Protective Film... Did you get it ALL? - Verizon LG G3

Okay, I've had my phone for 4 days now, and thought I had all of the protective films off of it. I found my wife had missed the ones on the edge 2 days ago, so she got all of those.
But did you notice there's one on the power/volume buttons?
Yeah, me neither. It is now OFF.
So, we have...
1. Screen protective film
2. 4 thin films going around the edge of the phone (if your phone edges feel rough, this is why)
3. Film that looks like a Tie Fighter covering the power button and volume buttons.
Some may know of these, but I bet you I'm not the only one that missed them...

Neither really, I was just kind of entertained to find another one settings somewhere. I know at least one other person just found it on theirs. Lol

Ok, I missed it too. Thought I got them all the first night. Love the little TIE fighter.
Edit: Taking the little sticker off, I have now learned that if you hold the down volume button while the phone is off will bring up your camera.

yes I had all and how did you get this one off!?!?! I cant get off to save my life!!!

Ancient Chinese secret...
Actually, old Army Secret. Always keep a fingernail handy. Used it like a scoop and scraped the edge till it pulled up a bit. Slid my nail under it and peeled it off. I LIKE the texture of those buttons.

I still cant get. I will just leave mine on until it falls off haha

Turn your phone sideways (landscape), then scrape down the middle (powerbutton) with your fingernail.

I got all films.
Anybody know how I can remove the audio and charging port letters to keep the stock film? I tried nail polish but it didn't remove them.

Ha, yeah i noticed the next day when i took it out of my case.. like what the heck is that on the side.. oh.. its on everything.. and whats that on the volume... heh.. good stuff, wonder how many people will find it because of your post

Two days ago I started to feel something was wrong with the volume up button. I was like oh no the build quality is horrible. Then I realized it's a film that started peeling off!

I'm guilty also. Didn't realize till I saw the post. ?

No worries, we aren't stupid, just differently smart.

Missed that volume one. Thanks!

Not a problem. May the Force be with you.

Anyone else?

I just noticed the ones on the side when I took the case off. I like the Tie Fighter looking one but now I see why I can't find the volume buttons fast.

Get them all? The only one I took off, was the one on the screen. I want to keep this baby in as good shape as possible, so it's worth more when it comes time to sell it.

AT&T Tilt 2 Clear Hard Case

I purchased this. got really excited as its the only case that att offers for the phone that is a snap on hard case incase of accidents. it also has a screen protecter which i was weary of from the start. when i got it. It actually fits perfect compare to the only one they had for The Fuze. Which scratched my phone and wore quickly. but it did its job for 3 months.
But the Tilt 2 one i dont think i like due to the screen protector. It sticks to the screen making bubble like look. and it has a black border on the face which takes away from the Chrome accents. i even took off my screen protector just incase it was conflicting with the case. and it still did the same thing. stuck to the screen or made bubble like appearences when the screen was turned off. i think they messed up with this desighn, and i may be taking it back because it cost me 29.99 plus tax.
System
That was my experience too. I took it off and put on a Boxwave screen cover. Also, the screen cover was just loose enough to trap fine particles under the cover.
I took mine off because:
1) It was extremely difficult to tap the taskbar to bring up the Task Manager
2) The scrollbar at the bottom of the display became next to impossible to use
Basically, the edges of the screen required large amounts of pressure before the phone would register a touch with the case on.

