you can decide to either root again or wait a bit longer. But that should fix the issue and keep you from a boot loop of just the HTC screen.
Well thats where you are wrong. I am still in the boot loop after doing the stock HTC EVO 3d flash.
So the bootloader scanned and flashed the PG86IMG file and you are still showing just the HTC screen?
Did you follow the directions here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1194053
Hi where exactly do the adb and fastboot files go when you start to run commands?
Well no i still get the boot loop. guess i have a bricked phone...

A brick is when the phone is completely unresponsive and won't boot or give you a charging led. If you can get to hboot you're not bricked. I would do a factory wipe from hboot menu (choose clear storage), and then either run an RUU with your phone in fastboot usb mode, or use a PG86IMG.zip
of an RUU to flash back to stock. That should hopefully fix the loops.

From past experiences like this, wipe, flash the bare stock rooted ROM in the development section. Do this in recovery mode. Before wiping you could try just flashing the bare Rom over. That usually worked for me.

Sweet, glad you got it booting. Now that you've ran the RUU, you'll probably need to run Revolutionary again and then flash TWRP recovery. You should be good to go then. I think your hboot will still be S-off after the RUU, but from reports of other people it acts like it's still S-on and won't let you flash anything, so running Revolutionary again is necessary.
Well i cant use revolutionary...
My device is not supported?
And now i cant make calls or text messages, i get error 16.
any help?

Call Sprint. . they can fix it. . .it's actually a common problem after the root. Try to make a call. . .you will get the error message. . .you should hang on the line for a few minutes and it will direct you to sprint. They will call you on another line. . that's not your phone, and have you power the phone off. . .they will wait a few minutes then tell you to turn it on and make a test call. . .they may have you go thru a few things, but I didn't. . .and it will work.

Help!
I feel like such a freakin noob. My EVO3D is not quite bricked but I think i broke my recovery img AND my ROM. All I can do is turn on Hboot. Tried the stock Sprint RUU to go back to stock and i keep getting an error message everytime it tries to update the ROM image. Have no idea what to do now without being able to go into recovery. Suggestions?
My phone is doing the exact same thing, cept running the ruu.exe didn't fix it. Anyone else have some more ideas?

Restoring to return to Sprint

I have a feeling the digitizer on my wife's EVO 3D has gone bad and I want to return it to Sprint but I am having trouble restoring it to a Sprint ROM. Can someone point me to a functional download of a stock rom? I am either downloading the wrong one or the link from many of the older posts is dead. The ones that I have downloaded don't seem to be working or I am doing it wrong. At the moment the phone boots to the white HTC screen and hangs there. I am able to boot into fast boot and get into recovery but none of the .zip files I am attempting to load are working. I have tried using an RUU EXE but I keep getting an error about the batter being below 30% even though it has been charging all night while turned off. I have looked through many stickies and how to instructions but I just can't seem to figure it out. Thanks for any assistance with this issue.

The best way to return to stock, is by using the leaked HTC tool, RUU. RUU stands for ROM Update Utility.
There are many different ways to handle this situation. The method I would use and prefer, I posted yesterday and am quoting:
Easiest solution is to attempt the RUU again ..
If for some reason, that process isn't working but you're able to access the bootloader, I'd remove the sdcard, using another device, load the rom.zip from the RUU.exe onto the sdcard, rename rom.zip to PG86IMG.zip and boot into the bootloader. The bootloader will recognize this file and flash it, having the same outcome as using the RUU.exe via USB.

Great location for the leaked RUU.exe or rom.zip files contained inside of the RUU.exe is: http://goo-inside.me/shooter/ruu .
Good luck!
I have downloaded the RUU and extracted the rom.zip, renamed it to PG86IMG.zip, copied it to the root of the sd card, and booted into the bootloader. Here is a link to a video of what happens.
http://youtu.be/k1rlKUSmp7Y
I don't know if i grabbed the wrong file or if the phone is just FUBAR.

Have you tried to boot the phone let it charge up and snag the 2.17 ruu exe from football's thread in dev section.
I would turn debug on then adb reboot bootloader fastboot into recovery wipe and then go back to hboot and relock the phone a must do ... Then use the ruu .
Sent from my PG86100 using xda premium
The phone will not boot past the white HTC screen so debug mode stuff is out of the question. If I relock the phone will it let me use the ruu and not give me the under 30% battery error even though the phone has been charging for the last 2 days.

I would hope so .. to use a ruu you must be relocked. I think you get some funky issues tryin to use it without relockin first I have seen others try it your way and have it say 30% thing.
I would try it . I only know you have to be relocked to use a ruu exe.

