How much bloatware comes installed? - Verizon LG G3

Just wondering how much VZW bloatware comes installed on the G3 and can any of be uninstalled?
Thanks in advance!

As usual it has VZ crap and Amazon. You can disable but unable remove them unless you root.

The usual high amount. I thought it was demo store software running, but it was the out of box bloat.
Definite debloat candidate like most VZW Android devices.

[Q] Does Motorola Razr has Carrier IQ?

Hi Everyone! How is it going? Well i finally decided for the Motorola Razr instead of Samsung Galaxy S2, i don't care too much about Custom ROMs, Customs Kernels and whatever .. I choosed the Razr because of it's hardware quality desing is better, when i held SGS2 in my hand it felt too light and made with cheap and fragile plastic wich makes me wonder how long would it be alive without crack it or break it.. I read that Razr is more resistant and rugged instead of sgs2.. so i ordered mine, i'm getting it next week. A little detail that worries me a bit is the famous Carrier IQ Software, does it has carrier iq? I'm getting the international GSM Version XT910, not the CDMA version. It worries me because i'd like to use my visa and mastercard credit cards for shopping directly from the phone. Thanks!
Nope. No carrier IQ here. Moto Razr with Verizon.

As far as I know it's not and I dont see it listed in my apps. I thought the iPhone had it though.
Phew, i was getting paranoic thinking that my carrier could have my credit cards numbers.. ¬¬ Is it a Good Phone for you guys? What do you think about it? Is it really what it looks like or it is a bit frustrating and dissapointing.. ? I'm waiting for mine.. Hope it's well made u.u Thanks for your fast replies!
It doesn't show up in the apps. It's hidden. It can be detected tho.

The Verizon version of the phone DOES NOT have CIQ, VZW is the only carrier that doesn't use it. I ran the lookout checker app on my re-unrooted phone with all apps and its not there.

i don't think that Motorola cooperates with Carrier IQ.. none of their devices has CIQ software. at least i guess. haven't seen it on Milestone neither on Flipout and neither on Motorola RAZR (EU version).
if you're not sure anyway, you can easily find out by installing Carrier IQ Detector or if you're advanced with android, you can check by using adb logcat.
Good to know.
Verizon has officially announced that none of their phones have Carrier IQ. So if it's on Verizon, it doesn't have Carrier IQ installed.

T-Mobile Galaxy S5 bloatware?

I am picking up my S5 tomorrow. I am use to AT&T's bloatware, so I am wondering what bloatware comes preinstalled on the TMobile Galaxy S5?

A Lot unfortunately. Name ID; T-Mobile TV; and Your T-Mobile Account. They don't take use a lot of memory. But you can't remove and they can be intrusive.

If you root it, why would you not be able to remove the apps?

It's actually pretty good compared to previous Galaxy phones. You have a few T-Mobile apps as mentioned and the usual random apps from Samsung, but other third party apps are limited to Amazon, Flipboard and Lookout Mobile Security (may or may not consider Lookout bloat). The latter three can be turned off. If you root you should be able to freeze or delete apps.
Even if you don't root you can just disable them. Google made it a lot easier to deal with boat ware since android 4.0. And yes, if you root you can delete or Uninstall them.

My T-Mobile App

Just a heads up. The My T-Mobile App will be updated soon and can now alert T-Mobile that you are rooted. My wife is a manager at T-Mobile.
✌
This means that warranty of yours will be terminated.
Oh and your insurance.
Isn't it an app you can use to fake the rooted phone to show that it's not rooted?

The same way that other apps are able to determine if your phone is rooted, so will T-Mobile's app.

unless there going back against there we dont care and rooting and unlocked bootloaders i would not worry and since id say 98% of the rooters remove this or freeze it
Just remove the app. You can disable it.

Thanks! I have it frozen usually but I do unfreeze it every so often to check my balance.
I am using root cloak now so hopefully if I enable it again I'll be ok if I ever have a warranty issue.

If you're rooted, why not just remove the app completely? Freezing it is fine too, but if you know it's 100% safe to remove...
Also, this "technology" is and has already been in use... It's called Carrier IQ or Caller IQ. Typically, this is only used to report you if you are searching for bad things on the interwebz... IE, how to make a bomb, kiddy porn, etc.
Additionally, you are protected under the "Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act", and cannot be denied a warranty claim, regardless of Root, within reason of course... Please see this post for reference and further info: http://www.xda-developers.com/xda-tv-2/your-warranty-is-not-void-xda-tv/
I noticed a few weeks ago the T Mobile diagnostic software said that I was rooted among other things. I removed it. I won't worry about it. I'm sure plenty of people root Tmo devices.
The My T-Mobile App has been able to tell whether the phone has been rooted or not for a while. I am going to preach here, but if you are worried, remove it!
I find this not very surprising as all the other bloat that comes on our phones these days. I was just on the phone earlier with a TMo rep., due to having what I believe are digitizer issues. I am rooted and the rep said he was pulling certain diagnostic info from my phone, but was having issues pulling some others...my bad Tmo. Anyhow, I did occasionally use this app to track certain usages, but after that call, it will be gone for good!!
just decline the device data collection. and your good.
Got a text from TMO saying: Important Update - Your My account app is out of date, update at blah blah blah.
That app is lying frozen along with knox, lookout, and all the other bloated stuff. Thanks for the heads up flamebeats.
This is bull! I can asure you this isnt an issue with your phones being rooted i work deep inside of T-Mobile and thats all im saying. As long as the phone is in good working condition when you plan to jump thats all that matters. Phones are sent in to be refurbished.