+1 I got rid of the case very quick.
I still use this case but only the bottom half the top part pretty "rinkiydink" i removed the screen protector part and just tried using the top piece but it doesn't stay on the device i would suggest buying one from amazon.com i have a black snap on case on the way i payed 8 bucks for!!! the case-mate has a year warranty so if it cracks or whatever at&t will swap it out for you that is one advantage i guess.

yeah i even took off the plastic top... but it scratched the fake Rhodium around because of debris that got in there. ooo i was erked. so i figured you know what. i might as well enjoy my phone... but if i drop it... crap! i better figure something out.
Let me know how that case from Amazon works out. if you got a link id appreciate it. thanks.
i just got this case.. its nice!
heres the fix to the bubbling look problem..
get a anti-glare screen protector under it.
i have this setup on my ipod touch (casemate + antiglare) and it works perfectly, no werid smudges. i have an invisible shield right now + this case mate and im debating switching to an anti glare to get the nasty sticky look off... we'll see. anyway, i dont have a solution for the buttons being harder to press xD
I got this case right after I dropped the Tilt2 the first time.
Now 3 months later the case comes apart in my purse.
Sucks
Now Im looking for a Clear case that has a screen like this one not just cover the edges.
the Bubble thing got on my nerves,
Tilt2 Case-mate clear plastic case bubbles
Hello and thanks for all of you posting on this...
I will return mine and be satisfied with the one I already have on it. Saw these Case-mate covers at the AT&T store for half off so I thought I'd try one and was generally pleased except for the bubbles... bad design. And I thought of doing all the things that others have tried (posted here above) and so I will just get my money back. I guess all the vendors are making good cases for the iphone...
I can't really find a really nice case for this phone. The one I did find I had to make modifications to it like use a file to provide better access to the on/off button on top and the volume controls... I did find one from otter box on ebay that looks interesting...
Thanks again to all who posted and made my decision to return this product easy.
CASEMATE
The only thing positive I can say about the CaseMate that AT&T sells is that when the screen protector delaminates from the clear plastic frame it is glued into AT&T will replace the whole thing, back and front, for 1 year after initial purchase, other than that it is crap. Keep some cynoacrylate (super glue) around for when it does pop off, but when you compare the $29 they want against so many other products in this price range it just doesn't hold up. Hell it doesn't even have a clip.
In the same vein is the Body Glove but it is far superior and less money. It doesn't try to protect your screen so you will still need a screen protector, but it has a clip that acts as a stand.

A friend of mine was at a mall and going past a kiosk and they had a bunch of hard snap on cases for the touchpro 2... she had asked me if I wanted one but I didnt really. I guess they were only around 20 dollars. I saw the ones at ATT months and months ago and they looked like garbage. The one she got was pretty nice though... no crappy piece of plastic that covers the screen!
so if you are in the market for a cheaper one and dont want to wait for one to ship from ebay or whatever just go to your mall.
The case mate one that ATT sells is horrid! I have it on my phone right now and it's been scratching up the chrome and gouging it! As well my back cover has scratches from where debris has come in! I'm going to return this hunk of junk and get myself something better, any recommendations besides the bodyglove?

Anyone try the Incipio Feather for our GSII?

There's no cases in stores around me (Bay Area) because they didnt sell the phone here so i have to buy one online. Anyone have this case? Is it good? Mic holes? Thanks
http://www.myincipio.com/Samsung-Galaxy-S-II-ATandT-Cases-Accessories/Incipio-Samsung-Galaxy-S-II-ATandT-feather-Ultralight-Hard-Shell-Case.asp
The case keeps the super slim profile of the phone, adding no bulk at all. Keeps scratches off the back but i think if you drop this you'll be in trouble, i like it though. Also the screen protector they send with the phone is the International version with the home button cut out.