Stock (unrooted) Thunderbolt stuck in boot loop

My daughter has a stock Thunderbolt, which has worked since Christmas. All of a sudden a couple weeks ago, she woke up and it was stuck in a boot loop on the HTC splash screen.
I'm still able to get into bootloader, but unable to do a factory reset, or flash a stock RUU. Cannot boot into (stock) recovery. As soon as it tries to load the recovery console, it starts the splash screen looping again. Seems like recovery is corrupt or something
I've tried some unbricking processes, but nothing has worked. If I could get adb to see it, I'd just root it and put cwm on it, but can't get that either.

Any help is very much appreciated. Verizon store said they can't flash a fresh recovery on it, or the latest RUU...
Nothing? No suggestions?
Maybe something herehttp://androidforums.com/thunderbolt-all-things-root/449138-boot-loop.html will help...
What won't work with the RUU?
It possibly could be caused because of a corrupt sim card and/or a corrupt SD card. Try removing the SD card and see if it will load up. If still nothing, take it to Verizon for another sim card. If you go into a corporate store, they won't charge you for another sim.
Just a couple of my suggestions.
Sent from my ADR6400L using xda premium
I will try that link above.
I brought it into a privately owned verizon store on Thursday, explained to them what was going on, they said they have no idea, and I should bring it to a corporate store, so I did.
I told the guy exactly what was happening. He assumed a read a few things on the internet, so treated me like I've never used a phone before. I have had a G1, Evo, and Evo 3D...all rooted and mega customized, so not like this is my first attempt at using a smartphone.
I've tried booting without the sdcard, same thing. I've tried booting without a sim card, same thing. I tried with another verizon LTE sim card, same thing.
When I try to flash anything, I put the zip on the sdcard, power on to hboot, let it load the zip, then it does nothing, just sits at hboot. I scroll down to recovery to be able to select to restart or power down, press power, it goes to the white HTC splash screen, then the circular arrows above the phone, then to the red X, then back to HTC splash screen and boot loops the splash screen.
I can tell you your recovery is gone. Try downloading the hboot flashable cwm again and flash that in hboot. If you can get into recovery maybe you will be able to flash a rom again. You may also want to reformat your sd card or even try a different one.

that's exactly what I told the verizon dude, that recovery is gone and all they need to do is flash it back on, he said that's not possible, handed the phone back to me and said "have a good day".
I knew it was a long shot when I went in there and had to tell them how to boot into hboot, and how to remove the battery.
Don't I have to be S-OFF to flash cwm? Remember, it's stock, unrooted, and S-ON

Because when hboot loaded it, which took a few minutes to load and verify, it then automatically went into recovery to actually flash it, which put it right back into the boot loop.

Now that I think about it, it shouldn't have to go into recovery to flash it, it should have been just fine from hboot....but...after I flashed the RUU, it did reboot into recovery, and started the loop
So did you remember to clear cache and dalvik cache? That would put you in a boot loop every time.

No...it's stock, stock recovery, stock rom, S-ON...she brought it to me in this condition. It's not a rooting gone wrong. If I could get the laptop to see it, I'd root the damn thing so I can get cwm on it.
When she brought it to me, it was in this exact state. First thing I tried was to boot into recovery, which didn't work. So I googled for 'thunderbolt boot loop' and started trying things.
Before I go any further, I'd like to thank everyone for their input and thoughts. She's 12, and I really don't want to have to buy her a new phone.

Try redownloading the ruu
Sent from my ADR6400L using Tapatalk 2
I have the exact same problem, I am using a custom rom, killasense.
It loads to HTC splash when I try to connect to computer or try to go into recovery from revolutionary. It says S-OFF on revolutionary, not sure what it means.
Please update if you find a solution, I am trying to do a factory reset, but cannot.
If it says s off that means the phone has been rooted. You're running killasense which is a custom rom.. If you want to go back to stock simply download the most recent ruu, put it on the root of your sd card and rename the file to PG05img. Reboot into the bootloader press the power button to enter fast boot. It will ask you if you want to update select yes. After it completes make sure you rename the file so it doesn't try running the ruu every time you enter the bootloader. Also check the md5 before you try to run it.

I downloaded the 2.1 mecha ruu and tried to load it in hboot, and it said the existing Rom is older. So that mean I can't flash a newer ruu? Gotta be the same or older?
Since I don't have a thunderbolt, I'm not familiar with ruu versions, any way to tell in hboot so I can download the same or older?
Sent from my PG86100 using xda app-developers app
I put a new rom file (BAMF SoaB) into the SD card and renamed it PG05img, went to Revolutionary it said loading PG05img, but after it loaded it did not show a yes or no prompt. It went back to home screen of revolutionary after saying "No image or wrong image", still stuck on boot loop splash screen.

[Q] Help! Might have bricked my Rezound...