[Q]Buying t-mobile s5 to use on AT&T, What to look for

I want to get a t-mobile s5 to use on att and I want to have root access. So from what I have read, root is not an issue with this phone and the worst case is I have to flash a lower version firmware/bootloader. Then from there I could upgrade it to any version I wanted. After its rooted I was planning on using gsmzambia to usb unlock it. Is there anything that I have missed or should look at before buying a phone? Just want to make sure I don't get stuck with a phone I cant use. I just got rid of a 5.0 att s5 because I couldn't root it, so i'm a little cautious right now, lol.
I thinking of doing the same thing. Least expensive place I can find is retail store and just buy a prepaid version. I would use cellunlocker. Not sure if I can post the link or not. Would it not work? It is less.

You can root the AT&T s5, you just can't unlock the bootloader. But that's neither here nor there.
You will be able to use a T-mobile s5 on AT&T, no problem. I did a small thread on what you will need to do once you have it unlocked and rooted. You can find that thread at: http://forum.xda-developers.com/tmobile-galaxy-s5/help/tips-using-g900t-att-t2975336 .
This includes setting up the APN properly, what Tmobile apps you need to turn off or freeze, etc.

It is my understanding you cannot root AT&T s5, sm-g900a, that came with 5.0. If you can, where are the instructions? I have searched for hours! I too am ready to ditch this phone because I cannot hear on it without a volume booster (and for other tweaks), and I do know about the setting that will let you adjust the volume once in a call.
Thank you for the how to set up T-Mobile phone for AT&T.
If u get a T-Mobile s5, g900t, all you have to look for is to make sure it isn't running the of6 ota update. From what I read, downgrade is not possible if taken. I can't confirm 100 percent but this is only major thing to look for.
I have a g900t and am on ATT. I previously was like you, stuck with a g900a that was unrootable. Glad I switched.

I have tried to download the G900TTMB1ANE5_TMB.ZIP 4.2.2 file from sammobile several times so I can downgrade when I get this phone, and it keeps failing. Unless I can find an untouched version anyway else, I guess I am out of luck.
I can downgrade the T-Mobile if it is on 5.0 or less, right, using Odin?

I just bought a T mobile branded phone from Craigslist. I asked the person to look at there settings and tell me the version model and baseband. Once i found what i was looking for a bought it. I paid 250 for it and had them meet me at T mobile to verify every thing and get it sim unlocked. I am on it now using it with AT&T running TMS3.0 and KT kernel. Used phones are not as bad as some people think. There are a lot of people out there that don't even know what rooting is and they want a new phone every time a different one comes out. The one i bought is flawless and works great.

T-Mobile Visual Voicemail

What's the trick on T-Mobile LG V60 to get visual voicemail on the stock Android App? I even have the beta Google Phone app installed and no luck.

I use Google's Phone app/dialer on AT&T and don't have access to the native AOSP VVM app.
Hell, AT&T's own VVM app "isn't compatible" which this phone, according to the Google Play Store. And I bought the phone from AT&T. This isn't an unbranded or open-market model.
For now, I just installed the most recent AT&T VVM app from APKMirror, and that seems to be working fine. I'd love to be able to replace it with the stock Android VVM just to compare features and out of curiosity, if nothing else.
But alas, it seems as if its been AT&T's policy to force users to use their own VVM app a stock default (even if they don't actually start supporting their newest devices until weeks or months after release)!
I would guess there's a similar policy in place with T-Mo.

I don't understand your question. I'm talking about my AT&T-bought LG V60.
It doesn't support AT&T's own VVM app (according to the Google Play Store, "device incompatible").
And it's AT&T's general policy to not allow the stock ASOP VVM on most Android devices (iPhones are completely exempt).
At least it was. If something's changed in the past year or two, I certainly don't see it reflected on my phone.
I had to go to APKMirror to get AT&T's VVM app on this phone, which is ridiculous, but not unusual.
I had to do the same for my old LG V30 until AT&T finally released a new version of their VVM app on the Google Play Store that worked on the V30.
As for the Google Phone app, I have it installed on my V60 and set up as my primary phone app/dialer, and it works fine. It just doesn't have the VVM component.

That is what I'm referring to that carriers block or LG and Samsung block. I have always been able to utilize Google phone app and get visual voicemail on Pixels and OnePlus even on carrier versions without issues.
I'm sick if seeing that error message from T-Mobile Visual Voicemail app. On my carrier Pixel or OnePlus using Google phone app it doesn't have issues at all. I have jump on demand and have since it came out. I have had over 30+ Android models with various Android versions and various T-Mobile Visual Voicemail apps and have seen this message on every device. I'm extremely annoyed, we should not be forced to utilize a third party app when stock Android has this feature.

It's the U.S. carriers, not the OEMs. And it's been known about for years.
Hell, I could never get my open-market LG V30 to utilized AT&T's VoLTE hi-fi calling. My phone supported all the right bands.
Then, why? Because I didn't buy my phone from AT&T. My phone's open-market IMEI was on a blacklist.
Or perhaps, since I didn't buy my V30 from AT&T, it's simply that my phone's IMEI wasn't on a sanctioned white-list.
I know for sure that a few years ago, a Pixel with an AT&T SIM couldn't access Android's stock VVM app.
Slip in a Verizon SIM, and you could. It was, and remains, ridiculous.
Now, it could be that AT&T and Google (and, I suppose, OnePlus) struck deals in the last year or two.
But that's only for their phones. Phones made by other OEMs are typically SOL.
I mean, you can Google the issue for most big (and minor) devices out there and find pages of AT&T forum results complaining about the situation.
It's sadly well documented.
With the work around I have always been able to get this working on a lot of devices. The work around is to install the T-Mobile app, allow to fully setup, uninstall, reboot and wait a few minutes it's there. The LG and Samsungs don't work even with the work around. I am hoping if I get enough signatures the carriers will be forced to change.