finally! ive been waiting for the feather to come out for our device. ive had this for my iphone and its my fav case ever.
according to the pics from the site, doesnt look like any of the mic holes are covered even on the noise cancellation. the cut out looks big enough.
I have the other case they sell and it is an amazing case but the power button is hard to press. It is a very noticeable difference and I'm still deciding if its a deal breaker or not. You have to press it from the right angle every time and it is annoying.
Looks like the top is is actually open. I think I'ma try this one.
Too bad they don't offer white or red -- I'd be all over it in a heartbeat...
EDIT: I'm going to go ahead and try the blue one.
If anyone is interested, there's a 15% coupon floating around: FBFAN2011
(Note if you just add the item to your cart and you try to pay there is no place to enter the promo code, but if you add to your cart, browse the site a little more, and then click 'view cart' at the upper right hand as if you were going to edit the order, you can then add the code -- at least that is what worked for me)!
Looks tempting - if anyone can compare with the Casemate barely there and/or the Rearth Slim I'd appreciate it - I've got both of those but I'm always willing to upgrade
Looks like ill be getting it then
Ordered mine on Saturday, got the shipping confirmation today. Hope to get it by the end of the week!
FYI- I recently got the casemate barely there and despite what I read the top is cut properly for our i777 top mic, just like the pic posted above.
Hope that may help some who were unsure about it.
Mine should be here today
Would love to see some pictures when you get it

Just got it now, im going to update the OP when the pics finish uploading.
Thanks for sharing, seems like a cool case.
Thanks for the pictures.
I'm a little bummed out because I thought the sides went around to the front a little more. Based on Picture 3 in the OP, it looks like the screen will sit flush on a surface if it's placed faced down. That's one thing I really liked about my Case Mate case right now.
My case comes in on Friday, I'm hoping it works out ok.
Sorry, wrong case comment
I too wish it had the lay on the table design
Well I got my case in and tried it out. Sure enough, it doesn't fit quite right on the bottom part of the phone. I'm really disappointed, I think that is a deal breaker for me. I don't want to have to worry about my phone screen getting scratched up due to the poor fit. I also suspect this will make the phone susceptible to falling out of the case as well.
Bummer.

you should probably try to exchange for another one. can you take some pics of how it doesnt fit quite right? im about to order one but if its a bad batch, im gonna wait a bit before i order.
i have the same model for my iphone and love it. i have 4 different color. this model doesnt wrap around to the front and create a lip. its pretty much just a thin plastic skin for the phone.
Here's what my case looks like.
I used the case tonight and it feels like the phone pops out of the case. It seems like the area that going around the bottom of the phone and the bump. When I squeeze the sides, it feel like it gives a little bit and somewhat clicks to look more like the top of the case, but it doesn't stay.
I'm emailing Incipio to see what they can do. I don't really want to get the other case, so I will probably just return it.

sticky power button mod (tight cases)

This might be a useless post. I originally posted in one of the diztronic posts, but see It's a more than one person issue. if someone can help me and post a picture of the unedited backing that way people can see a before and after. Essentially with some of the cases they grab the backing too tight against the power button causing it to stick. from what I've seen looking at a couple of EVO's is that the power button doesn't sit flush with the front of the phone, a manufacturing defect I guess. What's needed to be done is filing down the backing where it won't touch the button. In our case it is not the visible section but wings that stick out inside the phone.

Ive noticed if you push down power button on the left side of the button it tends to stick, if you push on the right side your ok. I was going to get a replacement, but after reading this I might as well just modify this one.

all the "defective"ones I've seen are raised on the left side when looking down atop the button .
take the backing off and you'll see one side not flush.
THANK YOU FOR THIS POST!
I got my Diztronic TPU case in yesterday and I've had 9-10 reboots due to the power button. I was planning on going to Best Buy to exchange at lunch today but guess that's not the answer. I suppose I'll get to filing and see if that helps.
Any other suggestions would be appreciated.
You don't have to be afraid of shaving too much as there isn't anything to harm. There is a clip on the right but it's far enough from the parts to shave. just something to have caution if you go crazy with it.
I shaved a but off of mine just a tiny tiny piece actually its hard to tell any was taken off. I was getting the reboots but that cured it, and not a single reboot since.