Okay, so I had a custom ROM on my phone, with a custom recovery. Sold the phone on eBay, and silly me tried to revert to stock before I shipped it out.
The phone is S-On. The bootloader was unlocked, and I relocked it using fastboot oem lock.
Then I tried to flash the RUU using fastboot, which failed. Here is the output.
i.imgur. com/sGAtSba. png (remove the spaces, I can't post links until I have ten posts and this is kind of important to my post...
Now the phone won't turn on, no charging LED, nothing... is it FUBAR?
(I thought I couldn't brick it if I was S-On but maybe I'm just stupid)
Thanks guys.
Is this a PH98IMG.zip you're trying to flash? If so, you don't do it through fastboot. Put it on your external SD card and boot into the bootloader. The phone will walk you through the rest.

Yeah. Originally, I tried that. I placed it on the phone's storage and nothing happened when I booted into the bootloader. So I tried fastboot instead (noob mistake?) but now it won't turn on at all. It looks like the flash failed on hboot
it needs to be on the removable disk drive. hboot won't read phone storage.
REZOUND-S-OFF-VIPERREZ - SNUZZO 2.3 KERNEL...
Well I've tried unbricking it with no luck. I used the tool at /showthread.php?t=1833530
I was able to successfully flash the hboot file. Tried all three versions to no avail. I still can't turn the phone on or get to the bootloader. I also tried the hboot located within the RUU zip (2.25)
I'm seriously stuck now.
Pull the battery and leave it out for a few minutes to give any residual charge in the phone a chance to dissipate. Put the battery back in and try to charge it. In the meantime, pull the removable microSD card out and with an adapter plug that into your PC. Copy the RUU ph98 file to that card. If you manage to get a healthy charge on your phone, replace the microSD card and try to boot into the bootloader. The RUU installation process should then start.

The name of your RUU file shows as "QHSUSB_DLOAD"? If so, it needs to be renamed to PH98IMG.zip before you try and flash it.

No, that's what the USB device shows up as in my computer's device manager. From what I've read this means it's soft bricked.
Ah, I've never come close to a brick so I didn't recognize that. I threw my idea out on the hope that you had a lower charge than you anticipated when you went to flash. If we can get any response outta the phone there's a chance to recover it.

[Q] Rezound Not Booting

Hello all. I'm new to the site and hope someone can give me some direction or thoughts on what my phone has going on. I bought a Rezound that will not boot, it comes up with a rainbow striped screen and then "ANDROID" then if it makes it to start screen it has an error that locks the phone up. "The process com.android.phone has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again." It has a Force Close button but by this time the phone is frozen and does not respond except to a battery pull. I can get it into hboot but thats it. Restore does not work either.
The following is the info from the hboot screen maybe it will help.

Unfortunately I do not know what the history of the phone is. All I know is that when I got the phone it was doing as I descibed above. I do cell phone repairs for a living but I am not software savvy. I was hoping by the phones stats that someon might be able to pin point what happened and direct me to a fix.

ah, ok. so we should start from scratch then.
best way to get this up and running again is to flash the latest RUU.
please have a full battery
http://androidrevolutions.com/neo/GlobalRuuPH98IMG.zip
rename the file to PH98IMG.zip
place on the root of an sd card
boot into hboot by holding volume down and power.
let this run first update will be fast and act like it reboots. let it do its thing. it will put you into fastboot. click the option to go into hboot and it will run again
this time it will take forever.
once it updates, you will have a bone stock phone. from there you can flash a recovery of your choice then flash a rom of your choice.
Wow. I've not seen a dev/debug s off rez in a LONG time. Do the RUU then flash a patched 2.25 hboot. From there factory reset in bootloader. Confirm boot and make sure you get at least boot animation. After that head back into hboot, flash a custom recovery and reflash the rom.

Thanks for the advice. I will give that a shot. Now I am new to all this so excuse the question but when you say to place on the root of an sd card, you mean the sd card that goes in the phone? If so how to i get the file to the sd card from a PC? Sorry

Card reader or if you have a custom recovery already boot into it by going through bootloader then mount USB mass storage in there.

Thanks! Last question before I head off to try this. If I do the update with the RUU and it succeeds and i am left with the bone stock phone will I have to flash a recovery and flash a rom for it to work? Or can I stop after the RUU?

when you flash the ruu it turns the phone back to stock right out of the box. if you like it that way, you can keep it.

No you will be left with an s off rezound that's on OTA firmware and rom unrooted. To avoid confusion, reply when you get everything set up after running the RUU.

Okay. So I put the zip file on the sd card ran the hboot twice and then did a reboot and it still does the same thing as before where it freezes up after a series of force close errors.
How can I tell if the RUU was loaded correctly?

Same as when I started.
When I am loading the RUU it says:
SD Checking..
Loading...(PH98DIAG.zip)
No Image!
Loading...(PH98DIAG.nbh)
No Image or wrong image!
Loading..(PH98IMG.zip)
Then the blue status bar on the right starts to fill up. Then when it is done it repeats the pervious dialog really fast then it just goes back to hboot screen.
Try renaming to ph98diag

I renamed the file to PH98DIAG.zip and it looked like it was going to work but still nothing.
Not sure how to post the zip file like you are asking?