Worked for me. Im glad becasue i liked the case i just purchased,
Just so people are aware, there is no such issue with the Cruzerlite case. My power button isn't even close to being pushed by the case.
Sent from my EVO using XDA
As I've noted before, this issue isn't with all phones. my parents 2 phones didn't have the power button sticking out. mine was a bestbuy preorder by mail, theirs was a release day bestbuy walk in. I had to swap backings and cases with no change before I noticed the issue. it is also a possible problem without a case.
Once again, this issue isn't for all phones, very few actually.
Bought 2 diztronic cases. One had this problem, the other didn't.
Returned the problematic one to Amazon. Going to buy a cruzerlite!
btw, for those who shaved the case, can you tell the paint fell off?
The button isn't aluminum? Not sure what paint your pointing toward.

Au contraire, I just got my cruzerlite tpu today and do see that the left side of my power button tends to sink whenever I press it down. My temporary fix is by gently sliding my finger to the other side of the button (but it gets a little old after a while lol )
To OP thanks, but does this file mod make it look weird? I might just live with it if the cosmetic issue is really visible.
Sent from my EVOLTE
I forget that I've done it honestly. it did have an unintended side effect. the back plate is much easier to peel off ! Makes a nicer slot for your nail/object
Tomorrow I'll take a frontal post op to show. the pic in the first post is the filed backing .
I got impatient and did it haha. I used a knife, nail clipper and a nail file to smooth it down. Less than 5min to mod the plastic backing. Just carefully clip off the edge under curved part where the power button would be at

OP...You are the man! Filed it down with a nail file and the problem went away. Thank you!
This info is so good I had to thank you twice!

Interested in how you fixed the buttons. That's the only thing I don't like with this case
Nice pictures. But...
I absolutely hated this case personally. Makes the phone feel huge and bulky, just cheap overall. The sides don't fit very well (bow out) -- flimsy plastic, buttons are a loose plastic mess, it's bulky and feels cheap. Just not worth the price tag when compared to other cases.
@Ellingsoc .. I'll have that video posted in a few days. You will love how much nicer the buttons become.
@Andromjb.. Was the bowing because of the way the bumper was seated on the tpu case? It took me a while before I got the fitment to be perfect because I didn't realize the two pieces weren't in place correctly
Can you explain it haha these buttons are driving me nuts
I really want people to go to the video for that info. But I'll PM you.

Could have just been my particular case as I applied it multiple ways, but it never fit 100% correctly no matter how hard I tried.
Bottom would always bulge leaving the plastic rough to touch while handling (on the upper backside area by microphone). Top was a tedious task of maneuvering the soft rubber backing to fit correctly without getting stuck underneath the outer plastic shell. Plastic sides were flimsy. Unappealing loose cheap plastic buttons which were always in the way.
I was always accidentally hitting/pressing the volume rockers or turning the screen off while just trying to hold the phone.
Just bad design, imho.
Try out a Ringke MAX. You'll see a major difference in quality and features for the same (actually cheaper) price point.
the way i put the case on was to first align the bumper and tpu perfectly. Then I would hold the left and right sides firmly and put the phone in bottom side first. Snap the top corners in while pressing the phone downwards to the bottom of the case. Works perfect every time so far!
@Ellingsoc .. I pm'ed you bout the buttons btw. Nothing shows in my sent box though. If you didnt get it send me a pm and ill respond to that one

I would appreciate the info via PM also. Don't see the secondary video posted yet. Doesn't my seniority here afford me that?
Even in the pictures you have taken with your case, it is showing a minor glimpse of what I was experiencing. I think you may have gotten a better quality case from manufacturing or perhaps they have made stealth revisions since as mine was a lot worse even with proper applications.
See attachment below -- which was the rough touch edge I referred to from previous comments.

It's just the way the case is designed. It goes on a bit too snug, so it leaves some parts a bit uneven which returns poor results and rough edges.
I'm not trying to say the case is terrible. I just want people to be informed of the certain flaws and quality before they end up spending $19+ while they have other options available for less.

Bumper or something to stop the "wobble"

I love this N6, kinda, wish it was smaller, but obviously nobody can do anything about that.
but I can not type at all when the phone is on my desk because the damn thing wobbles all the time. I want a bumper or something that would "protect" the edge, and would stop the wobble.
ideas?
Just go on Amazon.com and search: Nexus 6 case
There's dozens and dozens of different options, and most of them have reviews on Youtube that you can search for and see what you like.

Try holding the phone in your hands instead of laying it on a desk. Even if the phone didn't rock, it is still impossible to type as if it was a normal keyboard.

i had no problem with my S5 on the desk., my question still stands, I would like a case that will stop the phone from wobbling.
Rinke Fusion and max both have a back surface that reduce wobble. I use the Fusion clear with a dbrand skin. Works well. Looks good. Has very "grippy" sides, so it feels very secure when holding it. Doesn't add much bulk to the phone. Protects headphone and USB ports. All around my favorite case, and I tried several from spigen, ringke, and 2 others makers I can't seem to remember the names of.
This issue has bothered me since i got the phone. As far as I know, there is no case that flattens the back I looked.
So this is what I did.

I had a Tylt qi charging dock, and some extra self adhesive velcro. Now I can use it while it's charging and type without it rocking. It works quite well.

Haa.. great idea, but at the table, libaray, i might get a thin case and do something kinda like that .. the size and the back are the things that will eventualy have me getting a S5 from Tmo and putting CM on it.

I got two words for you... Rubber band. Put a round rubber band on a table and then put the phone right at center. It stops wobbling and spinning.
great idea, but i am not carrying rubberbands.. man , i hope they come out wih something a little smaller and less of a pain soon, and that is clean of crapware.
Sounds like you need an iPhone. Problem solved.

I love this N6, kinda, wish it was smaller, but obviously nobody can do anything about that.
but I can not type at all when the phone is on my desk because the damn thing wobbles all the time. I want a bumper or something that would "protect" the edge, and would stop the wobble.
ideas?

This bothered me too. So i tried some clear "dots" . They are about 1/16" tall and if positioned correctly the phone stays rock solid while typing on the desk.
Also, they add almost no depth to the phone because they are placed downhill from the apex of the curve.
Maybe not the most elegant solution but it works.
Crazy all the issues that come up. It never would have occurred to me to try to use the phone while it was laying on a desk. I can think of a million rejoinders (uhh....pick it up?). But LRFs (little rubber feet) are probably the best solution.
Case Found!
I found a flat case for the Nexus 6:

There are a couple caveats:
1. It makes the phone a bit bulky. Of course there's really no way around that if you want a flat case. The phone is pretty fat at that curve on the back.
2. I found the case is not compatible with one of three wireless chargers. This one FAILS:

[UPDATE - Turns out the charger works fine - it just needs more juice due to this case. I plugged it into the wall instead of a USB port and it's charging again. Thus I can now wholeheartedly recommend this case, as long as you don't mind the extra bulk.]
This style works fine (contrary to some posts saying it doesn't work with the Nexus 6, it works for me):

This one works when positioned right ( a little off center):

I was going to comment earlier but there's no 'slim' case that would prevent the wobbling. I got a larger trident case on my phone now and while it reduces it, there's a very mild type of spinning that can happen. Especially if you are swiping. Glad you found a case though.
If that one doesn't work out, I think the ballistic would be right up your alley to try.
I use one of those plastic bead filled wrist rests.

The key for me is that the anti-wobble solution can't block wireless charging. Some folks have used a slim case and added rubber dots along the thin edges, though I imagine most of those bumps would end up stuck in my pocket. Ideally I'd like a silicone slim case with built-in bumps along the edge. They would help for both stabilizing and gripping the phone without adding so much bulk.
I'm telling you, best slim case that helps with wobble is the Ringke Fusion. It's not perfect, but what is. After all, you bought a round phone dude...

I just got the CellBee Life Companion case (with holster) today, and it also provides a raised, non-wobble back for the phone.
